god_n manifold_a deal_n with_o he_o already_o though_o the_o person_n may_v have_v grace_n true_o wrought_v in_o he_o to_o make_v he_o see_v all_o this_o vileness_n yet_o it_o may_v be_v long_o ere_o his_o faith_n shall_v be_v able_a comfortable_o to_o apprehend_v god_n mercy_n to_o forgive_v it_o he_o may_v have_v doubt_n not_o only_o of_o mercy_n but_o of_o the_o truth_n of_o his_o conversion_n as_o if_o it_o seem_v rather_o to_o be_v compulsive_a god_n may_v long_o withhold_v from_o he_o the_o testimony_n of_o his_o love_n who_o have_v a_o long_a time_n perverse_o withhold_v the_o consent_n of_o his_o heart_n from_o return_v unto_o he_o partly_o with_o shame_n it_o will_v be_v a_o exceed_a reproach_n and_o confusion_n of_o face_n unto_o this_o person_n when_o ever_o the_o lord_n convert_v he_o that_o he_o shall_v deal_v with_o the_o lord_n thus_o resist_v his_o spirit_n so_o much_o and_o withstand_v that_o great_a kindness_n of_o god_n intend_v to_o he_o by_o the_o many_o mean_n which_o he_o have_v use_v sure_o after_o that_o i_o be_v turn_v i_o repent_v say_v ephraim_n and_o after_o that_o i_o be_v instruct_v i_o smite_v upon_o my_o thigh_n i_o be_v ashamed_a yea_o any_o ingenuity_n so_o that_o you_o see_v by_o our_o sinful_a shift_n either_o god_n may_v deny_v we_o convert_v grace_n or_o else_o we_o shall_v make_v our_o conversion_n much_o less_o easy_a and_o comfortable_a object_n but_o some_o may_v say_v what_o can_v we_o help_v it_o can_v we_o turn_v our_o own_o heart_n it_o must_v be_v the_o lord_n who_o must_v do_v that_o and_o he_o ourselves_o we_o can_v convert_v ourselves_o may_v do_v it_o at_o the_o first_o as_o well_o at_o at_o the_o last_o if_o he_o will_v sol._n
and_o be_v this_o excuse_n to_o pass_v for_o currant_n have_v not_o god_n deal_v answer_v answer_v with_o thou_o often_o do_v not_o thou_o more_o often_o harden_v thy_o own_o heart_n willing_o withdraw_v thyself_o and_o all_o out_o of_o a_o love_n to_o sin_n 2._o though_o thou_o can_v not_o convert_v thy_o own_o heart_n yet_o this_o thou_o may_v have_v do_v in_o the_o time_n of_o affliction_n etc._n etc._n consider_v what_o may_v move_v the_o lord_n thus_o to_o deal_v with_o thou_o all_o or_o some_o of_o the_o cause_n which_o thy_o own_o conscience_n do_v free_o suggest_v and_o the_o end_n which_o god_n point_v thou_o to_o to_o reform_v they_o and_o then_o to_o have_v go_v to_o he_o by_o vehement_a prayer_n to_o convert_v thy_o heart_n from_o thy_o sin_n to_o teach_v it_o righteousness_n to_o submit_v to_o his_o instruction_n thou_o may_v thus_o have_v go_v to_o he_o who_o can_v convert_v and_o have_v wait_v on_o he_o in_o the_o mean_n of_o conversion_n but_o thou_o do_v nor_o desire_n after_o he_o nor_o delight_v to_o seek_v he_o etc._n etc._n 2._o but_o what_o may_v we_o do_v to_o prevent_v this_o shuffle_n and_o assay_v of_o mean_n to_o support_v we_o direction_n 1._o strive_v to_o be_v convince_v of_o this_o that_o as_o long_o as_o the_o course_n be_v a_o sinful_a course_n it_o course_n be_v convince_v of_o this_o that_o a_o sinful_a course_n can_v be_v a_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d safe_a course_n can_v never_o be_v a_o safe_a course_n we_o may_v weary_v ourselves_o in_o the_o multitude_n of_o our_o imagination_n and_o way_n but_o thou_o do_v add_v drunkenness_n to_o thirst_n and_o still_o find_v out_o thy_o own_o invention_n or_o thy_o own_o power_n thou_o may_v be_v hinder_v of_o the_o time_n which_o thou_o do_v project_n and_o may_v want_v strength_n to_o execute_v thy_o purpose_n for_o sinful_a practice_n do_v altogether_o weaken_v our_o power_n while_o they_o delude_v we_o with_o a_o conceit_n of_o strength_n hereafter_o 2._o stoutness_n and_o pride_n of_o spirit_n do_v not_o in_o a_o bravery_n of_o villainy_n dispute_v with_o the_o almighty_a spirir_fw-fr stoutness_n and_o pride_n of_o spirir_fw-fr god_n it_o may_v prove_v a_o sad_a victory_n to_o thou_o that_o thou_o be_v able_a to_o reject_v good_a counsel_n and_o to_o quench_v all_o good_a motion_n 3._o delight_n sin_n delight_n in_o sin_n in_o sin_n which_o drown_v the_o errand_n of_o all_o affliction_n etc._n etc._n 5._o beseech_v the_o lord_n at_o the_o very_a first_o to_o circumcise_v the_o stubbornness_n heart_n beseech_v the_o lord_n second_o thing_n which_o be_v the_o final_a convert_v the_o final_a disappointment_n of_o all_o the_o prodigal_n design_n doct._n 2._o nothing_o shall_v avail_v the_o shuffle_a sinner_n till_o he_o return_v but_o god_n will_v disappoint_v all_o his_o project_n some_o thing_n premise_v this_o be_v mean_v of_o a_o sinner_n who_o god_n intend_v to_o convert_v disappointment_n of_o the_o prodigal_n be_v but_o steal_v water_n and_o at_o the_o best_a but_o for_o a_o season_n they_o will_v end_v bitter_o and_o on_o the_o contrary_a that_o repentance_n from_o sin_n make_v way_n for_o the_o most_o precious_a fountain_n of_o the_o most_o live_a comfort_n that_o it_o enable_v a_o man_n for_o a_o near_a conjunction_n with_o the_o true_a happiness_n and_o fullness_n of_o most_o infinite_a goodness_n and_o let_v in_o to_o such_o pleasure_n and_o joy_n which_o pass_v all_o understanding_n etc._n etc._n now_o the_o soul_n be_v reduce_v to_o a_o right_a judgement_n and_o begin_v to_o as_o the_o heart_n love_v condition_n this_o win_v our_o love_n to_o a_o convert_a condition_n sin_n it_o will_v never_o leave_v it_o for_o love_n be_v a_o iron_n clasp_v a_o strengthen_v quality_n a_o strong_a and_o tenacious_a quality_n but_o if_o a_o man_n love_n be_v change_v than_o his_o sinful_a way_n will_v quick_o be_v change_v for_o that_o way_n do_v the_o heart_n and_o life_n go_v that_o love_n doâ—h_v go_v they_o be_v not_o out_o who_o say_v that_o amor_n be_v radix_fw-la actionum_fw-la as_o well_o as_o passionum_fw-la now_o by_o a_o right_a comparison_n of_o estate_n there_o will_v appear_v in_o a_o convert_a and_o penitent_a condition_n the_o sole_a and_o sufficient_a cause_n of_o love_n viz._n good_a and_o the_o best_a good_a and_o only_o good_a and_o most_o proper_a and_o suitable_a good_a all_o which_o be_v apt_a to_o draw_v love_n and_o consequent_o repentance_n for_o as_o much_o as_o conversion_n from_o sin_n begin_v in_o love_n to_o god_n 3._o this_o compare_v of_o estate_n in_o the_o wofulness_n of_o the_o one_o and_o mean_n this_o occasional_o stir_v up_o the_o beat_n to_o fly_v to_o god_n by_o prayer_n and_o in_o the_o use_n of_o mean_n in_o the_o happiness_n of_o the_o other_o that_o the_o one_o be_v death_n and_o the_o other_o be_v life_n as_o moses_n propound_v it_o to_o the_o israelite_n occasional_o stir_v up_o the_o heart_n to_o fly_v unto_o god_n by_o prayer_n and_o in_o the_o use_n of_o other_o mean_n for_o grace_n and_o ability_n to_o leave_v the_o path_n of_o death_n and_o to_o walk_v in_o the_o way_n of_o life_n for_o natural_o man_n do_v affect_v life_n and_o happiness_n and_o be_v afraid_a of_o death_n and_o misery_n the_o first_o use_v which_o i_o will_v make_v of_o this_o shall_v be_v for_o information_n sin_n use_v for_o information_n of_o the_o cause_n why_o many_o be_v yet_o in_o their_o sin_n you_o here_o see_v the_o cause_n why_o many_o be_v yet_o in_o their_o sin_n that_o they_o repent_v not_o though_o we_o preach_v though_o god_n punish_v though_o man_n counsel_n sure_o they_o never_o yet_o do_v search_v their_o heart_n and_o way_n they_o never_o do_v consider_v of_o what_o they_o have_v who_o think_v his_o way_n right_a will_v not_o turn_v aside_o and_o that_o man_n who_o know_v no_o better_o will_v never_o leave_v or_o change_v a_o bad_a course_n 4._o you_o advantage_n temptation_n exceed_o you_o be_v under_o the_o edge_n and_o power_n of_o they_o all_o for_o you_o see_v nothing_o to_o hinder_v you_o the_o motion_n to_o sin_n will_v pass_v without_o any_o contradiction_n for_o you_o know_v not_o the_o evil_a nor_o misery_n of_o be_v impenitent_a great_a sin_n will_v seem_v but_o little_a little_o will_v seem_v none_o how_o easy_a be_v he_o to_o sin_n who_o consider_v not_o the_o great_a evil_n in_o sin_n 5._o all_o the_o edge_n of_o the_o ordinance_n be_v blunt_v and_o dull_v by_o inconsideration_n they_o be_v but_o water_n on_o the_o tile_n which_o pass_v away_o for_o be_v the_o man_n as_o nathan_n say_v to_o david_n who_o all_o this_o concern_v 6._o you_o will_v never_o prize_v christ_n aright_o nor_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o give_v of_o christ_n nor_o will_v
