temptation_n but_o now_o when_o man_n or_o woman_n be_v most_o themselves_z when_o alone_o and_o free_a then_o for_o to_o examine_v what_o be_v the_o most_o suitable_a thought_n to_o their_o heart_n earth_n by_o false_a way_n they_o must_v certain_o undo_v all_o they_o have_v do_v you_o have_v get_v so_o much_o of_o the_o earth_n in_o some_o cunning_a cheat_a way_n and_o you_o bless_v yourselves_o that_o you_o have_v find_v out_o such_o a_o mystery_n of_o iniquity_n this_o be_v a_o foolish_a lust_n foolish_a why_o it_o must_v be_v do_v again_o either_o you_o must_v be_v eternal_o damn_v or_o else_o you_o must_v restore_v as_o zacheus_n do_v if_o you_o be_v able_a though_o it_o be_v to_o the_o impoverish_n of_o yourselves_o yet_o it_o must_v out_o again_o all_o the_o sorrow_n and_o repentance_n that_o can_v be_v will_v not_o be_v sufficient_a thou_o can_v not_o be_v pardon_v upon_o all_o thy_o sorrow_n and_o repentance_n if_o thou_o do_v not_o restore_v if_o thou_o be_v able_a what_o thou_o have_v ill_o get_v i_o do_v not_o know_v that_o there_o be_v ever_o any_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n upon_o the_o face_n of_o the_o earth_n but_o hold_v this_o that_o it_o be_v of_o absolute_a necessity_n to_o salvation_n to_o restore_v and_o this_o one_o reason_n can_v but_o satisfy_v any_o man_n conscience_n that_o a_o man_n can_v true_o repent_v of_o a_o sin_n and_o yet_o wilful_o to_o continue_v in_o it_o now_o except_o you_o do_v restore_v you_o do_v wilful_o continue_v in_o it_o for_o why_o you_o do_v not_o only_o wrong_v the_o man_n the_o first_o hour_n but_o so_o long_o as_o you_o keep_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v he_o you_o do_v wrong_v he_o and_o if_o you_o be_v able_a to_o restore_v and_o do_v not_o because_o you_o be_v loath_a to_o part_v with_o so_o much_o money_n or_o so_o many_o good_n you_o do_v wilful_o continue_v in_o the_o sin_n now_o no_o man_n or_o woman_n can_v true_o repent_v of_o a_o sin_n and_o yet_o wilful_o persist_v in_o that_o sin_n what_o a_o foolish_a lust_n be_v this_o for_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n to_o go_v and_o get_v the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n in_o such_o a_o way_n as_o he_o must_v undo_v all_o again_o though_o it_o be_v to_o his_o shame_n oh_o consider_v what_o a_o folly_n it_o be_v you_o deceitful_a servant_n that_o spend_v away_o that_o upon_o your_o lust_n that_o you_o cheat_v and_o cozen_v your_o master_n of_o afterward_o when_o you_o come_v to_o set_v up_o for_o yourselves_o you_o must_v restore_v what_o you_o have_v purloin_v and_o it_o may_v be_v a_o great_a part_n of_o your_o estate_n must_v be_v repay_v in_o way_n of_o restitution_n it_o must_v be_v do_v there_o be_v no_o gainsaying_n of_o it_o and_o therefore_o what_o a_o foolish_a lust_n it_o be_v to_o be_v set_v upon_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o earth_n so_o as_o to_o get_v they_o in_o a_o earthly_a way_n 6._o and_o then_o foolish_a observe_v this_o one_o note_n by_o earthly-mindednesse_a they_o do_v lose_v the_o comfort_n of_o earthly_a thing_n before_o they_o have_v they_o i_o make_v it_o out_o thus_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n that_o have_v cark_n thought_n about_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o it_o may_v be_v by_o their_o inordinate_a thought_n and_o care_n and_o affection_n after_o some_o earthly_a thing_n they_o contract_v much_o guiltiness_n upon_o their_o own_o spirit_n yet_o after_o this_o perhaps_o god_n do_v give_v they_o that_o earthly_a thing_n now_o when_o they_o have_v get_v it_o if_o they_o have_v any_o light_n in_o their_o conscience_n their_o convince_a conscience_n will_v then_o reflect_v thus_o upon_o they_o i_o have_v get_v this_o indeed_o oh_o but_o have_v i_o it_o with_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n i_o have_v it_o in_o my_o costody_n but_o i_o get_v it_o dear_o it_o cost_v i_o such_o thought_n and_o care_n and_o affection_n before_o i_o have_v it_o and_o now_o i_o have_v it_o i_o can_v say_v it_o come_v out_o of_o god_n love_n i_o rather_o fear_v that_o god_n have_v give_v it_o i_o in_o his_o wrath_n because_o i_o get_v it_o in_o such_o a_o way_n now_o all_o the_o comfort_n be_v go_v and_o lose_v whereas_o have_v it_o come_v in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o have_v thou_o give_v up_o thyself_o to_o god_n and_o then_o providence_n have_v bring_v such_o a_o comfort_n to_o thou_o thou_o may_v have_v enjoy_v much_o of_o god_n in_o it_o &_o bless_a god_n after_o he_o have_v get_v it_o he_o think_v thus_o what_o have_v this_o cost_n i_o it_o have_v cost_v i_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o than_o its_o worth_n now_o the_o comfort_n of_o it_o be_v vanish_v so_o much_o of_o heaven_n they_o be_v willing_a to_o purchase_v they_o at_o a_o dear_a rate_n oh_o how_o ever_o i_o live_v yet_o let_v i_o live_v where_o i_o may_v enjoy_v the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n the_o well_n of_o salvation_n my_o life_n can_v be_v comfortable_a in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o all_o thing_n in_o this_o world_n if_o i_o shall_v be_v deprive_v of_o the_o breast_n of_o consolation_n sure_o they_o that_o be_v willing_a to_o purchase_v heavenly_a commodity_n at_o so_o dear_a a_o rate_n as_o the_o saint_n will_v do_v this_o do_v evidentlie_o declare_v their_o conversation_n to_o be_v in_o heaven_n sixth_o when_o they_o be_v so_o sensible_a of_o the_o stoppage_n between_o heaven_n and_o their_o own_o soul_n if_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o general_a stoppage_n of_o ship_n that_o be_v in_o france_n turkey_n or_o spain_n your_o countryman_n be_v not_o sensible_a at_o all_o of_o it_o but_o your_o merchant_n i_o will_v warrant_v you_o will_v be_v sensible_a enough_o of_o it_o and_o when_o they_o come_v together_o upon_o the_o exchange_n all_o their_o converse_n will_v be_v of_o it_o so_o it_o be_v with_o those_o that_o have_v their_o conversation_n in_o heaven_n and_o here_o be_v a_o great_a difference_n between_o those_o and_o those_o that_o be_v earthly_a mind_v tell_v those_o that_o be_v earthly_a of_o any_o stoppage_n in_o the_o intercourse_n between_o they_o and_o heaven_n and_o they_o know_v not_o what_o you_o mean_v they_o think_v you_o be_v fool_n and_o mad_a but_o the_o saint_n they_o be_v sensible_a of_o it_o oh_o it_o be_v a_o sore_a and_o sad_a evil_n to_o they_o i_o mean_v when_o at_o any_o time_n god_n hide_v his_o face_n from_o they_o when_o at_o any_o time_n they_o go_v into_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n &_o can_v hear_v nothing_o from_o he_o can_v receive_v no_o letter_n from_o heaven_n as_o i_o may_v so_o say_v if_o the_o post_n do_v not_o come_v from_o such_o a_o country_n the_o merchant_n be_v trouble_v at_o it_o so_o when_o the_o saint_n send_v up_o their_o prayer_n to_o heaven_n by_o which_o they_o trade_v thither_o and_o can_v hear_v nothing_o from_o god_n again_o and_o when_o they_o can_v feel_v those_o influence_n from_o heaven_n let_v into_o their_o soul_n as_o heretofore_o sometime_o they_o have_v do_v oh_o they_o bewail_v this_o as_o a_o great_a evil_n that_o be_v upon_o they_o above_o any_o evil_n in_o the_o world_n that_o influence_n of_o heaven_n be_v stop_v and_o that_o god_n seem_v to_o be_v a_o stranger_n unto_o they_o oh_o these_o thing_n they_o complain_v of_o one_o to_o another_o and_o they_o make_v their_o moan_n when_o they_o feel_v the_o stoppage_n of_o heaven_n this_o plain_o declare_v that_o they_o be_v trader_n for_o heaven_n and_o that_o their_o conversation_n be_v there_o the_o last_o evidence_n of_o a_o saint_n have_v his_o conversation_n in_o heaven_n be_v his_o willingness_n to_o die_v to_o depart_v this_o world_n the_o go_v out_o of_o this_o world_n with_o so_o much_o comfort_n joy_n peace_n and_o triumph_v as_o many_o of_o the_o saint_n have_v do_v as_o we_o may_v give_v you_o the_o expression_n of_o many_o of_o the_o saint_n when_o they_o be_v ready_a to_o die_v rejoice_v at_o the_o hope_n of_o eternal_a life_n at_o their_o go_v out_o of_o the_o world_n sure_o have_v they_o not_o converse_v in_o heaven_n while_o they_o live_v here_o their_o soul_n will_v not_o have_v be_v so_o willing_a to_o have_v depart_v out_o of_o their_o body_n a_o man_n that_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v in_o another_o country_n it_o may_v be_v shall_v be_v there_o as_o a_o dead_a man_n he_o go_v but_o with_o little_a joy_n thither_o but_o now_o a_o man_n that_o have_v have_v trade_v to_o another_o country_n and_o he_o have_v great_a riches_n and_o so_o thrive_v there_o that_o whatsoever_o he_o seem_v to_o be_v here_o yet_o there_o he_o be_v a_o great_a man_n oh_o how_o comfortable_o do_v that_o man_n go_v to_o the_o country_n how_o glad_a be_v he_o when_o he_o take_v ship_n and_o see_v a_o fair_a gale_n and_o prosperous_a wind_n to_o carry_v he_o to_o that_o country_n and_o so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o saint_n who_o have_v their_o conversation_n in_o heaven_n because_o they_o have_v so_o much_o riches_n there_o when_o they_o come_v to_o die_v they_o die_v with_o joy_n and_o bless_v god_n for_o that_o day_n as_o the_o most_o bless_a day_n that_o they_o have_v see_v for_o they_o be_v go_v now_o to_o the_o country_n that_o they_o have_v be_v trade_v to_o all_o their_o day_n and_o where_o their_o riches_n lie_v these_o be_v the_o evidence_n and_o demonstration_n that_o the_o saint_n have_v their_o conversation_n in_o heaven_n chap._n ix_o four_o reason_n why_o the_o saint_n have_v their_o conversation_n in_o heaven_n but_o now_o if_o you_o demand_v the_o reason_n why_o it_o be_v that_o the_o saint_n have_v their_o conversation_n in_o heaven_n to_o that_o i_o answer_v brief_o thus_o the_o first_o reason_n because_o their_o soul_n that_o be_v their_o better_a part_n they_o be_v from_o heaven_n you_o know_v that_o when_o god_n make_v man_n he_o breathe_v into_o his_o nostril_n the_o breath_n of_o life_n the_o soul_n of_o man_n it_o be_v as_o it_o be_v the_o breath_n of_o god_n god_n do_v not_o say_v of_o man_n soul_n as_o of_o other_o creature_n let_v it_o be_v make_v let_v there_o be_v a_o soul_n in_o man_n body_n no_o but_o when_o he_o have_v form_v the_o body_n he_o breathe_v the_o soul_n into_o he_o it_o be_v to_o note_v that_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n have_v a_o more_o heavenly_a and_o divine_a original_n than_o any_o of_o the_o other_o creature_n that_o be_v here_o in_o this_o world_n and_o because_o the_o original_n it_o be_v so_o divine_a and_o heavenly_a therefore_o it_o be_v that_o when_o the_o soul_n be_v as_o it_o be_v its_o self_n be_v set_v at_o liberty_n it_o will_v be_v at_o its_o original_n indeed_o though_o man_n soul_n be_v of_o a_o divine_a and_o heavenly_a nature_n yea_o through_o the_o fall_n of_o man_n so_o it_o be_v that_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n be_v even_o almost_o turn_v to_o be_v flesh_n and_o so_o mingle_v with_o unclean_a drossy_a thing_n as_o if_o it_o have_v no_o such_o divine_a and_o heavenly_a original_n and_o therefore_o a_o natural_a man_n be_v call_v flesh_n that_o that_o be_v bear_v of_o the_o flesh_n be_v flesh_n as_o if_o he_o have_v no_o soul_n at_o all_o for_o i_o say_v the_o soul_n of_o man_n through_o his_o fall_n the_o nature_n of_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v change_v it_o be_v at_o least_o depress_v down_o to_o such_o vile_a thing_n as_o if_o it_o never_o have_v such_o a_o divine_a and_o heavenly_a original_n but_o now_o when_o god_n work_v grace_n in_o the_o soul_n the_o soul_n of_o man_n begin_v to_o return_v to_o its_o self_n and_o to_o know_v its_o self_n and_o begin_v to_o return_v to_o its_o own_o nature_n that_o it_o have_v in_o its_o first_o creation_n and_o as_o soon_o as_o ever_o the_o soul_n begin_v to_o know_v its_o self_n it_o look_v then_o present_o at_o all_o these_o thing_n that_o be_v here_o below_o as_o vile_a thing_n in_o comparison_n as_o contemptible_a for_o indeed_o all_o these_o thing_n in_o this_o world_n be_v infinite_o beneath_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n infinite_o that_o be_v in_o comparison_n we_o may_v even_o call_v it_o a_o infinite_a distance_n between_o man_n soul_n and_o all_o these_o thing_n that_o be_v here_o below_o in_o the_o world_n the_o soul_n of_o man_n be_v near_o unto_o god_n himself_o and_o therefore_o when_o as_o the_o soul_n return_v unto_o its_o self_n it_o will_v be_v some_o where_o else_o than_o where_o it_o be_v and_o will_v converse_v with_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v suitable_a to_o its_o original_n as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o man_n that_o have_v a_o noble_a birth_n suppose_v a_o prince_n be_v get_v into_o another_o country_n and_o there_o be_v a_o child_n be_v use_v like_o a_o slave_n set_v to_o rake_v channel_n and_o such_o mean_a employment_n now_o all_o the_o while_n that_o he_o be_v there_o and_o not_o know_v his_o original_n he_o mind_v nothing_o but_o to_o get_v his_o victual_n and_o do_v his_o work_n that_o he_o be_v set_v about_o but_o if_o once_o he_o come_v to_o know_v from_o whence_o he_o be_v namely_o bear_v the_o heir_n unto_o such_o a_o great_a prince_n or_o emperor_n that_o live_v in_o so_o much_o glory_n in_o such_o a_o country_n then_o he_o that_o live_v like_o a_o slave_n his_o thought_n and_o mind_n and_o long_n be_v to_o be_v in_o the_o
speak_v the_o very_a language_n of_o canaan_n but_o it_o be_v in_o such_o company_n where_o they_o may_v gain_v respect_n by_o it_o but_o still_o be_v but_o as_o meteor_n that_o hang_v between_o heaven_n and_o earth_n whereas_o the_o truth_n be_v while_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v so_o high_a above_o other_o and_o so_o heavenly_a yet_o their_o heart_n be_v grovel_v upon_o the_o earth_n many_o time_n while_o they_o have_v most_o excellent_a expression_n in_o prayer_n yet_o god_n see_v their_o heart_n base_o cleave_v to_o some_o earthly_a thing_n there_o be_v some_o base_a earthly_a contentment_n that_o their_o heart_n be_v upon_o while_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v so_o heavenly_a much_o like_a to_o the_o kite_n that_o fly_v on_o high_a as_o if_o it_o be_v a_o eagle_n but_o the_o eye_n of_o it_o while_o it_o be_v above_o in_o the_o air_n be_v fix_v upon_o some_o carrion_n upon_o some_o prey_n that_o it_o have_v upon_o the_o earth_n and_o as_o soon_o as_o ever_o it_o see_v a_o fit_a opportunity_n to_o seize_v upon_o the_o prey_n it_o come_v down_o to_o seize_v upon_o it_o and_o that_o be_v the_o place_n the_o kite_n will_v be_v at_o that_o be_v the_o place_n he_o do_v most_o delight_n in_o to_o be_v upon_o his_o prey_n and_o so_o a_o hypocrite_n though_o he_o rise_v high_a in_o some_o action_n yet_o the_o truth_n be_v his_o eye_n be_v upon_o some_o earthly_a prey_n and_o when_o he_o see_v his_o opportunity_n thither_o he_o go_v and_o fink_v down_o to_o those_o thing_n and_o that_o be_v his_o most_o proper_a place_n there_o he_o take_v most_o delight_n and_o content_v in_o his_o conversation_n though_o his_o action_n may_v seem_v to_o be_v heavenly_a and_o therefore_o he_o will_v fall_v down_o and_o never_o attain_v to_o the_o high_a heaven_n that_o the_o saint_n shall_v go_v to_o but_o to_o hell_n at_o the_o last_o chap._n xii_o the_o three_o use_n the_o three_o use_n be_v this_o the_o saint_n conversation_n be_v in_o heaven_n hence_o then_o for_o shame_n let_v we_o not_o find_v fault_n with_o strictness_n in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n let_v not_o man_n speak_v against_o the_o way_n of_o god_n as_o be_v too_o strict_a and_o what_o need_v we_o believer_n all_o that_o have_v the_o very_a lest_o degree_n of_o true_a grace_n he_o call_v they_o saint_n when_o we_o come_v to_o heaven_n than_o we_o shall_v live_v better_o but_o while_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n we_o can_v yeâ—_n while_o you_o be_v in_o this_o world_n your_o conversation_n be_v to_o be_v in_o heaven_n sure_o man_n either_o be_v not_o acquaint_v with_o the_o word_n or_o they_o shut_v their_o eye_n and_o will_v not_o see_v and_o consider_v what_o the_o word_n say_v about_o a_o strict_a conversation_n sometime_o you_o find_v in_o scripture_n that_o we_o be_v command_v to_o be_v perfect_a as_o our_o heavenly_a father_n be_v perfect_a it_o be_v a_o strange_a speech_n and_o yet_o it_o be_v the_o speech_n of_o christ_n himself_o and_o we_o must_v walk_v as_o christ_n walk_v and_o he_o that_o have_v this_o hope_n purify_v himself_o as_o he_o be_v pure_a and_o then_o our_o conversation_n be_v in_o heaven_n put_v these_o together_o perfect_a as_o our_o heavenly_a than_o other_o you_o be_v to_o aim_v at_o heaven_n look_v up_o there_o and_o make_v that_o to_o be_v your_o pattern_n chap._n xiii_o the_o four_o use_n and_o that_o rebuke_n even_o such_o as_o be_v true_o godly_a many_o that_o yet_o do_v fail_v exceed_v much_o in_o this_o thing_n oh_o their_o conversation_n be_v too_o low_a be_v too_o earthly_a if_o they_o will_v examine_v their_o heart_n strict_o they_o can_v say_v that_o their_o conversation_n be_v in_o heaven_n i_o be_o a_o stranger_n upon_o earth_n say_v david_n but_o many_o may_v say_v that_o they_o be_v stranger_n in_o heaven_n whereas_o earth_n shall_v be_v the_o place_n of_o our_o pilgrimage_n and_o heaven_n our_o home_n but_o it_o be_v quite_o otherways_o heaven_n be_v rather_o the_o place_n where_o most_o professor_n be_v stranger_n and_o earth_n be_v the_o place_n of_o their_o habitation_n they_o cast_v up_o a_o thought_n now_o and_o then_o to_o heaven_n as_o now_o and_o then_o man_n will_v cast_v up_o their_o eye_n and_o look_v upon_o heaven_n but_o where_o be_v your_o heart_n where_o be_v the_o great_a work_n of_o your_o spirit_n it_o be_v a_o speech_n of_o the_o lord_n say_v he_o heaven_n be_v my_o throne_n and_o earth_n be_v my_o footstool_n spiritual_a thing_n they_o be_v to_o be_v look_v upon_o as_o the_o good_a thing_n as_o the_o throne_n of_o god_n &_o those_o earthly_a thing_n only_o as_o mingle_v here_o with_o the_o earth_n in_o gen_n 45._o 20._o say_v joseph_n in_o send_v for_o his_o father_n regard_v not_o your_o stuff_n for_o the_o good_a of_o all_o the_o land_n of_o egypt_n be_v this_o do_v you_o live_v so_o as_o that_o your_o family_n and_o your_o neighbour_n may_v see_v that_o you_o have_v be_v this_o morning_n in_o heaven_n every_o morning_n we_o shall_v have_v some_o converse_n with_o heaven_n which_o if_o we_o have_v our_o conversation_n will_v be_v convince_a all_o the_o day_n long_o and_o very_o profitable_a it_o will_v be_v to_o the_o world_n christian_n that_o live_v heavenly_a conversation_n they_o be_v i_o say_v of_o very_o great_a use_n in_o the_o place_n where_o they_o live_v as_o i_o remember_v it_o be_v say_v concern_v christ_n when_o he_o be_v that_o that_o make_v they_o grow_v it_o must_v be_v the_o influence_n from_o heaven_n that_o must_v cause_v the_o growth_n of_o saint_n as_o now_o suppose_v that_o the_o ground_n upon_o which_o flower_n and_o herb_n grow_v be_v never_o so_o fertile_a in_o its_o self_n and_o the_o herb_n or_o plant_n be_v never_o so_o well_o root_v in_o the_o earth_n yet_o if_o there_o be_v not_o a_o influence_n of_o heaven_n upon_o they_o they_o will_v not_o grow_v much_o nay_o not_o at_o all_o but_o quick_o wither_v so_o it_o be_v with_o christian_n let_v they_o have_v never_o so_o much_o mean_v of_o grow_v below_o never_o so_o many_o ordinance_n yet_o if_o they_o have_v not_o rich_a dew_n from_o above_o they_o will_v not_o grow_v or_o if_o there_o be_v any_o growth_n yet_o either_o they_o will_v bear_v no_o fruit_n or_o else_o it_o will_v be_v very_o shrifle_v and_o sour_a fruit_n you_o know_v that_o fruit_n that_o have_v the_o most_o of_o the_o beam_n of_o the_o sun_n that_o come_v from_o heaven_n upon_o it_o that_o fruit_n grow_v ripe_a and_o sweet_a than_o other_o fruit_n fruit_n that_o grow_v in_o the_o shade_n that_o have_v the_o influence_n of_o heaven_n keep_v off_o from_o it_o it_o be_v sour_a fruit_n and_o the_o reason_n that_o the_o saint_n have_v so_o little_a fruit_n and_o that_o it_o be_v so_o sour_a it_o be_v because_o that_o they_o have_v not_o more_o influence_n from_o heaven_n they_o do_v not_o stand_v in_o the_o open_a sun_n their_o soul_n be_v not_o present_v daily_o before_o god_n and_o have_v the_o warm_a beam_n of_o the_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n shine_v from_o heaven_n upon_o they_o but_o there_o be_v something_o between_o heaven_n and_o their_o soul_n but_o a_o conversation_n in_o heaven_n as_o it_o will_v be_v a_o convince_v conversation_n so_o it_o will_v be_v a_o grow_v conversation_n chap._n xvi_o a_o heavenly_a conversation_n bring_v much_o glory_n to_o god_n and_o then_o it_o will_v be_v a_o conversation_n glorify_v for_o they_o wherefore_o also_o say_v he_o we_o pray_v always_o for_o you_o that_o our_o god_n will_v count_v you_o worthy_a of_o this_o call_v and_o fulfil_v all_o the_o good_a pleasure_n of_o his_o
