thing_n and_o to_o take_v all_o occasion_n to_o prostrate_v themselves_o before_o his_o throne_n of_o grace_n now_o those_o that_o will_v maintain_v this_o pray_a temper_n must_v be_v especial_o careful_a of_o two_o thing_n world_n 1._o that_o they_o immerse_v not_o themselves_o in_o the_o world_n first_o that_o they_o do_v not_o too_o much_o ingulf_n themselves_o in_o the_o business_n and_o that_o we_o have_v dare_o provoke_v he_o by_o some_o wilful_a offence_n i_o may_v appeal_v to_o your_o own_o experience_n in_o this_o do_v not_o your_o conscience_n fly_v in_o your_o face_n do_v of_o sin_n that_o frequent_o commit_v that_o which_o i_o know_v to_o be_v sin_n shall_v i_o dare_v to_o lift_v up_o unclean_a hand_n before_o his_o pure_a and_o holy_a eye_n or_o to_o speak_v to_o he_o in_o prayer_n when_o as_o those_o sin_n that_o rancour_n and_o fester_v in_o my_o conscience_n must_v needs_o make_v my_o breath_n unsavoury_a and_o noisome_a to_o he_o will_v the_o lord_n hear_v such_o prayer_n or_o if_o he_o do_v hear_v they_o will_v he_o not_o account_v they_o a_o abomination_n you_o now_o who_o conscience_n thus_o accuse_v you_o do_v you_o not_o find_v such_o reflection_n as_o these_o to_o be_v great_a deadning_n to_o your_o heart_n such_o damp_n to_o duty_n such_o clipping_n of_o the_o wing_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o take_n off_o of_o the_o wheel_n of_o the_o soul_n so_o that_o it_o drive_v on_o but_o slow_o and_o heavy_o in_o the_o performance_n of_o that_o duty_n certain_o gild_n be_v the_o great_a impediment_n to_o duty_n in_o the_o world_n for_o it_o take_v off_o from_o the_o freeness_n and_o filialness_n of_o our_o spirit_n and_o fill_v we_o with_o distrust_n diffidence_n and_o a_o slavish_a fear_n of_o come_v before_o god_n rather_o as_o in_o heaven_n it_o give_v our_o thought_n a_o lift_v to_o heaven_n now_o this_o do_v not_o imply_v that_o god_n do_v no_o where_n hear_v our_o prayer_n but_o only_o in_o heaven_n but_o how_o then_o why_o be_v this_o phrase_n use_v for_o these_o two_o reason_n first_o because_o heaven_n be_v the_o most_o glorious_a place_n there_o god_n especial_o have_v establish_v his_o throne_n of_o grace_n and_o sit_v upon_o it_o now_o because_o it_o be_v most_o glorious_a and_o majestic_a and_o since_o god_n be_v there_o to_o hear_v suit_n and_o receive_v petition_n that_o be_v tender_v up_o by_o all_o his_o servant_n here_o on_o earth_n therefore_o the_o scripture_n direct_v we_o to_o that_o most_o glorious_a and_o celestial_a place_n hear_v thou_o in_o heaven_n hence_o we_o have_v that_o expression_n act_v 10.4_o thy_o prayer_n and_o thy_o alm_n be_v come_v up_o for_o a_o memorial_n before_o god_n certain_o if_o our_o prayer_n shall_v not_o be_v hear_v till_o they_o come_v to_o thing_n to_o have_v our_o prayer_n hear_v therefore_o he_o represent_v himself_o to_o we_o array_v in_o all_o his_o glory_n second_o our_o prayer_n be_v direct_v to_o god_n in_o heaven_n because_o though_o he_o hear_v they_o wherever_o they_o be_v utter_v yet_o he_o no_o where_n hear_v they_o with_o acceptation_n but_o in_o heaven_n only_o our_o prayer_n be_v accept_v by_o god_n because_o they_o be_v hear_v in_o heaven_n thy_o prayer_n be_v not_o accept_v by_o god_n because_o god_n hear_v they_o upon_o earth_n as_o they_o be_v hear_v in_o thy_o closet_n or_o as_o they_o be_v hear_v in_o thy_o heart_n but_o only_o as_o they_o be_v hear_v in_o heaven_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o that_o prayer_n be_v acceptable_a only_o as_o they_o be_v present_v before_o god_n in_o the_o mediation_n and_o intercession_n of_o jesus_n christ_n he_o must_v mingle_v they_o with_o the_o incense_n of_o his_o merit_n before_o they_o can_v ascend_v up_o before_o god_n as_o a_o sweet_a savour_n now_o christ_n perform_v his_o mediatory_a office_n no_o where_o but_o in_o heaven_n for_o though_o as_o god_n he_o be_v everywhere_o present_n as_o the_o father_n be_v and_o therefore_o hear_v your_o prayer_n wheresoever_o they_o be_v put_v up_o yet_o as_o mediator_n they_o be_v only_o hear_v in_o heaven_n by_o he_o and_o he_o hear_v no_o prayer_n but_o the_o prayer_n of_o his_o people_n as_o he_o be_v mediator_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o comfort_n to_o you_o that_o christ_n hear_v your_o prayer_n as_o he_o be_v god_n only_o for_o so_o he_o do_v and_o can_v but_o do_v servant_n unless_o thou_o hear_v my_o prayer_n a_o second_o time_n repeat_v over_o to_o thou_o in_o the_o intercession_n and_o mediation_n of_o jesus_n christ_n in_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o say_v meditation_n to_o prepare_v our_o heart_n to_o duty_n and_o to_o compose_v they_o in_o duty_n to_o be_v much_o ponder_v the_o omnipresence_n of_o god_n to_o think_v that_o i_o be_o with_o god_n he_o be_v present_a in_o the_o room_n with_o i_o even_o in_o the_o congregation_n with_o i_o and_o likewise_o in_o my_o closet_n and_o in_o all_o my_o converse_n and_o deal_n in_o the_o world_n how_o can_v it_o be_v possible_a for_o that_o man_n to_o be_v frothy_a and_o vain_a that_o keep_v this_o thought_n alive_a in_o his_o heart_n if_o the_o presence_n of_o some_o earthly_a person_n strike_v a_o awe_n in_o our_o heart_n when_o we_o come_v before_o they_o how_o much_o more_o shall_v the_o consideration_n of_o god_n presence_n affect_v we_o with_o a_o holy_a fear_n suppose_v a_o angel_n shall_v fly_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o we_o that_o be_v here_o present_a with_o a_o rush_n and_o dazzle_a glory_n how_o will_v it_o make_v all_o our_o heart_n beat_v and_o throb_v within_o we_o it_o will_v make_v we_o soon_o abandon_v all_o those_o vain_a thought_n that_o now_o we_o feed_v upon_o those_o thought_n that_o eat_v out_o the_o heart_n and_o life_n of_o duty_n how_o much_o more_o shall_v it_o affect_v we_o and_o fill_v we_o with_o holy_a fear_n that_o god_n be_v now_o and_o always_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o we_o who_o glory_n stain_v and_o sully_n the_o beauty_n and_o extinguish_v the_o light_n of_o angel_n oh_o that_o god_n that_o be_v always_o present_a with_o we_o shall_v be_v worship_v and_o serve_v with_o a_o holy_a fear_n and_o remember_v with_o the_o great_a veneration_n now_o to_o imprint_v this_o the_o more_o deep_o i_o shall_v suggest_v two_o or_o three_o particular_n first_o because_o god_n be_v in_o all_o thing_n therefore_o he_o see_v and_o know_v all_o thing_n the_o
