So must the Son of man be lifted up that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have â—â—ernal life For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believed in him should not perish but have everlasting life c. He who believeth on the Son hath everlasting life c. John 3. 14 15 16 17 36. Ye will not come unto me that ye may have life John 5. 40. The bread of God is he who cometh down from heaven and giveth life unto the world c. I am the bread of life c. This is the will of him who sent me That every one who seeth the Son and believeth on him may have everlasting life and I will raise him up at the last day c. This is the bread which came down from heaven that a man may eat thereof and not die I am the living bread which came down from heaven if any man eat of this bread he shall live for ever and the bread that I will give is my flesh which I will give for the life of the world c. The gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation unto every one who believeth c. Making mention of you in my prayers That the God of our Lord Jesus c. may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him the eyes of your understanding being enlightned that ye may know what is the hope of his calling c. To make them Fruitful or Enable them to subdue Sin profit in Grace and Activity for God THen rose up the chief of the fathers c. whose spirit God had raised
to go into Bithinia but the spirit suffered them not Acts 16. 6. 7. Paul came to Ephesus and finding certain Disciples he said unto them Have ye received the holy Ghost since ye believed and they said unto him We have not so much as heard whether there be any holy Ghost c. and when Paul laid his hands upon them the holy Ghost came on them and they spake with tongues and prophesied Acts. 19. 1 2 6. The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the holy Ghost who is given unto us Rom. 5. 5. That ye abound in hope through the power of the holy Ghost Rom. 15. 13. Christ c. being put to death in the flesh but quickened by the spirit 1 Pet. 3. 18. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ happy are ye for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you c. 1 Pet. 4. 14. He hath given us great and precious promises that by these ye might be made partakers of the divine nature c. Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the holy Ghost 2 Pet. 1. 4 21. The Nature Workings and Fruits of the Spirit AND the spirit of God moved upon the waters Gen. 1. 2. And the Lord said My spirit shall not always strive with man Gen. 6. 3. Is the spirit of the Lord straitned or shortned are these his doings Micah 2. 7. Handle me and see me for a spirit hath not flesh and bones as ye see me to have Luke 24. 39. I saw the spirit descending from heaven like a dove and it abode upon him John 1. 32. He would have given thee living water c. water springing up into eternal life John 4. 10 14. When he is come he will convince the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment John 16. 8. They were not able to resist c. and the spirit by which he spake Acts 16. 10. The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the holy Ghost Rom. 5. 5. We have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear but the spirit of adoption by which we cry c. The spirit it self beareth witness with our spirits that we are the children of God Rom. 8. 15 16. Fervent in the spirit serving the Lord Rom. 12. 11. The Lord thy God led thee these forty years to humble thee and to prove thee to know what was in thine heart whether thou wouldst keep his commandments or no Deut. 8. 2 16. I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died that through them I may prove Israel whether they will keep the way of the Lord c. or not Judges 2. 21 22 23 ch 3. 4. In the business of the Ambassadours God left Hezekiah to try him that he might know all that was in his heart c. 2 Chron. 32. 31. What is man c. that thou shouldst visit him every morning and try him every moment Job 7. 17 18. God hath given unto us the ministry of reconciliation c. We are ambassadors for Christ as though God c. 2 Cor. 5. 11 14 18 19 20. Giving no offence in any thing that the ministry be not blamed but in all things approving our selves as the ministers of God in much patience in afflictions in necessities and distresses c. by pureness by knowledge c. 2 Cor. 6. 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. We have wronged no man we have corrupted no man we have defrauded no man c. though I made you sorry I do not repent c. I do rejoice not that you were made sorry but that ye sorrowed to repentance c. that ye might receive damage by us in nothing 2 Cor. 7. 2 8 9 10. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God c. 2 Cor. 10. 4 5. Paul being forced to it for the Gospels sake justifies and commends himself 2 Cor. 11. ch 12. I will not be burdensom to you I seek not yours but you for the children c. and I will very gladly spend and be spent for you though c. we do all things for your edifying dearly beloved for I fear c. lest when I come again my God will humble me among you and that I shall bewail many who have sinned and have not repented 2 Cor. 12. 14 15 17 19 20 21. We can do nothing against the truth but for the truth c. I should use sharpness according to the power which the Lord hath given me to your edification c. 2 Cor. 13. 8 9 10. Do seek to please men for if I yet pleased men I should not be the servant of Christ c. Gal. 1. 10 c. Paul blamed Peter for dissembling openly Gal. 2. 11 12 13 14. Paul had a holy jealousie of the Galatians and after he had written largely to them about their turning back to the law he saith Ye observe days and months and years I am afraid of you left I have bestowed labour in vain Gal. 3. ch â— 10 11. When he ascended up on high c. he gave gifts unto mem c. and he gave some Apostles and some Prophets and some Evangelists and some Pastours and Teachers for the perfecting of the Saints c. for the work of the ministry c.

We preach to you that ye should turn from these vanities to the living God Acts 14. 15. And the times of this ignorance God winked at but now commandeth all men every where to to repent Acts 17. 30.
