in_o law_n sense_n and_o so_o justify_v etc._n etc._n and_o who_o see_v not_o that_o it_o must_v be_v so_o see_v we_o can_v be_v justify_v by_o no_o righteousness_n which_o be_v not_o a_o proper_a meritorious_a cause_n of_o our_o justification_n &_o consequent_o that_o we_o can_v be_v justify_v by_o any_o other_o righteousness_n than_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n &_o so_o not_o by_o our_o own_o gospel-righteousness_n nor_o by_o faith_n as_o such_n a_o righteousness_n for_o that_o can_v be_v a_o meritorious_a cause_n of_o our_o justification_n 18._o this_o be_v also_o a_o doctrine_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n reveal_v in_o the_o gospel_n to_o carnal_a liberty_n and_o what_o a_o propensity_n there_o be_v in_o we_o to_o look_v for_o justification_n upon_o the_o account_n of_o our_o work_n only_o so_o that_o if_o we_o hear_v of_o any_o thing_n to_o put_v we_o of_o this_o apprehension_n we_o present_o be_v ready_a to_o conclude_v that_o all_o study_n of_o and_o endeavour_n after_o holiness_n be_v whole_o useless_a &_o unnecessary_a and_o that_o we_o need_v not_o wonder_n much_o at_o socinian_o &_o other_o who_o do_v thus_o reason_v against_o the_o imputation_n of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ._n but_o paul_n do_v clear_a to_o we_o a_o sweet_a consistency_n betwixt_o free_a justification_n upon_o the_o account_n of_o christ_n righteousness_n impute_v and_o the_o serious_a study_n of_o holiness_n he_o see_v no_o inconsistency_n betwixt_o the_o study_n of_o obedience_n to_o the_o law_n in_o all_o point_n and_o the_o expectation_n of_o justification_n by_o faith_n in_o christ_n alone_o whatever_o man_n who_o will_v seem_v sharp-sighted_a &_o zealous_a for_o the_o study_n of_o holiness_n do_v suppose_v they_o can_v but_o see_v and_o albeit_o man_n in_o those_o day_n be_v ready_a enough_o to_o except_v against_o free_a justification_n through_o the_o impute_v righteousness_n of_o christ_n and_o to_o pretend_v that_o the_o assert_v thereof_o do_v take_v away_o all_o study_n of_o holiness_n yet_o &_o this_o be_v very_o remarkable_a the_o apostle_n to_o remove_v that_o objection_n never_o give_v the_o least_o hint_n of_o the_o necessity_n of_o our_o work_n of_o obedience_n in_o order_n to_o our_o justification_n and_o though_o he_o do_v frequent_o press_v to_o holiness_n yet_o he_o never_o make_v use_v of_o any_o argument_n thereunto_o which_o may_v so_o much_o as_o insinuat_fw-la that_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o work_n in_o one_o measure_n or_o other_o nay_o we_o will_v find_v that_o he_o draw_v argument_n press_v unto_o holiness_n from_o the_o very_a nature_n of_o their_o gospel-justification_n &_o of_o their_o state_n by_o virtue_n thereof_o and_o experience_n prove_v this_o day_n that_o the_o most_o effectual_a medium_fw-la to_o holiness_n be_v take_v from_o free_a justification_n through_o faith_n in_o christ_n alone_o and_o that_o the_o holiness_n and_o obedience_n of_o such_o as_o practice_v the_o orthodox_n doctrine_n concern_v justification_n have_v another_o heavenly_a lustre_n as_o it_o flow_v from_o another_o fountain_n &_o stand_v upon_o another_o ground_n and_o look_v more_o like_a true_a holiness_n &_o universal_a sincere_a obedience_n than_o what_o be_v to_o be_v see_v among_o such_o as_o lay_v most_o weight_n upon_o their_o own_o duty_n whether_o we_o speak_v of_o papist_n socinian_o arminian_n or_o of_o other_o and_o whatever_o inconsistency_n man_n may_v imagine_v to_o be_v betwixt_o free_a justification_n through_o the_o impute_v righteousness_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o universal_a sincere_a &_o acceptable_a study_n of_o holiness_n yet_o the_o gospel_n know_v no_o such_o thing_n but_o press_v holiness_n though_o not_o for_o this_o end_n that_o we_o may_v thereby_o be_v put_v into_o a_o state_n of_o justification_n or_o may_v sweat_v &_o foil_n run_v &_o work_v for_o the_o prize_n as_o the_o hire_n &_o way_n of_o our_o work_n yet_o upon_o more_o spiritual_a
