the_o blood_n of_o a_o saint_n cry_v so_o what_o must_v the_o blood_n of_o the_o king_n of_o saint_n as_o christ_n be_v call_v revel_v 15._o then_o do_v if_o the_o blood_n of_o one_o member_n of_o up_o for_o any_o yea_o he_o carry_v their_o name_n write_v in_o his_o heart_n as_o the_o highpriest_n do_v the_o name_n of_o the_o ten_o tribe_n on_o his_o breast_n when_o he_o enter_v into_o the_o holy_a of_o holies_n he_o sit_v in_o heaven_n to_o see_v to_o it_o that_o none_o other_o shall_v take_v their_o room_n over_o their_o head_n as_o we_o say_v and_o therefore_o 1._o pet._n 1._o 4._o the_o bride_n from_o earth_n say_v unto_o christ_n come_v to_o i_o and_o the_o spirit_n in_o the_o saint_n heart_n below_o say_v come_v unto_o he_o also_o and_o christ_n cry_v out_o as_o loud_a from_o heaven_n come_v in_o answer_n unto_o this_o desire_n in_o they_o so_o that_o heaven_n and_o earth_n ring_v again_o of_o it_o let_v he_o that_o be_v athirst_a come_v to_o i_o and_o let_v he_o that_o make_v they_o the_o more_o remarkable_a to_o show_v his_o heart_n in_o utter_v they_o this_o book_n be_v intend_v mere_o as_o a_o prophecy_n of_o the_o time_n of_o the_o gospel_n until_o his_o come_n unto_o which_o period_n of_o it_o when_o john_n have_v bring_v that_o prophetic_a story_n he_o bring_v in_o the_o bride_n long_v for_o that_o come_n of_o christ_n the_o bride_n say_v come_v and_o no_o soon_o say_v she_o so_o but_o christ_n by_o way_n of_o retortion_n do_v likewise_o say_v come_v unto_o she_o also_o yea_o it_o put_v the_o more_o observation_n upon_o it_o that_o he_o have_v utter_v the_o same_o word_n before_o revel_v 21._o 6._o but_o notwithstanding_o he_o will_v repeat_v they_o again_o and_o have_v they_o to_o be_v his_o last_o word_n all_o which_o show_v how_o much_o his_o heart_n be_v in_o this_o part_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o invite_v sinner_n to_o he_o that_o now_o when_o he_o be_v to_o speak_v but_o one_o sentence_n more_o till_o we_o hear_v the_o sound_n to_o conclusion_n and_o shut_v up_o of_o many_o day_n preach_v thus_o john_n 7._o 37._o in_o the_o last_o day_n that_o great_a day_n of_o the_o feast_n jesus_n stand_v and_o cry_v if_o any_o man_n thirst_n frame_n and_o working_n of_o it_o towards_o sinner_n and_o that_o so_o sensible_o that_o it_o do_v as_o it_o be_v take_v our_o hand_n and_o lay_v they_o upon_o christ_n breast_n and_o let_v we_o feel_v how_o his_o heart_n
beat_v and_o his_o bowel_n yearn_v towards_o we_o even_o now_o he_o be_v in_o glory_n the_o very_a scope_n of_o these_o word_n be_v manifest_o to_o encourage_v believer_n against_o all_o that_o may_v discourage_v they_o from_o the_o consideration_n of_o christ_n heart_n towards_o they_o now_o in_o heaven_n to_o open_v they_o so_o far_o as_o they_o serve_v to_o my_o present_a purpose_n first_o all_o that_o may_v any_o way_n discourage_v we_o he_o here_o call_v by_o the_o name_n of_o infirmity_n thereby_o mean_v both_o 1._o the_o evil_a of_o affliction_n of_o what_o sort_n soever_o persecution_n etc._n etc._n from_o without_o 2._o the_o evil_a of_o sin_n which_o do_v most_o of_o all_o discourage_v we_o from_o within_o and_o that_o both_o these_o be_v menat_n 1._o that_o under_o infirmity_n he_o mean_n persecution_n and_o affliction_n be_v manifest_a not_o only_o in_o that_o the_o word_n be_v often_o use_v in_o that_o sense_n as_o 2_o cor._n 11._o 30._o and_o chap._n 12._o 5._o but_o also_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o the_o phrase_n be_v here_o so_o intend_v for_o his_o scope_n be_v to_o comfort_v they_o against_o what_o will_v pull_v from_o they_o their_o profession_n as_o that_o foregoing_a exhortation_n let_v us_o hold_v fast_o our_o profession_n imply_v now_o that_o which_o attempt_v to_o pull_v it_o from_o they_o be_v their_o persecution_n and_o opposition_n from_o without_o it_o appear_v also_o because_o his_o argument_n here_o of_o comfort_v they_o against_o these_o infirmity_n be_v draw_v from_o christ_n example_n in_o that_o he_o be_v in_o all_o thing_n tempt_v as_o we_o be_v yet_o second_o by_o infirmity_n be_v mean_v sin_n also_o for_o so_o in_o the_o process_n of_o this_o discourse_n he_o use_v the_o phrase_n and_o make_v they_o the_o main_a object_n of_o our_o highpriest_n pity_v for_o in_o the_o next_o word_n chap._n 5._o 2._o show_v what_o the_o qualification_n of_o the_o highpriest_n under_o the_o law_n be_v who_o be_v type_n of_o our_o great_a highpriest_n he_o make_v this_o one_o suitable_a to_o this_o here_o mention_v that_o he_o be_v to_o be_v one_o that_o can_v have_v compassion_n on_o the_o ignorant_a and_o those_o that_o be_v out_o of_o the_o way_n that_o be_v upon_o sinner_n for_o sin_n be_v those_o ignorances_n and_o go_n astray_o from_o god_n and_o then_o add_v in_o that_o himself_o be_v clothe_v with_o infirmity_n that_o be_v with_o sin_n and_o although_o it_o be_v say_v here_o that_o christ_n be_v without_o sin_n in_o all_o yet_o he_o be_v tempt_v by_o satan_n unto_o all_o sort_n of_o sin_n even_o as_o we_o be_v and_o that_o by_o infirmity_n sin_n be_v main_o here_o intend_v be_v yet_o more_o evident_a from_o the_o remedy_n propound_v against_o they_o which_o they_o be_v here_o encourage_v to_o seek_v for_o at_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n namely_o grace_n and_o mercy_n therefore_o let_v we_o come_v bold_o to_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n that_o we_o may_v find_v grace_v and_o mercy_n to_o help_v in_o time_n of_o need_n so_o it_o follow_v in_o the_o next_o word_n grace_n to_o help_v against_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n and_o mercy_n against_o the_o guilt_n and_o punishment_n of_o it_o both_o which_o be_v the_o great_a discourager_n to_o come_v bold_o to_o that_o throne_n and_o therefore_o he_o must_v needs_o intend_v those_o kind_n of_o infirmity_n chief_o in_o this_o his_o encouragement_n and_o comfortory_n give_v now_o second_o for_o a_o support_n against_o both_o these_o he_o let_v we_o understand_v how_o feel_o and_o sensible_o affect_v the_o heart_n of_o christ_n be_v to_o sinner_n under_o all_o these_o their_o infirmity_n now_o he_o be_v in_o heaven_n for_o of_o he_o advance_v into_o heaven_n he_o here_o speak_v as_o appear_v by_o ver_fw-la 14._o and_o if_o the_o coherence_n with_o that_o verse_n be_v observe_v we_o shall_v see_v that_o he_o bring_v in_o this_o narration_n of_o it_o set_o by_o way_n of_o prevent_v a_o objection_n which_o may_v otherwise_o arise_v in_o all_o man_n thought_n from_o that_o high_a and_o glorious_a description_n which_o he_o have_v give_v of_o he_o in_o that_o 14._o ver_fw-la we_o have_v a_o great_a highpriest_n pass_v into_o the_o heaven_n and_o so_o have_v cast_v off_o the_o frailty_n of_o his_o flesh_n which_o he_o have_v here_o and_o have_v clothe_v his_o humane_a nature_n with_o so_o great_a a_o glory_n that_o therefore_o he_o can_v now_o pity_v we_o as_o he_o do_v when_o he_o dwell_v among_o we_o here_o below_o nor_o be_v so_o feel_o affect_v and_o touch_v with_o our_o misery_n as_o to_o be_v tender_o move_v to_o compassionate_a and_o commiserate_v we_o so_o he_o be_v not_o now_o capable_a of_o a_o feel_n of_o grief_n and_o so_o not_o of_o a_o fellow-feeling_n or_o sympathize_v with_o we_o to_o handle_v first_o more_o general_o that_o christ_n heart_n now_o in_o heaven_n be_v as_o gracious_o affect_v unto_o sinner_n as_o ever_o it_o be_v on_o earth_n and_o second_o more_o particular_o the_o manner_n how_o or_o thus_o 1._o that_o he_o be_v touch_v with_o a_o feel_n or_o sympathize_v with_o we_o as_o the_o word_n be_v 2._o the_o way_n how_o this_o come_v to_o pass_v even_o through_o we_o in_o all_o our_o evil_n and_o this_o word_n also_o here_o use_v import_v a_o suffering_n but_o then_o some_o great_o distress_a soul_n may_v question_v thus_o though_o he_o pity_v i_o and_o be_v undertake_v by_o he_o for_o we_o there_o be_v the_o addition_n of_o a_o mighty_a interest_n of_o his_o own_o coincident_a therewith_o to_o fix_v his_o heart_n unto_o faithfulness_n for_o we_o in_o all_o that_o do_v concern_v we_o we_o see_v that_o advocate_n and_o attorney_n who_o plead_v for_o other_o although_o that_o they_o have_v no_o share_n in_o the_o estate_n for_o which_o they_o plead_v second_o person_n for_o ever_o be_v that_o he_o may_v be_v a_o merciful_a highpriest_n so_o that_o as_o his_o office_n lay_v it_o as_o a_o duty_n upon_o he_o so_o his_o become_v a_o man_n qualify_v he_o for_o that_o office_n and_o the_o performance_n of_o it_o and_o so_o may_v afford_v a_o far_a demonstration_n of_o the_o point_n in_o hand_n this_o we_o find_v both_o to_o have_v be_v a_o requisite_a in_o our_o highpriest_n to_o qualify_v he_o the_o better_a for_o mercy_n and_o bowel_n and_o also_o one_o of_o those_o great_a end_n which_o god_n have_v in_o that_o assumption_n of_o our_o nature_n first_o a_o requisite_a on_o purpose_n to_o make_v he_o the_o more_o merciful_a so_o heb._n 5._o 1._o the_o place_n even_o
now_o insist_v on_o when_o yet_o this_o primary_n qualification_n i_o then_o pass_v over_o and_o reserve_v unto_o this_o mention_n it_o be_v say_v every_o highpriest_n take_v from_o among_o man_n be_v ordain_v for_o man_n and_o that_o to_o this_o end_n that_o so_o he_o may_v be_v one_o that_o can_v have_v compassion_n namely_o with_o a_o pity_n that_o be_v natural_a and_o kind_o such_o as_o a_o man_n bear_v to_o one_o of_o his_o own_o kind_n for_o otherwise_o the_o angel_n will_v have_v make_v high_a and_o great_a high-priest_n than_o one_o of_o our_o nature_n but_o then_o they_o will_v but_o the_o seed_n of_o abraham_n that_o be_v a_o humane_a nature_n and_o that_o make_v too_o of_o the_o same_o stuff_n that_o we_o be_v of_o and_o it_o behoove_v he_o to_o be_v make_v like_o we_o in_o all_o thing_n that_o he_o may_v be_v a_o merciful_a highpriest_n etc._n etc._n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v become_v or_o be_v make_v merciful_a but_o be_v not_o the_o son_n of_o god_n as_o merciful_a may_n some_o say_v without_o the_o take_n of_o our_o nature_n as_o afterward_o when_o he_o have_v assume_v it_o or_o be_v his_o mercy_n thereby_o make_v large_a than_o of_o itself_o it_o shall_v have_v be_v have_v he_o not_o take_v the_o humane_a nature_n on_o he_o i_o answer_v yes_o he_o be_v as_o merciful_a but_o yet_o 1._o hereby_o be_v hold_v forth_o a_o evident_a demonstration_n and_o the_o great_a one_o that_o can_v have_v be_v give_v unto_o man_n of_o the_o everlasting_a continuance_n of_o god_n mercy_n unto_o man_n by_o this_o that_o god_n be_v for_o everlasting_a become_v a_o man_n and_o so_o we_o thereby_o assure_v that_o he_o will_v be_v merciful_a unto_o man_n who_o be_v of_o his_o own_o nature_n and_o that_o for_o ever_o for_o as_o can_v and_o will_v no_o more_o cease_v to_o be_v merciful_a to_o man_n than_o himself_o can_v now_o cease_v to_o be_v a_o man_n which_o can_v never_o be_v and_o this_o be_v the_o end_n of_o that_o assumption_n but_o second_o that_o be_v not_o all_o his_o take_v our_o nature_n not_o only_o add_v unto_o our_o faith_n but_o some_o way_n or_o other_o even_o to_o his_o be_v merciful_a therefore_o as_o a_o man_n so_o that_o this_o union_n of_o both_o nature_n god_n and_o man_n be_v project_v by_o god_n to_o make_v up_o the_o rare_a compound_n of_o grace_n and_o mercy_n in_o the_o result_n of_o it_o that_o ever_o can_v have_v be_v and_o thereby_o full_o fit_v and_o accommodate_v to_o the_o heal_n and_o save_v of_o our_o soul_n the_o greatness_n of_o that_o mercy_n that_o be_v in_o god_n that_o contribute_v the_o stock_n and_o treasury_n of_o those_o mercy_n to_o be_v bestow_v on_o we_o and_o unto_o the_o greatness_n of_o these_o mercy_n nothing_o be_v or_o can_v be_v add_v by_o the_o humane_a nature_n assume_v but_o rather_o christ_n manhood_n have_v all_o his_o largeness_n of_o mercy_n from_o the_o deity_n so_o that_o have_v he_o not_o have_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n to_o enlarge_v his_o heart_n towards_o we_o he_o can_v never_o have_v hold_v out_o to_o have_v for_o ever_o be_v merciful_a unto_o we_o but_o then_o this_o humane_a nature_n assume_v that_o add_v a_o new_a way_n of_o be_v merciful_a it_o assimilate_v all_o these_o mercy_n and_o make_v they_o the_o mercy_n of_o a_o man_n it_o make_v they_o humane_a mercy_n and_o so_o give_v a_o naturalnesse_n and_o kindlinesse_n unto_o they_o to_o our_o capacity_n so_o that_o god_n do_v now_o in_o as_o kind_o and_o as_o natural_a a_o way_n pity_v we_o who_o be_v flesh_n of_o his_o flesh_n and_o bone_n of_o his_o bone_n as_o a_o man_n pity_v a_o man_n thereby_o to_o encourage_v we_o to_o come_v to_o he_o and_o to_o be_v familiar_a with_o god_n and_o treat_v with_o he_o for_o grace_n and_o mercy_n as_o a_o man_n will_v do_v with_o a_o man_n as_o know_v that_o in_o that_o man_n christ_n jesus_n who_o we_o believe_v upon_o god_n dwell_v and_o his_o mercy_n work_v in_o and_o through_o his_o heart_n in_o a_o humane_a way_n i_o will_v no_o long_o insist_v upon_o this_o notion_n now_o because_o i_o shall_v have_v occasion_n to_o touch_v upon_o it_o again_o and_o add_v unto_o it_o under_o that_o next_o three_o general_a head_n of_o show_v the_o way_n how_o christ_n heart_n be_v affect_v towards_o sinner_n only_o take_v we_o notice_n what_o comfort_n this_o may_v afford_v unto_o our_o faith_n that_o have_v once_o assume_v it_o be_v raise_v up_o to_o all_o the_o natural_a right_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n whereof_o one_o and_o that_o now_o make_v natural_a unto_o he_o be_v to_o continue_v for_o ever_o unite_v and_o he_o may_v as_o soon_o cease_v to_o be_v either_o as_o to_o be_v ready_a to_o show_v mercy_n so_o that_o not_o only_o the_o scope_n of_o christ_n office_n but_o also_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o infirmity_n together_o with_o the_o way_n how_o our_o infirmity_n come_v to_o be_v feel_o let_v into_o his_o heart_n have_v thus_o give_v such_o full_a and_o ample_a demonstration_n of_o the_o tenderness_n &_o sameness_n of_o christ_n heart_n unto_o we_o now_o he_o be_v in_o heaven_n with_o that_o which_o it_o be_v whilst_o he_o be_v here_o on_o earth_n and_o those_o both_o extrinsecall_v in_o the_o first_o part_n and_o intrinsical_v in_o the_o second_o i_o now_o come_v to_o that_o last_o head_n which_o i_o propound_v in_o the_o open_n of_o these_o word_n namely_o the_o way_n and_o manner_n of_o christ_n be_v affect_v with_o pity_n unto_o we_o both_o how_o it_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v by_o we_o and_o also_o how_o such_o affection_n come_v to_o be_v let_v into_o his_o heart_n and_o therein_o to_o work_v these_o bowel_n of_o compassion_n unto_o we_o this_o in_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o second_o part_n i_o propound_v to_o be_v handle_v as_o be_v necessary_a both_o for_o the_o open_n and_o clear_v the_o word_n of_o the_o text_n which_o main_o hold_v forth_o this_o as_o also_o for_o the_o clear_n of_o the_o thing_n itself_o the_o point_n in_o hand_n for_o as_o i_o there_o show_v these_o word_n come_v in_o by_o way_n of_o pre-occupation_n or_o prevention_n of_o a_o objection_n a_o sif_z his_o state_n now_o in_o heaven_n be_v not_o capable_a of_o such_o affection_n as_o shall_v tender_o move_v he_o to_o pity_n &_o commiseration_n he_o be_v now_o glorify_v both_o in_o soul_n and_o body_n which_o think_v because_o it_o be_v apt_a to_o arise_v in_o humane_a nature_n though_o glorify_v affection_n of_o pity_n and_o compassion_n be_v true_a and_o real_a and_o not_o metaphorical_o attribute_v to_o he_o as_o they_o be_v unto_o god_n and_o also_o more_o near_o and_o like_a unto_o we_o here_o then_o those_o in_o the_o angel_n be_v even_o affection_n proper_a to_o man_n nature_n and_o true_o humane_a and_o these_o he_o shall_v have_v have_v although_o this_o humane_a nature_n have_v from_o the_o very_a first_o assumption_n of_o it_o be_v as_o glorious_a as_o it_o be_v now_o in_o heaven_n but_o now_o three_o add_v this_o further_o that_o god_n so_o order_v it_o that_o before_o christ_n shall_v clothe_v this_o his_o humane_a nature_n with_o that_o glory_n he_o have_v in_o heaven_n and_o put_v this_o glory_n upon_o it_o he_o shall_v as_o we_o namely_o his_o member_n be_v partaker_n of_o flesh_n and_o blood_n which_o phrase_n do_v ever_o note_v out_o the_o frailty_n of_o man_n nature_n as_o 1_o cor._n 15._o 50._o etc._n etc._n he_o himself_o take_v part_n of_o the_o same_o that_o he_o may_v be_v a_o merciful_a highpriest_n etc._n etc._n ver_fw-la 17._o and_o then_o the_o apostle_n give_v this_o reason_n of_o it_o ver_fw-la 18._o for_o in_o that_o himself_o have_v suffer_v be_v tempt_v he_o be_v able_a this_o ability_n be_v as_o be_v before_o interpret_v the_o have_v a_o heart_n fit_v and_o enable_v out_o of_o thereby_o will_v have_v make_v he_o true_o and_o real_o affectionate_a towards_o we_o with_o affection_n humane_a and_o proper_a to_o a_o man_n and_o so_o much_o near_o and_o like_a we_o then_o what_o be_v in_o the_o angel_n themselves_o or_o then_o be_v attribute_v to_o god_n when_o he_o be_v say_v to_o pity_v we_o but_o further_a his_o take_v our_o nature_n at_o first_o clothe_v with_o frailty_n and_o live_v in_o this_o world_n as_o we_o this_o have_v for_o ever_o fit_v his_o heart_n by_o experience_n to_o be_v in_o our_o very_a heart_n and_o bosom_n and_o not_o only_o or_o bare_o to_o know_v the_o distress_n and_o as_o a_o man_n to_o be_v affect_v with_o a_o humane_a affection_n to_o one_o of_o his_o kind_n but_o experimental_o remember_v the_o like_a in_o himself_o once_o and_o this_o likewise_o the_o text_n suggest_v as_o the_o way_n whereby_o our_o distress_n be_v let_v into_o his_o heart_n the_o more_o feel_o now_o he_o be_v in_o heaven_n we_o have_v not_o a_o highpriest_n that_o can_v be_v touch_v with_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o infirmity_n but_o be_v in_o all_o point_n tempt_v like_a as_o we_o be_v yet_o without_o sin_n and_o the_o more_o to_o comfort_v we_o herein_o observe_v how_o full_o and_o universal_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o christ_n have_v be_v tempt_v here_o below_o first_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o they_o or_o the_o several_a sort_n of_o temptation_n
