but_o it_o be_v of_o god_n who_o show_v mercy_n to_o who_o he_o please_v and_o justifi_v who_o he_o will_n 17._o for_o the_o scripture_n say_v unto_o pharaoh_n even_o for_o this_o same_o purpose_n jacob_n according_a to_o the_o flesh_n and_o seek_v justification_n by_o work_n for_o whereas_o god_n may_v have_v just_o deal_v with_o other_o as_o he_o do_v with_o pharaoh_n and_o have_v destroy_v they_o with_o as_o great_a a_o destruction_n as_o he_o do_v he_o yet_o he_o do_v not_o so_o but_o say_v of_o pharaoh_n exod._n 9_o 16._o even_o for_o this_o same_o purpose_n have_v i_o harden_v thy_o heart_n and_o so_o stir_v and_o raise_v thou_o up_o against_o my_o people_n that_o i_o may_v show_v my_o power_n in_o thou_o and_o that_o my_o name_n may_v be_v declare_v throughout_o all_o the_o he_o do_v not_o so_o deal_v though_o they_o have_v deserve_v it_o at_o god_n hand_n as_o well_o as_o pharaoh_n have_v ver._n 18._o therefore_o have_v he_o mercy_n on_o who_o he_o will_v have_v mercy_n and_o who_o he_o will_v he_o harden_v i._n e._n therefore_o have_v he_o just_o without_o any_o the_o least_o unrighteousness_n at_o all_o mercy_n on_o those_o on_o who_o he_o will_v have_v mercy_n and_o again_o on_o who_o he_o will_v not_o have_v that_o mercy_n he_o just_o do_v deny_v it_o to_o they_o and_o without_o the_o least_o unrighteousness_n harden_v they_o these_o word_n just_o or_o without_o unrighteousness_n be_v here_o to_o be_v understand_v that_o the_o conclusion_n may_v come_v up_o to_o answer_v the_o objection_n make_v or_o couch_v in_o the_o fourteen_o verse_n and_o this_o conclusion_n thus_o understand_v be_v no_o more_o than_o the_o premise_n will_v bear_v for_o nature_n itself_o will_v tell_v you_o that_o what_o god_n do_v he_o do_v just_o and_o you_o can_v conceive_v god_n but_o you_o must_v conceive_v he_o to_o be_v just_a for_o he_o that_o be_v unjust_a can_v be_v god_n therefore_o he_o have_v mercy_n on_o who_o he_o will_v have_v mercy_n this_o flesh_n and_o notwithstanding_o that_o that_o they_o seek_v justification_n by_o work_n and_o who_o heart_n he_o harden_v even_o because_o he_o will_v not_o pardon_v they_o for_o their_o sin_n and_o because_o he_o will_v harden_v they_o who_o god_n will_v he_o just_o harden_v and_o if_o he_o just_o harden_v who_o he_o will_v he_o may_v deny_v remission_n of_o sin_n to_o the_o child_n of_o unrighteousness_n in_o himself_o at_o all_o for_o do_v so_o he_o harden_v this_n be_v oppose_v to_o the_o mercy_n which_o he_o speak_v of_o in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n which_o mercy_n consist_v in_o remission_n of_o sin_n and_o justification_n and_o therefore_o be_v it_o oppose_v to_o that_o because_o where_o god_n do_v not_o remit_v the_o sin_n of_o unbeliever_n and_o justify_v they_o i_o speak_v especial_o in_o the_o case_n of_o positive_a unbelief_n as_o i_o may_v so_o call_v it_o that_o be_v where_o man_n have_v the_o gospel_n or_o word_n of_o god_n preach_v to_o they_o and_o they_o will_v not_o believe_v it_o but_o put_v it_o from_o they_o which_o be_v that_o which_o the_o apostle_n chief_o speak_v of_o and_o against_o in_o this_o epistle_n he_o do_v not_o only_o not_o remit_v their_o sin_n but_o do_v also_o harden_v their_o heart_n for_o a_o kind_n of_o punishment_n of_o their_o unbelief_n see_v for_o this_o matth._n 13._o verse_n 11_o 12_o 13_o 14_o 15._o but_o note_n that_o though_o god_n harden_v the_o heart_n of_o unbeliever_n he_o do_v it_o not_o by_o any_o positive_a operation_n upon_o their_o soul_n or_o heart_n so_o as_o to_o be_v and_o by_o permit_v satan_n to_o nourish_v and_o foster_v that_o hardness_n which_o satan_n may_v do_v many_o way_n and_o by_o suggest_v divers_a argument_n to_o they_o and_o by_o stir_v up_o evil_a lust_n and_o affection_n in_o they_o etc._n etc._n he_o do_v it_o sometime_o also_o in_o that_o he_o punish_v not_o offender_n according_a to_o their_o offence_n so_o soon_o as_o they_o offend_v but_o patient_o bear_v with_o they_o a_o while_n ver._n 19_o thou_o will_v say_v then_o unto_o i_o why_o do_v he_o yet_o find_v fault_n the_o apostle_n make_v a_o objection_n here_o in_o the_o person_n of_o a_o unbelieving_a jew_n by_o occasion_n of_o that_o which_o he_o say_v v._o 18_o viz._n who_o he_o will_v he_o harden_v for_o as_o though_o the_o apostle_n have_v say_v that_o god_n do_v positive_o 11_o 12._o psal_n 95.8_o act_n 28._o ver_fw-la 25_o 26_o etc._n etc._n for_o who_o have_v resist_v his_o will_n q._n d._n for_o if_o he_o will_v harden_v we_o who_o can_v help_v it_o for_o who_o be_v able_a to_o resist_v his_o will_n or_o to_o hinder_v he_o in_o what_o he_o will_v have_v do_v ver._n 20._o nay_o but_o o_o man_n who_o be_v thou_o that_o reply_v against_o god_n q._n d._n nay_o but_o o_o man_n why_o answer_v thou_o again_o or_o why_o dispute_a thou_o thus_o against_o god_n this_o particle_n nay_o do_v enliven_v or_o quicken_v the_o whole_a speech_n and_o reprehend_v the_o objector_n the_o apostle_n may_v have_v take_v away_o this_o objection_n by_o say_v that_o god_n do_v not_o positive_o harden_v any_o man_n but_o only_o privative_o by_o not_o punish_v he_o so_o soon_o as_o he_o offend_v according_a to_o his_o desert_n but_o patient_o suffer_v his_o sin_n by_o withhold_v his_o grace_n or_o withhold_v those_o mean_n which_o he_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o give_v and_o that_o he_o do_v not_o this_o neither_o until_o man_n have_v deserve_v it_o etc._n etc._n and_o so_o have_v stop_v the_o objector_n mouth_n but_o he_o have_v rather_o instead_o of_o give_v a_o direct_a answer_n take_v up_o the_o objector_n for_o his_o sauciness_n in_o that_o he_o will_v be_v so_o saucy_a as_o to_o chap_v logic_n with_o his_o god_n whereas_o when_o we_o know_v that_o god_n have_v do_v any_o thing_n though_o we_o know_v not_o his_o particular_a reason_n and_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o work_n we_o shall_v with_o david_n become_v dumb_a and_o open_v not_o our_o mouth_n because_o it_o be_v his_o do_v psal_n 39.9_o know_v that_o god_n be_v not_o unjust_a in_o any_o of_o his_o work_n shall_v the_o thing_n form_v say_v to_o he_o that_o form_v it_o why_o have_v thou_o make_v i_o thus_o q._n d._n if_o a_o potter_n shall_v make_v a_o pot_n of_o a_o ugly_a fashion_n for_o abase_v use_n if_o this_o pot_n have_v sense_n and_o reason_n and_o be_v able_a to_o speak_v believe_v in_o christ_n and_o to_o comfort_v those_o which_o do_v believe_v it_o may_v be_v object_v that_o these_o word_n be_v otherwise_o expound_v here_o of_o christ_n in_o the_o mystical_a than_o they_o be_v of_o hezekiah_n in_o the_o literal_a sense_n and_o not_o according_a to_o the_o same_o similitude_n for_o though_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o literal_a sense_n that_o whosoever_o believe_v etc._n etc._n yet_o it_o be_v not_o mean_v whosoever_o believe_v on_o hezekiah_n though_o he_o be_v a_o type_n of_o christ_n but_o in_o the_o mystical_a sense_n it_o be_v here_o expound_v of_o christ_n whosoever_o believe_v in_o christ_n therefore_o one_o of_o the_o exposition_n may_v seem_v faulty_a and_o not_o agreeable_a to_o the_o prophet_n meaning_n but_o for_o answer_v to_o this_o i_o say_v that_o when_o one_o place_n carry_v two_o several_a sense_n with_o it_o one_o literal_a the_o other_o mystical_a the_o word_n may_v yea_o must_v be_v often_o time_n otherwise_o construe_v and_o interpret_v in_o the_o mystical_a sense_n than_o they_o be_v or_o be_v in_o the_o literal_a which_o i_o have_v observe_v and_o treat_v of_o else_o where_o wherefore_o that_o which_o be_v object_v be_v no_o sound_a argument_n against_o the_o exposition_n give_v chap._n x._o 1._o brethren_n my_o heart_n desire_v and_o prayer_n to_o god_n for_o israel_n be_v that_o they_o may_v be_v save_v 1._o and_o so_o high_a as_o that_o it_o do_v set_v a_o man_n on_o work_n to_o do_v those_o thing_n which_o god_n by_o his_o new_a covenant_n with_o he_o require_v of_o he_o as_o the_o case_n require_v and_o as_o opportunity_n serve_v so_o that_o he_o must_v be_v ready_a at_o all_o time_n in_o the_o preparation_n of_o his_o heart_n to_o confess_v with_o his_o mouth_n the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o not_o only_o that_o but_o to_o do_v every_o good_a work_n also_o and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o the_o apostle_n intimate_v here_o willing_a that_o we_o shall_v know_v that_o justify_v faith_n be_v not_o a_o dead_a barren_a or_o fruitless_a faith_n but_o a_o operative_a faith_n which_o will_v bring_v forth_o good_a work_n as_o opportunity_n offer_v itself_o wherefore_o by_o that_o which_o he_o say_v of_o confession_n with_o the_o mouth_n understand_v all_o good_a work_n beside_o as_o well_o as_o that_o but_o he_o seem_v to_o make_v mention_n of_o this_o only_a not_o to_o exclude_v other_o good_a
