the_o worst_a sort_n of_o sinner_n in_o this_o life_n so_o shall_v they_o be_v punish_v with_o they_o in_o the_o severe_a manner_n in_o the_o next_o when_o satan_n destroy_v the_o soul_n of_o man_n he_o shall_v answer_v for_o it_o as_o a_o murderer_n only_o not_o as_o a_o officer_n that_o be_v entrust_v with_o the_o care_n of_o soul_n but_o if_o the_o steward_n do_v not_o provide_v if_o the_o be_v a_o mixture_n of_o wise_a and_o unwise_a of_o saint_n and_o hypocrite_n five_o of_o these_o virgin_n be_v wise_a and_o five_o be_v foolish_a where_o observe_v our_o lord_n be_v great_a charity_n in_o suppose_v and_o hope_v that_o among_o the_o professor_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o number_n of_o sincere_a christian_n be_v equal_a with_o hypocritical_a professor_n five_o be_v wise_a and_o five_o foolish_a teach_v we_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o confine_v the_o church_n of_o christ_n within_o a_o narrow_a compass_n nor_o confine_v our_o charity_n to_o a_o few_o and_o think_v none_o shall_v go_v to_o heaven_n but_o those_o of_o our_o own_o party_n and_o persuasion_n but_o to_o extend_v our_o charity_n to_o all_o christian_n that_o hold_v the_o foundation_n with_o we_o and_o to_o hope_v well_o of_o they_o lord_n let_v i_o rather_o err_v on_o the_o charitable_a hand_n than_o be_v find_v on_o the_o censorious_a and_o damn_v side_n this_o be_v to_o imitate_v my_o saviour_n who_o charity_n suppose_v as_o many_o wise_a as_o foolish_a virgin_n as_o many_o saint_n as_o hypocrite_n in_o the_o church_n all_o these_o virgin_n be_v say_v to_o take_v their_o lamp_n and_o go_v forth_o to_o meet_v the_o bridegroom_n for_o understanding_n which_o we_o must_v know_v that_o our_o saviour_n allude_v to_o the_o ancient_a custom_n of_o marriage_n which_o be_v celebrate_v in_o the_o night_n when_o usual_o ten_o young_a man_n attend_v the_o bridegroom_n and_o as_o many_o virgin_n attend_v the_o bride_n with_o lamp_n in_o their_o hand_n the_o bridegroom_n lead_v home_o his_o bride_n by_o the_o light_n of_o those_o lamp_n by_o these_o virgin_n be_v shadow_v forth_o the_o professor_n of_o christianity_n the_o foolish_a virgin_n be_v such_o as_o satisfy_v themselves_o with_o a_o bare_a profession_n without_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n answerable_a thereunto_o the_o wise_a virgin_n be_v such_o as_o walk_v answerable_a to_o their_o profession_n persevere_v and_o continue_v steadfast_a therein_o and_o abound_v in_o the_o grace_n and_o virtue_n of_o a_o good_a life_n they_o be_v call_v virgin_n for_o the_o purity_n of_o their_o faith_n for_o the_o purity_n of_o their_o worship_n and_o for_o the_o purity_n of_o their_o conversation_n 3_o they_o that_o be_v foolish_a take_v their_o lamp_n and_o take_v no_o oil_n with_o they_o 4_o but_o the_o wise_a take_v oil_n in_o their_o vessel_n with_o their_o lamp_n by_o the_o lamp_n be_v mean_v a_o outward_a profession_n of_o faith_n and_o holiness_n by_o oil_n in_o their_o lamp_n be_v to_o be_v understand_v that_o solemn_a the_o growth_n and_o improvement_n of_o they_o with_o constancy_n and_o perseverance_n in_o they_o observe_v here_o wherein_o the_o wise_a and_o foolish_a virgin_n agree_v and_o wherein_o they_o differ_v they_o agree_v thus_o far_o that_o both_o take_v their_o lamp_n both_o light_v they_o they_o both_o have_v oil_n in_o their_o lamp_n the_o difference_n be_v not_o that_o the_o wise_a have_v oil_n and_o the_o foolish_a have_v none_o but_o in_o this_o that_o the_o wise_a take_v care_n for_o a_o future_a supply_n of_o oil_n to_o feed_v their_o lamp_n when_o the_o first_o oil_n be_v spend_v some_o professor_n like_o foolish_a virgin_n content_v themselves_o with_o a_o blaze_a lamp_n of_o a_o outward_a profession_n without_o concern_v themselves_o to_o secure_v a_o inward_a principle_n of_o grace_n and_o love_n which_o shall_v maintain_v that_o profession_n as_o the_o oil_n maintain_v the_o lamp_n as_o the_o lamp_n will_v
not_o long_o hold_v burn_v without_o a_o stock_n of_o oil_n to_o feed_v it_o so_o a_o profession_n of_o religion_n though_o never_o so_o glorious_a will_v not_o be_v last_v nor_o persevere_v without_o a_o principle_n of_o faith_n and_o love_n in_o the_o heart_n to_o support_v and_o maintain_v it_o learn_v hence_o that_o the_o true_a wisdom_n of_o a_o christian_a consist_v in_o this_o to_o take_v care_n that_o not_o only_o the_o lamp_n of_o his_o life_n may_v shine_v by_o outward_a profession_n but_o that_o the_o vessel_n of_o his_o heart_n may_v be_v furnish_v with_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o insufficient_a to_o salvation_n without_o a_o suitable_a and_o correspondent_a practice_n the_o pharisee_n have_v the_o key_n of_o knowledge_n at_o their_o girdle_n yet_o our_o saviour_n tell_v they_o of_o a_o double_a damnation_n lord_n how_o sad_a be_v it_o so_o to_o know_v christ_n in_o this_o world_n as_o that_o he_o will_v be_v ashamed_a to_o know_v we_o in_o another_o world_n chap._n
into_o whatsoever_o house_n you_o enter_v first_o say_v peace_n be_v to_o this_o house_n they_o must_v wish_v peace_n to_o the_o son_n of_o peace_n yea_o to_o the_o enemy_n of_o peace_n also_o and_o as_o their_o peace_n shall_v rest_v upon_o the_o one_o so_o shall_v it_o return_v from_o the_o other_o peace_n be_v to_o this_o house_n be_v a_o fit_a salutation_n for_o they_o to_o use_v who_o be_v peace_n to_o part_v with_o our_o coat_n and_o cloak_n that_o be_v with_o our_o civil_a right_n for_o peace_n and_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a to_o live_v peaceable_o with_o all_o man_n observe_v 2._o as_o the_o injunction_n give_v by_o our_o saviour_n to_o his_o disciple_n to_o deliver_v a_o message_n of_o peace_n first_o say_v peace_n be_v to_o this_o house_n so_o the_o prediction_n of_o what_o shall_v befall_v they_o in_o the_o delivery_n of_o this_o their_o message_n their_o salutation_n though_o it_o be_v peace_n yet_o will_v not_o find_v a_o welcome_a and_o entertainment_n with_o all_o person_n but_o only_o with_o the_o son_n of_o peace_n if_o the_o son_n of_o peace_n be_v there_o your_o peace_n shall_v rest_v upon_o it_o observe_v 3_o a_o encouragement_n not_o to_o be_v afraid_a rest_v on_o none_o but_o those_o that_o be_v fit_a to_o receive_v it_o 3._o that_o though_o it_o do_v not_o rest_n yet_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v lose_v but_o return_v again_o to_o those_o that_o publish_v it_o minister_n can_v but_o say_v peace_n be_v to_o this_o house_n they_o can_v make_v it_o rest_v there_o we_o can_v offer_v term_n of_o peace_n to_o a_o lose_a world_n but_o can_v compel_v man_n to_o accept_v they_o and_o if_o they_o final_o refuse_v they_o we_o shall_v be_v a_o sweet_a savour_n unto_o god_n as_o well_o in_o they_o that_o perish_v as_o in_o they_o that_o be_v save_v 7_o and_o in_o the_o same_o house_n remain_v eat_v and_o drink_v such_o thing_n as_o they_o give_v for_o the_o labourer_n be_v worthy_a of_o his_o hire_n go_v not_o from_o house_n to_o house_n 8_o and_o 2._o some_o understand_v this_o fall_n of_o satan_n not_o literal_o but_o figurative_o and_o mystical_o of_o his_o ruin_n by_o the_o power_n and_o preach_v of_o the_o gospel_n as_o if_o christ_n
