upon_o his_o gracious_a promise_n to_o we_o in_o christ_n if_o hereby_o we_o be_v bring_v to_o reverence_n and_o adore_v his_o sacred_a majesty_n to_o love_v he_o for_o his_o goodness_n and_o to_o yield_v due_a obedience_n unto_o his_o command_n and_o if_o we_o can_v rest_v upon_o his_o promise_n and_o discern_v his_o wisdom_n and_o glory_n by_o his_o work_n this_o must_v be_v the_o main_a god_n assist_v grace_n so_o that_o our_o meditation_n can_v make_v no_o holy_a impression_n in_o our_o heart_n no_o print_n of_o piety_n in_o our_o life_n and_o conversation_n neither_o can_v they_o send_v forth_o any_o beam_n of_o true_a consolation_n to_o our_o soul_n wherefore_o if_o our_o heart_n be_v not_o sanctify_v and_o season_v with_o grace_n our_o meditation_n can_v be_v to_o the_o sweeten_v the_o bitterness_n of_o all_o our_o suffering_n with_o true_a peace_n of_o conscience_n and_o tranquillity_n of_o mind_n in_o the_o assurance_n of_o the_o pardon_n of_o our_o sin_n he_o the_o eternal_a comfort_n of_o our_o soul_n how_o to_o enjoy_v true_a happiness_n all_o man_n desire_v to_o be_v happy_a but_o few_o seek_v it_o where_o it_o be_v to_o be_v find_v some_o seek_v it_o in_o moral_a virtue_n and_o natural_a endowment_n some_o in_o moral_a virtue_n and_o natural_a endowment_n some_o in_o worldly_a pleasure_n and_o profit_n other_o think_v to_o find_v it_o in_o riches_n and_o honour_n but_o all_o come_v far_o short_a of_o the_o glory_n of_o true_a happiness_n though_o they_o do_v obtain_v their_o desire_n in_o all_o earthly_a thing_n for_o all_o that_o this_o world_n do_v afford_v can_v make_v a_o man_n true_o happy_a so_o much_o as_o in_o this_o life_n much_o less_o can_v it_o procure_v his_o happiness_n in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v for_o there_o will_v still_o be_v something_o want_v or_o else_o something_o to_o embitter_v their_o contentment_n in_o these_o thing_n here_o below_o if_o we_o have_v honour_n or_o authority_n to_o day_n we_o may_v be_v in_o ignominy_n and_o disgrace_n to_o morrow_n if_o we_o have_v riches_n and_o plenty_n to_o day_n we_o may_v be_v expose_v to_o want_v and_o penury_n to_o morrow_n sickness_n or_o pain_n will_v blast_v all_o our_o earthly_a contentment_n but_o when_o death_n come_v it_o will_v bereave_v we_o of_o they_o all_o it_o be_v in_o vain_a therefore_o to_o seek_v our_o happiness_n in_o these_o vain_a thing_n or_o to_o put_v our_o confidence_n in_o they_o for_o our_o felicity_n do_v not_o consist_v in_o uncertain_a riches_n or_o in_o transitory_a honour_n and_o pleasure_n which_o in_o themselves_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o vanity_n and_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n but_o true_a happiness_n be_v from_o above_o and_o it_o consist_v in_o the_o sweet_a fruition_n of_o god_n this_o happiness_n we_o have_v in_o the_o state_n of_o innocency_n but_o we_o lose_v it_o by_o the_o fall_n of_o our_o first_o parent_n and_o we_o have_v no_o mean_n to_o recover_v it_o but_o only_o by_o
