at_o the_o counsel_n and_o wisdom_n of_o god_n who_o do_v his_o people_n good_a by_o thresh_v they_o and_o bring_v the_o wheel_n over_o they_o here_o be_v several_a sort_n of_o affliction_n and_o suffering_n some_o lesser_a and_o some_o great_a now_o all_o this_o be_v but_o to_o separate_v the_o good_a seed_n from_o the_o chaff_n and_o to_o make_v it_o more_o fit_a for_o use_v for_o while_o the_o corn_n be_v in_o the_o ear_n it_o be_v not_o fit_a for_o use_v and_o we_o can_v make_v bread_n of_o it_o until_o it_o be_v thresht_v now_o the_o lord_n have_v several_a way_n to_o do_v it_o but_o say_v he_o this_o come_v forth_o from_o the_o lord_n of_o host_n which_o be_v wonderful_a in_o counsel_n and_o excellent_a in_o work_v true_o we_o may_v say_v how_o wonderful_a be_v the_o counsel_n of_o the_o lord_n how_o excellent_a be_v his_o work_n that_o he_o make_v the_o righteous_a to_o flourish_v like_o the_o palmtree_n to_o grow_v upward_o by_o that_o which_o one_o will_v think_v shall_v bring_v they_o down_o as_o when_o we_o fee_v the_o corn_n lay_v at_o and_o thresht_v with_o a_o flail_n one_o will_v think_v there_o be_v great_a hurt_n intend_v to_o the_o corn_n be_v by_o the_o world_n it_o be_v only_o to_o make_v they_o appear_v what_o they_o be_v that_o which_o we_o find_v in_o psal_n 69._o 22._o concern_v the_o wicked_a by_o that_o we_o may_v observe_v the_o wonderful_a difference_n and_o deal_n of_o god_n with_o the_o wicked_a who_o flourish_n as_o the_o grass_n and_o the_o righteous_a david_n speak_v there_o of_o such_o and_o say_v he_o let_v their_o table_n become_v a_o snare_n and_o that_o which_o shall_v have_v be_v for_o their_o welfare_n let_v it_o become_v a_o trap_n that_o be_v the_o lord_n do_v curse_v their_o comfort_n by_o table_n he_o mean_v the_o good_a thing_n upon_o their_o table_n when_o they_o have_v a_o full_a table_n a_o plentiful_a table_n and_o so_o all_o outward_a prosperity_n say_v he_o it_o shall_v be_v a_o snare_n to_o they_o and_o that_o which_o shall_v have_v be_v for_o their_o good_a that_o be_v that_o which_o in_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o be_v for_o their_o good_a it_o shall_v be_v a_o occasion_n for_o their_o fall_n they_o shall_v grow_v more_o harden_v by_o it_o more_o proud_a by_o it_o and_o more_o impenitent_a by_o it_o and_o more_o stranger_n to_o god_n by_o it_o but_o now_o when_o the_o lord_n speak_v of_o a_o righteous_a man_n here_o the_o thing_n which_o be_v appoint_v for_o his_o snare_n as_o the_o trouble_n and_o persecution_n which_o lie_v upon_o he_o in_o the_o world_n shall_v be_v a_o table_n to_o he_o his_o very_a snare_n shall_v be_v a_o table_n to_o his_o inner_a man_n where_o his_o grace_n shall_v come_v and_o feed_v and_o grow_v fat_a and_o flourish_v and_o increase_v the_o thing_n which_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n have_v devise_v for_o his_o fall_n they_o shall_v be_v to_o he_o a_o occasion_n of_o good_a this_o be_v wonderful_a and_o we_o be_v to_o bless_v the_o lord_n for_o it_o when_o we_o find_v such_o effect_n of_o it_o when_o we_o see_v it_o so_o in_o other_o or_o have_v any_o experience_n of_o it_o in_o ourselves_o that_o our_o affliction_n do_v not_o snare_v we_o but_o be_v a_o table_n to_o our_o grace_n that_o be_v another_o thing_n to_o give_v god_n the_o glory_n of_o it_o for_o it_o be_v not_o in_o the_o nature_n of_o these_o thing_n to_o do_v it_o no_o thing_n will_v work_v quite_o otherwise_o but_o that_o god_n be_v wonderful_a in_o his_o counsel_n and_o excellent_a in_o his_o working_n towards_o his_o people_n they_o will_v rather_o drive_v we_o from_o god_n and_o destroy_v our_o grace_n three_o see_v it_o be_v so_o that_o righteous_a one_o do_v flourish_n as_o the_o palmtree_n then_o when_o any_o weight_n of_o affliction_n either_o personal_a or_o public_a or_o persecution_n or_o whatsoever_o be_v upon_o any_o of_o we_o let_v we_o mind_n the_o purpose_n of_o god_n towards_o we_o let_v we_o not_o think_v that_o he_o come_v to_o hurt_v we_o but_o to_o make_v we_o grow_v and_o flourish_v like_o a_o palmtree_n let_v we_o mind_n this_o and_o join_v with_o god_n in_o this_o counsel_n in_o lay_v such_o thing_n upon_o his_o people_n let_v we_o join_v with_o god_n and_o promote_v the_o counsel_n of_o god_n in_o our_o own_o heart_n and_o life_n and_o in_o the_o heart_n and_o life_n of_o other_o that_o they_o may_v be_v better_v by_o their_o suffering_n and_o be_v encourage_v by_o their_o suffering_n to_o believe_v more_o in_o god_n and_o more_o for_o god_n than_o ever_o they_o be_v god_n do_v not_o intend_v we_o hurt_v but_o good_a by_o it_o and_o so_o we_o shall_v find_v it_o if_o we_o be_v wise_a to_o join_v with_o he_o in_o his_o purpose_n four_o and_o then_o i_o will_v say_v yet_o further_o this_o may_v be_v matter_n of_o trial_n to_o we_o we_o may_v take_v a_o trial_n of_o ourselves_o both_o as_o to_o the_o state_n of_o our_o person_n and_o as_o to_o the_o state_n of_o our_o grace_n first_o as_o to_o the_o state_n of_o our_o person_n why_o how_o be_v it_o with_o we_o under_o suffering_n do_v we_o improve_v by_o they_o do_v we_o grow_v do_v we_o flourish_v though_o we_o have_v these_o weight_n upon_o we_o why_o true_o it_o be_v a_o argument_n and_o evidence_n that_o our_o state_n be_v good_a for_o a_o bad_a man_n be_v not_o make_v the_o better_a by_o the_o evil_n that_o be_v upon_o he_o i_o know_v god_n may_v use_v affliction_n to_o change_v a_o man_n but_o unsound_a heart_n they_o that_o have_v be_v unsound_a and_o false_a in_o the_o profession_n of_o the_o gospel_n they_o do_v discover_v themselves_o in_o such_o a_o time_n show_v their_o rottenness_n and_o their_o naughtiness_n and_o it_o be_v a_o very_a great_a question_n whether_o they_o that_o be_v not_o better_v by_o affliction_n be_v ever_o good_a though_o i_o will_v not_o speak_v it_o to_o lay_v a_o trouble_n upon_o any_o our_o bettering_n sometime_o under_o affliction_n be_v not_o very_o discernible_a at_o least_o at_o present_a but_o i_o say_v it_o may_v put_v we_o much_o upon_o a_o doubt_n whether_o we_o or_o any_o be_v ever_o real_o good_a if_o we_o be_v not_o better_v by_o affliction_n and_o by_o trial_n and_o by_o the_o trouble_n that_o be_v upon_o we_o and_o by_o our_o fear_n and_o by_o our_o danger_n and_o likewise_o we_o may_v hence_o have_v a_o great_a trial_n as_o to_o the_o state_n of_o our_o grace_n whether_o our_o grace_n be_v in_o good_a plight_n yea_o or_o no._n for_o indeed_o if_o faith_n be_v down_o and_o the_o like_a we_o shall_v make_v little_a improvement_n of_o all_o our_o affliction_n and_o cross_n if_o love_n to_o christ_n be_v down_o we_o shall_v rather_o be_v upon_o the_o lose_a side_n but_o now_o if_o we_o find_v that_o we_o be_v increase_v and_o be_v grow_v and_o flourish_v in_o spiritual_n when_o the_o weight_n and_o pressure_n be_v upon_o we_o it_o be_v a_o argument_n that_o our_o grace_n be_v in_o a_o good_a state_n and_o grace_n be_v in_o a_o good_a state_n when_o it_o thrive_v and_o thrive_v by_o such_o mean_n as_o seem_v rather_o for_o the_o quench_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o hindrance_n of_o grace_n and_o therefore_o true_o we_o shall_v consider_v ourselves_o at_o this_o day_n for_o certain_o the_o palm-tree_n be_v now_o with_o their_o weight_n upon_o they_o and_o many_o have_v discover_v themselves_o sad_o as_o to_o their_o person_n state_n and_o the_o state_n of_o their_o grace_n that_o they_o have_v very_o little_a love_n to_o and_o faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n because_o they_o have_v not_o flourish_v in_o such_o a_o day_n but_o rather_o have_v decline_v and_o withdraw_v and_o be_v ashamed_a of_o what_o they_o have_v former_o be_v and_o therefore_o let_v we_o remember_v that_o which_o the_o apostle_n speak_v in_o heb._n 12._o speak_v of_o affliction_n which_o be_v suffering_n for_o christ_n that_o be_v take_v in_o the_o chapter_n not_o only_o those_o affliction_n which_o be_v fatherly_a chastisement_n from_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n but_o those_o which_o be_v from_o man_n for_o righteousness_n sake_n certain_o that_o be_v the_o purpose_n of_o god_n it_o be_v all_o for_o our_o profit_n therefore_o let_v we_o consider_v whether_o we_o profit_v yea_o or_o no._n we_o have_v have_v father_n of_o our_o flesh_n which_o correct_v we_o and_o we_o give_v they_o reverence_n shall_v we_o not_o much_o rather_o be_v in_o subjection_n to_o the_o father_n of_o spirit_n and_o live_v submit_v to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n if_o he_o will_v lay_v any_o tribulation_n upon_o we_o for_o his_o name_n sake_n for_o he_o have_v do_v all_o for_o our_o profit_n what_o profit_n for_o the_o profit_n of_o our_o purse_n and_o estate_n in_o this_o world_n no_o for_o a_o better_a profit_n than_o all_o that_o for_o our_o profit_n that_o we_o may_v be_v make_v partaker_n of_o his_o holiness_n and_o true_o that_o be_v another_o thing_n with_o which_o i_o shall_v conclude_v we_o say_v this_o that_o we_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o be_v impatient_a under_o affliction_n and_o persecution_n under_o the_o trouble_v we_o meet_v with_o in_o this_o world_n for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n why_o for_o they_o be_v for_o our_o profit_n for_o our_o grow_n and_o that_o we_o may_v be_v make_v more_o partaker_n of_o the_o holiness_n of_o god_n that_o we_o may_v be_v better_o while_o we_o live_v and_o fit_a to_o die_v
