see_v they_o can_v know_v in_o these_o thing_n the_o mind_n of_o the_o lord_n nor_o as_o solomon_n say_v who_o shall_v be_v after_o they_o therefore_o their_o watch_n and_o care_n over_o their_o life_n must_v be_v more_o continual_a this_o be_v a_o good_a lesson_n for_o we_o to_o mark_v because_o our_o case_n be_v the_o very_a same_o with_o the_o case_n of_o the_o jew_n we_o be_v threaten_v as_o they_o be_v and_o we_o know_v no_o more_o than_o they_o do_v let_v we_o therefore_o watch_v in_o repentance_n that_o if_o our_o calamity_n increase_v we_o may_v be_v ready_a for_o the_o grave_n and_o if_o it_o be_v reverse_a we_o may_v be_v ready_a for_o praise_n be_v thou_o desirous_a to_o make_v profit_n of_o the_o thing_n thou_o know_v not_o then_o be_v repentant_a for_o death_n and_o life_n joy_n and_o sorrow_n pain_n and_o ease_n riches_n and_o poverty_n freedom_n and_o danger_n be_v both_o alike_o to_o a_o repentant_a man_n the_o first_o reason_n because_o by_o this_o mean_n 1._o we_o be_v teach_v humility_n rom._n 9_o 20._o because_o we_o be_v not_o able_a to_o reason_n with_o god_n or_o to_o plead_v against_o he_o for_o we_o be_v in_o his_o hand_n as_o clay_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o potter_n where_o be_v all_o our_o gallant_a youth_n and_o lusty_a mind_a person_n who_o head_n be_v so_o full_a of_o knowledge_n that_o they_o be_v able_a to_o teach_v the_o apostle_n and_o no_o marvel_n for_o it_o appear_v by_o their_o life_n bear_v themselves_o like_o god_n in_o the_o world_n but_o look_v on_o your_o mind_n again_o you_o shall_v find_v they_o stuff_v with_o vanity_n and_o not_o fill_v with_o knowledge_n if_o you_o know_v one_o thing_n you_o be_v ignorant_a of_o a_o thousand_o therefore_o let_v this_o teach_v you_o that_o your_o mind_n be_v carnal_a your_o life_n be_v sensual_a and_o your_o soul_n endanger_v except_o you_o think_v better_o of_o other_o and_o base_a of_o yourselves_o learn_v humility_n of_o thyself_o thy_o body_n be_v glorious_a for_o neither_o man_n nor_o angel_n can_v do_v the_o like_a and_o in_o this_o short_a sentence_n the_o apostle_n have_v lap_v up_o all_o religion_n will_v thou_o know_v how_o to_o be_v save_v look_v to_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n will_v thou_o know_v how_o to_o live_v look_v on_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n and_o will_v thou_o know_v what_o to_o profess_v then_o consider_v the_o shall_v be_v more_o against_o they_o then_o all_o the_o world_n and_o their_o help_n of_o nature_n shall_v give_v they_o over_o and_o they_o leave_v destitute_a of_o all_o hope_n shall_v be_v deliver_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o devil_n and_o sure_o they_o which_o scorn_v the_o company_n of_o god_n his_o saint_n on_o the_o earth_n be_v worthy_a to_o be_v tear_v by_o the_o tooth_n and_o thou_o may_v be_v desirous_a to_o go_v to_o god_n in_o heaven_n for_o be_v assure_v that_o if_o thou_o fear_v judgement_n and_o wish_v it_o may_v never_o be_v thou_o be_v in_o a_o pitiful_a case_n for_o thy_o conscience_n do_v already_o condemn_v thou_o and_o if_o thou_o despise_v judgement_n and_o watch_v not_o for_o it_o thou_o be_v more_o reckless_a for_o thou_o resiste_v god_n but_o if_o of_o god_n matth._n 26._o 64._o they_o which_o will_v not_o feel_v the_o power_n of_o god_n in_o save_v they_o shall_v feel_v it_o in_o condemn_v they_o and_o therefore_o as_o the_o power_n of_o god_n make_v pharaoh_n to_o yield_v to_o moses_n and_o aaron_n and_o make_v sisera_n to_o yield_v to_o deborah_n and_o make_v goliath_n to_o yield_v to_o david_n and_o make_v the_o temple_n to_o rend_v a_o sunder_o when_o christ_n be_v crucify_v and_o the_o sun_n to_o loose_v her_o light_n shall_v compel_v the_o wicked_a to_o the_o judgement_n seat_n of_o god_n another_o reason_n be_v because_o their_o hope_n for_o help_n or_o mercy_n 2_o or_o pardon_n be_v but_o in_o vain_a lam._n 4._o 17._o and_o therefore_o although_o they_o will_v escape_v yet_o their_o hope_n shall_v deceive_v they_o as_o the_o mother_n and_o wife_n of_o sisera_n which_o tell_v of_o the_o victory_n when_o in_o the_o end_n it_o turn_v to_o their_o own_o overthrow_n i_o do_v but_o brief_o touch_v these_o thing_n because_o i_o death_n to_o heaven_n not_o to_o hell_n make_v no_o excuse_n for_o thy_o absence_n admit_v no_o delay_n for_o thy_o hindrance_n suffer_v no_o temptation_n for_o thy_o allurement_n and_o let_v not_o the_o wife_n of_o thy_o youth_n keep_v thou_o from_o prayer_n and_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n fear_v god_n more_o than_o love_v the_o world_n hate_v evil_o more_o than_o love_v thy_o wife_n say_v and_o persuade_v ourselves_o of_o this_o terror_n of_o god_n 2_o 2._o cor._n 5._o 11._o for_o except_v we_o consider_v before_o hand_n how_o the_o heaven_n shall_v be_v consume_v how_o the_o earth_n shall_v be_v burn_v how_o the_o world_n shall_v be_v end_v and_o how_o the_o lord_n shall_v be_v manifest_v the_o gospel_n will_v be_v but_o a_o weak_a word_n and_o a_o idle_a tale_n unto_o we_o but_o if_o thou_o can_v believe_v the_o last_o judgement_n and_o with_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n behold_v it_o a_o far_o off_o and_o tremble_v at_o the_o secret_a meditation_n thereof_o than_o thou_o may_v easy_o feel_v the_o power_n of_o life_n unto_o life_n and_o happy_o forsake_v the_o sentence_n of_o death_n therefore_o evermore_o remember_v judgement_n at_o thy_o feast_n in_o thy_o bed_n on_o thy_o table_n in_o the_o morning_n at_o thy_o labour_n before_o thy_o sleep_n and_o with_o thy_o friend_n that_o thou_o and_o they_o be_v not_o of_o the_o kindred_n of_o the_o earth_n which_o shall_v wail_v and_o lament_v before_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n revel_v 1._o 7._o there_o will_v i_o plead_v with_o they_o have_v finish_v the_o gather_v together_o of_o the_o wicked_a into_o the_o place_n of_o judgement_n now_o it_o remain_v that_o we_o go_v on_o to_o the_o cause_n of_o their_o destruction_n which_o the_o lord_n here_o open_v as_o pleader_n do_v in_o their_o court_n at_o the_o law_n and_o therefore_o he_o say_v that_o he_o will_v plead_v with_o they_o for_o his_o people_n allude_v to_o the_o manner_n of_o worldly_a judgement_n so_o that_o here_o we_o may_v see_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v both_o judge_n &_o counsellor_n for_o his_o church_n which_o may_v great_o comfort_v we_o and_o discomfort_v our_o enemy_n for_o the_o lord_n who_o be_v to_o tally_n for_o we_o and_o eager_o against_o they_o have_v the_o whole_a law_n in_o his_o own_o hand_n but_o in_o this_o that_o he_o say_v judgement_n he_o will_v plead_v with_o they_o we_o may_v note_v that_o god_n will_v open_v all_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o wicked_a in_o judgement_n eccles_n 11._o 9_o for_o pleader_n will_v not_o omit_v any_o thing_n which_o may_v discredit_v their_o adversary_n or_o the_o cause_n against_o which_o they_o speak_v yea_o they_o will_v suspect_v those_o thing_n which_o they_o can_v gainsay_v and_o condemn_v those_o thing_n very_o peremptory_o which_o they_o can_v any_o way_n blemish_n in_o like_a sort_n the_o lord_n when_o he_o shall_v draw_v thou_o to_o judgement_n will_v there_o open_v all_o thy_o life_n and_o tell_v thy_o secret_a whoredom_n thy_o hide_a theft_n thy_o often_o blasphemy_n thy_o idle_a word_n thy_o vain_a expense_n thy_o proud_a gesture_n thy_o idle_a worship_n thy_o friend-pleasing_a vanity_n and_o all_o thy_o hypocrisy_n thy_o charity_n he_o will_v defame_v with_o vainglory_n thy_o prayer_n he_o will_v account_v abomination_n thy_o fast_n he_o will_v call_v dissemble_v and_o thy_o gentle_a nature_n shall_v be_v account_v a_o flatter_a virtue_n all_o this_o will_v he_o bring_v to_o judgement_n he_o will_v prove_v it_o by_o thy_o conscience_n he_o will_v condemn_v it_o by_o his_o gospel_n and_o he_o will_v punish_v it_o by_o condemnation_n oh_o then_o shall_v thy_o fault_n be_v write_v in_o thy_o forehead_n that_o all_o may_v know_v they_o and_o thy_o privy_a do_n blow_v with_o a_o trumpet_n that_o all_o may_v hear_v they_o and_o thy_o forswear_a sin_n open_v by_o a_o crier_n that_o all_o may_v loathe_v they_o oh_o wretched_a wretch_n which_o have_v rather_o abide_v this_o judgement_n of_o god_n then_o that_o which_o be_v in_o this_o life_n but_o if_o thou_o have_v any_o mean_n to_o persuade_v thy_o soul_n unto_o goodness_n or_o to_o terrify_v thy_o flesh_n from_o evil_a let_v this_o help_v it_o forward_o that_o god_n shall_v open_v all_o thy_o fault_n at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n and_o discredit_v all_o thy_o virtue_n be_v they_o never_o so_o many_o or_o never_o so_o glorious_a think_v not_o that_o thy_o good_a deed_n shall_v overcome_v thy_o evil_a but_o as_o one_o blemish_n disfigure_v a_o whole_a body_n so_o one_o sin_n will_v disgrace_v a_o whole_a body_n of_o virtue_n the_o reason_n of_o this_o doctrine_n be_v these_o because_o the_o counsel_n of_o every_o hart_n shall_v 1._o then_o be_v manifest_v whether_o it_o be_v good_a or_o evil_n 1._o cor._n 4_o 5._o and_o if_o the_o counsel_n of_o man_n be_v open_v continual_a sight_n and_o remembrance_n then_o shall_v they_o not_o be_v forget_v or_o cover_v when_o the_o number_n shall_v be_v rehearse_v and_o sure_o i_o think_v that_o the_o conscience_n of_o this_o matter_n shall_v mighty_o terrify_v our_o nature_n from_o sin_n see_v that_o all_o our_o offence_n be_v continual_o in_o the_o lord_n memory_n some_o think_v that_o because_o the_o time_n be_v long_o since_o they_o commit_v adultery_n or_o sacrilege_n or_o theft_n or_o drunkenness_n or_o idolatry_n now_o god_n have_v forget_v it_o and_o it_o shall_v never_o more_o be_v lay_v to_o their_o do_v as_o well_o remember_v their_o old_a commit_v sin_n as_o a_o watchman_n remember_v who_o come_v by_o he_o in_o the_o night_n their_o childish_a vanity_n their_o youthful_a wantonness_n their_o sinful_a sport_v their_o filthy_a rest_v their_o babish_a trifle_n and_o their_o merry_a pastime_n be_v fresh_a before_o the_o lord_n 1._o sam._n 15._o 1_o 2_o 3._o the_o lord_n tell_v samuel_n that_o he_o remember_v what_o amalek_n do_v to_o israel_n exod._n 17._o how_o he_o be_v the_o first_o that_o bid_v they_o to_o battle_n after_o they_o come_v out_o of_o egypt_n and_o therefore_o command_v saul_n to_o destroy_v they_o man_n woman_n and_o child_n this_o be_v many_o hundred_o year_n after_o the_o act_n commit_v and_o the_o injury_n offer_v yet_o god_n think_v upon_o it_o although_o they_o have_v be_v already_o well_o punish_v for_o it_o and_o so_o do_v he_o remember_v how_o thou_o have_v oppress_v the_o poor_a long_o ago_o how_o many_o acre_n thou_o have_v encroch_v how_o many_o pound_n thou_o have_v gather_v by_o usury_n how_o many_o man_n cattle_n thou_o have_v buy_v by_o extortion_n and_o final_o how_o often_o in_o thy_o young_a day_n thou_o be_v negligent_a to_o sanctify_v the_o sabbaoth_n if_o thy_o sin_n may_v fall_v from_o thy_o life_n as_o thy_o tooth_n in_o age_n do_v fall_v from_o thy_o mouth_n thou_o be_v happy_a or_o if_o thy_o life_n can_v be_v change_v into_o holiness_n as_o thy_o old_a year_n turn_v thy_o black_a hair_n into_o whiteness_n bless_v be_v thou_o but_o alas_o thy_o strength_n fail_v thy_o beauty_n fade_v thy_o life_n wear_v thy_o hand_n weaken_v thy_o blood_n dri_v thy_o head_n change_v and_o thy_o whole_a body_n stoop_v to_o the_o earth_n yet_o thy_o wickedness_n remain_v untouched_a and_o unblasted_a as_o the_o juie_n which_o be_v thick_a and_o green_a when_o it_o have_v kill_v and_o wither_v the_o great_a oak_n the_o use_n which_o come_v use_v of_o this_o doctrine_n be_v the_o same_o that_o the_o most_o wise_a preacher_n that_o ever_o be_v teach_v we_o eccles_n 12._o 13._o that_o see_v god_n will_v bring_v every_o secret_a work_n into_o judgement_n therefore_o fear_v he_o and_o keep_v his_o commandment_n how_o many_o way_n we_o be_v teach_v to_o fear_v the_o lord_n appear_v in_o the_o former_a sermon_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v needless_a to_o urge_v this_o exhortation_n any_o far_o in_o this_o place_n but_o if_o we_o consider_v that_o if_o it_o be_v such_o a_o shame_n to_o endure_v the_o speech_n of_o friend_n and_o enemy_n in_o this_o life_n for_o the_o fault_n we_o have_v commit_v how_o much_o more_o ought_v we_o to_o blush_v before_o the_o lord_n with_o all_o the_o angel_n of_o heaven_n and_o all_o the_o man_n that_o ever_o be_v be_v or_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o world_n when_o at_o the_o latter_a day_n our_o fault_n shall_v be_v open_v when_o every_o one_o shall_v hiss_v at_o our_o filthiness_n and_o laugh_v at_o our_o wickedness_n oh_o confess_v thyself_o to_o a_o few_o in_o this_o world_n rather_o than_o defer_v to_o be_v reveal_v before_o all_o in_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n think_v not_o that_o thy_o own_o estate_n will_v be_v any_o thing_n more_o tolerable_a because_o all_o other_o man_n shall_v have_v their_o fault_n also_o rip_v up_o and_o repeat_v for_o the_o more_o the_o worse_o a_o judge_n will_v be_v more_o easy_o entreat_v for_o one_o then_o for_o twenty_o and_o therefore_o god_n will_v be_v less_o partial_a because_o so_o many_o shall_v be_v find_v guilty_a fear_v not_o shame_n but_o death_n abstain_v not_o from_o sin_n for_o the_o world_n sake_n but_o for_o the_o lord_n sake_n and_o let_v not_o other_o man_n voice_n more_o appal_v thou_o than_o the_o sentence_n of_o god_n it_o have_v be_v heretofore_o and_o shall_v be_v hereafter_o more_o manifest_o show_v that_o god_n do_v no_o more_o spare_v a_o multitude_n then_o a_o man_n or_o many_o than_o one_o and_o therefore_o never_o flatter_v thyself_o in_o the_o matter_n but_o only_o use_v the_o time_n and_o these_o admonition_n that_o god_n may_v forget_v thy_o sin_n and_o then_o they_o shall_v be_v forgive_v thou_o and_o if_o they_o be_v forgive_v they_o shall_v not_o be_v open_v but_o silence_v at_o the_o latter_a day_n for_o although_o we_o shall_v then_o hear_v of_o the_o murder_n that_o cain_n do_v of_o the_o mock_a that_o ishmael_n do_v of_o the_o filthiness_n that_o er_fw-mi and_o onan_n do_v of_o the_o rebellion_n of_o absalon_n and_o the_o treason_n of_o judas_n yet_o we_o shall_v not_o hear_v of_o noah_n drunkenness_n or_o lot_n incest_n or_o joseph_n oath_n or_o moses_n unfaithfulnesse_n or_o david_n adultery_n or_o peter_n denial_n or_o of_o any_o of_o the_o fault_n of_o the_o elect_a for_o their_o sin_n shall_v remain_v in_o the_o grave_n when_o their_o body_n be_v raise_v up_o to_o the_o joy_n of_o another_o life_n the_o xxxiiij_o sermon_n for_o my_o people_n in_o these_o word_n we_o may_v observe_v that_o god_n will_v judge_v the_o world_n condemn_v thou_o for_o they_o but_o yet_o the_o special_a cause_n why_o he_o sit_v in_o judgement_n at_o the_o latter_a day_n with_o all_o the_o world_n before_o he_o be_v that_o he_o may_v make_v inquisition_n for_o the_o blood_n of_o his_o saint_n and_o justify_v his_o child_n who_o the_o world_n condemn_v the_o reason_n be_v first_o because_o he_o be_v the_o life_n of_o the_o faithful_a
