life_n pray_v for_o strength_n of_o grace_n to_o stand_v against_o all_o his_o assault_n whereby_o we_o may_v see_v the_o great_a error_n and_o deceit_n of_o those_o who_o account_n of_o satan_n temptation_n as_o of_o fit_n of_o melancholy_n and_o think_v they_o may_v be_v remove_v by_o music_n merry_a company_n and_o such_o like_a but_o these_o be_v no_o weapon_n to_o drive_v away_o the_o devil_n second_o this_o also_o show_v their_o dangerous_a course_n who_o yield_v to_o satan_n temptation_n for_o a_o time_n take_v their_o pleasure_n in_o their_o youth_n purpose_v to_o resist_v he_o when_o they_o be_v old_a and_o then_o to_o repent_v too_o many_o take_v this_o course_n but_o it_o be_v fearful_a for_o thus_o do_v they_o set_v open_v all_o the_o door_n of_o their_o heart_n to_o they_o become_v like_a to_o a_o man_n that_o be_v sick_a of_o the_o dropsy_n who_o the_o more_o he_o drink_v the_o more_o he_o desire_v so_o he_o that_o willing_o give_v place_n to_o satan_n law_n and_o such_o be_v this_o obedience_n of_o satan_n force_v upon_o he_o by_o the_o powerful_a command_n of_o christ_n who_o be_v prince_n and_o lord_n of_o all_o creature_n and_o this_o be_v to_o be_v mark_v that_o when_o christ_n give_v forth_o his_o powerful_a command_n than_o satan_n must_v obey_v whether_o he_o will_v or_o not_o this_o be_v evident_a by_o his_o manifold_a dispossession_n of_o unclean_a spirit_n who_o come_v forth_o at_o his_o command_n though_o they_o account_v he_o as_o their_o tormenter_n now_o that_o which_o here_o befall_v the_o devil_n shall_v one_o day_n be_v verify_v of_o all_o wicked_a man_n if_o they_o will_v not_o now_o obey_v god_n willing_o while_o in_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n he_o bid_v they_o repent_v and_o believe_v the_o gospel_n they_o shall_v one_o day_n be_v compel_v even_o at_o the_o dreadful_a day_n of_o judgement_n will_v they_o will_v they_o to_o obey_v that_o woeful_a voice_n of_o christ_n depart_v from_o i_o you_o saviour_n christ._n whereby_o it_o appear_v that_o christ_n be_v tempt_v in_o the_o high_a degree_n and_o measure_n that_o satan_n possible_o can_v attain_v unto_o herein_o do_v the_o devil_n show_v keep_v all_o god_n child_n despair_n from_o despair_n in_o the_o great_a extremity_n of_o their_o temptation_n even_o when_o they_o shall_v feel_v their_o conscience_n as_o it_o be_v set_v on_o a_o iron_n rack_n and_o the_o slashing_n of_o hell_n fire_n already_o kindle_v in_o their_o soul_n for_o christ_n
unto_o his_o church_n and_o child_n not_o only_o in_o bestow_v heaven_n and_o earth_n upon_o they_o but_o even_o give_v his_o glorious_a angel_n to_o become_v minister_a spirit_n for_o their_o protection_n defence_n &_o comfort_n ii_o this_o their_o ministry_n must_v admonish_v we_o to_o carry_v ourselves_o reverent_o and_o holy_o in_o all_o manner_n of_o conversation_n if_o we_o be_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o a_o earthly_a prince_n oh_o how_o careful_a will_v we_o be_v to_o our_o behaviour_n both_o for_o word_n &_o action_n much_o more_o than_o shall_v the_o presence_n and_o attendance_n of_o god_n glorious_a angel_n who_o pitch_n their_o tent_n about_o we_o if_o we_o be_v god_n child_n make_v we_o circumspect_a to_o all_o our_o way_n and_o the_o rather_o because_o their_o ministry_n be_v for_o our_o comfort_n and_o protection_n while_o we_o keep_v ourselves_o in_o the_o straight_a way_n of_o god_n ii_o point_n their_o number_n it_o be_v not_o say_v one_o minister_v comfort_n unto_o he_o so_o that_o sometime_o one_o sometime_o more_o attend_v on_o he_o even_o as_o the_o evil_a spirit_n come_v to_o tempt_v sometime_o one_o alone_o as_o satan_n do_v here_o to_o christ_n and_o sometime_o more_o as_o they_o do_v when_o he_o be_v upon_o the_o crosse._n and_o as_o it_o befall_v christ_n so_o do_v it_o to_o god_n child_n they_o have_v sometime_o one_o good_a angel_n to_o attend_v upon_o they_o and_o sometime_o many_o so_o likewise_o have_v they_o sometime_o one_o evil_a spirit_n to_o assault_v they_o and_o sometime_o many_o as_o the_o man_n in_o who_o the_o legion_n be_v and_o hereby_o fall_v to_o the_o ground_n this_o common_a opinion_n that_o every_o man_n have_v one_o good_a angel_n and_o one_o bad_a attend_v upon_o he_o the_o one_o to_o protect_v he_o the_o other_o to_o tempt_v he_o but_o this_o opinion_n do_v not_o well_o stand_v with_o the_o tenor_n of_o the_o scripture_n which_o thus_o set_v out_o the_o state_n of_o man_n in_o regard_n of_o his_o attendance_n by_o angel_n that_o there_o be_v sometime_o more_o about_o he_o and_o sometime_o few_o whether_o we_o speak_v of_o good_a angel_n or_o of_o evil_a spirit_n iii_o point_n the_o time_n when_o these_o good_a angel_n come_v and_o minister_v unto_o christ_n be_v note_v in_o this_o word_n then_o that_o be_v when_o the_o devil_n have_v do_v all_o he_o can_v against_o our_o saviour_n christ_n they_o come_v not_o in_o the_o time_n of_o his_o assault_n but_o when_o satan_n have_v end_v his_o temptation_n and_o be_v go_v there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o the_o good_a angel_n be_v always_o about_o our_o saviour_n christ_n attend_v on_o his_o bless_a person_n but_o at_o this_o time_n it_o be_v like_a they_o take_v upon_o they_o some_o visible_a shape_n that_o so_o their_o ministry_n may_v be_v the_o more_o comfortable_a unto_o he_o as_o it_o be_v like_a the_o devil_n appear_v in_o some_o shape_n for_o christ_n great_a terror_n in_o his_o temptation_n in_o this_o circumstance_n of_o time_n child_n we_o may_v observe_v a_o work_n of_o god_n providence_n which_o he_o please_v to_o exercise_v in_o the_o time_n of_o temptation_n upon_o his_o own_o child_n to_o wit_n for_o a_o time_n to_o hide_v his_o mercy_n from_o they_o withdraw_v the_o sensible_a feel_n of_o his_o favour_n thus_o he_o deal_v with_o his_o belove_a some_o christ_n jesus_n during_o of_o her_o child_n will_v sometime_o hide_v herself_o from_o it_o leave_v it_o alone_o and_o suffer_v it_o to_o take_v a_o knock_n or_o a_o fall_n so_o will_v the_o lord_n leave_v his_o child_n to_o themselves_o &_o conceal_v from_o they_o the_o sign_n of_o his_o favour_n suffer_v they_o to_o be_v buffer_v in_o temptation_n for_o a_o time_n that_o they_o may_v find_v thereby_o what_o they_o be_v in_o themselves_o without_o god_n grace_n and_o by_o feel_v the_o bitterness_n of_o that_o estate_n the_o more_o to_o hunger_n and_o thirst_n after_o his_o grace_n and_o favour_n the_o more_o joyful_o and_o thankful_o to_o embrace_v it_o when_o it_o be_v renew_a and_o the_o more_o careful_o to_o keep_v it_o all_o the_o day_n of_o their_o life_n what_o make_v david_n to_o account_v so_o high_o of_o make_v conformable_a unto_o their_o head_n now_o he_o be_v consecrate_v the_o prince_n of_o their_o salvation_n through_o affliction_n heb._n 2._o 10_o his_o soul_n be_v heavy_a unto_o the_o death_n before_o he_o can_v finish_v the_o work_n of_o our_o life_n yea_o he_o be_v tempt_v by_o satan_n before_o he_o be_v comfort_v by_o the_o angel_n those_o therefore_o that_o be_v never_o tempt_v have_v
