with_o many_o choice_a blessing_n when_o he_o return_v will_v clear_v this_o hosea_n 9_o 12._o yea_o and_o woe_n also_o unto_o they_o when_o i_o depart_v from_o they_o he_o have_v speak_v of_o many_o see_v prelate_n mytre_n upon_o his_o own_o head_n and_o their_o syd_v robe_n upon_o he_o and_o some_o bear_n up_o his_o tail_n no_o ground_n in_o the_o bible_n for_o this_o yet_o it_o be_v do_v let_v this_o neither_o he_o look_v upon_o as_o matter_n of_o laughter_n to_o stranger_n nor_o of_o affrightment_n to_o friend_n be_v necessity_n constrain_v we_o to_o speak_v of_o these_o thing_n unto_o you_o now_o may_v not_o all_o this_o give_v sad_a ground_n of_o fear_n that_o the_o lord_n will_v go_v away_o and_o leave_v we_o see_v such_o abomination_n be_v set_v up_o among_o we_o use_v 2._o now_o we_o will_v in_o the_o next_o place_n desire_v you_o that_o be_v the_o people_n of_o god_n to_o encourage_v yourselves_o in_o he_o you_o see_v as_o we_o have_v clear_v that_o the_o assurance_n of_o christ_n return_n be_v the_o choice_n &_o only_o sufficient_a cordial_a against_o the_o heart_n faint_n of_o the_o sorrowful_a soul_n of_o his_o people_n at_o his_o departure_n o_o therefore_o make_v use_n of_o this_o cordial_n against_o the_o present_a distress_n and_o faint_n of_o your_o heart_n in_o this_o hour_n of_o affliction_n because_o of_o christ_n departure_n this_o be_v your_o present_a condition_n your_o heart_n be_v sorrowful_a because_o your_o dear_a lord_n be_v now_o short_o to_o be_v take_v from_o you_o but_o let_v this_o hold_v up_o your_o heart_n he_o will_v see_v we_o again_o therefore_o we_o say_v make_v use_n of_o this_o cordial_n for_o you_o that_o be_v his_o people_n have_v no_o less_o to_o hold_v up_o your_o faint_a discoveraged_a heart_n then_o his_o disciple_n get_v and_o that_o be_v the_o assurance_n of_o his_o return_n he_o will_v visit_v our_o land_n and_o so_o see_v we_o again_o object_n but_o some_o of_o the_o lord_n affright_v trembling-hearted_n people_n will_v here_o object_v alas_o that_o be_v the_o great_a thing_n in_o question_n and_o you_o have_v speak_v so_o much_o of_o his_o go_v away_o that_o we_o can_v hardly_o think_v he_o will_v return_v to_o we_o again_o and_o beside_o all_o he_o have_v not_o tie_v himself_o to_o any_o particular_a church_n and_o therefore_o no_o particular_a church_n can_v apply_v this_o promise_n to_o themselves_o and_o so_o what_o ground_n have_v scotland_n to_o apply_v this_o promise_n as_o a_o present_a cordial_a use_v 2._o though_o we_o have_v speak_v much_o of_o his_o go_n yet_o we_o have_v not_o say_v that_o he_o will_v not_o come_v again_o and_o we_o speak_v to_o something_n the_o last_o day_n for_o make_v it_o appear_v that_o he_o will_v come_v again_o as_o first_o our_o faithful_a reformer_n mr._n welsh_n mr._n wishart_n mr._n knox_n mr._n hamilton_n etc._n etc._n other_o assert_v that_o how_o be_v it_o christ_n shall_v be_v crucify_v in_o scotland_n yet_o glorious_a shall_v his_o resurrection_n be_v and_o may_v we_o not_o make_v use_n of_o this_o as_o a_o cordial_a against_o our_o present_a heart-fainting_n 2._o there_o be_v very_o many_o precious_a young_a man_n student_n of_o divinity_n who_o the_o lord_n have_v fit_v as_o polish_a shaft_n for_o the_o work_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o of_o who_o he_o have_v never_o as_o yet_o make_v use_v therein_o and_o shall_v we_o think_v that_o he_o will_v now_o lay_v they_o by_o and_o not_o employ_v they_o in_o his_o service_n have_v be_v at_o great_a pain_n to_o fit_v they_o for_o the_o same_o 3._o a_o faithful_a service_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n who_o have_v this_o testimony_n that_o he_o fear_v god_n do_v late_o among_o we_o before_o many_o thousand_o witness_n at_o his_o death_n open_o declare_v his_o confidence_n as_o to_o this_o that_o how_o be_v it_o our_o cloud_n may_v be_v long_o and_o dark_a yet_o the_o lord_n shall_v shine_v once_o more_o with_o the_o glorious_a light_n of_o say_v now_o unto_o you_o that_o the_o lord_n have_v never_o more_o precious_a people_n in_o scotland_n than_o he_o have_v now_o though_o there_o be_v many_o hypocrite_n neither_o have_v ever_o have_v so_o many_o faithful_a minister_n in_o a_o suffer_a time_n for_o serve_v in_o the_o work_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o now_o he_o have_v though_o there_o be_v also_o many_o that_o be_v unfaithful_a and_o we_o must_v think_v he_o will_v not_o lay_v they_o altogether_o bias_n useless_a but_o rather_o that_o he_o have_v work_n for_o they_o and_o therefore_o we_o may_v take_v this_o as_o a_o ground_n of_o encouragement_n to_o confirm_v our_o hope_n of_o his_o see_v we_o again_o object_n 2_o but_o the_o lord_n do_v cast_v of_o the_o seven_o church_n of_o asia_n when_o in_o a_o very_a flourish_a condition_n and_o do_v never_o visit_v they_o again_o with_o the_o gospel_n and_o why_o then_o may_v he_o not_o also_o go_v away_o from_o we_o and_o never_o return_v nor_o see_v we_o again_o ans_fw-fr there_o be_v never_o such_o a_o formal_a marriage_n contract_v pass_v betwixt_o god_n and_o the_o seven_o church_n of_o asia_n in_o their_o most_o flourish_a condition_n as_o heath_n pass_v
wife_n which_o be_v indeed_o the_o thing_n they_o aim_v at_o for_z though_o they_o say_v it_o be_v with_o something_o in_o the_o contract_n they_o be_v dissatisfy_v as_o not_o draw_v up_o according_a to_o their_o mind_n yet_o indeed_o it_o be_v with_o the_o marriage_n that_o they_o be_v displease_v for_o their_o butt_n holiness_n whereunto_o the_o marriage_n contract_n oblige_v and_o so_o the_o storm_n shall_v take_v his_o possession_n from_o he_o nor_o be_v able_a to_o keep_v he_o away_o from_o his_o marry_a church_n but_o in_o spite_n of_o all_o impediment_n he_o shall_v see_v we_o again_o that_o before_o the_o lord_n enter_v his_o people_n into_o a_o hot_a furnace_n of_o affliction_n he_o use_v to_o send_v they_o a_o comfortable_a word_n for_o encourage_v their_o heart_n in_o order_n to_o thoron-bearing_a and_o a_o bless_a out-gate_n we_o see_v it_o clear_a in_o the_o word_n ere_o they_o meet_v with_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o furnace_n he_o telll_v he_o will_v see_v they_o again_o and_o their_o heart_n shall_v rejoice_v this_o be_v clear_a also_o from_o divers_a other_o scripture_n before_o the_o church_n go_v into_o captivity_n he_o tell_v they_o that_o at_o the_o end_n of_o 70_o year_n they_o shall_v teturn_v again_o and_o before_o his_o honest_a prophet_n meet_v with_o persecution_n from_o enemy_n he_o tell_v he_o that_o he_o have_v make_v he_o a_o iron_n pillar_n and_o such_o as_o they_o never_o see_v since_o a_o nation_n and_o yet_o tell_v they_o at_o that_o none_o such_o ill_a time_n deliverance_n shall_v come_v and_o bless_a shall_v they_o be_v that_o shall_v see_v the_o complete_a delivery_n so_o you_o see_v the_o point_n clear_a viz._n that_o the_o lord_n use_v to_o comfort_v his_o people_n ere_o he_o enter_v they_o into_o a_o hot_a furnace_n of_o affliction_n or_o persecution_n for_o his_o name_n many_o reason_n may_v be_v give_v why_o the_o lord_n do_v thus_o comfort_v his_o people_n ere_o they_o enter_v into_o a_o hot_a furnace_n for_o his_o sake_n but_o we_o shall_v not_o touch_v they_o here_o but_o shall_v bring_v they_o in_o with_o some_o of_o the_o use_n for_o the_o save_n of_o time_n use_v 1_o this_o let_v we_o see_v what_o the_o bless_a and_o tender_a disposition_n of_o christ_n heart_n be_v who_o before_o he_o enter_v his_o people_n in_o the_o heat_n of_o a_o furnace_n will_v give_v they_o something_o to_o refresh_v and_o bear_v up_o their_o heart_n while_n in_o it_o use_v 2._o second_o it_o let_v we_o see_v that_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n even_o of_o all_o that_o bear_v his_o name_n before_o his_o people_n to_o comfort_v they_o when_o they_o be_v like_a to_o meet_v with_o a_o stormy_a trial_n for_o his_o sake_n they_o shall_v imitate_v their_o lord_n and_o his_o apostle_n who_o comfort_v the_o church_n in_o a_o day_n of_o trial_n in_o the_o hope_n of_o a_o gracious_a out-gate_n therefore_o let_v we_o exhort_v so_o many_o of_o you_o as_o be_v here_o who_o the_o lord_n call_v to_o speak_v from_o his_o word_n unto_o his_o people_n not_o only_o minister_n who_o have_v this_o great_a work_n lie_v on_o they_o but_o also_o young_a man_n who_o must_v be_v faithful_a in_o the_o little_a if_o so_o we_o may_v call_v it_o labour_v to_o imitate_v your_o bless_a master_n in_o this_o see_v you_o a_o dark_a cloud_n come_v upon_o the_o church_n and_o people_n of_o god_n o_o then_o comfort_v they_o against_o the_o present_a distress_n tell_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v get_v a_o bless_a out-gate_n and_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o bless_a light_n after_o the_o present_a darkness_n and_o i_o shall_v give_v you_o a_o few_o reason_n by_o way_n of_o motive_n for_o encourage_v you_o to_o comfort_v the_o people_n of_o god_n to_o who_o he_o send_v you_o to_o speak_v in_o his_o name_n 1._o motive_n first_o comfort_v the_o people_n of_o god_n for_o it_o be_v your_o duty_n upon_o any_o hazard_n whatsoever_o isa_n 3._o 1â—_n say_v you_o to_o the_o
righteous_a it_o shall_v be_v well_o with_o he_o etc._n etc._n i_o command_v you_o speak_v comfortable_o to_o they_o though_o it_o shall_v cost_v you_o never_o so_o dear_a and_o may_v not_o this_o persuade_v you_o to_o it_o see_v it_o be_v his_o command_n therefore_o set_v about_o it_o 2_o motive_n you_o run_v a_o great_a hazard_n if_o you_o comfort_v they_o not_o ezek._n 3._o 17._o thou_o shall_v hear_v the_o word_n at_o my_o mouth_n and_o give_v they_o warning_n from_o i_o when_o i_o say_v to_o the_o wicked_a thou_o shall_v die_v say_v thou_o so_o and_o sure_o speak_v free_o against_o comfort_v the_o godly_a but_o if_o you_o do_v it_o not_o their_o blood_n will_v i_o require_v at_o your_o hand_n 3_o mot._n comfort_v the_o people_n of_o god_n against_o the_o storm_n and_o you_o shall_v imitate_v your_o bless_a master_n who_o comfort_v his_o disciple_n when_o go_v away_o with_o this_o i_o will_v see_v you_o again_o 4_o mot._n if_o you_o do_v not_o comfort_v the_o people_n of_o god_n ere_o they_o enter_v in_o the_o furnace_n it_o will_v be_v more_o difficult_a to_o get_v comfort_n bear_v in_o upon_o they_o when_o their_o heart_n be_v down_o and_o they_o in_o the_o heat_n and_o bitterness_n of_o their_o affliction_n their_o present_a sorrow_n will_v not_o let_v they_o admit_v of_o comfort_n christ_n know_v this_o well_o for_o he_o say_v let_v these_o say_n sink_v down_o into_o your_o heart_n ground_n your_o comfort_n well_o now_o else_o you_o will_v be_v very_o incapable_a of_o hear_v comfort_n when_o i_o be_o take_v from_o you_o and_o slay_v and_o in_o the_o text_n he_o comfort_v they_o because_o he_o know_v they_o will_v not_o hear_v of_o comfort_n in_o the_o furnace_n and_o may_v not_o this_o stir_v you_o up_o to_o this_o duty_n of_o comfort_v the_o lord_n people_n now_o ere_o they_o enter_v the_o furnace_n that_o it_o will_v be_v a_o hard_a work_n to_o get_v they_o comfort_v when_o in_o the_o hot_a furnace_n of_o affliction_n 5_o mot._n comfort_v the_o people_n of_o god_n ere_o they_o enter_v to_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o furnace_n for_o you_o know_v not_o if_o you_o shall_v be_v near_o unto_o they_o when_o they_o shall_v have_v most_o need_v of_o comfort_n from_o you_o if_o a_o persecution_n for_o christ_n do_v send_v away_o faithful_a minister_n and_o their_o people_n into_o one_o shlp_n when_o banish_v or_o to_o thrust_v they_o into_o one_o prison_n together_o you_o may_v suspend_v your_o comfort_v they_o till_o you_o be_v send_v into_o banishment_n or_o prison_n together_o but_o the_o nature_n of_o a_o persecution_n for_o christ_n be_v to_o smite_v the_o shepherd_n and_o to_o scatter_v the_o flock_n he_o be_v either_o thrust_v into_o prison_n or_o banish_v out_o of_o the_o land_n or_o out_o of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o flock_n be_v scatter_v so_o that_o he_o can_v have_v opportunity_n to_o speak_v comfortable_o unto_o they_o and_o what_o trouble_n may_v he_o have_v in_o that_o case_n if_o he_o hear_v of_o any_o thing_n fall_v wrong_a in_o they_o if_o they_o faint_v in_o the_o furnance_n his_o heart_n must_v challenge_v he_o for_o not_o comfort_v and_o strengthen_v they_o when_o he_o have_v opportunity_n and_o may_v not_o this_o encourage_v you_o to_o your_o duty_n o_o therefore_o to_o your_o work_n while_o you_o have_v opportunity_n 6_o mot._n o_o comfort_n the_o people_n of_o god_n and_o strengthen_v they_o for_o the_o storm_n and_o you_o shall_v have_v great_a peace_n when_o take_v from_o they_o christ_n have_v this_o to_o say_v john_n 17._o that_o he_o have_v give_v they_o his_o father_n word_n and_o this_o be_v paul_n great_a encouragement_n in_o his_o last_o discourse_n at_o miletus_n act_v 20._o 26._o that_o he_o have_v tell_v they_o the_o whole_a counsel_n of_o god_n and_o so_o be_v free_a from_o the_o blood_n of_o all_o man_n o_o how_o great_a a_o encouragement_n be_v this_o when_o a_o godly_a minister_n be_v thrust_v from_o his_o charge_n or_o be_v a_o die_a if_o he_o can_v say_v now_o i_o be_o put_v away_o from_o my_o work_n but_o bless_v be_v god_n i_o never_o withhold_v any_o thing_n from_o they_o may_v tend_v to_o their_o encouragement_n or_o edification_n there_o be_v not_o one_o sentence_n in_o my_o mind_n that_o ever_o i_o refuse_v to_o speak_v nor_o be_v there_o one_o text_n of_o scripture_n in_o my_o mind_n that_o the_o lord_n bid_v i_o to_o preach_v from_o unto_o they_o tend_v to_o their_o instruction_n or_o encouragement_n that_o ever_o i_o refuse_v to_o preach_v from_o upon_o the_o great_a hazard_n and_o therefore_o i_o have_v no_o more_o ado_n for_o my_o work_n be_v end_v with_o my_o opportunity_n as_o i_o be_o to_o have_v no_o more_o liberty_n to_o labour_n among_o they_o so_o also_o i_o have_v no_o more_o work_n to_o do_v i_o labour_v while_o i_o have_v opportunity_n and_o so_o now_o my_o work_n and_o opportunity_n be_v end_v at_o once_o o_o how_o great_a peace_n may_v this_o give_v and_o may_v not_o this_o encourage_v you_o to_o comfort_v the_o people_n of_o god_n ere_o they_o enter_v the_o heat_n of_o the_o furnace_n 7._o mot._n there_o shall_v not_o a_o hair_n of_o your_o head_n perish_v for_o your_o faithfulness_n they_o be_v all_o number_v and_o your_o time_n be_v in_o god_n hand_n rev._n 11._o the_o two_o witness_n can_v be_v kill_v nor_o put_v from_o their_o work_n till_o they_o have_v finish_v their_o testitmony_n and_o prophesy_v unto_o the_o end_n of_o the_o day_n appoint_v they_o of_o god_n you_o can_v neither_o be_v slay_v nor_o put_v from_o your_o work_n as_o long_o as_o blast_v though_o all_o the_o world_n shall_v oppose_v you_o therefore_o with_o all_o peace_n and_o safety_n you_o may_v go_v about_o your_o work_n of_o comfort_v the_o godly_a as_o be_v in_o his_o till_o after_o the_o storm_n yet_o he_o will_v they_o to_o draw_v encouragement_n from_o it_o for_o bear_v up_o their_o faint_a and_o discourage_v heart_n it_o be_v also_o david_n practicn_n psal_n 27._o i_o have_v faint_v unless_o i_o have_v believe_v to_o see_v the_o goodness_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o the_o land_n of_o the_o live_n it_o be_v but_o a_o far_o of_o look_n of_o comfort_n my_o faith_n get_v all_o that_o i_o can_v come_v at_o be_v the_o hope_n of_o see_v his_o goodness_n in_o the_o land_n of_o the_o live_n once_o ever_o i_o shall_v go_v off_o this_o world_n yet_o though_o be_v for_o this_o very_a end_n that_o christ_n send_v it_o o_o therefore_o make_v it_o practical_a when_o god_n send_v a_o word_n of_o consolation_n unto_o you_o close_o with_o it_o for_o your_o comfort_n it_o be_v your_o duty_n so_o to_o do_v especial_o when_o it_o it_o be_v convey_v to_o you_o with_o danger_n &_o hazard_n and_o so_o i_o shall_v say_v no_o more_o unto_o you_o but_o leave_v it_o on_o you_o for_o you_o will_v have_v enough_o to_o do_v with_o all_o your_o comfort_n far_o off_o or_o near_o to_o you_o when_o you_o meet_v with_o the_o storm_n therefore_o let_v not_o a_o
