true_a it_o be_v not_o but_o how_o shall_v we_o know_v the_o difference_n true_o it_o be_v hard_o to_o perceive_v when_o man_n differ_v and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o a_o easy_a matter_n to_o make_v such_o use_n of_o sanctification_n as_o by_o it_o to_o bear_v witness_n unto_o justification_n and_o it_o will_v be_v a_o very_a hard_a case_n yea_o much_o more_o difficult_a when_o man_n can_v feel_v the_o presence_n of_o spiritual_a gift_n but_o want_v spiritual_a light_n and_o when_o they_o do_v find_v faith_n in_o themselves_o they_o will_v find_v it_o in_o hypocrite_n also_o even_o faith_n to_o seek_v the_o lord_n and_o faith_n to_o wait_v upon_o he_o and_o faith_n to_o apply_v he_o say_v my_o god_n and_o faith_n to_o stay_v upon_o the_o god_n of_o israel_n and_o yet_o these_o man_n do_v vanish_v away_o in_o hypocrisy_n this_o hypocrite_n may_v do_v see_v therefore_o what_o easiness_n of_o error_n may_v befall_v christian_n whether_o this_o or_o that_o grace_n may_v be_v of_o the_o right_a stamp_n or_o no_o it_o will_v behoove_v christian_n to_o be_v wary_a for_o even_o eagle-eyed_a christian_n will_v have_v much_o ado_n so_o to_o discern_v of_o sanctification_n in_o themselves_o before_o they_o see_v their_o justification_n as_o to_o cut_v off_o all_o hypocrite_n from_o have_v the_o like_a in_o they_o for_o the_o sanctify_a frame_n of_o life_n in_o god_n child_n and_o that_o which_o seem_v to_o be_v like_o it_o in_o hypocrite_n both_o of_o they_o spring_n from_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o both_o from_o faith_n but_o now_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n have_v this_o far_a work_n in_o his_o own_o people_n beyond_o what_o he_o work_v upon_o other_o though_o he_o melt_v both_o yet_o hypocrite_n be_v melt_v as_o iron_n which_o will_v return_v again_o to_o his_o hardness_n but_o his_o own_o people_n be_v melt_v into_o flesh_n which_o will_v never_o return_v to_o his_o hardness_n more_o neither_o can_v they_o rest_v in_o any_o measure_n of_o softness_n unto_o which_o they_o have_v attain_v but_o still_o be_v carry_v towards_o jesus_n christ_n so_o that_o the_o one_o be_v a_o temporary_a faith_n and_o the_o other_o persever_v though_o both_o work_n in_o the_o name_n of_o jesus_n christ_n yet_o this_o difference_n will_v be_v find_v between_o they_o not_o only_a when_o hypocrite_n come_v to_o be_v blast_v but_o even_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o their_o profession_n as_o for_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o jesus_n christ_n it_o be_v not_o precedent_n of_o his_o own_o power_n but_o his_o strength_n lie_v out_o of_o himself_o in_o jesus_n christ_n whereas_o hypocrite_n and_o legal_a christian_n be_v confident_a of_o their_o faith_n that_o they_o can_v make_v use_n of_o it_o unto_o such_o and_o such_o end_n they_o think_v they_o need_v no_o more_o but_o look_v up_o to_o jesus_n christ_n &_o their_o work_n be_v at_o a_o end_n and_o such_o strength_n they_o find_v in_o themselves_o that_o they_o do_v not_o fear_v but_o that_o they_o shall_v carry_v a_o end_n all_o their_o work_n in_o a_o safe_a course_n to_o god_n glory_n and_o their_o own_o where_o as_o the_o strong_a faith_n even_o of_o the_o thessalonian_o who_o faith_n be_v such_o as_o that_o none_o of_o all_o the_o church_n go_v before_o they_o if_o it_o be_v not_o supply_v and_o strengthen_v they_o know_v and_o the_o apostle_n paul_n know_v that_o it_o will_v christ_n when_o the_o lord_n give_v we_o to_o look_v unto_o the_o lord_n jesus_n in_o it_o and_o to_o it_o in_o he_o and_o as_o we_o look_v for_o our_o holiness_n to_o be_v perfect_a in_o jesus_n christ_n so_o we_o look_v for_o continual_a supply_n of_o it_o from_o he_o and_o this_o it_o be_v to_o make_v christ_n our_o sanctification_n when_o as_o whatsoever_o gift_n the_o lord_n give_v we_o we_o go_v not_o forth_o in_o the_o strength_n of_o it_o but_o in_o the_o strength_n of_o jesus_n christ_n there_o may_v be_v a_o change_n in_o the_o soul_n which_o may_v spring_v from_o a_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n and_o may_v captivate_v our_o conscience_n unto_o the_o law_n that_o may_v restrain_v we_o from_o sin_n and_o constrain_v we_o unto_o duty_n but_o such_o holiness_n spring_v not_o from_o union_n with_o jesus_n christ_n for_o there_o may_v be_v a_o conscience_n of_o duty_n without_o sense_n of_o our_o need_n of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o israelite_n at_o whatsoever_o for_o a_o little_a further_o open_v of_o it_o 1._o trust_v not_o in_o any_o gift_n that_o you_o have_v receive_v for_o the_o performance_n of_o any_o duty_n for_o it_o be_v not_o the_o strong_a christian_a that_o be_v able_a to_o put_v forth_o a_o good_a thought_n 2_o cor._n 3.5_o but_o our_o sufficiency_n be_v of_o god_n he_o that_o abide_v in_o i_o and_o i_o in_o he_o the_o same_o make_v it_o a_o principle_n of_o christian_a religion_n that_o the_o just_a man_n live_v by_o his_o faith_n and_o he_o often_o mention_v it_o gal._n 2.20_o the_o life_n which_o i_o now_o live_v in_o the_o flesh_n i_o live_v by_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n where_o he_o put_v it_o into_o his_o own_o experience_n why_o do_v he_o not_o live_v by_o love_n and_o patience_n and_o zeal_n etc._n etc._n yes_o true_o they_o be_v lively_a in_o he_o if_o ever_o in_o any_o man_n beside_o our_o bless_a saviour_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o never_o attribute_v life_n to_o any_o of_o these_o gift_n of_o he_o but_o if_o he_o speak_v of_o his_o life_n he_o make_v this_o his_o universal_a life_n i_o live_v by_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o i_o be_o i_o be_o able_a to_o do_v all_o thing_n through_o christ_n which_o strengthen_v i_o phil._n 4.13_o this_o be_v the_o true_a savour_n of_o a_o christian_a spirit_n that_o when_o gift_n be_v at_o the_o high_a the_o be_v true_o spiritual_a sanctification_n that_o when_o the_o soul_n be_v full_a of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n yet_o he_o be_v like_o a_o man_n in_o great_a penury_n as_o have_v nothing_o of_o himself_o this_o be_v a_o marvellous_a spiritual_a poverty_n and_o you_o shall_v ever_o find_v and_o i_o desire_v the_o lord_n will_v open_v the_o heart_n of_o his_o pipe_n yet_o one_o blast_n of_o the_o bellows_n put_v breath_n into_o they_o all_o so_o that_o all_o of_o they_o at_o once_o break_v forth_o into_o a_o kind_n of_o melody_n and_o give_v a_o pleasant_a sound_n to_o the_o ear_n of_o those_o that_o stand_v by_o all_o of_o they_o do_v make_v but_o one_o instrument_n and_o one_o sound_n and_o yet_o variety_n of_o music_n so_o be_v this_o very_a case_n look_v at_o all_o the_o live_a member_n of_o christ_n they_o be_v all_o compact_a together_o and_o set_v into_o one_o stock_n and_o root_n by_o which_o mean_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o though_o they_o be_v many_o thousand_o yet_o they_o all_o make_v a_o melodious_a harmony_n in_o the_o ear_n of_o the_o lord_n of_o host_n therefore_o for_o the_o combine_a of_o we_o into_o the_o unity_n of_o one_o spirit_n necessary_a it_o be_v that_o the_o same_o spirit_n that_o breathe_v in_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n shall_v breathe_v in_o we_o all_o and_o though_o the_o divine_a nature_n of_o christ_n be_v god_n the_o humane_a nature_n be_v finite_a and_o yet_o have_v the_o spirit_n above_o the_o capacity_n of_o the_o creature_n and_o this_o same_o spirit_n do_v act_n and_o guide_v and_o move_v all_o our_o affair_n in_o he_o and_o which_o be_v wonderful_a it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o the_o same_o spirit_n breathe_v in_o christ_n and_o in_o we_o we_o have_v not_o only_o a_o measure_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o do_v one_o duty_n but_o he_o do_v concur_v with_o we_o in_o all_o spiritual_a duty_n which_o we_o undertake_v according_a to_o he_o for_o without_o he_o we_o can_v and_o displeasure_n of_o god_n whether_o it_o be_v his_o own_o sin_n or_o the_o sin_n of_o his_o brethren_n therefore_o he_o run_v unto_o god_n for_o mercy_n which_o he_o will_v not_o do_v if_o he_o for_o his_o daily_a bread_n from_o all_o his_o obedience_n but_o expect_v all_o goodness_n and_o blessing_n from_o the_o treasure_n of_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n use_v 3_o this_o may_v also_o serve_v to_o teach_v man_n some_o kind_n of_o discernment_n of_o their_o own_o spirit_n and_o state_n if_o you_o look_v for_o justification_n no_o long_o than_o you_o be_v obedient_a and_o fear_v eternal_a condemnation_n when_o you_o be_v disobedient_a if_o you_o be_v afraid_a of_o divorce_n from_o christ_n because_o of_o your_o sin_n or_o if_o you_o look_v for_o any_o blessing_n and_o challenge_v right_a to_o any_o promise_n by_o virtue_n of_o any_o well-doing_n of_o your_o own_o in_o such_o a_o case_n either_o thou_o be_v under_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n or_o at_o the_o least_o thou_o be_v go_v aside_o to_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o if_o ever_o the_o lord_n open_v your_o eye_n and_o bestow_v his_o free_a grace_n upon_o you_o you_o will_v know_v your_o redemption_n from_o such_o dependence_n as_o these_o be_v i_o know_v a_o christian_a man_n that_o have_v not_o be_v clear_o teach_v the_o distinct_a difference_n of_o the_o two_o covenant_n may_v be_v mislead_v into_o dangerous_a way_n that_o may_v tend_v unto_o the_o utter_a undo_n of_o his_o soul_n but_o it_o be_v a_o sin_n of_o ignorance_n and_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o leave_v his_o servant_n but_o clear_v up_o his_o truth_n and_o grace_n unto_o they_o may_v serve_v to_o teach_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n use_v 4_o that_o desire_n to_o walk_v in_o a_o way_n of_o constant_a comfort_n how_o to_o build_v their_o faith_n and_o their_o hope_n true_o if_o they_o be_v ground_v upon_o your_o own_o obedience_n or_o righteousness_n or_o
sanctification_n if_o they_o depend_v upon_o you_o you_o will_v find_v your_o heart_n ever_o unsettled_a you_o may_v find_v comfort_n as_o under_o the_o law_n you_o shall_v for_o if_o a_o man_n be_v marry_v to_o the_o law_n the_o law_n will_v cast_v in_o comfort_n upon_o he_o because_o of_o his_o obedience_n but_o if_o you_o shall_v believe_v that_o christ_n be_v you_o and_o comfort_v build_v their_o union_n and_o fellowship_n with_o jesus_n christ_n upon_o they_o that_o so_o they_o may_v know_v the_o freedom_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n that_o justifi_v the_o ungodly_a then_o will_v the_o poor_a soul_n be_v glad_a to_o seek_v after_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o say_v as_o the_o people_n of_o god_n sometime_o do_v hos_n 2.7_o i_o will_v go_v and_o return_v to_o my_o first_o husband_n for_o than_o be_v it_o better_a with_o i_o then_o now_o now_o the_o soul_n will_v plain_o see_v and_o discern_v that_o he_o close_v not_o with_o his_o true_a husband_n when_o as_o himself_o unto_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o his_o grace_n not_o only_o his_o attribute_n but_o his_o person_n all_o that_o be_v god_n be_v give_v by_o virtue_n of_o this_o covenant_n if_o god_n will_v give_v himself_o not_o only_o to_o choose_v we_o to_o life_n and_o glory_n but_o his_o son_n to_o redeem_v we_o and_o his_o holy_a spirit_n to_o sanctify_v we_o ezek._n 36.27_o what_o need_n be_v there_o of_o sanctification_n for_o if_o the_o holy_a ghost_n will_v dwell_v in_o we_o he_o can_v take_v our_o wit_n and_o understanding_n and_o understand_v all_o our_o meditation_n for_o his_o holy_a spirit_n to_o dwell_v in_o we_o yet_o be_v it_o needful_a that_o we_o shall_v be_v endue_v with_o all_o the_o gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n that_o do_v accompany-salvation_n you_o will_v say_v what_o need_n be_v there_o then_o that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n shall_v dwell_v in_o we_o or_o will_v not_o these_o carry_v a_o end_n our_o soul_n unto_o immortality_n true_o we_o something_o that_o flee_v from_o a_o man_n as_o peace_n will_v many_o time_n flee_v from_o one_o and_o a_o man_n will_v have_v much_o ado_n to_o attain_v unto_o it_o psal_n 120.6_o 7._o my_o soul_n have_v long_o dwell_v with_o he_o that_o hate_v peace_n i_o be_o for_o peace_n but_o when_o i_o speak_v they_o be_v for_o war_n it_o be_v not_o easy_o attain_v unto_o therefore_o shall_v not_o be_v suffer_v to_o depart_v but_o hold_v fast_o when_o it_o be_v enjoy_v and_o so_o for_o holiness_n the_o apostle_n will_v have_v we_o make_v a_o holy_a kind_n of_o pursuit_n after_o it_o as_o if_o it_o be_v still_o withdraw_v from_o we_o which_o come_v through_o the_o corruption_n of_o our_o heart_n for_o we_o be_v soon_o weary_a of_o holy_a duty_n as_o prayer_n or_o conference_n or_o the_o like_a if_o holiness_n be_v in_o any_o thing_n it_o soon_o grow_v wearisome_a to_o flesh_n and_o blood_n but_o though_o our_o weak_a and_o feeble_a nature_n will_v be_v withdraw_v we_o from_o holiness_n yet_o the_o lord_n will_v have_v we_o to_o follow_v it_o and_o pursue_v it_o and_o so_o shall_v a_o man_n be_v withdraw_v from_o the_o world_n and_o from_o the_o temptation_n and_o bad_a example_n thereof_o do_v not_o say_v what_o shall_v we_o be_v wise_a than_o our_o father_n and_o be_v not_o moderation_n best_o in_o all_o thing_n but_o consider_v what_o the_o apostle_n say_v follow_v still_o after_o it_o even_o unto_o perfection_n and_o his_o word_n do_v intimate_v the_o reason_n of_o it_o without_o which_o no_o man_n shall_v see_v the_o lord_n for_o what_o be_v holiness_n in_o its_o own_o nature_n it_o be_v that_o which_o give_v god_n his_o due_a as_o righteousness_n give_v man_n his_o due_n and_o this_o be_v a_o main_a ground_n why_o we_o be_v so_o slow_a in_o work_n of_o holiness_n for_o be_v they_o of_o another_o nature_n and_o do_v they_o serve_v our_o turn_n more_o as_o we_o think_v we_o shall_v not_o then_o account_v they_o tedious_a if_o i_o be_v to_o sit_v and_o
