not_o certain_o know_v whether_o it_o be_v make_v in_o his_o whole_a person_n of_o soul_n and_o body_n or_o whether_o it_o be_v only_o a_o rapture_n and_o ecstasy_n of_o his_o mind_n and_o intellect_n he_o think_v this_o case_n very_o like_o that_o of_o st._n paul_n and_o that_o the_o word_n of_o his_o rapture_n must_v prove_v exceed_o weak_o the_o separate_a subsistence_n of_o soul_n after_o body_n nor_o make_v any_o mention_n of_o the_o soul_n at_o all_o and_o that_o upon_o these_o two_o text_n the_o question_n must_v needs_o arise_v which_o of_o they_o have_v true_o relate_v the_o expression_n which_o our_o lord_n use_v at_o the_o deliver_n of_o this_o doctrine_n upon_o which_o question_n may_v be_v consider_v the_o person_n and_o quality_n of_o these_o two_o writer_n st._n matthew_n be_v indeed_o a_o apostle_n but_o his_o former_a profession_n and_o practice_n be_v that_o of_o a_o publican_n a_o office_n very_o hateful_a to_o those_o of_o the_o jewish_a nation_n and_o so_o much_o that_o no_o person_n of_o quality_n will_v undertake_v it_o nor_o willing_o converse_v with_o those_o that_o practise_v it_o and_o hence_o the_o observer_n collect_v he_o be_v not_o likely_a to_o be_v furnish_v with_o any_o great_a stock_n of_o humane_a learning_n but_o may_v easy_o be_v carry_v away_o by_o the_o common_a opinion_n of_o that_o time_n believe_v the_o humane_a soul_n be_v immortal_a and_o capable_a of_o subsistence_n in_o a_o state_n of_o separation_n from_o the_o body_n and_o that_o therefore_o he_o may_v and_o probable_o do_v deliver_v this_o part_n of_o our_o saviour_n doctrine_n in_o word_n and_o term_n suit_v his_o conception_n of_o the_o thing_n and_o that_o on_o the_o contrary_a st._n luke_n be_v a_o know_v and_o learned_a physician_n and_o write_v from_o the_o mouth_n of_o st._n paul_n who_o be_v the_o most_o know_v and_o learned_a among_o all_o the_o apostle_n and_o who_o it_o seem_v be_v not_o possess_v with_o the_o opinion_n of_o the_o soul_n immortality_n or_o the_o separate_a subsistence_n of_o it_o after_o the_o death_n of_o the_o person_n and_o therefore_o have_v deliver_v this_o doctrine_n in_o term_n very_o different_a from_o those_o of_o st._n matthew_n and_o for_o the_o further_o strengthen_v of_o this_o apprehension_n the_o observer_n quote_v matth._n 21.1_o where_o the_o word_n be_v jesus_n send_v two_o disciple_n say_v go_v into_o the_o next_o village_n and_o there_o you_o shall_v find_v a_o ass_n tie_v and_o a_o colt_n with_o she_o lose_v they_o and_o bring_v they_o unto_o i_o and_o they_o go_v according_o and_o find_v the_o ass_n and_o the_o colt_n and_o bring_v they_o to_o jesus_n and_o put_v on_o they_o their_o clothes_n and_o sit_v he_o thereon_o this_o relation_n plain_o intend_v that_o ass_n in_o the_o case_n which_o true_o be_v a_o colt_n the_o foal_n of_o a_o ass_n and_o this_o error_n of_o our_o evangelist_n seem_v not_o a_o bare_a but_o a_o willing_a mistake_n for_o the_o
