when_o he_o present_v they_o to_o we_o that_o draw_v the_o heart_n from_o mind_v other_o thing_n to_o seek_v after_o christ_n to_o long_o after_o he_o and_o not_o to_o content_v yourselves_o till_o you_o be_v unite_v to_o he_o but_o beside_o this_o there_o be_v a_o three_o act_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n we_o by_o which_o he_o work_v it_o and_o make_v this_o faith_n effectual_a and_o that_o be_v the_o testimony_n that_o the_o spirit_n give_v to_o our_o spirit_n tell_v we_o that_o these_o thing_n be_v we_o when_o the_o heart_n be_v prepare_v by_o the_o law_n and_o when_o these_o thing_n be_v so_o show_v unto_o we_o that_o we_o prize_v they_o and_o long_o after_o they_o yet_o there_o must_v be_v a_o three_o thing_n that_o be_v to_o take_v they_o to_o ourselves_o to_o believe_v that_o to_o thou_o and_o god_n be_v thy_o father_n when_o the_o spirit_n shall_v bear_v witness_n with_o our_o spirit_n by_o a_o immediate_a work_n of_o his_o own_o than_o we_o shall_v believe_v this_o be_v necessary_o require_v way_n and_o without_o this_o we_o shall_v not_o believe_v it_o be_v true_a the_o holy_a man_n do_v it_o two_o way_n one_o be_v by_o clear_n of_o the_o promise_n promise_n shine_v a_o immediate_a voice_n by_o which_o he_o speak_v immediate_o to_o our_o spirit_n that_o we_o can_v say_v as_o they_o say_v joh._n 16._o 16.29_o now_o thou_o speak_v plain_o and_o speak_v no_o when_o a_o man_n be_v once_o wrought_v upon_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n he_o come_v of_o himself_o but_o that_o phrase_n be_v use_v only_o to_o show_v that_o backwardness_n that_o be_v in_o man_n by_o nature_n for_o when_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v wrought_v upon_o the_o will_n draw_v and_o have_v turn_v that_o than_o a_o man_n come_v upon_o his_o own_o leg_n and_o be_v move_v from_o a_o inward_a principle_n of_o his_o own_o therefore_o man_n be_v so_o draw_v that_o withal_o they_o run_v after_o he_o as_o it_o be_v cant._n 1._o 1.4_o but_o it_o show_v this_o thing_n for_o which_o i_o have_v use_v it_o that_o there_o be_v a_o wondrous_a backwardness_n in_o all_o of_o we_o by_o nature_n and_o that_o this_o must_v be_v do_v by_o a_o great_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n therefore_o the_o apostle_n

have_v that_o that_o can_v be_v express_v for_o with_o he_o thou_o have_v all_o thing_n when_o you_o have_v he_o you_o may_v go_v to_o he_o for_o justification_n and_o say_v lord_n give_v i_o remission_n of_o sin_n i_o have_v christ_n and_o thou_o have_v promise_v that_o all_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n shall_v have_v pardon_n that_o they_o shall_v have_v thy_o spirit_n and_o be_v make_v new_a creature_n now_o lord_n fulfil_v these_o promise_n if_o say_v it_o be_v a_o condition_n beyond_o expression_n next_o to_o that_o we_o shall_v have_v in_o heaven_n and_o far_o above_o that_o which_o any_o prince_n or_o potentate_n in_o the_o world_n have_v far_o beyond_o that_o which_o any_o man_n that_o swim_v in_o pleasure_n and_o abundance_n of_o wealth_n have_v which_o if_o it_o be_v know_v will_v by_o all_o the_o world_n be_v seek_v after_o therefore_o when_o you_o hear_v of_o such_o a_o condition_n offer_v take_v heed_n of_o refuse_v it_o for_o if_o you_o do_v your_o sin_n be_v not_o think_v they_o grievous_a to_o bear_v his_o burden_n and_o think_v it_o light_n to_o take_v his_o yoke_n and_o count_v it_o easy_a to_o give_v all_o they_o have_v for_o he_o and_o to_o think_v all_o too_o little_a to_o suffer_v persecution_n for_o his_o sake_n and_o to_o rejoice_v in_o it_o to_o be_v content_a to_o be_v scoff_v at_o and_o hate_v of_o man_n to_o do_v to_o suffer_v any_o thing_n for_o his_o sake_n and_o when_o all_o this_o be_v do_v to_o regard_v it_o as_o nothing_o to_o reckon_v themselves_o unprofitable_a servant_n to_o account_v of_o all_o as_o not_o worthy_a of_o he_o therefore_o be_v not_o thou_o shy_a in_o take_v of_o he_o for_o you_o have_v free_a liberty_n but_o before_o i_o dismiss_v you_o let_v i_o speak_v a_o word_n to_o you_o that_o be_v not_o yet_o to_o be_v his_o will_n and_o it_o stand_v now_o with_o his_o justice_n as_o well_o as_o with_o his_o mercy_n to_o give_v christ_n his_o word_n be_v a_o corner_n stone_n and_o you_o may_v build_v on_o it_o nay_o by_o 2._o immutable_a thing_n he_o have_v confirm_v it_o his_o word_n and_o his_o oath_n and_o heaven_n and_o earth_n may_v pass_v but_o they_o shall_v not_o pass_v you_o may_v build_v on_o that_o he_o offer_v iâ—_n a_o man_n have_v anacquittance_n although_o the_o debt_n remain_v the_o same_o in_o the_o book_n yet_o there_o can_v no_o more_o be_v require_v at_o the_o hand_n of_o he_o have_v take_v christ_n and_o have_v take_v out_o our_o pardon_n and_o this_o act_n be_v very_o different_a from_o the_o former_a we_o may_v have_v the_o former_a without_o this_o we_o common_o think_v that_o we_o be_v not_o justify_v by_o christ_n unless_o we_o have_v assurance_n of_o it_o and_o when_o we_o look_v for_o that_o and_o find_v it_o not_o present_o all_o our_o hope_n be_v go_v but_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v so_o it_o be_v one_o act_n of_o faith_n to_o take_v christ_n and_o another_o act_n of_o faith_n to_o comfort_n and_o pacify_v the_o heart_n and_o that_o these_o be_v two_o altogether_o lean_v upon_o he_o you_o must_v cast_v yourselves_o whole_o upon_o he_o for_o faith_n have_v such_o a_o attract_v virtue_n in_o it_o that_o it_o fill_v the_o heart_n with_o christ_n now_o it_o can_v fill_v the_o heart_n with_o christ_n unless_o the_o heart_n be_v empty_v first_o therefore_o i_o say_v faith_n have_v a_o double_a quality_n faith_n not_o only_o to_o take_v but_o to_o empty_a and_o they_o be_v reciprocal_a the_o one_o can_v be_v without_o the_o other_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o we_o say_v faith_n ingraft_v a_o man_n a_o man_n can_v be_v ingraft_v into_o a_o new_a his_o sin_n when_o he_o come_v to_o take_v hold_n of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n for_o his_o justification_n if_o he_o think_v that_o there_o be_v any_o little_a worthiness_n in_o he_o or_o that_o there_o be_v no_o fault_n in_o he_o at_o all_o and_o from_o thence_o shall_v think_v that_o god_n will_v receive_v he_o this_o man_n be_v not_o fit_a to_o come_v to_o christ_n he_o must_v be_v whole_o empty_v of_o himself_o and_o then_o god_n will_v speak_v peace_n unto_o he_o quest._n but_o you_o will_v ask_v what_o be_v that_o that_o faith_n do_v empty_a a_o man_n of_o faith_n empty_v a_o to_o make_v a_o man_n poor_a in_o spirit_n that_o so_o he_o may_v be_v fit_a to_o receive_v the_o gospel_n law_n for_o the_o law_n though_o it_o be_v fit_a to_o humble_v a_o man_n yet_o it_o be_v no_o work_n of_o sanctification_n if_o a_o man_n be_v able_a to_o do_v any_o thing_n he_o be_v able_a to_o see_v the_o righteousness_n the_o law_n require_v and_o how_o far_o he_o be_v from_o it_o and_o to_o discern_v the_o curse_n upon_o the_o not_o do_v of_o it_o bondage_n and_o yet_o this_o he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o do_v without_o the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n must_v make_v the_o law_n effectual_a as_o well_o as_o the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n do_v the_o gospel_n that_o be_v except_z the_o lord_n himself_o press_v the_o law_n on_o our_o heart_n so_o as_o to_o cause_v it_o to_o make_v sin_n appear_v to_o we_o we_o that_o be_v the_o minister_n of_o god_n may_v discover_v your_o sin_n we_o may_v show_v you_o the_o rectitude_n require_v in_o the_o law_n we_o may_v show_v you_o the_o danger_n yet_o all_o will_v be_v to_o no_o purpose_n unless_o god_n awaken_v you_o if_o he_o will_v set_v sin_n upon_o the_o conscience_n to_o worry_v a_o man_n to_o its_o sting_n this_o make_v a_o man_n fit_a to_o receive_v christ_n otherwise_o if_o the_o son_n of_o thunder_n shall_v speak_v to_o man_n if_o we_o shall_v come_v in_o the_o spirit_n and_o power_n of_o eliah_n nay_o if_o god_n himself_o shall_v thunder_v from_o heaven_n all_o will_v not_o move_v the_o heart_n of_o a_o man_n all_o will_v not_o awaken_v he_o to_o see_v his_o sin_n till_o god_n to_o show_v these_o thing_n object_n but_o you_o will_v say_v a_o man_n may_v see_v these_o thing_n without_o the_o help_n of_o the_o spirit_n ans._n spirit_n it_o be_v true_a in_o some_o manner_n you_o may_v but_o not_o in_o such_o a_o manner_n as_o shall_v affect_v you_o for_o there_o be_v a_o manner_n of_o see_v proper_a only_o to_o the_o saint_n and_o that_o be_v the_o proper_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o they_o when_o we_o shall_v so_o see_v they_o as_o to_o be_v affect_v with_o they_o otherwise_o you_o may_v read_v the_o scripture_n a_o thousand_o time_n over_o you_o may_v understand_v they_o yet_o you_o shall_v not_o be_v affect_v with_o they_o till_o the_o holy_a ghost_n show_v they_o unto_o you_o this_o be_v the_o secret_a of_o god_n that_o he_o reveal_v to_o those_o who_o he_o mean_v to_o save_v that_o be_v when_o he_o present_v these_o spiritual_a thing_n prepare_v for_o we_o in_o christ_n in_o such_o a_o manner_n as_o that_o we_o shall_v love_v they_o and_o embrace_v they_o when_o we_o shall_v not_o only_o see_v the_o truth_n of_o they_o but_o the_o goodness_n of_o they_o when_o god_n shall_v not_o only_o show_v we_o the_o advantage_n we_o have_v by_o christ_n but_o the_o excellency_n of_o christ_n so_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v in_o love_n with_o his_o person_n as_o well_o as_o to_o be_v ready_a to_o receive_v the_o privilege_n with_o he_o now_o fair_a a_o natural_a disposition_n but_o if_o you_o have_v a_o new_a nature_n and_o be_v become_v new_a creature_n now_o you_o have_v common_a friend_n and_o common_a enemy_n object_n do_v not_o will_v be_v upon_o you_o that_o in_o so_o do_v you_o be_v persecuter_n and_o if_o you_o shall_v say_v 2_o that_o if_o the_o lord_n himself_o live_v among_o we_o if_o jesus_n christ_n be_v here_o i_o love_v the_o world_n whereas_o when_o you_o love_v the_o lord_n you_o will_v be_v indifferent_a in_o those_o thing_n if_o a_o worldly_a loss_n befall_v you_o you_o will_v grieve_v as_o if_o you_o grieve_v not_o if_o any_o worldly_a advantage_n happen_v you_o will_v enjoy_v it_o as_o if_o you_o enjoy_v it_o not_o a_o man_n will_v be_v thus_o affect_v if_o i_o have_v god_n sure_a i_o reckon_v he_o only_o my_o portion_n all_o other_o thing_n be_v by_o accident_n he_o only_o be_v essential_a to_o my_o happiness_n we_o do_v not_o deny_v that_o a_o man_n may_v grieve_v upon_o such_o occasion_n
