distress_a family_n the_o devil_n never_o fail_v to_o lay_v hold_n on_o this_o occasion_n to_o divert_v his_o mind_n from_o the_o business_n of_o his_o salvation_n if_o therefore_o the_o minister_n find_v this_o to_o be_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o patient_n have_v first_o exhort_v those_o that_o be_v present_a humble_o to_o implore_v almighty_a god_n to_o allay_v his_o disquiet_n and_o render_v his_o mind_n free_a and_o compose_v to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v think_v of_o nothing_o but_o eternity_n let_v he_o make_v use_n of_o the_o follow_a mean_n for_o comfort_v he_o and_o in_o the_o first_o place_n let_v he_o cause_v all_o such_o person_n to_o withdraw_v whether_o wife_n or_o child_n or_o other_o who_o presence_n may_v attract_v the_o patient_n affection_n to_o this_o world_n and_o keep_v up_o those_o melancholy_a thought_n he_o be_v in_o take_v care_n to_o prevent_v as_o much_o as_o possible_a his_o be_v speak_v to_o about_o they_o further_o than_o he_o shall_v think_v of_o absolute_a necessity_n with_o regard_n to_o their_o future_a settlement_n after_o which_o he_o may_v proceed_v to_o inform_v he_o that_o this_o disquiet_n of_o his_o be_v not_o only_o useless_a both_o to_o himself_o and_o family_n but_o most_o prejudicial_a to_o his_o soul_n in_o that_o it_o obstruct_v its_o due_a preparation_n for_o death_n that_o the_o poverty_n under_o which_o he_o leave_v his_o family_n be_v a_o evil_a that_o soon_o or_o late_o will_v have_v a_o end_n but_o the_o torment_n of_o the_o other_o world_n have_v none_o and_o that_o therefore_o in_o these_o last_o moment_n of_o his_o life_n he_o ought_v to_o entertain_v no_o other_o thought_n but_o how_o to_o avoid_v his_o own_o eternal_a misery_n that_o his_o family_n be_v under_o the_o conduct_n of_o the_o divine_a providence_n that_o love_v they_o and_o will_v watch_v over_o they_o and_o bestow_v on_o they_o temporal_a good_n sufficient_a perhaps_o too_o great_a a_o measure_n thereof_o so_o that_o instead_o of_o afflict_v himself_o with_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o sad_a condition_n he_o leave_v they_o in_o he_o ought_v on_o the_o contrary_a to_o rejoice_v in_o god_n and_o to_o lift_v up_o his_o heart_n and_o mind_n to_o he_o and_o to_o beg_v his_o grace_n to_o forget_v and_o reject_v whatever_o respect_v not_o his_o everlasting_a salvation_n with_o full_a persuasion_n that_o god_n to_o who_o he_o be_v to_o recommend_v his_o wife_n and_o child_n as_o christ_n when_o ready_a to_o die_v do_v his_o disciple_n will_v be_v their_o protector_n and_o helper_n and_o defender_n who_o be_v also_o more_o their_o father_n than_o he_o himself_o be_v of_o his_o own_o child_n and_o govern_v all_o thing_n both_o in_o heaven_n and_o on_o earth_n by_o his_o almighty_a providence_n will_v supply_v they_o with_o whatsoever_o be_v necessary_a as_o well_o for_o their_o body_n as_o their_o soul_n this_o trust_n and_o confidence_n the_o minister_n shall_v say_v to_o he_o will_v be_v more_o available_a to_o the_o good_a of_o your_o family_n than_o all_o the_o disquiet_v thought_n you_o can_v entertain_v about_o they_o for_o god_n be_v merciful_a and_o will_v grant_v we_o every_o thing_n we_o ask_v according_a to_o his_o will._n moreover_o remember_v that_o he_o who_o undertake_v a_o long_a journey_n shall_v not_o carry_v aught_o about_o he_o that_o be_v combersom_a you_o be_v setting-out_a upon_o your_o journey_n to_o eternity_n and_o may_v within_o a_o little_a time_n appear_v before_o the_o tribunal_n of_o god_n take_v upon_o you_o therefore_o no_o such_o unnecessary_a burden_n as_o that_o of_o the_o care_n of_o your_o wife_n and_o child_n peradventure_o they_o have_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o your_o commit_v many_o sin_n in_o the_o course_n of_o your_o life_n beware_v they_o be_v not_o that_o of_o your_o undo_n now_o disburden_v your_o heart_n of_o this_o heavy_a load_n that_o so_o it_o may_v be_v able_a to_o raise_v itself_o up_o to_o god_n and_o savour_v nothing_o but_o thing_n eternal_a consider_v
