this_o wisdom_n as_o he_o study_v it_o be_v subservient_fw-fr to_o his_o progress_n in_o save_v knowledge_n 2._o his_o study_n be_v to_o know_v madness_n and_o folly_n whereby_o he_o do_v not_o mean_a that_o he_o study_v to_o know_v the_o case_n of_o these_o who_o be_v deprive_v of_o the_o exercise_n of_o natural_a reason_n see_v such_o be_v often_o very_o free_a of_o vexation_n nor_o do_v he_o speak_v here_o of_o his_o sudy_n of_o the_o wickedness_n and_o perverseness_n of_o his_o own_o heart_n in_o order_n to_o the_o mortify_n thereof_o because_o that_o study_v also_o be_v blessed_v with_o much_o peace_n and_o quietness_n of_o spirit_n but_o by_o this_o madness_n which_o he_o study_v to_o know_v be_v mean_v these_o violent_a sinful_a course_n such_o as_o oppression_n unjust_a conquest_n and_o the_o like_a which_o man_n take_v for_o attain_v to_o worldly_a riches_n and_o honour_n and_o wherein_o wicked_a man_n use_v to_o glory_n as_o if_o they_o be_v renown_v by_o they_o as_o the_o word_n signify_v and_o by_o folly_n these_o sensual_a and_o beastly_a pleasure_n whereunto_o carnal_a man_n give_v up_o themselves_o he_o study_v the_o outmost_a in_o both_o these_o course_n which_o may_v seem_v to_o promise_v or_o bring_v about_o any_o happiness_n to_o man_n and_o this_o he_o do_v that_o he_o may_v the_o more_o effectual_o convince_v all_o that_o true_a happiness_n be_v not_o to_o be_v find_v in_o these_o way_n and_o four_o he_o pass_v the_o same_o sentence_n and_o censure_n upon_o these_o course_n which_o he_o do_v upon_o the_o former_a viz._n that_o the_o outmost_a that_o any_o man_n neglect_v the_o study_n of_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o of_o live_v in_o his_o fear_n and_o obedience_n can_v attain_v unto_o whether_o in_o the_o exercise_n far_o illustrate_v the_o sin_n and_o misery_n of_o the_o covetous_a worldling_n who_o portion_n be_v in_o this_o present_a life_n and_o for_o this_o end_n he_o first_o suppose_v such_o a_o one_o to_o have_v yet_o two_o far_a degree_n of_o his_o fancy_a happiness_n the_o 1._o be_v a_o numerous_a offspring_n to_o possess_v what_o he_o have_v gather_v if_o a_o man_n say_v he_o beget_v a_o hundred_o degree_n of_o true_a rest_n as_o the_o compare_v of_o they_o will_v seem_v to_o import_v but_o that_o this_o untimely_a birth_n be_v never_o vex_v with_o such_o distract_n care_v and_o fear_n as_o the_o covetous_a worldling_n be_v torment_v with_o five_o he_o enlarge_v the_o supposition_n of_o the_o covetous_a man_n long_a life_n by_o suppose_v that_o which_o be_v impossible_a to_o wit_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v a_o thousand_o year_n twice_o tell_v superad_v to_o all_o his_o other_o earthly_a advantage_n of_o riches_n honour_n numerous_a offspring_n and_o the_o like_a and_o this_o he_o do_v that_o he_o may_v drive_v he_o from_o the_o apprehension_n of_o happiness_n in_o any_o thing_n that_o he_o can_v attain_v to_o in_o this_o world_n and_o last_o he_o prove_v by_o several_a of_o a_o high_a nature_n than_o can_v be_v have_v in_o thing_n earthly_a the_o first_o reason_n be_v that_o he_o remain_v all_o his_o time_n a_o stranger_n to_o the_o sweetness_n of_o fellowship_n with_o god_n it_o be_v safe_a to_o understand_v solomon_n so_o here_o while_o he_o say_v he_o have_v see_v no_o good_a see_v he_o have_v learn_v of_o his_o father_n that_o man_n true_a good_a consist_v in_o that_o fellowship_n psal_n 4.6_o the_o second_o be_v that_o this_o man_n suppose_v to_o be_v so_o near_o his_o imaginary_a happiness_n must_v go_v to_o the_o same_o place_n with_o the_o abortive_a or_o those_o he_o judge_n most_o miserable_a he_o must_v meet_v with_o they_o in_o the_o grave_a or_o state_n of_o the_o dead_a which_o be_v here_o call_v that_o one_o place_n whether_o all_o man_n go_v and_o so_o what_o ever_o it_o be_v belong_v to_o this_o life_n only_o that_o difference_v one_o man_n from_o another_o that_o can_v make_v he_o a_o happy_a man_n ver_fw-la 6._o hence_o learn_v 1._o man_n destitute_a of_o save_a wisdom_n be_v very_o ingenious_a to_o find_v out_o pretence_n and_o seem_a excuse_n for_o their_o sinful_a course_n and_o therefore_o they_o that_o will_v reclaim_v such_o must_v trace_v they_o through_o these_o and_o discover_v the_o vanity_n of_o they_o for_o solomon_n here_o suppose_v the_o covetous_a worldling_n swell_v in_o riches_n to_o cover_v his_o excessive_a love_n to_o the_o world_n and_o his_o deprive_v himself_o of_o lawful_a comfort_n with_o the_o pretence_n of_o provide_v for_o his_o numerous_a offspring_n and_o his_o old_a age_n and_o prove_v that_o neither_o of_o these_o do_v lessen_v his_o sin_n or_o his_o misery_n for_o say_v he_o though_o he_o have_v a_o hundred_o child_n and_o live_v many_o year_n etc._n etc._n yet_o he_o be_v but_o a_o miserable_a caitif_n 2._o the_o lord_n may_v manifest_v his_o bounty_n to_o wicked_a man_n by_o heap_v upon_o they_o the_o choice_n of_o outward_a blessing_n and_o may_v promise_a reward_n that_o we_o be_v ready_a to_o make_v every_o appearance_n of_o a_o difficulty_n a_o sufficient_a ground_n to_o quit_v our_o duty_n for_o though_o the_o wether_n will_v often_o be_v lower_v and_o the_o air_n tempestuous_a when_o a_o little_a after_o the_o season_n will_v be_v favourable_a enough_o yet_o it_o be_v suppose_v that_o man_n be_v very_o apt_a by_o such_o small_a appearance_n of_o difficulty_n to_o be_v hinder_v from_o their_o duty_n while_o the_o wise_a man_n thus_o confute_v they_o even_o by_o relate_v their_o objection_n under_o this_o similitude_n he_o that_o observe_v the_o wind_n shall_v not_o sow_v and_o he_o that_o regard_v the_o cloud_n shall_v not_o reap_v 4._o they_o that_o do_v in_o earnest_a mind_n obedience_n to_o command_v duty_n and_o so_o will_v meet_v with_o the_o performance_n of_o the_o promise_n make_v thereunto_o must_v not_o lie_v in_o wait_n to_o observe_v difficulty_n a_o far_o off_o or_o find_v out_o what_o may_v discourage_v they_o in_o their_o duty_n nor_o must_v they_o regard_v difficulty_n when_o they_o be_v suggest_v to_o their_o mind_n but_o when_o the_o season_n and_o opportunity_n of_o duty_n come_v they_o must_v set_v to_o it_o whatever_o appearance_n of_o bad_a success_n there_o be_v else_o they_o will_v never_o be_v for_o the_o advancement_n of_o god_n honour_n in_o the_o discharge_n of_o their_o duty_n for_o he_o that_o observe_v or_o as_o the_o word_n signify_v watch_v anxious_o for_o the_o wind_n shall_v not_o sow_v and_o he_o that_o regard_v the_o cloud_n conclude_v it_o will_v be_v rain_n when_o they_o seem_v to_o threaten_v it_o shall_v never_o reap_v 5._o if_o man_n will_v reason_v in_o matter_n relate_v to_o their_o duty_n to_o god_n and_o their_o eternal_a welfare_n as_o they_o ordinary_o do_v in_o the_o matter_n of_o this_o life_n they_o will_v not_o be_v so_o often_o hinder_v from_o their_o duty_n or_o discourage_v in_o it_o but_o that_o reason_v which_o have_v no_o weight_n with_o they_o in_o thing_n of_o a_o earthly_a and_o small_a concernment_n the_o same_o seem_v most_o strong_a in_o reference_n to_o the_o great_a matter_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o another_o life_n for_o here_o it_o be_v suppose_v that_o man_n do_v not_o ordinary_o reason_n from_o appearance_n of_o rain_n or_o wind_n that_o they_o shall_v neglect_v to_o sow_n or_o reap_v and_o so_o of_o other_o thing_n else_o they_o will_v seldom_o or_o never_o do_v what_o they_o be_v seldom_o or_o never_o find_v to_o neglect_v in_o the_o ordinary_a season_n thereof_o and_o yet_o that_o they_o do_v too_o frequent_o from_o any_o appearance_n of_o hard_a event_n reason_n that_o they_o must_v neglect_v necessary_a duty_n particular_o that_o of_o charity_n here_o press_v he_o that_o observe_v the_o wind_n shall_v not_o sow_v and_o he_o that_o regard_v the_o cloud_n shall_v not_o reap_v 6._o there_o be_v so_o much_o wisdom_n manifest_v in_o all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n and_o we_o be_v so_o blind_a and_o spend_v so_o much_o of_o the_o little_a wit_n we_o have_v upon_o other_o thing_n that_o there_o be_v not_o any_o of_o these_o work_n that_o can_v be_v full_o comprehend_v by_o we_o this_o be_v clear_o suppose_v in_o the_o other_o branch_n of_o solomon_n confutation_n of_o the_o delay_n or_o neglect_v of_o duty_n upon_o appearance_n of_o bad_a success_n as_o thou_o know_v not_o etc._n etc._n so_o thou_o know_v not_o the_o work_n of_o god_n who_o make_v all_o 7._o man_n be_v of_o so_o wonderful_a a_o constitution_n that_o it_o will_v conquer_v his_o understanding_n to_o comprehend_v himself_o and_o therefore_o while_o he_o reflect_v upon_o himself_o he_o shall_v be_v humble_v that_o he_o can_v know_v but_o little_a of_o these_o two_o principal_a part_n whereof_o he_o be_v compose_v the_o way_n of_o the_o form_n of_o his_o soul_n its_o union_n with_o and_o act_v by_o the_o several_a organ_n of_o his_o body_n the_o way_n how_o his_o body_n be_v form_v in_o the_o womb_n how_o so_o many_o rare_a and_o far_o differ_v organ_n and_o member_n of_o so_o various_a operation_n shall_v arise_v out_o of_o so_o inconsiderable_a a_o matter_n of_o one_o kind_n and_o colour_n and_o that_o of_o the_o same_o bones_o shall_v grow_v without_o which_o man_n will_v creep_v upon_o the_o earth_n as_o worm_n do_v woman_n that_o bear_v child_n and_o all_o that_o be_v bear_v of_o woman_n shall_v humble_o admire_v and_o adore_v the_o wonderful_a art_n and_o wisdom_n of_o god_n in_o frame_v both_o their_o spirit_n and_o body_n and_o thereby_o be_v move_v to_o adventure_v upon_o duty_n to_o he_o be_v confident_a that_o he_o who_o make_v they_o so_o wonderful_o can_v easy_o prevent_v imminent_a hazard_n in_o the_o way_n of_o their_o duty_n and_o bring_v about_o the_o performance_n of_o his_o promise_n though_o they_o see_v not_o how_o the_o same_o can_v be_v for_o here_o the_o incomprehensible_a wisdom_n of_o god_n manifest_v in_o form_v of_o the_o spirit_n and_o body_n of_o man_n be_v bring_v as_o a_o motive_n to_o the_o duty_n of_o charity_n and_o to_o make_v man_n charitable_a so_o to_o speak_v of_o god_n that_o he_o can_v easy_o prevent_v their_o fear_n of_o loss_n and_o want_n make_v up_o their_o loss_n and_o make_v good_a his_o own_o promise_n as_o thou_o know_v not_o the_o way_n of_o the_o spirit_n nor_o how_o the_o bone_n grow_v in_o the_o womb_n of_o she_o that_o be_v with_o child_n so_o thou_o know_v not_o the_o work_n of_o god_n that_o make_v all_o thing_n 8._o however_o our_o ignorance_n of_o god_n way_n of_o work_v so_o far_o as_o the_o same_o may_v be_v know_v aught_o to_o humble_v we_o yet_o the_o knowledge_n of_o our_o ignorance_n may_v be_v useful_a for_o we_o and_o may_v teach_v we_o to_o follow_v our_o duty_n in_o hope_n of_o the_o promise_a reward_n though_o we_o see_v no_o probability_n that_o the_o same_o may_v be_v bring_v about_o for_o solomon_n bring_v our_o ignorance_n of_o god_n work_v as_o a_o argument_n to_o convince_v we_o of_o folly_n in_o desist_v from_o duty_n because_o we_o see_v not_o how_o we_o shall_v be_v reward_v as_o he_o have_v promise_v and_o to_o put_v we_o to_o our_o duty_n in_o every_o opportunity_n thereof_o consider_v that_o god_n who_o be_v infinite_a in_o power_n and_o wisdom_n can_v easy_o prevent_v our_o fear_n of_o loss_n or_o hazard_n in_o the_o way_n of_o our_o duty_n and_o bring_v about_o the_o performance_n of_o his_o own_o promise_n though_o we_o see_v not_o how_o it_o may_v be_v do_v as_o thou_o knome_v not_o the_o way_n of_o the_o spirit_n etc._n etc._n so_o thou_o know_v not_o the_o work_n of_o god_n who_o make_v all_o 9_o the_o consideration_n of_o god_n infinite_a power_n shall_v make_v we_o hope_v against_o all_o appearance_n of_o the_o contrary_a that_o his_o promise_n shall_v be_v make_v out_o to_o we_o and_o so_o follow_v our_o duty_n though_o we_o see_v no_o appearance_n of_o success_n for_o while_o solomon_n be_v discover_v and_o guard_v against_o the_o cause_n of_o our_o neglect_a duty_n namely_o our_o ignorance_n of_o god_n way_n of_o work_v in_o bring_v about_o the_o performance_n of_o his_o promise_n which_o be_v often_o contrary_a to_o appearance_n he_o describe_v the_o lord_n from_o his_o infinite_a create_a power_n thou_o know_v not_o the_o work_n of_o he_o who_o make_v all_o 10._o god_n efficacious_a providence_n in_o bring_v about_o the_o performance_n of_o his_o promise_n as_o it_o be_v secret_a and_o unseen_a to_o we_o so_o it_o operat_o constant_o and_o that_o so_o certain_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o miscarriage_n of_o the_o effect_n intend_v by_o he_o therefore_o be_v the_o same_o here_o set_v forth_o by_o his_o way_n of_o form_v the_o spirit_n and_o body_n of_o man_n which_o as_o it_o be_v
