jesus_n be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n 5.5_o 1_o john_n 5.5_o now_o for_o the_o proof_n of_o so_o glorious_a a_o truth_n the_o apostle_n produce_v six_o witness_n and_o rank_n they_o into_o two_o order_n some_o bear_v record_n in_o heaven_n and_o some_o bear_v witness_n on_o earth_n some_o bear_v witness_n on_o earth_n as_o ver_fw-la 8._o 8._o ver._n 8._o of_o this_o chapter_n there_o be_v three_o my_o text_n there_o be_v three_o that_o bear_v record_n in_o heaven_n the_o father_n the_o word_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o these_o three_o be_v one_o in_o the_o word_n you_o may_v take_v notice_n of_o these_o particular_n 1._o the_o number_n of_o the_o heavenly_a witness_n or_o the_o number_n of_o those_o witness_n that_o bear_v record_n in_o heaven_n viz._n three_o 2._o their_o dignity_n or_o excellency_n they_o be_v in_o heaven_n 3._o their_o act_n they_o bear_v record_n 4._o the_o name_n of_o the_o witness_n the_o father_n the_o word_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n 5._o their_o unity_n and_o these_o three_o be_v one_o i_o will_v observe_v from_o the_o context_n observe_v that_o it_o be_v not_o a_o easy_a matter_n to_o believe_v that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n but_o god_n the_o father_n and_o god_n the_o son_n have_v the_o same_o individual_a numerical_a nature_n use_v let_v i_o entreat_v you_o that_o you_o will_v attend_v unto_o the_o record_n and_o testimony_n that_o be_v give_v by_o those_o witness_n and_o for_o your_o encouragement_n consider_v the_o difference_n between_o these_o heavenly_a witness_n in_o the_o text_n and_o earthly_a with_o ness_n and_o so_o i_o shall_v proceed_v to_o that_o which_o i_o main_o intend_v 1._o on_o earth_n there_o may_v be_v some_o single_a or_o one_o witness_n but_o here_o be_v no_o less_o than_o three_o be_v silent_a or_o it_o may_v be_v bear_v false_a witness_n but_o these_o bear_v record_n and_o their_o record_n be_v true_a 5._o earthly_a witness_n may_v not_o agree_v in_o their_o witness_n as_o the_o witness_n bring_v against_o christ_n but_o there_o be_v a_o sweet_a consent_n and_o agreement_n among_o these_o witness_n for_o these_o three_o be_v one_o 6._o whereas_o earthly_a witness_n although_o they_o may_v be_v one_o in_o regard_n of_o consent_n yet_o they_o be_v not_o one_o in_o regard_n of_o essence_n every_o man_n have_v one_o particular_a individual_a essence_n of_o his_o and_o therefore_o the_o socinian_n who_o deny_v the_o deity_n of_o the_o word_n and_o of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n will_v persuade_v you_o to_o believe_v that_o these_o word_n be_v to_o be_v expound_v thus_o these_o three_o be_v one_o that_o be_v say_v he_o these_o three_o agree_v in_o one_o but_o that_o this_o be_v not_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o phrase_n appear_v by_o the_o variation_n of_o it_o
