for_o example_n in_o the_o nine_o and_o twenty_o chapter_n of_o isaiah_n at_o the_o thirteen_o verse_n we_o have_v these_o word_n and_o their_o fear_n towards_o i_o be_v teach_v by_o the_o precept_n of_o man_n which_o word_n when_o our_o saviour_n christ_n expound_v in_o matth._n 15.9_o he_o take_v the_o word_n fear_v for_o worship_n say_v in_o vain_a they_o worship_v i_o teach_v for_o doctrine_n man_n tradition_n so_o also_o in_o another_o place_n when_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n have_v sin_v it_o be_v say_v they_o fear_v other_o god_n as_o be_v write_v in_o the_o second_o book_n of_o the_o king_n the_o seventeen_o chapter_n at_o the_o seven_o verse_n they_o fear_v other_o god_n that_o be_v they_o worship_v other_o god_n and_o in_o more_o particular_a that_o it_o must_v be_v take_v so_o here_o in_o this_o place_n the_o word_n follow_v at_o the_o five_o verse_n do_v make_v more_o evident_a for_o there_o the_o prophet_n speak_v of_o the_o image_n of_o the_o heathen_a which_o they_o make_v erect_v and_o worship_v say_v thus_o fear_v they_o not_o for_o they_o stand_v up_o as_o the_o palmtree_n but_o they_o speak_v not_o etc._n etc._n by_o all_o which_o a_o man_n will_v think_v that_o such_o indeed_o be_v the_o signification_n of_o the_o word_n fear_v in_o this_o very_a place_n and_o that_o it_o be_v needless_a to_o seek_v any_o other_o interpretation_n thereof_o but_o i_o shall_v show_v the_o contrary_a and_o evident_o declare_v that_o it_o be_v not_o so_o for_o first_o in_o justification_n of_o that_o read_n which_o render_v the_o text_n be_v not_o afraid_a of_o the_o sign_n of_o heaven_n or_o be_v not_o dismay_v at_o they_o it_o be_v a_o read_n which_o be_v exact_o suitable_a to_o the_o hebrew_n word_n here_o use_v which_o do_v certain_o signify_v a_o passive_a surprisal_n or_o possession_n with_o fear_n and_o not_o a_o active_a as_o do_v that_o aforesaid_a in_o isai_n 29.13_o and_o can_v therefore_o in_o itself_o import_v nothing_o that_o be_v pertinent_a to_o such_o a_o fear_n as_o simple_o have_v relation_n to_o adoration_n for_o though_o both_o the_o heathen_a and_o jew_n also_o be_v guilty_a of_o worship_v the_o host_n of_o heaven_n for_o which_o they_o be_v elsewhere_o reprove_v as_o i_o shall_v show_v you_o by_o and_o by_o yet_o the_o word_n here_o use_v employ_v no_o such_o thing_n nor_o be_v ever_o so_o to_o be_v take_v except_o as_o some_o think_v the_o object_n of_o fear_n when_o it_o be_v name_v be_v either_o put_v for_o the_o true_a god_n or_o for_o some_o idol_n to_o be_v worship_v in_o the_o stead_n of_o god_n then_o second_o for_o that_o also_o at_o the_o five_o verse_n of_o this_o chapter_n before_o mention_v where_o idolatrous_a fear_n of_o worship_n of_o image_n be_v forbid_v the_o phrase_n be_v not_o the_o same_o for_o the_o phrase_n be_v alter_v and_o be_v there_o no_o passive_a surprisal_n or_o possession_n with_o fear_n of_o astonishment_n as_o in_o the_o former_a word_n at_o the_o second_o verse_n but_o be_v there_o a_o active_a fear_n such_o as_o be_v pertinent_a to_o adoration_n as_o the_o word_n there_o use_v have_v declare_v the_o word_n therefore_o not_o be_v the_o same_o in_o both_o place_n cause_v the_o sense_n and_o meaning_n not_o to_o be_v the_o same_o in_o one_o place_n that_o it_o be_v in_o the_o other_o but_o that_o the_o one_o differ_v from_o the_o other_o even_o as_o far_o as_o do_v be_v from_o suffer_v howbeit_o i_o neither_o can_v nor_o will_v deny_v but_o that_o passive_a fear_n drive_v superstitious_a man_n many_o time_n to_o that_o active_a fear_n of_o adoration_n for_o though_o it_o be_v certain_o true_a that_o god_n almighty_n make_v the_o sun_n moon_n and_o other_o star_n yet_o such_o be_v the_o folly_n of_o some_o among_o man_n to_o make_v as_o also_o in_o some_o time_n before_o be_v guilty_a of_o which_o
place_v in_o he_o who_o have_v make_v the_o heaven_n and_o the_o earth_n with_o all_o that_o therein_o be_v the_o heathen_n indeed_o be_v afraid_a because_o they_o look_v only_o upon_o the_o secondary_a cause_n but_o you_o that_o be_v god_n child_n may_v look_v upon_o god_n the_o first_o cause_n and_o therefore_o though_o they_o be_v yet_o you_o need_v not_o be_v afraid_a of_o the_o
