it_o apparent_o conduce_v more_o to_o the_o please_a of_o god_n and_o your_o salvation_n that_o will_v be_v the_o best_a ministry_n and_o mean_n that_o tend_v most_o to_o this_o and_o so_o you_o will_v estimate_v all_o thing_n else_o for_o its_o most_o evident_a that_o it_o be_v the_o end_n that_o prize_v the_o mean_n according_a as_o they_o be_v suit_v to_o the_o attainment_n of_o that_o 2._o our_o crucifixion_n to_o the_o world_n hereby_o so_o that_o the_o positive_a part_n of_o the_o doctrine_n contain_v these_o two_o branch_n which_o i_o shall_v handle_v distinct_o before_o i_o speak_v to_o the_o negative_a part_n 1._o true_a christian_n that_o be_v crucify_a to_o the_o world_n and_o the_o world_n to_o they_o by_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n may_v and_o must_v glory_n therein_o 2._o yet_o so_o as_o that_o their_o glory_v must_v be_v principal_o in_o christ_n and_o their_o own_o mortification_n must_v be_v glory_v in_o but_o as_o the_o fruit_n of_o his_o cross._n for_o the_o first_o part_n it_o must_v be_v understand_v with_o these_o necessary_a limitation_n 1._o as_o glory_v signify_v a_o self-ascribing_a and_o proud_a conceit_n of_o our_o own_o mortification_n and_o be_v contrary_a to_o christian_a self-denial_n and_o humility_n and_o glory_v in_o god_n so_o we_o must_v take_v heed_n of_o it_o and_o abhor_v it_o 2._o as_o glory_v signify_v any_o outward_a expression_n of_o this_o inward_a pride_n either_o by_o word_n or_o deed_n we_o must_v also_o avoid_v it_o with_o abhorrence_n 3._o so_o must_v we_o also_o do_v by_o all_o unseasonable_a offensive_a ostentation_n which_o may_v seem_v to_o other_o to_o savour_v of_o pride_n though_o indeed_o it_o proceed_v from_o a_o better_a cause_n 4._o but_o as_o glory_v signify_v the_o apprehension_n of_o the_o good_a of_o the_o thing_n and_o our_o benefit_n by_o it_o and_o the_o due_a affection_n of_o content_a and_o joy_n and_o exultation_n of_o mind_n that_o follow_v thereupon_o thus_o must_v a_o christian_a glory_n in_o his_o mortification_n by_o the_o cross_n of_o christ._n we_o common_o call_v this_o act_n a_o blessing_n of_o ourselves_o in_o the_o apprehension_n of_o our_o case_n as_o the_o carnal_a ungodly_a world_n do_v bless_v themselves_o in_o their_o possess_v carnal_a thing_n so_o may_v a_o christian_a bless_v himself_o that_o he_o be_v crucify_a to_o they_o that_o be_v he_o may_v rejoice_v in_o it_o as_o a_o great_a blessing_n of_o god_n that_o tend_v to_o further_a blessedness_n 5._o and_o when_o we_o be_v call_v to_o it_o we_o may_v express_v to_o other_o our_o glory_v herein_o but_o
of_o it_o no_o more_o than_o what_o be_v true_a in_o the_o late_a sense_n we_o may_v look_v at_o it_o and_o glory_n in_o it_o but_o not_o in_o the_o former_a 4._o and_o we_o must_v distinguish_v betwixt_o a_o glory_v that_o be_v terminate_v ultimate_o in_o ourselves_o or_o be_v accompany_v with_o any_o undue_a ascribe_v to_o ourselves_o this_o be_v no_o doubt_n unlawful_a and_o a_o glory_v which_o tend_v to_o god_n and_o be_v terminate_v in_o he_o and_o give_v no_o honour_n to_o any_o creature_n but_o what_o god_n give_v they_o and_o what_o be_v in_o a_o due_a appoint_a order_n to_o god_n honour_n and_o this_o glory_v be_v a_o duty_n and_o by_o all_o christian_n to_o be_v careful_o perform_v if_o any_o that_o peruse_v these_o line_n be_v taint_v with_o this_o weak_a mistake_n let_v they_o consider_v beside_o what_o be_v say_v before_o 1._o be_v it_o just_a or_o pious_a that_o christ_n shall_v lose_v the_o honour_n of_o his_o mercy_n mere_o because_o he_o have_v bestow_v they_o on_o we_o do_v that_o make_v they_o no_o mercy_n or_o rather_o make_v they_o the_o great_a mercy_n shall_v his_o grace_n be_v vilify_v because_o he_o make_v thy_o soul_n the_o subject_n of_o it_o why_o then_o it_o seem_v you_o will_v have_v thank_v he_o more_o to_o have_v keep_v his_o mercy_n to_o himself_o 2._o be_v christ_n ever_o the_o less_o christ_n because_o he_o dwell_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o believer_n eph._n 3._o 17._o and_o will_v you_o pretend_v to_o honour_n christ_n without_o you_o and_o deny_v he_o his_o honour_n within_o you_o even_o because_o he_o be_v within_o you_o yea_o and_o will_v pretend_v that_o it_o be_v for_o the_o honour_n of_o christ_n thus_o to_o dishonour_v he_o and_o tell_v man_n that_o they_o deny_v or_o overlook_v it_o because_o they_o admire_v he_o within_o they_o as_o well_o as_o without_o they_o if_o paul_n say_v i_o have_v labour_v more_o abundant_o than_o they_o all_z and_o add_v when_o he_o have_v do_v yet_o not_o i_o but_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n which_o be_v with_o i_o and_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n i_o be_o what_o i_o be_o and_o his_o grace_n which_o be_v bestow_v on_o i_o be_v not_o in_o vain_a 1_o cor._n 15._o 10._o will_v you_o tell_v he_o that_o he_o exalt_v himself_o against_o grace_n no_o but_o he_o exalt_v grace_n in_o himself_o paul_n travail_v in_o birth_n of_o the_o galatian_n till_o christ-were_a form_v its_o effect_n on_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n who_o be_v it_o that_o more_o honour_v the_o physician_n he_o that_o magnify_v the_o cure_n or_o he_o that_o villifi_v it_o or_o make_v nothing_o of_o it_o as_o be_v aforesaid_a 4._o doubtless_o we_o must_v observe_v and_o glory_n in_o that_o which_o all_o the_o world_n must_v observe_v and_o glorify_v god_n for_o and_o that_o which_o will_v be_v the_o through_o lust_n 2_o pet._n 1._o 4._o and_o will_v you_o overlook_v the_o divine_a nature_n and_o refuse_v to_o honour_v it_o and_o this_o on_o pretence_n that_o it_o be_v a_o wrong_n to_o christ_n take_v heed_n lest_o by_o your_o doctrine_n you_o make_v christ_n a_o enemy_n to_o god_n and_o holiness_n who_o come_v into_o the_o world_n to_o do_v his_o farhers_n will_n and_o to_o recover_v sinner_n by_o sanctification_n from_o the_o world_n to_o god_n 6._o it_o be_v the_o great_a sin_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o wicked_a man_n to_o wrong_v and_o dishonour_n christ_n in_o his_o saint_n and_o when_o he_o himself_o be_v out_o of_o their_o reach_n they_o persecute_v he_o in_o his_o member_n and_o those_o that_o love_v not_o and_o relieve_v not_o these_o shall_v be_v judge_v as_o not_o love_v and_o relieve_v christ._n it_o be_v certain_o our_o duty_n then_o to_o do_v contrary_a to_o they_o and_o to_o love_n and_o admire_v god_n grace_n in_o the_o saint_n and_o to_o observe_v and_o honour_n christ_n within_o they_o 7._o what_o comfortable_a use_n can_v we_o make_v of_o the_o promise_n if_o we_o must_v not_o look_v at_o those_o evidence_n in_o ourselves_o that_o prove_v our_o interest_n in_o they_o god_n have_v promise_v that_o if_o we_o confess_v with_o the_o mouth_n the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o believe_v in_o the_o heart_n that_o god_n raise_v he_o from_o the_o dead_a we_o
