or_o the_o party_n must_v die_v the_o uneasiness_n be_v not_o to_o be_v consider_v but_o the_o necessity_n and_o in_o such_o a_o case_n the_o mind_n can_v be_v at_o ease_n till_o it_o be_v do_v so_o that_o the_o very_a difficulty_n of_o repentance_n lay_v the_o foundation_n for_o great_a peace_n of_o mind_n afterward_o and_o who_o will_v think_v much_o of_o such_o a_o difficulty_n which_o be_v conduct_n in_o this_o world_n in_o hope_n of_o be_v happy_a with_o he_o in_o another_o this_o be_v the_o love_n of_o god_n above_o all_o thing_n but_o alas_o where_o be_v this_o love_n of_o god_n to_o be_v find_v it_o be_v no_o very_o hard_a matter_n to_o work_v up_o a_o heat_a and_o devout_a imagination_n to_o the_o fancy_n of_o rapture_n and_o ecstasy_n and_o mystical_a union_n 3._o but_o after_o all_o this_o be_v the_o love_n of_o god_n that_o we_o keep_v his_o commandment_n as_o the_o true_a love_n of_o a_o prince_n be_v not_o to_o flatter_v and_o admire_v he_o and_o watch_v for_o his_o smile_n but_o to_o observe_v his_o direction_n and_o obey_v his_o order_n and_o to_o do_v what_o be_v most_o for_o his_o service_n and_o although_o such_o a_o love_n of_o god_n be_v hard_a to_o those_o who_o heart_n be_v full_a of_o carnal_a affection_n and_o be_v take_v up_o with_o the_o folly_n and_o vanity_n of_o this_o world_n yet_o we_o can_v take_v one_o true_a step_n in_o the_o way_n to_o heaven_n without_o the_o love_n of_o god._n for_o even_o those_o who_o have_v most_o corrupt_v the_o doctrine_n of_o repentance_n do_v confess_v that_o there_o can_v be_v no_o true_a contrition_n of_o sin_n which_o be_v not_o found_v on_o the_o love_n of_o god_n as_o the_o principle_n of_o it_o and_o however_o they_o have_v dangerous_o flatter_v and_o deceive_v those_o who_o be_v so_o weak_a to_o believe_v they_o that_o attrition_n with_o the_o sacrament_n of_o penance_n be_v sufficient_a to_o put_v man_n into_o the_o state_n of_o grace_n yet_o st._n peter_n key_n must_v have_v a_o extraordinary_a virtue_n if_o they_o can_v change_v nature_n into_o grace_n or_o fear_v into_o love_n or_o mere_a horror_n of_o conscience_n into_o true_a repentance_n but_o although_o such_o a_o love_n of_o god_n above_o all_o thing_n be_v so_o hard_a a_o thing_n to_o mind_n prepossess_v with_o the_o love_n of_o other_o thing_n yet_o no_o one_o can_v deny_v that_o it_o be_v the_o most_o upon_o their_o ease_n and_o riches_n and_o expectation_n in_o this_o world_n even_o these_o make_v it_o hard_o for_o such_o person_n to_o get_v to_o heaven_n because_o sincerity_n and_o constancy_n be_v the_o necessary_a condition_n of_o it_o which_o may_v be_v try_v much_o more_o in_o some_o than_o it_o be_v in_o other_o we_o must_v all_o have_v the_o same_o journey's-end_n if_o we_o hope_v to_o get_v to_o heaven_n but_o some_o may_v meet_v with_o a_o free_a road_n and_o a_o calm_a season_n and_o better_a company_n in_o their_o journey_n than_o other_o however_o it_o happen_v we_o must_v go_v through_o all_o and_o not_o be_v discourage_v at_o any_o appearance_n of_o difficulty_n upon_o our_o way_n but_o herein_o mankind_n be_v apt_a to_o be_v deceive_v as_o though_o all_o the_o difficulty_n lay_v in_o a_o suffer_a condition_n whereas_o a_o soft_a and_o careless_a and_o voluptuous_a life_n be_v rather_o more_o dangerous_a to_o their_o soul_n because_o person_n be_v less_o apt_a to_o suspect_v their_o danger_n he_o that_o be_v set_v upon_o by_o force_n and_o violence_n endeavour_n to_o defend_v himself_o as_o well_o as_o he_o can_v but_o he_o that_o be_v betray_v judgement_n prefer_v the_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n before_o all_o the_o most_o allure_a pleasure_n of_o this_o life_n so_o that_o the_o different_a circumstance_n of_o life_n do_v make_v the_o way_n of_o salvation_n more_o difficult_a to_o some_o than_o to_o other_o but_o this_o be_v not_o all_o for_o there_o be_v many_o thing_n which_o make_v it_o more_o difficult_a to_o some_o than_o to_o other_o which_o be_v of_o another_o nature_n some_o temper_n be_v more_o flexible_a and_o pliable_a than_o other_o more_o capable_a of_o harken_v to_o reason_n and_o more_o apt_a to_o reflect_v on_o their_o own_o action_n whereas_o other_o be_v natural_o stiff_a and_o obstinate_a who_o stick_v as_o fast_o to_o a_o opinion_n or_o prejudice_n which_o they_o have_v once_o take_v up_o as_o if_o lament_v the_o state_n of_o humane_a nature_n after_o all_o the_o pain_n and_o endeavour_n they_o have_v use_v to_o rectify_v their_o opinion_n and_o to_o subdue_v their_o passion_n for_o they_o find_v it_o too_o restiff_n and_o untractable_a too_o much_o under_o the_o sway_n and_o dominion_n of_o the_o sensitive_a appetite_n for_o they_o ever_o to_o hope_v by_o the_o mere_a power_n of_o reason_n to_o bring_v it_o into_o such_o subjection_n as_o to_o pretend_v to_o a_o total_a conquest_n and_o those_o who_o refine_a pleasure_n so_o much_o as_o to_o make_v it_o a_o happiness_n fit_a but_o like_o the_o gourd_n which_o after_o its_o pare_n and_o cleanse_v and_o dress_v be_v fit_a only_a to_o be_v cast_v upon_o the_o dunghill_n but_o it_o can_v be_v say_v that_o the_o happiness_n offer_v to_o christian_n be_v of_o such_o a_o nature_n for_o it_o be_v real_o the_o best_a the_o most_o valuable_a and_o desirable_a good_a not_o promise_v to_o be_v enjoy_v in_o this_o mean_a religious_a duty_n determine_v as_o to_o the_o circumstance_n of_o they_o be_v like_o man_n who_o will_v have_v punctual_a rule_n set_v down_o how_o often_o two_o friend_n shall_v converse_v with_o each_o other_o and_o how_o long_a time_n they_o be_v to_o stay_v together_o true_a friendship_n will_v need_v none_o of_o those_o thing_n but_o will_v incline_v they_o to_o embrace_v the_o best_a
