all_o my_o hope_n all_o the_o assurance_n of_o my_o trust_n be_v settle_v in_o his_o precious_a blood_n which_o be_v shed_v for_o we_o and_o for_o our_o salvation_n in_o he_o my_o poor_a heart_n take_v breath_n and_o put_v my_o whole_a trust_n in_o he_o i_o long_o to_o come_v unto_o thou_o oh_o father_n not_o have_v my_o own_o righteousness_n but_o you_o ryghtuousene_n of_o thy_o son_n jesus_n christ_n in_o these_o two_o place_n saint_n austin_n show_v plain_o that_o the_o christian_n must_v not_o be_v afraid_a but_o assure_v himself_o of_o righteousness_n by_o grownd_v himself_o not_o upon_o his_o own_o work_n but_o upon_o the_o precious_a blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n which_o cleanse_v we_o from_o all_o our_o sin_n and_o make_v our_o peace_n with_o god_n saint_n barnard_n in_o his_o first_o sermon_n upon_o the_o annunciation_n say_v most_o evident_o bernard_n that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o believe_v that_o a_o man_n can_v have_v forgiveness_n of_o his_o sin_n free_o but_o by_o god_n mercy_n nor_o any_o one_o good_a desire_n or_o ability_n to_o do_v so_o much_o as_o one_o good_a work_n except_o god_n give_v it_o he_o no_o nor_o that_o a_o man_n can_v deserve_v eternal_a life_n by_o his_o work_n but_o if_o god_o give_v he_o the_o gift_n so_o to_o believe_v but_o besides_o all_o these_o thing_n say_v saint_n bernard_n which_o ought_v rather_o to_o be_v count_v a_o certain_a entrance_n and_o foundation_n of_o our_o faith_n it_o be_v needful_a that_o thou_o believe_v also_o free_o that_o thy_o sin_n be_v forgive_v thou_o for_o the_o love_n of_o jesus_n christ_n see_v how_o this_o holy_a man_n confess_v that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o believe_v general_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n but_o he_o must_v also_o believe_v particular_o that_o his_o own_o sin_n be_v forgive_v he_o by_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v ready_a at_o hand_n namely_o that_o forasmuch_o as_o god_n have_v promise_v thou_o to_o accept_v thou_o for_o righteous_a through_o the_o merit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n if_o thou_o believe_v not_o that_o thou_o be_v become_v righteous_a through_o he_o thou_o make_v god_o a_o liar_n and_o consequent_o thou_o make_v thyself_o unworthy_a of_o his_o grace_n and_o liberality_n but_o thou_o will_v say_v to_o i_o i_o believe_v well_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n and_o i_o know_v that_o god_n be_v true_a but_o i_o be_o afraid_a that_o i_o be_o not_o worshie_a to_o have_v so_o great_a a_o gift_n i_o answer_v that_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o thy_o sin_n shall_v not_o be_v a_o gift_n or_o free_a grace_n but_o a_o wage_n if_o god_n shall_v give_v it_o thou_o for_o the_o worthiness_n of_o thy_o work_n but_o i_o reply_v upon_o thou_o that_o god_n accept_v thou_o for_o righteous_a and_o lay_v not_o thy_o sin_n too_o thy_o charge_n because_o of_o christ_n merit_n which_o be_v give_v unto_o thou_o and_o become_v thy_o by_o faith_n therefore_o follow_v the_o council_n of_o saint_n bernard_n believe_v thou_o not_o only_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n in_o general_a but_o also_o apply_v the_o same_o belief_n to_o thine_o own_o particular_a person_n by_o beleve_v without_o any_o doubt_n
