of_o creature_n 11._o there_o may_v be_v sundry_a gradual_a difference_n among_o the_o same_o kind_n of_o being_n thus_o it_o be_v on_o earth_n and_o so_o it_o may_v be_v in_o other_o part_n of_o god_n creation_n among_o man_n that_o be_v of_o the_o same_o specific_a nature_n gradual_a variety_n be_v almost_o infinite_a some_o have_v the_o perfection_n of_o angel_n almost_o and_o other_o be_v raise_v but_o little_a above_o the_o crafty_a sort_n of_o brute_n and_o the_o intermediate_n difference_n between_o these_o extreme_n be_v innumerable_a and_o the_o same_o may_v be_v observe_v in_o other_o kind_n of_o being_n and_o this_o variety_n together_o with_o the_o several_a cause_n reason_n and_o end_v thereof_o will_v afford_v great_a subject_a and_o matter_n for_o speculation_n 12._o the_o supreme_a heaven_n there_o be_v no_o doubt_n will_v afford_v and_o minister_v great_a variety_n of_o wonder_n to_o our_o meditation_n it_o be_v the_o palace_n of_o the_o great_a king_n it_o be_v the_o house_n of_o god_n the_o place_n wherein_o he_o give_v the_o great_a demonstration_n of_o his_o glorious_a perfection_n and_o especial_o of_o his_o kindness_n and_o remunerate_a bounty_n and_o grate_n and_o certain_o such_o a_o place_n must_v needs_o be_v very_o illustrious_a it_o must_v be_v adorn_v with_o thing_n great_a and_o wonderful_a it_o must_v be_v embellish_v with_o what_o will_v create_v ecstasy_n and_o admiration_n nothing_o mean_a be_v see_v in_o the_o court_n of_o great_a king_n all_o thing_n there_o be_v full_a of_o splendour_n stately_a magnificenct_a and_o become_v their_o grandeur_n and_o greatness_n and_o it_o can_v be_v suppose_v but_o that_o the_o court_n of_o heaven_n will_v be_v as_o worthy_a of_o god_n and_o as_o suitable_a to_o his_o greatness_n as_o be_v the_o court_n of_o mortal_a king_n 13._o the_o distance_n betwixt_o god_n and_o the_o great_a monarch_n upon_o earth_n be_v infinite_a there_o be_v no_o analogy_n or_o proportion_n between_o their_o greatness_n what_o proportion_n be_v there_o between_o the_o water_n of_o the_o sea_n and_o the_o hollow_a of_o a_o man_n hand_n what_o proportion_n be_v there_o between_o the_o dust_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o a_o measure_n some_o proportion_n there_o be_v between_o they_o because_o they_o be_v all_o finite_a but_o between_o god_n and_o his_o creature_n even_o the_o great_a and_o most_o sublime_a among_o they_o there_o be_v no_o proportion_n god_n be_v of_o boundless_a and_o infinite_a perfection_n and_o they_o be_v all_o of_o limit_a nature_n and_o quality_n 14._o if_o we_o may_v guess_v at_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o court_n of_o god_n by_o the_o transcendent_a greatness_n of_o his_o essence_n and_o perfection_n and_o i_o know_v not_o by_o what_o else_o we_o may_v make_v our_o conjecture_n concern_v it_o we_o must_v say_v that_o the_o splendour_n of_o it_o surpass_v that_o of_o the_o court_n of_o mortal_a king_n almost_o as_o much_o as_o god_n surpass_v them_o the_o fabric_n of_o heaven_n that_o house_n not_o make_v with_o hand_n transcend_v the_o most_o pompous_a palace_n of_o prince_n almost_o as_o much_o as_o god_n transcend_v they_o in_o power_n state_n and_o glory_n 15._o in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n at_o least_o after_o the_o resurrection_n man_n will_v be_v compound_v of_o a_o body_n and_o a_o soul_n and_o this_o glorious_a fabric_n will_v contribute_v much_o towards_o the_o happiness_n of_o both_o it_o will_v be_v a_o object_n and_o a_o state_n suitable_a to_o the_o sense_n and_o appetite_n of_o the_o glorious_a and_o spiritual_a body_n where-withal_a they_o will_v be_v endow_v what_o those_o sense_n and_o appetite_n will_v be_v i_o can_v define_v nor_o how_o great_a the_o change_n and_o advantage_n will_v be_v that_o they_o will_v receive_v with_o the_o change_n and_o alteration_n of_o the_o body_n on_o that_o great_a day_n but_o all_o confess_v and_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n of_o it_o that_o the_o one_o will_v be_v the_o rule_n and_o the_o measure_n of_o the_o other_o the_o change_n of_o the_o body_n will_v give_v law_n as_o it_o be_v to_o the_o change_n of_o the_o sense_n and_o bodily_a appetite_n that_o shall_v be_v continue_v unto_o it_o 16._o but_o it_o be_v the_o soul_n that_o will_v receive_v the_o great_a advantage_n and_o happiness_n by_o the_o enjoyment_n and_o possession_n of_o this_o house_n of_o god_n thereby_o it_o will_v learn_v much_o of_o the_o divine_a excellency_n and_o perfection_n much_o of_o his_o power_n wisdom_n and_o goodness_n much_o of_o his_o love_n and_o kindness_n much_o of_o the_o vnfathomable_a riches_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o it_o be_v therein_o that_o the_o happiness_n of_o man_n do_v consist_v that_o i_o conceive_v be_v the_o vision_n of_o god_n in_o which_o almost_o all_o divine_n do_v place_n the_o supreme_a felicity_n and_o happiness_n 17._o yet_o either_o voluntary_o or_o by_o command_n the_o bless_a inhabitant_n of_o heaven_n may_v leave_v those_o happy_a mansion_n and_o traverse_v and_o view_v the_o whole_a creation_n of_o god_n here_o we_o may_v observe_v man_n travel_v from_o one_o kingdom_n to_o another_o to_o observe_v the_o manner_n and_o custom_n the_o law_n government_n and_o institution_n by_o which_o they_o be_v govern_v and_o under_o which_o they_o live_v as_o also_o to_o take_v knowledge_n of_o whatsoever_o be_v rare_a and_o peculiar_a stupendous_a and_o worthy_a of_o observation_n and_o i_o do_v not_o know_v but_o the_o bless_a may_v pass_v from_o one_o part_n of_o the_o world_n to_o another_o and_o behold_v whatever_o be_v curious_a and_o admirable_a in_o they_o and_o what_o wonder_v of_o power_n wisdom_n and_o goodness_n may_v be_v find_v in_o every_o of_o they_o who_o can_v imagine_v and_o how_o much_o of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o divine_a attribute_n may_v be_v illustrate_v by_o they_o who_o can_v determine_v 18._o the_o scripture_n do_v assure_v we_o that_o the_o holy_a angel_n do_v sometime_o converse_v and_o be_v employ_v here_o below_o '_o though_o heaven_n be_v their_o home_n and_o country_n and_o they_o be_v therefore_o call_v the_o angel_n of_o heaven_n yet_o sometime_o they_o spend_v a_o little_a time_n on_o earth_n and_o many_o thing_n do_v they_o observe_v and_o learn_v here._n what_o they_o know_v of_o the_o redemption_n of_o the_o world_n by_o a_o saviour_n and_o of_o the_o warfare_n that_o be_v betwixt_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o woman_n and_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o serpent_n they_o know_v by_o the_o church_n and_o the_o revelation_n that_o be_v make_v unto_o it_o together_o with_o the_o experience_n that_o they_o have_v of_o the_o conduct_n and_o success_n thereof_o and_o if_o the_o holy_a angel_n of_o heaven_n learn_v many_o thing_n from_o this_o earth_n the_o bless_a may_v learn_v many_o thing_n from_o this_o and_o other_o world_n and_o part_n of_o god_n creation_n 19_o for_o something_o may_v be_v know_v of_o god_n which_o the_o heaven_n of_o heaven_n do_v not_o reveal_v or_o discover_v though_o they_o be_v a_o most_o illustrious_a glass_n in_o which_o the_o face_n of_o god_n may_v be_v see_v yet_o i_o be_o not_o sure_a that_o they_o do_v reveal_v all_o that_o the_o bless_a be_v capable_a of_o know_v concern_v he_o something_n the_o bless_a may_v learn_v in_o other_o part_n of_o the_o universe_n which_o they_o can_v learn_v in_o the_o paradise_n of_o god_n not_o that_o god_n can_v not_o make_v it_o know_v unto_o they_o there_o but_o he_o choose_v several_a creature_n and_o several_a part_n of_o the_o creation_n upon_o which_o to_o impress_v the_o image_n and_o footstep_n of_o his_o perfection_n and_o by_o they_o to_o propose_v they_o to_o the_o view_n and_o knowledge_n of_o rational_a being_n for_o it_o be_v they_o alone_o that_o be_v capable_a of_o see_v and_o behold_v they_o 20._o all_o god_n work_n do_v manifest_a and_o show_v forth_o his_o glorious_a attribute_n and_o perfection_n the_o firmament_n show_v his_o handy_a work_n the_o sun_n moon_n and_o star_n in_o their_o essence_n regular_a motion_n influence_n and_o effect_n do_v declare_v his_o infinite_a power_n wisdom_n and_o goodness_n there_o be_v not_o a_o creature_n in_o the_o heaven_n or_o in_o the_o earth_n which_o do_v not_o teach_v and_o reveal_v something_o of_o the_o admirable_a excellency_n of_o their_o maker_n and_o if_o this_o world_n and_o all_o the_o being_n in_o it_o do_v speak_v forth_o the_o glory_n and_o perfection_n of_o the_o great_a god_n it_o can_v be_v doubt_v but_o that_o whatever_o other_o world_n there_o be_v have_v be_v or_o may_v be_v will_v speak_v the_o same_o language_n god_n make_v all_o thing_n for_o himself_o that_o be_v for_o the_o discovery_n of_o himself_o and_o illustration_n of_o
his_o boundless_a perfection_n 21._o god_n know_v his_o own_o excellency_n and_o needs_o no_o effect_n for_o the_o discovery_n of_o they_o he_o need_v not_o this_o or_o any_o other_o world_n to_o acquaint_v himself_o with_o the_o extent_n of_o his_o power_n his_o wisdom_n or_o his_o goodness_n these_o and_o all_o his_o other_o attribute_n be_v perfect_o understand_v by_o he_o he_o do_v not_o nor_o can_v learn_v any_o thing_n concern_v they_o from_o the_o work_n of_o his_o hand_n his_o creature_n do_v not_o teach_v he_o knowledge_n nor_o do_v he_o gain_v any_o understanding_n by_o the_o effect_n of_o his_o creative_a power_n and_o virtue_n 22._o therefore_o reasonable_a creature_n must_v contemplate_v and_o behold_v they_o or_o it_o will_v be_v very_o hard_a in_o my_o apprehension_n to_o give_v any_o fair_a account_n of_o they_o of_o what_o use_n be_v the_o heaven_n and_o the_o earth_n the_o sea_n and_o the_o dry_a ground_n with_o those_o various_a and_o almost_o innumerable_a sort_n and_o kind_n of_o being_n that_o be_v in_o it_o if_o there_o be_v no_o intelligent_a being_n to_o behold_v view_v and_o consider_v they_o why_o be_v they_o make_v and_o why_o do_v god_n engrave_v his_o own_o image_n and_o impress_v the_o character_n of_o his_o own_o perfection_n on_o they_o if_o there_o be_v no_o intellectual_a essence_n to_o observe_v they_o and_o if_o this_o fabric_n that_o our_o eye_n behold_v be_v make_v to_o be_v a_o glass_n in_o which_o man_n and_o angel_n may_v see_v and_o contemplate_v the_o glory_n of_o its_o maker_n such_o will_v be_v the_o use_n of_o all_o other_o world_n that_o have_v be_v be_v or_o may_v be_v they_o will_v be_v also_o mirror_n in_o which_o understanding_n and_o intelligent_a being_n will_v behold_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o among_o they_o the_o blessed-inhabitant_n of_o heaven_n 23._o it_o be_v true_a in_o the_o present_a state_n and_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o darkness_n and_o impotence_n that_o sin_n have_v introduce_v upon_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n this_o world_n be_v in_o great_a degree_n useless_a with_o regard_n to_o the_o principal_a and_o main_a end_n of_o it_o it_o be_v build_v frame_v and_o fashion_v to_o reveal_v god_n unto_o they_o and_o it_o bear_v very_o apparent_a character_n of_o a_o deity_n upon_o it_o but_o man_n be_v blind_a and_o can_v see_v they_o or_o lazy_a and_o negligent_a and_o will_v not_o observe_v they_o or_o engage_v in_o the_o prosecution_n of_o pleasure_n profit_n and_o honour_n and_o can_v attend_v to_o consider_v they_o but_o in_o my_o opinion_n this_o only_a prove_n that_o there_o be_v other_o intellectual_a being_n that_o do_v contemplate_v god_n in_o the_o several_a creature_n and_o sort_n of_o essence_n that_o be_v here_o below_o and_o that_o though_o the_o world_n be_v make_v chief_o to_o reveal_v god_n to_o man_n yet_o that_o be_v not_o the_o only_a use_n of_o it_o but_o that_o angel_n may_v therein_o see_v and_o behold_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o if_o this_o world_n be_v make_v partly_o for_o the_o use_n and_o contemplation_n of_o angel_n it_o be_v not_o improbable_a but_o that_o this_o and_o other_o world_n may_v be_v also_o make_v partly_o for_o the_o use_n and_o contemplation_n of_o the_o bless_a and_o glorify_a saint_n of_o heaven_n 24._o yet_o i_o must_v add_v that_o this_o world_n be_v of_o use_n to_o mankind_n some_o among_o they_o do_v see_v and_o discern_v a_o god_n if_o infinite_a excellency_n and_o perfection_n therein_o and_o more_o may_v do_v so_o if_o they_o will_v apply_v themselves_o to_o consider_v it_o think_v sin_n have_v darken_v the_o eye_n of_o the_o mind_n it_o have_v not_o utter_o extinguish_v and_o put_v it_o out_o something_o it_o may_v still_o see_v of_o god_n in_o the_o creation_n if_o it_o will_v put_v itself_o on_o the_o meditation_n of_o they_o but_o if_o it_o be_v grant_v that_o mankind_n be_v utter_o disable_v from_o see_v or_o learn_v any_o thing_n of_o god_n from_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v see_v yet_o it_o will_v not_o follow_v that_o it_o be_v vseless_a to_o he_o thing_n may_v be_v in_o their_o own_o nature_n useful_a to_o certain_a end_n and_o purpose_n though_o man_n may_v have_v voluntary_o make_v themselves_o incapable_a of_o use_v they_o wholesome_a meat_n and_o drink_n may_v be_v useful_a for_o the_o nourish_a of_o humane_a body_n though_o some_o person_n may_v have_v so_o injure_v their_o constitution_n and_o destroy_v their_o stomach_n and_o digestive_a faculty_n by_o intemperance_n that_o they_o be_v uncapable_a of_o make_v that_o use_n of_o it_o and_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o the_o world_n be_v of_o use_n to_o teach_v man_n god_n though_o man_n be_v utter_o disable_v so_o to_o use_v and_o employ_v it_o 25._o the_o sum_n of_o i_o shall_v here_o premise_v that_o i_o do_v not_o positive_o affirm_v that_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o bless_a will_v increase_v by_o all_o these_o way_n in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v nor_o that_o there_o be_v no_o other_o way_n of_o make_v addition_n to_o it_o all_o that_o i_o shall_v affirm_v be_v that_o it_o be_v possible_a yea_o and_o probable_a that_o it_o may_v be_v augment_v by_o have_v of_o person_n city_n village_n and_o country_n by_o ocular_a and_o present_a inspection_n differ_v from_o the_o knowledge_n that_o i_o have_v of_o they_o by_o view_v their_o picture_n and_o statue_n or_o inspect_v the_o map_n and_o delineation_n of_o they_o the_o knowledge_n that_o we_o have_v of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o the_o person_n of_o our_o saviour_n in_o it_o differ_v much_o from_o that_o which_o the_o bless_a saint_n and_o angel_n have_v concern_v they_o they_o be_v present_a and_o intuitive_a we_o be_v absent_a and_o abstractive_a we_o obtain_v it_o by_o consider_v the_o report_n that_o be_v make_v and_o the_o description_n that_o be_v give_v of_o they_o in_o the_o book_n of_o god_n whereas_o they_o be_v attain_v by_o the_o vision_n presence_n and_o inspection_n of_o those_o thing_n themselves_o 3._o in_o this_o world_n it_o be_v but_o very_o little_a that_o we_o know_v by_o intuition_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v our_o presence_n be_v limit_v and_o confine_v we_o be_v fix_v to_o a_o little_a spot_n of_o god_n creation_n and_o can_v view_n at_o once_o but_o few_o of_o the_o creature_n of_o god_n and_o though_o by_o local_a motion_n we_o be_v able_a to_o remove_v ourselves_o from_o place_n to_o place_n and_o view_v many_o thing_n successive_o by_o present_a intuition_n which_o at_o once_o we_o can_v do_v yet_o the_o sphere_n of_o our_o activity_n be_v small_a and_o it_o be_v with_o difficulty_n and_o slow_a motion_n that_o we_o do_v pass_v through_o it_o it_o take_v up_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o time_n to_o the_o moon_n be_v a_o habitable_a world_n as_o it_o be_v not_o altogether_o improbable_a i_o see_v no_o reason_n why_o we_o may_v not_o think_v the_o same_o of_o all_o the_o other_o luminous_a body_n that_o be_v place_v in_o the_o expand_v heaven_n if_o that_o planet_n be_v a_o world_n much_o like_o our_o earth_n the_o sun_n may_v be_v a_o world_n something_o advance_v above_o it_o in_o lustre_n and_o in_o glory_n and_o the_o inhabitant_n thereof_o may_v be_v illustrious_a in_o proportion_n to_o their_o country_n and_o excel_v we_o who_o live_v upon_o this_o earth_n as_o much_o as_o the_o lustre_n and_o brightness_n of_o the_o one_o surmount_v the_o shadow_n and_o darkness_n of_o the_o other_o 24._o and_o the_o bless_a be_v of_o a_o very_o active_a nature_n and_o capable_a of_o move_v with_o velocity_n and_o swiftness_n may_v step_v from_o star_n to_o star_n and_o intuitive_o observe_v whatever_o be_v wonderful_a and_o worthy_a of_o observation_n there_o they_o may_v observe_v whatever_o in_o they_o be_v fit_a to_o exalt_v the_o honour_n and_o advance_v the_o praâ—â—ens_n of_o their_o great_a creator_n and_o it_o need_v not_o to_o be_v doubt_v but_o they_o will_v find_v sufficient_a reason_n and_o occasion_n for_o it_o there_o be_v something_o great_a in_o all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o surface_n of_o this_o earth_n and_o in_o the_o sea_n and_o river_n that_o run_v within_o the_o bank_n and_o shores_n thereof_o and_o sure_o the_o more_o illustrious_a world_n and_o part_n of_o the_o creation_n will_v produce_v thing_n vast_o great_a than_o any_o that_o be_v find_v here_o below_o and_o more_o worthy_a of_o admiration_n 25._o but_o no_o part_n of_o the_o universe_n will_v produce_v thing_n so_o great_a as_o will_v the_o court_n of_o heaven_n there_o shall_v we_o see_v and_o behold_v the_o brave_a the_o most_o stately_a and_o most_o magnificent_a effect_n of_o the_o divine_a power_n wisdom_n and_o goodness_n and_o how_o great_a be_v the_o extent_n of_o that_o glorious_a palace_n and_o what_o great_a variety_n of_o being_n may_v be_v find_v there_o who_o can_v determine_v if_o the_o earth_n compare_v with_o the_o heaven_n be_v but_o a_o point_n the_o heaven_n compare_v with_o the_o heaven_n of_o heaven_n may_v be_v much_o more_o so_o the_o extent_n thereof_o may_v be_v almost_o infinite_a and_o though_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o other_o world_n either_o past_a present_a or_o to_o come_v yet_o even_o that_o alone_o may_v employ_v eternal_a age_n to_o view_v and_o behold_v the_o wonder_n and_o the_o glory_n of_o it_o 26._o the_o gradual_a difference_n may_v be_v very_o great_a and_o many_o and_o so_o may_v be_v the_o reason_n of_o they_o and_o all_o these_o will_v lie_v open_a to_o our_o view_n and_o meditation_n 27._o what_o kind_n of_o being_n may_v be_v design_v and_o prepare_v for_o the_o ornament_n of_o the_o new_a jerusalem_n that_o city_n of_o the_o live_a god_n i_o can_v say_v or_o determine_v but_o forasmuch_o as_o there_o be_v many_o thing_n here_o below_o which_o beside_o the_o illustration_n of_o the_o divine_a perfection_n seem_v to_o be_v of_o little_a or_o no_o use_n unless_o it_o be_v though_o not_o so_o full_o as_o he_o know_v they_o 25._o 4._o beside_o those_o word_n of_o the_o apostle_n mention_v in_o the_o objection_n may_v be_v understand_v in_o a_o transient_a and_o retain_v the_o idea_n of_o thing_n there_o yet_o forasmuch_o as_o there_o be_v no_o counterpart_n of_o they_o in_o the_o thing_n themselves_o all_o be_v obliterated_a by_o the_o death_n and_o
