grace_n be_v infuse_v into_o all_o our_o power_n and_o faculty_n they_o make_v war_n against_o our_o carnal_a corruption_n and_o fleshly_a lust_n but_o the_o conflict_n which_o be_v in_o the_o unregenerate_a arise_v from_o the_o relic_n of_o god_n image_n deface_v in_o we_o oppose_v the_o image_n of_o satan_n and_o our_o fleshly_a corruption_n for_o the_o mind_n retain_v some_o small_a spark_n of_o the_o light_n of_o knowledge_n which_o may_v be_v improve_v by_o study_v the_o book_n of_o the_o creature_n but_o much_o more_o by_o study_v the_o book_n of_o god_n word_n whereby_o the_o mind_n of_o a_o mere_a carnal_a man_n may_v be_v so_o enlighten_v as_o to_o be_v able_a to_o distinguish_v between_o good_a and_o evil_a truth_n and_o error_n right_a and_o wrong_n and_o hereby_o the_o conscience_n also_o be_v direct_v it_o retain_v a_o power_n to_o excuse_v when_o we_o do_v well_o and_o to_o accuse_v terrify_v and_o condemn_v when_o we_o do_v evil_a rom._n 2.15_o the_o will_v which_o be_v confer_v more_o large_o upon_o some_o then_o upon_o other_o but_o there_o be_v mingle_v in_o all_o these_o faculty_n abundance_n of_o corruption_n also_o and_o many_o of_o they_o in_o the_o special_a kind_n one_o contrary_a to_o another_o hence_o arise_v this_o war_n between_o they_o like_a thief_n who_o all_o agree_v together_o to_o rob_v a_o true_a man_n but_o fall_v out_o among_o themselves_o when_o they_o come_v to_o divide_v the_o spoil_n thus_o the_o understanding_n enlighten_v by_o nature_n or_o common_a grace_n discern_v in_o particular_a action_n what_o be_v we_o and_o make_v we_o resolute_a in_o assault_v this_o enemy_n second_o a_o right_a use_n of_o certain_a mean_n which_o may_v enable_v we_o to_o overcome_v quest._n what_o be_v the_o reason_n which_o may_v encourage_v we_o to_o set_v upon_o this_o enemy_n the_o flesh_n answ._n first_o because_o its_o the_o will_n of_o our_o great_a captain_n the_o lord_n of_o host_n that_o we_o shall_v encounter_v tyrannize_v over_o we_o and_o enthrall_v both_o our_o soul_n and_o body_n in_o a_o wretched_a bondage_n and_o we_o have_v better_o with_o the_o prodigal_n feed_v with_o filthy_a swine_n then_o to_o become_v slave_n to_o these_o sensual_a and_o more_o filthy_a lust_n now_o how_o unworthy_a be_v this_o our_o be_v and_o breed_v who_o by_o our_o creation_n be_v son_n and_o child_n of_o god_n to_o yield_v ourselves_o slave_n to_o such_o cruel_a master_n who_o will_v make_v we_o employ_v our_o body_n and_o mind_n which_o be_v create_v for_o god_n service_n in_o the_o miserable_a bondage_n of_o sin_n and_o satan_n but_o beside_o the_o hatefulness_n of_o the_o flesh_n for_o its_o cruel_a tyranny_n it_o be_v more_o odious_a for_o its_o pollution_n and_o filthiness_n for_o there_o be_v no_o filthy_a sink_n or_o stink_a carrion_n to_o be_v compare_v to_o it_o three_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o manifold_a evil_n which_o be_v do_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o flesh_n shall_v excite_v we_o
