note_v for_o this_o purpose_n what_o saint_n paul_n say_v of_o god_n mercy_n to_o he_o who_o have_v be_v in_o former_a time_n a_o blasphemer_n 16._o for_o this_o cause_n i_o obtain_v mercy_n that_o in_o i_o first_o jesus_n christ_n may_v show_v forth_o all_o long_a suffering_n for_o a_o pattern_n to_o they_o which_o shall_v hereafter_o believe_v in_o he_o to_o life_n everlasting_a cease_v therefore_o to_o blaspheme_v any_o more_o lay_v hold_n of_o this_o gospel_n this_o glad_a tiding_n of_o reconciliation_n and_o be_v move_v thereby_o to_o seek_v how_o you_o may_v best_o honour_v his_o that_o can_v be_v give_v to_o commend_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n especial_o if_o we_o consider_v what_o be_v do_v to_o effect_v this_o to_o discharge_v man_n of_o that_o debt_n whereunto_o he_o stand_v bind_v through_o sin_n unto_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n man_n the_o son_n of_o god_n must_v come_v down_o from_o heaven_n and_o become_v a_o son_n of_o man_n and_o in_o man_n room_n and_o steed_n he_o make_v sin_n offer_v himself_o up_o a_o sacrifice_n to_o satisfy_v god_n justice_n for_o man_n sin_n and_o that_o man_n may_v be_v make_v partaker_n of_o that_o which_o christ_n do_v in_o this_o kind_n son_n of_o man_n must_v be_v unite_v to_o the_o son_n of_o god_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n that_o as_o by_o the_o former_a union_n god_n and_o man_n become_v one_o person_n so_o by_o this_o latter_a union_n the_o son_n of_o man_n and_o the_o son_n of_o god_n may_v make_v one_o body_n 12._o which_o be_v christ_n no_o creature_n but_o man_n do_v partake_v of_o god_n mercy_n in_o this_o kind_n unsensible_a and_o unreasonable_a creature_n be_v not_o subject_a to_o sin_n nor_o yet_o to_o the_o eternal_a punishment_n of_o sin_n because_o they_o have_v no_o immortal_a soul_n the_o good_a angel_n never_o sin_v and_o in_o that_o respect_n have_v no_o need_n to_o taste_v of_o this_o kind_n of_o mercy_n whereupon_o when_o a_o angel_n bring_v the_o news_n of_o christ_n birth_n which_o have_v be_v say_v of_o this_o title_n it_o be_v without_o all_o exception_n clear_a that_o by_o the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v here_o mean_v christ_n jesus_n for_o christ_n never_o attribute_v this_o title_n to_o any_o but_o to_o himself_o beside_o sin_n and_o blasphemy_n which_o be_v here_o say_v to_o be_v commit_v against_o the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v not_o proper_o commit_v against_o a_o mere_a man_n in_o christ_n manner_n of_o set_v forth_o himself_o under_o this_o title_n modesty_n son_n of_o man_n note_v his_o modesty_n and_o his_o humility_n he_o do_v here_o set_v himself_o forth_o as_o god_n that_o have_v power_n to_o forgive_v sin_n a_o great_a and_o excellent_a dignity_n and_o therefore_o speak_v of_o himself_o in_o the_o three_o person_n as_o of_o another_o behold_v his_o modesty_n there_o be_v many_o most_o excellent_a title_n due_a and_o proper_a to_o he_o humility_n which_o other_o attribute_v to_o he_o as_o son_n of_o god_n king_n lord_n jesus_n rabbi_n and_o here_o by_o way_n of_o extenuation_n as_o if_o christ_n more_o large_o have_v thus_o say_v consider_v that_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v please_v to_o take_v upon_o he_o man_n nature_n and_o in_o that_o nature_n to_o appear_v unto_o man_n and_o in_o such_o a_o shape_n to_o appear_v as_o he_o can_v not_o be_v discern_v to_o be_v any_o other_o than_o a_o man_n they_o which_o speak_v against_o he_o and_o blaspheme_v he_o may_v seem_v to_o have_v some_o pretext_n and_o excuse_n because_o they_o know_v he_o not_o to_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o in_o that_o respect_n their_o sin_n may_v be_v forgive_v they_o they_o who_o take_v this_o title_n use_v here_o in_o this_o sense_n illustrate_v their_o meaning_n with_o the_o similitude_n of_o a_o king_n son_n and_o heir_n apparel_v with_o a_o beggar_n tag_v rag_n if_o any_o of_o the_o subject_n meet_v he_o but_o not_o know_v he_o shall_v revile_v he_o and_o otherwise_o abuse_v he_o that_o subject_n shall_v not_o be_v condemn_v of_o high_a treason_n his_o ignorance_n of_o the_o person_n will_v extenuate_v his_o fact_n answ_n though_o that_o similitude_n do_v fit_o illustrate_v the_o pretend_a sense_n and_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n yet_o this_o sense_n be_v not_o pertinent_a to_o the_o present_a place_n and_o purpose_n of_o christ_n the_o main_a scope_n of_o christ_n in_o this_o place_n be_v to_o aggravate_v the_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n dom._n but_o to_o compare_v it_o with_o a_o small_a light_a sin_n be_v no_o aggravation_n wherefore_o i_o rather_o take_v this_o title_n son_n of_o man_n in_o a_o contrary_a sense_n not_o in_o way_n of_o extenuation_n but_o of_o aggravation_n whereunto_o it_o tend_v if_o this_o title_n be_v take_v as_o set_v forth_o on_o the_o one_o side_n the_o low_a degree_n of_o humiliation_n whereunto_o christ_n descend_v for_o our_o sake_n together_o with_o the_o unspeakable_a love_n of_o god_n in_o give_v his_o only_a beget_v son_n to_o be_v a_o son_n of_o man_n and_o
