presumptuous_a dream_n be_v the_o very_a snare_n of_o a_o sinful_a condition_n and_o do_v ripen_v man_n for_o sudden_a and_o violent_a judgement_n 4._o man_n sure_a stand_n can_v no_o more_o bear_v out_o against_o god_n judgement_n than_o a_o weak_a building_n or_o the_o habitation_n of_o the_o old_a world_n can_v bear_v out_o against_o the_o flood_n but_o sudden_o violent_o and_o irresistible_o his_o hand_n will_v reach_v they_o for_o their_o foundation_n be_v overthrow_v with_o a_o flood_n 5._o justice_n will_n here_o or_o hereafter_o pursue_v wicked_a man_n so_o long_o as_o they_o have_v greatness_n to_o other_o as_o here_o he_o be_v rouse_v up_o himself_o by_o the_o present_a thunder_n that_o he_o may_v excite_v the_o auditory_a so_o those_o who_o be_v true_o sensible_a will_v be_v careful_a not_o to_o leave_v other_o insensible_a as_o they_o have_v occasion_n and_o opportunity_n of_o what_o they_o know_v of_o god_n for_o this_o be_v the_o fruit_n of_o his_o own_o sense_n that_o he_o excite_v the_o rest_n to_o hear_v 6._o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o all_o to_o attend_v serious_o to_o what_o god_n declare_v and_o reveal_v of_o himself_o by_o his_o word_n or_o work_n for_o so_o be_v here_o require_v that_o they_o hear_v attentive_o this_o voice_n of_o the_o thunder_n 7._o man_n may_v have_v god_n work_n very_o obvious_a before_o they_o who_o yet_o without_o excitation_n will_v not_o improve_v they_o aright_o for_o though_o man_n must_v hear_v the_o noise_n and_o sound_v of_o thunder_n yet_o they_o need_v to_o be_v excite_v to_o hear_v it_o attentive_o or_o in_o hear_v to_o hear_v it_o that_o be_v so_o to_o hear_v the_o sound_n of_o it_o as_o to_o consider_v what_o it_o say_v and_o what_o god_n declare_v concern_v himself_o by_o it_o second_o a_o description_n of_o this_o thunder_n v._o 2_o 3_o 4._o not_o after_o the_o way_n of_o naturalist_n who_o describe_v it_o to_o be_v a_o dry_a vapour_n or_o exhalation_n burst_v through_o a_o watery_a cloud_n wherewith_o it_o be_v surround_v whence_o come_v the_o great_a noise_n and_o kindle_v with_o strive_v against_o the_o watery_a cloud_n in_o the_o eruption_n whence_o come_v the_o lightning_n and_o the_o condensate_v thereof_o make_v a_o

this_o thunder_n in_o its_o nature_n and_o kind_n be_v a_o sound_n and_o noise_n of_o the_o voice_n of_o god_n v._o 2._o that_o be_v a_o voice_n whereby_o he_o speak_v to_o man_n and_o make_v himself_o and_o his_o mind_n know_v as_o man_n declare_v their_o mind_n by_o their_o word_n so_o psal_n 29._o throughout_o hence_o we_o may_v learn_v 1._o the_o work_n of_o god_n do_v we_o good_a in_o so_o far_o as_o they_o speak_v and_o be_v god_n voice_n to_o we_o as_o here_o the_o thunder_n get_v that_o name_n not_o only_o because_o of_o its_o loud_a noise_n but_o because_o thereby_o somewhat_o be_v speak_v to_o we_o 2._o thunder_n have_v a_o speak_a voice_n to_o right_a discerner_n it_o speak_v what_o the_o majesty_n and_o dreadfulness_n of_o the_o speaker_n be_v what_o the_o efficacy_n of_o his_o word_n be_v when_o he_o please_v to_o make_v use_n of_o it_o which_o can_v pierce_v like_o a_o sword_n and_o thunderbolt_n heb._n 4.12_o what_o dreadful_a language_n he_o have_v for_o they_o appear_v to_o our_o sense_n for_o our_o sight_n be_v a_o quick_a sense_n than_o that_o of_o hear_v and_o the_o light_n pass_v through_o the_o air_n in_o a_o instant_n while_o the_o sound_n thrust_v itself_o through_o the_o air_n but_o by_o degree_n we_o see_v the_o light_n before_o we_o hear_v the_o sound_n hence_o we_o may_v gather_v 1._o god_n majestic_a lightning_n attend_v his_o voice_n may_v yet_o discover_v more_o of_o the_o majesty_n of_o the_o speaker_n and_o may_v show_v what_o pain_n he_o take_v and_o what_o splendour_n and_o glory_n he_o display_v to_o have_v his_o voice_n regard_v and_o what_o need_v we_o have_v of_o warning_n to_o excite_v our_o attention_n to_o hear_v as_o lightning_n in_o ordinary_a excite_v we_o to_o hearken_v to_o the_o voice_n that_o follow_v 2._o this_o order_n here_o put_v betwixt_o the_o voice_n and_o lightning_n do_v point_n out_o that_o the_o hear_n be_v a_o more_o dull_a and_o slow_a sense_n than_o see_v and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v be_v careful_a to_o quicken_v it_o in_o hear_v yet_o so_o as_o the_o many_o turn_n and_o wind_n in_o our_o ear_n which_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o this_o flowness_n shall_v warn_v we_o to_o be_v show_v that_o as_o god_n be_v marvellous_a in_o his_o thundering_n so_o he_o have_v many_o other_o incomprehensible_a work_n some_o of_o which_o be_v afterward_o instance_a as_o proof_n of_o this_o hence_o learn_v 1._o when_o man_n have_v have_v never_o so_o many_o after-thought_n of_o god_n working_n they_o will_v never_o see_v cause_n to_o abate_v their_o estimation_n thereof_o or_o of_o his_o glory_n shine_v therein_o but_o rather_o to_o increase_v it_o as_o here_o he_o shut_v up_o the_o former_a instance_n with_o this_o god_n thunder_v marvellous_o with_o his_o voice_n 2._o man_n see_v little_a if_o they_o see_v not_o matter_n of_o admiration_n in_o god_n work_n for_o he_o thunder_v marvellous_o as_o there_o be_v indeed_o many_o wonder_n in_o it_o how_o dreadful_a the_o sound_n be_v which_o be_v make_v by_o a_o vapour_n in_o the_o air_n how_o it_o shall_v kindle_v itself_o by_o its_o conflict_n with_o the_o watery_a cloud_n how_o the_o thunderbolt_n shall_v melt_v which_o be_v record_v by_o naturalist_n and_o historian_n 3._o it_o be_v not_o one_o work_n only_o wherein_o we_o may_v see_v the_o marvellous_a hand_n of_o god_n but_o any_o one_o do_v demonstrate_v what_o be_v in_o all_o whether_o we_o see_v it_o or_o not_o as_o here_o he_o subjoin_v to_o this_o commendation_n of_o the_o thunder_n great_a thing_n do_v he_o etc._n etc._n to_o teach_v we_o to_o see_v that_o in_o snow_n rain_n etc._n etc._n which_o be_v the_o follow_a instance_n which_o we_o see_v in_o thunder_n 4._o as_o man_n be_v ignorant_a of_o god_n work_n so_o the_o cause_n thereof_o and_o of_o our_o not_o see_v wonder_n in_o they_o flow_v from_o our_o own_o shallowness_n and_o incapacity_n for_o great_a thing_n do_v he_o which_o we_o can_v comprehend_v verse_n 6._o for_o he_o
