examination_n of_o his_o own_o heart_n and_o will_n search_v his_o illumination_n faith_n and_o obedience_n he_o may_v know_v it_o infallible_o let_v we_o therefore_o hereby_o try_v and_o examine_v ourselves_o and_o not_o presume_v that_o we_o belong_v unto_o god_n when_o indeed_o there_o be_v no_o such_o matter_n and_o never_o find_v this_o alteration_n and_o change_n wrought_v in_o our_o day_n sabbath-breaker_n the_o last_o sabbath_n and_o sabbath-breaker_n still_o and_o only_o live_v as_o they_o be_v lead_v by_o the_o light_n of_o reason_n and_o the_o state_n of_o nature_n to_o live_v a_o civil_a honest_a orderly_a life_n and_o for_o man_n or_o woman_n upon_o this_o ground_n to_o persuade_v themselves_o that_o they_o thus_o belong_v unto_o god_n election_n they_o deceive_v themselves_o for_o there_o must_v be_v a_o further_o change_v wrought_v it_o be_v not_o thy_o civil_a honesty_n that_o will_v serve_v turn_n thou_o must_v have_v thy_o old_a rot_a and_o corrupt_a heart_n take_v out_o of_o thou_o oh_o what_o strive_a will_n there_o be_v before_o that_o this_o be_v do_v but_o this_o thou_o must_v find_v even_o a_o alteration_n and_o a_o change_n that_o thou_o the_o thirteen_o verse_n verse_n 13._o as_o it_o be_v write_v jacob_n have_v i_o love_v but_o esau_n have_v i_o hate_v our_o apostle_n in_o this_o verse_n make_v know_v whence_o it_o be_v that_o put_v it_o down_o in_o the_o general_a whence_o i_o may_v stand_v to_o show_v that_o we_o ought_v be_v so_o well_o acquaint_v with_o scripture_n that_o when_o the_o text_n of_o scripture_n
oh_o take_v heed_n thou_o use_v not_o thy_o wealth_n as_o they_o do_v but_o the_o more_o bountiful_a the_o lord_n be_v in_o pour_v his_o blessing_n upon_o thou_o the_o more_o humble_a thou_o be_v the_o more_o holy_a thou_o be_v the_o more_o thy_o heart_n be_v enlarge_v with_o righteousness_n and_o in_o walk_v before_o god_n and_o in_o all_o thankfulness_n yea_o thereby_o thou_o be_v make_v they_o be_v hate_v of_o god_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o the_o scripture_n do_v note_n out_o this_o unto_o we_o answ_n that_o they_o be_v by_o nature_n child_n of_o wrath_n as_o well_o as_o other_o and_o we_o be_v to_o believe_v it_o to_o be_v a_o truth_n that_o god_n choose_v before_o their_o effectual_a call_n and_o conversion_n be_v enemy_n to_o god_n and_o god_n be_v a_o enemy_n unto_o they_o before_o their_o effectual_a call_n and_o conversion_n in_o respect_n of_o sin_n and_o because_o of_o sin_n which_o be_v opposite_a and_o contrary_a to_o good_a and_o to_o god_n himself_o which_o be_v good_a yet_o even_o than_o god_n choose_v be_v belove_v of_o god_n in_o regard_n of_o election_n and_o even_o then_o god_n love_v his_o elect_a before_o their_o effectual_a call_n as_o truth_n of_o god_n now_o deliver_v that_o no_o time_n can_v be_v give_v wherein_o god_n love_v not_o his_o choose_a this_o be_v so_o that_o no_o time_n can_v be_v give_v wherein_o god_n love_v not_o his_o choose_a use_v 2_o sure_o then_o upon_o this_o ground_n we_o may_v conclude_v to_o our_o comfort_n we_o be_v such_o that_o belong_v to_o god_n election_n that_o god_n love_n shall_v be_v continue_v unto_o we_o for_o ever_o as_o god_n love_n unto_o we_o unto_o life_n and_o salvation_n have_v no_o beginning_n but_o be_v eternal_a so_o also_o it_o shall_v be_v without_o end_n as_o we_o that_o befall_v the_o wicked_a in_o this_o life_n and_o hereafter_o though_o sin_n be_v the_o next_o and_o subordinate_a cause_n yet_o the_o sovereign_a the_o main_a the_o chief_a the_o grand_a and_o mother_n cause_n be_v god_n hatred_n but_o this_o i_o will_v not_o stand_v upon_o but_o rather_o note_v out_o the_o particular_a application_n of_o god_n hatred_n against_o esau_n and_o observe_v we_o to_o that_o purpose_n it_o be_v here_o say_v god_n hate_v esau_n that_o particular_a person_n esau_n which_o be_v understand_v as_o before_o expound_v afford_v unto_o we_o this_o conclusion_n that_o god_n have_v from_o everlasting_a certain_o decree_v the_o rejection_n of_o some_o particular_a person_n among_o man_n even_o of_o esau_n and_o of_o such_o as_o esau_n be_v doct_n as_o god_n from_o everlasting_a decree_v the_o election_n of_o some_o to_o life_n and_o salvation_n so_o have_v he_o also_o decree_v certain_o the_o rejection_n and_o refuse_v of_o other_o for_o even_o as_o he_o love_v the_o one_o so_o he_o hate_v the_o other_o and_o this_o ground_n of_o truth_n have_v evidence_n and_o proof_n of_o it_o in_o other_o place_n of_o scripture_n in_o the_o 1_o thess_n 5.9_o say_v the_o apostle_n he_o have_v not_o appoint_v we_o to_o wrath_n but_o that_o we_o shall_v obtain_v salvation_n by_o the_o mean_n of_o jesus_n christ_n thereby_o imply_v that_o some_o be_v appoint_v of_o god_n to_o wrath_n and_o in_o his_o eternal_a counsel_n god_n have_v appoint_v that_o some_o shall_v never_o come_v to_o life_n and_o salvation_n and_o in_o 1_o pet._n 2.8_o the_o apostle_n
first_o of_o all_o from_o the_o first_o act_n of_o god_n that_o god_n have_v mercy_n on_o who_o he_o will_v the_o word_n be_v understand_v of_o the_o extend_v and_o reach_v out_o of_o god_n mercy_n here_o again_o the_o same_o point_n be_v offer_v unto_o we_o which_o before_o we_o handle_v in_o the_o 15._o verse_n namely_o doctrine_n that_o god_n mercy_n reach_v out_o and_o extend_v to_o his_o choose_a be_v most_o free_a and_o voluntary_a it_o depend_v upon_o the_o free_a will_n of_o god_n and_o upon_o nothing_o else_o it_o depend_v upon_o nothing_o out_o of_o god_n but_o upon_o his_o mere_a love_n yet_o this_o point_n be_v not_o to_o be_v pass_v over_o without_o some_o further_a use_n and_o applicacation_n than_o heretofore_o be_v make_v use_v and_o for_o the_o application_n of_o it_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v it_o as_o a_o guide_n and_o rule_v unto_o we_o in_o our_o show_v of_o mercy_n to_o our_o brethren_n in_o our_o reach_a and_o extend_v of_o mercy_n here_o be_v a_o rule_n and_o guide_v to_o direct_v we_o do_v god_n extend_v and_o reach_v out_o his_o mercy_n to_o his_o choose_a free_o and_o voluntary_o nothing_o move_v he_o but_o his_o own_o free_a will_n and_o good_a love_n sure_o than_o we_o must_v thus_o do_v we_o must_v be_v merciful_a as_o our_o heavenly_a father_n be_v merciful_a luke_n 6.36_o now_o how_o be_v he_o merciful_a free_o out_o of_o his_o own_o he_o think_v he_o will_v stop_v the_o mouth_n of_o the_o lord_n with_o a_o sacrifice_n so_o when_o man_n have_v get_v their_o good_n by_o oppression_n and_o usury_n then_o when_o they_o be_v upon_o their_o deathbed_n than_o they_o will_v give_v unto_o the_o poor_a but_o the_o show_v of_o mercy_n that_o be_v please_v unto_o god_n must_v come_v out_o of_o a_o tender_a and_o free_a heart_n as_o god_n be_v free_a in_o mercy_n so_o we_o must_v be_v free_a in_o exercise_v the_o work_n of_o mercy_n the_o work_n of_o mercy_n must_v come_v from_o the_o tenderness_n of_o our_o heart_n and_o
