reason_n why_o people_n complain_v so_o much_o of_o difficulty_n in_o duty_n it_o be_v because_o their_o heart_n be_v not_o prepare_v indeed_o we_o have_v natural_o many_o thing_n to_o keep_v we_o off_o from_o god_n but_o now_o when_o the_o heart_n be_v prepare_v for_o a_o holy_a duty_n it_o go_v off_o as_o easy_a to_o god_n even_o into_o the_o infinite_a ocean_n of_o all_o mercy_n and_o god_n worship_n that_o god_n call_v you_o to_o and_o i_o say_v within_o a_o little_a time_n thou_o may_v bring_v thy_o heart_n into_o such_o a_o temper_n as_o thou_o may_v be_v ready_a at_o all_o he_o so_o much_o as_o may_v serve_v his_o turn_n either_o to_o satisfy_v his_o conscience_n or_o to_o get_v credit_n and_o esteem_v to_o be_v account_v eminent_a in_o such_o a_o way_n so_o much_o he_o do_v do_v but_o his_o duty_n be_v always_o limit_v within_o such_o bound_n and_o if_o he_o can_v conceive_v that_o he_o may_v go_v to_o heaven_n and_o that_o he_o may_v have_v as_o much_o credit_n and_o honour_n and_o as_o much_o peace_n of_o conscience_n with_o do_v less_o he_o will_v do_v less_o but_o now_o one_o that_o have_v grace_n though_o but_o little_a though_o but_o the_o least_o than_o these_o that_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n with_o joy_n and_o yet_o they_o have_v not_o this_o honest_a heart_n yea_o they_o may_v hear_v the_o word_n so_o as_o to_o bring_v forth_o a_o blade_n and_o yet_o nor_o have_v this_o honest_a heart_n by_o this_o honest_a heart_n i_o take_v therefore_o to_o be_v mean_v this_o a_o heart_n that_o deal_v square_o and_o true_o with_o god_n behave_v itself_o in_o a_o beseem_a manner_n suitable_a to_o that_o authority_n and_o excellency_n that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o now_o for_o example_n 1_o first_o among_o man_n he_o be_v account_v a_o honest_a man_n that_o deal_v square_o and_o true_o with_o man_n in_o all_o action_n such_o a_o man_n you_o will_v say_v be_v a_o honest_a man_n as_o honest_a a_o man_n as_o ever_o break_v bread_n that_o be_v one_o that_o will_v deal_v square_o with_o man_n not_o only_o in_o one_o thing_n but_o turn_v he_o to_o any_o thing_n and_o you_o shall_v find_v a_o proportion_n between_o one_o action_n and_o another_o so_o this_o be_v a_o honest_a heart_n not_o one_o that_o only_o will_v be_v forward_o for_o god_n in_o some_o one_o action_n wherein_o he_o may_v enjoy_v himself_o as_o well_o as_o god_n but_o one_o that_o deal_v square_o with_o god_n let_v god_n put_v he_o upon_o duty_n upon_o any_o service_n god_n shall_v find_v he_o still_o to_o be_v the_o same_o have_v the_o same_o thing_n in_o substance_n but_o administer_v in_o a_o dark_a way_n and_o many_o difference_n there_o be_v but_o now_o when_o we_o hear_v of_o the_o new_a testament_n there_o be_v present_v unto_o we_o all_o the_o riches_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o way_n of_o a_o legacy_n and_o in_o the_o administration_n of_o it_o with_o clearness_n and_o with_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o mercy_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n the_o terror_n and_o harshness_n of_o the_o old_a administration_n be_v take_v away_o now_o these_o be_v the_o meditation_n by_o which_o we_o shall_v labour_v to_o sanctify_v our_o heart_n when_o we_o be_v receive_v of_o the_o sacrament_n and_o in_o the_o work_n of_o these_o meditation_n upon_o our_o heart_n we_o shall_v come_v to_o sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n when_o we_o be_v draw_v nigh_o to_o he_o in_o that_o holy_a ordinance_n of_o he_o thus_o for_o meditation_n the_o next_o thing_n when_o we_o be_v there_o must_v be_v a_o dead_a the_o heart_n very_o much_o so_o say_v david_n in_o the_o 119._o turn_v away_o my_o eye_n from_o behold_v vanity_n and_o quicken_v i_o in_o thy_o law_n while_o our_o eye_n look_v upon_o because_o there_o be_v but_o a_o little_a grace_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o corruption_n in_o young_a convert_n like_o a_o spark_n of_o fire_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o ash_n now_o if_o there_o lie_v a_o heap_n of_o ash_n and_o nothing_o else_o you_o do_v not_o stir_v they_o but_o if_o there_o be_v ash_n and_o some_o fire_n than_o you_o will_v stir_v they_o and_o be_v blow_v those_o spark_n to_o kindle_v another_o fire_n by_o now_o when_o you_o come_v to_o make_v any_o motion_n than_o the_o ash_n will_v fly_v about_o whereas_o before_o they_o and_o that_o there_o be_v such_o stir_n of_o corruption_n more_o than_o there_o be_v before_o it_o be_v not_o because_o there_o be_v more_o corruption_n than_o there_o be_v former_o but_o before_o there_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o corruption_n it_o lay_v still_o and_o now_o because_o there_o be_v something_o else_o therefore_o it_o be_v that_o corruption_n do_v so_o stir_v and_o beside_o vanity_n and_o lust_n be_v as_o friend_n together_o there_o be_v no_o disturbance_n and_o take_v notice_n of_o any_o thing_n then_o but_o now_o when_o the_o soul_n be_v cast_v out_o those_o sinful_a distemper_n and_o will_v have_v no_o more_o of_o they_o they_o for_o the_o present_n will_v be_v more_o importunate_a active_a and_o stir_v than_o they_o be_v before_o and_o beside_o the_o lord_n do_v this_o to_o humble_v thy_o heart_n the_o more_o that_o thereby_o thou_o may_v come_v to_o see_v the_o great_a corruption_n that_o be_v in_o thy_o soul_n before_o the_o work_n of_o thy_o corruption_n will_v discover_v much_o evil_n in_o thy_o heart_n that_o thou_o do_v not_o think_v be_v there_o before_o when_o the_o corruption_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n lie_v still_o they_o think_v there_o be_v no_o such_o thing_n in_o their_o soul_n as_o your_o civil_a man_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o they_o bless_v themselves_o and_o think_v they_o be_v in_o a_o good_a condition_n it_o be_v because_o their_o corruption_n lie_v still_o in_o they_o and_o do_v not_o stir_v they_o can_v believe_v what_o abundance_n of_o wickedness_n there_o be_v in_o their_o heart_n if_o god_n shall_v open_v the_o wickedness_n that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n natural_o and_o so_o all_o unregenerate_a man_n they_o will_v think_v you_o speak_v strange_a riddle_n whereas_o they_o bless_v themselves_o they_o bless_v god_n they_o know_v no_o such_o thing_n in_o their_o heart_n no_o yes_o there_o be_v such_o thing_n only_o they_o be_v not_o stir_v but_o they_o lie_v quiet_a as_o mud_n in_o the_o bottom_n of_o a_o pond_n there_o it_o be_v yet_o you_o can_v see_v it_o till_o it_o be_v stir_v at_o first_o conversion_n i_o say_v the_o lord_n suffer_v thy_o corruption_n thus_o to_o stir_v that_o he_o may_v discover_v to_o thou_o what_o a_o evil_a heart_n thou_o have_v what_o abundance_n of_o sin_n there_o be_v in_o thy_o heart_n and_o therefore_o your_o young_a convert_n they_o look_v upon_o themselves_o more_o loathsome_a and_o vile_a than_o over_o they_o think_v they_o have_v be_v and_o beside_o the_o devil_n see_v it_o a_o vain_a thing_n to_o tempt_v a_o young_a convert_n trouble_v for_o they_o and_o yet_o they_o come_v again_o do_v but_o try_v for_o this_o week_n as_o i_o remember_v i_o say_v in_o the_o point_n of_o passion_n and_o anger_n that_o we_o shall_v resolve_v with_o ourselves_o well_o whatsoever_o fall_v out_o this_o morning_n i_o be_o resolve_v i_o will_v bear_v it_o so_o bethink_v thyself_o how_o many_o prayer_n thou_o have_v lose_v by_o vain_a thought_n and_o now_o renew_v thy_o resolution_n and_o covenant_n with_o god_n that_o for_o this_o prayer_n i_o will_v set_v myself_o against_o they_o whatsoever_o pain_n i_o take_v i_o will_v b_o sure_a yet_o withal_o to_o look_v up_o to_o god_n grace_n to_o assist_v i_o i_o will_v be_v sure_a this_o prayer_n to_o keep_v my_o heart_n close_o to_o what_o i_o be_o about_o and_o perhaps_o that_o before_o you_o in_o prayer_n have_v a_o real_a light_n of_o the_o infinite_a greatness_n majesty_n and_o glory_n of_o that_o you_o present_v yourselves_o unto_o when_o you_o be_v call_v upon_o he_o if_o so_o be_v that_o thou_o can_v have_v a_o real_a sight_n of_o god_n in_o his_o glory_n it_o will_v keep_v thy_o heart_n close_o to_o the_o duty_n as_o if_o a_o man_n be_v wander_v with_o his_o
