convince_v any_o honest_a mind_n and_o this_o patience_n humility_n and_o teachableness_n be_v in_o their_o own_o power_n to_o have_v exercise_v if_o they_o will_v so_o that_o they_o be_v ignorant_a say_v their_o own_o fault_n it_o can_v not_o whole_o excuse_v yet_o be_v it_o fit_a to_o lessen_v and_o mitigate_v their_o crime_n and_o to_o abate_v their_o punishment_n their_o account_n shall_v be_v less_o by_o reason_n of_o their_o ignorance_n and_o the_o sinful_a action_n be_v commit_v with_o a_o honest_a heart_n through_o a_o misguide_a understanding_n be_v much_o more_o prepare_v for_o which_o we_o sue_v for_o obtain_v although_o sometime_o our_o prayer_n be_v less_o attent_a and_o less_o affectionate_a than_o at_o other_o time_n they_o be_v and_o we_o at_o all_o time_n great_o desire_v they_o may_v be_v for_o our_o fixedness_n and_o fervency_n be_v not_o the_o only_a thing_n which_o procure_v acceptance_n for_o our_o prayer_n they_o be_v great_a good_a thing_n as_o i_o say_v and_o such_o qualification_n as_o make_v our_o request_n fit_a both_o for_o we_o to_o offer_v and_o for_o god_n to_o hear_v and_o therefore_o we_o must_v take_v care_n still_o when_o we_o pray_v in_o such_o measure_n as_o we_o be_v able_a to_o be_v provide_v with_o they_o but_o although_o they_o be_v some_o yet_o be_v they_o not_o the_o only_a qualification_n of_o our_o prayer_n which_o prevail_v with_o god_n and_o move_v he_o to_o hear_v they_o for_o our_o trust_n and_o dependence_n our_o submission_n and_o resignedness_n and_o other_o spiritual_a virtue_n and_o instance_n of_o desire_n of_o goodness_n that_o acknowledgement_n of_o his_o tenderness_n and_o power_n that_o submission_n to_o his_o authority_n and_o resignation_n to_o his_o pleasure_n which_o be_v all_o imply_v in_o prayer_n and_o fit_o express_v by_o it_o and_o which_o make_v up_o the_o very_a life_n and_o spirit_n of_o it_o these_o i_o say_v it_o be_v which_o god_n look_v at_o in_o our_o prayer_n and_o for_o the_o sake_n whereof_o he_o so_o gracious_o accept_v and_o reward_v they_o but_o now_o as_o for_o all_o these_o they_o be_v express_v every_o whit_n as_o much_o by_o the_o obedience_n of_o our_o life_n as_o by_o the_o prayer_n of_o our_o lip_n nay_o indeed_o much_o more_o in_o as_o much_o as_o our_o action_n be_v a_o more_o perfect_a expression_n and_o certain_a evidence_n of_o all_o these_o speak_v and_o profess_v all_o this_o in_o the_o obedience_n of_o our_o life_n we_o work_v and_o perform_v it_o we_o show_v our_o love_n and_o resignation_n to_o god_n when_o for_o his_o sake_n we_o deny_v ourselves_o and_o give_v up_o our_o own_o will_n in_o obedience_n to_o he_o we_o acknowledge_v his_o power_n and_o authority_n most_o effectual_o when_o we_o obey_v it_o and_o own_o his_o providence_n to_o the_o best_a purpose_n when_o we_o content_o acquiesce_v in_o it_o and_o patient_o submit_v to_o it_o and_o confess_v his_o love_n and_o kindness_n after_o the_o most_o acceptable_a sort_n when_o we_o throw_v ourselves_o upon_o it_o and_o work_v and_o endeavour_v all_o our_o life_n long_o in_o hope_n and_o expectation_n of_o it_o in_o our_o daily_a action_n of_o justice_n and_o charity_n of_o temperance_n and_o sobriety_n of_o meekness_n patience_n mercy_n and_o forgiveness_n and_o in_o all_o other_o instance_n of_o obedience_n we_o give_v god_n the_o honour_n to_o choose_v for_o we_o to_o dispose_v of_o we_o to_o be_v seek_v after_o and_o entrust_v by_o we_o we_o evidence_n our_o esteem_n of_o he_o our_o love_n for_o he_o our_o trust_n in_o he_o our_o dependence_n on_o he_o our_o resignation_n to_o he_o and_o that_o most_o effectual_o so_o that_o whatsoever_o can_v move_v god_n in_o our_o prayer_n will_v move_v he_o in_o a_o high_a degree_n and_o after_o another_o fashion_n in_o our_o obedience_n the_o spirit_n of_o goodness_n which_o be_v evidence_v in_o our_o prayer_n be_v evidence_v much_o more_o in_o the_o course_n of_o good_a action_n no_o rhetoric_n therefore_o of_o our_o prayer_n be_v like_a to_o that_o of_o a_o good_a life_n every_o action_n of_o obedience_n in_o a_o good_a man_n have_v the_o effect_n of_o a_o prayer_n and_o call_v down_o upon_o he_o the_o same_o mercy_n and_o the_o same_o grace_n which_o will_v be_v procure_v by_o a_o supplication_n let_v a_o man_n therefore_o make_v sure_a in_o the_o first_o place_n of_o a_o good_a life_n and_o of_o a_o honest_a and_o entire_a obedience_n and_o then_o he_o need_v not_o fear_v to_o want_v those_o thing_n which_o all_o good_a man_n have_v need_v to_o pray_v for_o see_v he_o will_v show_v so_o much_o daily_o in_o his_o life_n as_o will_v make_v his_o request_n be_v grant_v and_o his_o prayer_n be_v hearken_v to_o he_o can_v perish_v for_o want_n of_o those_o mercy_n which_o he_o pray_v for_o although_o it_o be_v sometime_o with_o coldness_n and_o distraction_n because_o not_o only_o the_o other_o obedient_a temper_n of_o his_o prayer_n when_o through_o some_o unchosen_a hindrance_n a_o due_a fixedness_n and_o fervency_n be_v want_v but_o also_o the_o constant_a and_o uninterrupted_a obedience_n of_o his_o life_n be_v daily_o ascend_v up_o and_o bring_v they_o down_o upon_o he_o let_v no_o good_a soul_n therefore_o be_v further_o trouble_v and_o disquiet_v upon_o this_o account_n as_o if_o because_o after_o all_o his_o care_n his_o prayer_n be_v sometime_o dull_a and_o cold_a and_o his_o thought_n therein_o be_v much_o distract_v he_o shall_v either_o be_v eternal_o punish_v for_o they_o or_o at_o least_o go_v without_o those_o blessing_n which_o he_o desire_v in_o they_o for_o so_o long_o as_o the_o spirit_n of_o obedience_n appear_v both_o in_o his_o prayer_n and_o in_o his_o action_n the_o unwilled_a distraction_n of_o his_o mind_n and_o the_o dulness_n and_o frozenness_n of_o his_o affection_n at_o some_o time_n shall_v be_v no_o hindrance_n either_o to_o his_o suit_n at_o present_a or_o to_o his_o happiness_n hereafter_o his_o request_n shall_v from_o he_o they_o be_v afraid_a also_o that_o it_o be_v defective_a in_o a_o main_a point_n for_o they_o can_v love_v and_o serve_v he_o in_o that_o comprehensive_a latitude_n which_o the_o commandment_n require_v viz._n with_o all_o their_o heart_n and_o with_o all_o their_o soul_n and_o with_o all_o their_o mind_n they_o doubt_v they_o be_v past_a grace_n and_o pardon_v because_o
