the_o public_a according_a as_o we_o desire_v if_o we_o be_v discontent_a at_o that_o it_o will_v exceed_o aggravate_v our_o sin_n god_n may_v say_v what_o shall_v i_o bestow_v such_o mercy_n upon_o a_o people_n and_o yet_o if_o they_o have_v not_o every_o thing_n they_o will_v have_v they_o will_v be_v discontent_a oh_o its_o exceed_a evil_a so_o in_o particular_a the_o mercy_n that_o concern_v thyself_o thy_o family_n if_o thou_o will_v consider_v thou_o have_v a_o great_a many_o more_o mercy_n than_o thou_o have_v affliction_n i_o dare_v bold_o aver_v it_o concern_v any_o one_o in_o this_o congregation_n suppose_v thy_o affliction_n be_v what_o they_o will_v there_o be_v never_o a_o one_o of_o you_o but_o that_o have_v more_o mercy_n than_o affliction_n object_n you_o will_v say_v i_o but_o you_o do_v not_o know_v what_o our_o affliction_n be_v our_o affliction_n be_v so_o as_o you_o do_v not_o conceive_v of_o they_o because_o you_o feel_v they_o not_o answ_n though_o i_o can_v know_v what_o your_o affliction_n be_v yet_o i_o know_v what_o your_o mercy_n be_v and_o i_o know_v they_o be_v so_o great_a as_o i_o be_o sure_a there_o can_v be_v no_o affliction_n in_o this_o world_n so_o great_a as_o the_o mercy_n you_o have_v if_o it_o we●e_v but_o this_o mercy_n that_o you_o have_v this_o day_n of_o grace_n and_o salvation_n continue_v to_o you_o it_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n than_o any_o affliction_n set_v any_o affliction_n by_o this_o mercy_n and_o see_v which_o will_v weigh_v heavy_a this_o be_v certain_o great_a than_o any_o affliction_n that_o you_o have_v the_o day_n of_o grace_n and_o salvation_n that_o you_o be_v not_o now_o in_o hell_n this_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n that_o you_o have_v the_o sound_n of_o the_o gospel_n yet_o in_o your_o ear_n that_o you_o have_v the_o use_n of_o your_o reason_n this_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n than_o your_o affliction_n that_o you_o have_v the_o use_n of_o your_o limb_n your_o sense_n that_o you_o have_v the_o health_n of_o your_o body_n health_n of_o body_n be_v a_o great_a mercy_n than_o poverty_n be_v a_o affliction_n there_o be_v no_o man_n that_o be_v rich_a but_o if_o he_o be_v wise_a if_o he_o have_v a_o sickly_a body_n he_o will_v part_v with_o all_o his_o riches_n that_o he_o may_v have_v his_o health_n therefore_o thy_o mercy_n be_v more_o than_o thy_o affliction_n we_o find_v in_o scripture_n how_o the_o holy_a ghost_n do_v aggravate_v the_o sin_n of_o discontent_n from_o the_o consideration_n of_o mercy_n you_o have_v a_o notable_a scripture_n for_o it_o in_o the_o 16_o of_o numb_a 8._o verse_n etc._n etc._n it_o be_v a_o speech_n of_o moses_n to_o korah_n and_o his_o company_n when_o they_o murmur_v and_o moses_n say_v unto_o korah_n hear_v i_o pray_v you_o you_o son_n of_o levi_n there_o be_v somewhat_o that_o you_o be_v son_n of_o levi_n seem_v it_o but_o a_o small_a thing_n unto_o you_o that_o the_o god_n of_o israel_n have_v separate_v you_o from_o the_o congregation_n of_o israel_n to_o bring_v you_o near_o to_o himself_o to_o do_v the_o service_n of_o the_o tabernacle_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o to_o stand_v before_o the_o congregation_n to_o minister_v unto_o they_o korah_n and_o his_o company_n be_v murmur_v but_o mark_v how_o moses_n aggravate_v this_o seem_v it_o a_o small_a thing_n unto_o you_o that_o the_o god_n of_o israel_n have_v separate_v you_o from_o the_o congregation_n of_o israel_n to_o bring_v you_o near_o to_o himself_o to_o do_v the_o service_n of_o the_o tabernacle_n of_o the_o lord_n etc._n etc._n you_o see_v it_o be_v a_o great_a honour_n that_o god_n put_v upon_o a_o man_n a_o great_a mercy_n that_o he_o do_v bestow_v upon_o any_o man_n to_o separate_v he_o from_o other_o for_o himself_o to_o come_v near_o to_o he_o to_o employ_v he_o in_o the_o service_n of_o the_o tabernacle_n to_o minister_v to_o the_o congregation_n in_o holy_a thing_n this_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n and_o indeed_o it_o be_v such_o a_o mercy_n as_o one_o will_v think_v there_o shall_v be_v none_o that_o god_n bestow_v such_o a_o mercy_n upon_o that_o shall_v have_v a_o murmur_a heart_n for_o any_o affliction_n it_o be_v true_a many_o minister_n of_o god_n they_o meet_v with_o hard_a thing_n that_o may_v discourage_v they_o and_o trouble_v and_o grieve_v their_o spirit_n but_o now_o this_o consideration_n that_o god_n be_v please_v to_o employ_v they_o in_o such_o a_o service_n near_o to_o himself_o that_o though_o they_o can_v do_v good_a to_o themselves_o yet_o they_o may_v do_v good_a to_o other_o this_o shall_v quiet_v they_o and_o yet_o in_o the_o 10._o verse_n and_o he_o have_v bring_v thou_o near_o to_o he_o and_o all_o thy_o brethren_n the_o son_n of_o levi_n with_o thou_o and_o seek_v you_o the_o priesthood_n also_o have_v not_o you_o enough_o already_o but_o still_o you_o be_v discontent_v with_o what_o you_o have_v and_o must_v have_v more_o seek_v you_o yet_o more_o seek_v you_o the_o priesthood_n also_o for_o which_o cause_n both_o thou_o and_o all_o thy_o company_n be_v gather_v together_o against_o the_o lord_n and_o what_o be_v aaron_n that_o you_o murmur_v against_o he_o gracious_a to_o other_o three_o be_v thy_o affliction_n great_a than_o other_o then_o in_o this_o thou_o have_v a_o opportunity_n to_o honour_n god_n more_o than_o other_o so_o thou_o shall_v consider_v do_v god_n afflict_v i_o more_o than_o other_o man_n god_n give_v i_o a_o opportunity_n in_o this_o to_o honour_v he_o in_o this_o affliction_n more_o than_o other_o man_n to_o exercise_v first_o you_o must_v know_v that_o we_o be_v not_o to_o choose_v our_o own_o rod_n that_o god_n shall_v beat_v we_o with_o second_o it_o may_v be_v if_o it_o be_v any_o other_o than_o it_o be_v it_o be_v not_o so_o fit_a for_o thou_o as_o this_o be_v it_o may_v be_v therefore_o god_n choose_v it_o because_o it_o be_v the_o most_o cross_a to_o thou_o as_o seeing_z it_z most_o suitable_a for_o the_o purge_n out_o of_o that_o humour_n that_o be_v in_o thou_o if_o a_o patient_a come_v to_o take_v physic_n and_o find_v himself_o sick_a by_o it_o shall_v he_o say_v oh_o if_o it_o be_v any_o other_o potion_n i_o can_v bear_v it_o it_o may_v be_v if_o it_o be_v any_o other_o than_o it_o be_v it_o will_v not_o fit_v thy_o disease_n yea_o if_o it_o do_v not_o work_v as_o it_o do_v it_o will_v not_o fit_v thy_o disease_n so_o when_o thou_o say_v of_o a_o affliction_n if_o it_o be_v any_o other_o than_o it_o be_v thou_o can_v bear_v it_o do_v but_o answer_v thyself_o with_o this_o it_o may_v be_v if_o it_o be_v any_o other_o than_o it_o be_v it_o will_v not_o be_v fit_a for_o i_o it_o will_v not_o hit_v right_a to_o that_o sinful_a humour_n that_o there_o be_v in_o my_o soul_n and_o therefore_o god_n see_v this_o to_o be_v the_o fit_a and_o the_o most_o suitable_a for_o i_o three_o know_v that_o this_o be_v the_o excellency_n of_o grace_n in_o a_o christian_n to_o be_v fit_v for_o any_o condition_n not_o only_o to_o say_v if_o it_o be_v this_o or_o that_o but_o if_o it_o be_v any_o as_o now_o a_o mariner_n if_o he_o have_v skill_n he_o will_v not_o say_v if_o it_o be_v any_o other_o wind_n but_o this_o if_o the_o wind_n do_v blow_v in_o any_o point_n but_o this_o i_o can_v tell_v how_o to_o manage_v my_o ship_n i_o can_v show_v skill_n in_o other_o point_n but_o not_o in_o this_o will_v not_o mariner_n laugh_v at_o such_o a_o one_o it_o will_v be_v a_o shame_n for_o he_o to_o say_v that_o he_o have_v skill_n in_o any_o other_o point_v but_o this_o so_o it_o shall_v be_v a_o shame_n for_o a_o christian_n to_o say_v that_o he_o have_v skill_n in_o any_o other_o affliction_n but_o this_o a_o christian_a shall_v be_v able_a to_o manage_v his_o ship_n if_o the_o wind_n blow_v any_o way_n to_o guide_v his_o soul_n any_o way_n the_o four_o and_o last_o answer_n be_v this_o know_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v reward_n and_o crown_n for_o all_o grace_n and_o for_o the_o honour_v they_o in_o all_o condition_n it_o may_v be_v in_o such_o a_o way_n as_o thou_o think_v thou_o can_v honour_v god_n god_n have_v a_o crown_n for_o that_o and_o god_n have_v another_o crown_n to_o set_v upon_o the_o head_n of_o those_o that_o honour_v he_o in_o such_o a_o way_n as_o this_o be_v yea_o he_o have_v several_a sort_n of_o crown_n as_o i_o may_v so_o say_v in_o heaven_n and_o those_o crown_n he_o must_v put_v upon_o some_o body_n head_n and_o therefore_o he_o exercise_v thou_o in_o variety_n of_o condition_n that_o so_o thou_o may_v have_v the_o several_a reward_n and_o crown_n that_o god_n have_v to_o reward_v and_o crown_v those_o that_o be_v faithful_a in_o several_a condition_n a_o nine_o plea_n oh_o but_o the_o condition_n that_o god_n have_v put_v i_o in_o make_v i_o to_o be_v unservicable_a and_o this_o trouble_v i_o it_o be_v true_a if_o it_o be_v only_o a_o affliction_n and_o trouble_n to_o myself_o it_o be_v not_o so_o much_o but_o i_o be_o put_v into_o such_o a_o condition_n by_o this_o affliction_n as_o i_o be_o unservicable_a and_o be_o like_a to_o do_v god_n no_o further_a service_n god_n put_v i_o into_o a_o mean_a estate_n and_o what_o good_a can_v i_o do_v and_o how_o burdensome_a be_v my_o life_n to_o i_o because_o i_o can_v do_v no_o service_n for_o god_n and_o this_o be_v grievous_a to_o i_o indeed_o if_o it_o he_o true_a that_o this_o be_v thy_o great_a grief_n it_o be_v a_o good_a sign_n if_o thou_o can_v say_v as_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n above_o all_o affliction_n here_o in_o this_o world_n to_o be_v lay_v aside_o &_o not_o to_o be_v employ_v in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n i_o account_v that_o the_o great_a affliction_n i_o have_v rather_o bear_v any_o trouble_n in_o the_o world_n so_o i_o may_v do_v more_o service_n then_o to_o be_v free_v from_o trouble_n and_o to_o be_v lay_v aside_o and_o do_v little_a service_n can_v thou_o say_v so_o it_o be_v a_o good_a sign_n of_o grace_n for_o a_o man_n to_o account_v affliction_n to_o be_v great_a because_o he_o can_v do_v the_o lord_n but_o little_a service_n few_o man_n account_v that_o no_o affliction_n at_o all_o but_o yet_o there_o may_v be_v a_o temptation_n in_o this_o to_o murmur_v at_o god_n dispose_v when_o your_o call_n be_v low_a and_o mean_a and_o you_o can_v do_v little_a service_n this_o be_v many_o time_n a_o temptation_n to_o those_o that_o be_v poor_a those_o that_o be_v servant_n and_o those_o that_o be_v of_o weak_a part_n and_o be_v fain_o to_o work_v hard_a to_o provide_v bread_n for_o their_o family_n it_o be_v many_o time_n a_o grievous_a burden_n to_o they_o to_o think_v such_o man_n the_o lord_n use_v in_o public_a service_n and_o i_o live_v in_o a_o obscure_a way_n and_o to_o what_o purpose_n be_v my_o life_n first_o to_o help_v against_o this_o temptation_n that_o thou_o may_v not_o murmur_v against_o this_o condition_n do_v but_o consider_v though_o thy_o condition_n be_v low_a and_o mean_a yet_o thou_o be_v in_o the_o body_n thou_o be_v a_o member_n of_o the_o body_n though_o thou_o be_v but_o a_o mean_a member_n the_o toe_n and_o the_o finger_n have_v its_o use_n in_o the_o body_n though_o it_o be_v not_o the_o eye_n though_o it_o be_v not_o the_o head_n or_o the_o heart_n yet_o it_o have_v its_o use_n in_o the_o body_n and_o it_o be_v a_o excellent_a
