and_o fail_v often_o in_o the_o obedience_n of_o the_o word_n he_o may_v often_o hear_v the_o word_n yet_o will_v not_o obey_v it_o in_o any_o point_n which_o cross_v his_o pleasure_n as_o some_o sick_a patient_n be_v content_a that_o the_o physician_n prescribe_v they_o a_o diet_n and_o sometime_o ask_v he_o a_o question_n whether_o such_o meat_n be_v good_a for_o they_o or_o no_o though_o the_o physician_n who_o best_o know_v what_o be_v hurtful_a for_o he_o do_v forbid_v they_o some_o kind_n of_o meat_n yet_o have_v they_o so_o strong_a a_o appetite_n to_o some_o of_o those_o meat_n as_o for_o all_o his_o direction_n they_o will_v not_o forgo_v they_o but_o only_o will_v have_v be_v glad_a if_o he_o will_v allow_v they_o so_o man_n come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o there_o by_o to_o learn_v what_o be_v good_a and_o ill_a for_o the_o health_n of_o their_o soul_n though_o the_o preacher_n give_v they_o good_a direction_n yet_o so_o earnest_a be_v their_o desire_n of_o pleasure_n that_o they_o will_v take_v their_o delight_n in_o those_o
no_o further_o than_o thy_o ear_n or_o head_n it_o be_v easy_o take_v from_o thou_o but_o if_o it_o descend_v to_o the_o bottom_n of_o thy_o heart_n it_o may_v there_o be_v safe_o keep_v it_o be_v a_o the_o word_n with_o their_o heart_n than_o those_o who_o bring_v their_o body_n to_o the_o church_n and_o leave_v their_o heart_n at_o home_n who_o draw_v near_o to_o god_n with_o their_o lip_n and_o with_o their_o ear_n when_o their_o heart_n be_v far_o from_o he_o can_v be_v good_a hearer_n if_o thou_o will_v be_v of_o that_o number_n prepare_v thy_o heart_n before_o hand_n and_o while_o thou_o hear_v let_v not_o thy_o heart_n be_v think_v on_o any_o by-matter_n but_o only_o attend_v to_o that_o hear_v with_o thy_o heart_n as_o well_o as_o with_o thy_o ear_n and_o then_o shall_v thou_o be_v bless_v by_o thy_o hear_n 2._o again_o note_v hence_o more_o special_o the_o quality_n and_o disposition_n of_o their_o heart_n who_o hear_v profitable_o they_o hear_v with_o a_o hone_a and_o good_a hereby_o be_v signify_v that_o the_o heart_n of_o these_o hearer_n be_v good_a each_o way_n both_o outward_o before_o man_n manifest_v itself_o to_o be_v good_a by_o open_a profession_n by_o abundance_n of_o fruit_n and_o by_o constant_a perseverance_n and_o also_o inward_o in_o itself_o and_o before_o god_n by_o a_o sincere_a sanctification_n and_o holy_a disposition_n and_o so_o their_o heart_n differ_v from_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o former_a hearer_n for_o though_o they_o in_o receyve_v the_o worde_n with_o joy_n in_o believe_v it_o and_o bring_v forth_o some_o fruit_n of_o it_o do_v make_v some_o fair_a show_n and_o give_v some_o outward_a sign_n of_o a_o good_a hearâ—_n yet_o their_o heart_n be_v not_o effectual_o sanctify_v within_o and_o they_o make_v those_o fair_a show_n but_o for_o a_o time_n afterward_o they_o revolt_a in_o time_n of_o tentation_n or_o fail_v in_o their_o fruit_n through_o worldly_a care_n and_o voluptuousness_n bewray_v the_o filthiness_n of_o their_o heart_n those_o than_o that_o will_v be_v good_a hearer_n must_v have_v good_a heart_n both_o way_n both_o inward_o in_o their_o own_o nature_n and_o inclination_n as_o also_o outward_o before_o man_n by_o the_o fruit_n and_o testimony_n as_o be_v the_o heart_n so_o will_v the_o hear_n be_v good_a meâ—te_n will_v not_o nourish_v that_o man_n body_n who_o have_v a_o bad_a stomach_n that_o can_v well_o digest_v it_o before_o it_o be_v send_v to_o other_o part_n but_o either_o leave_v it_o â—â—we_v or_o turn_v it_o to_o gross_a humour_n no_o more_o can_v sound_v doctrine_n
