hear_v before_o john_n 3_o though_o the_o love_n of_o god_n to_o his_o church_n be_v the_o basis_n or_o prime_a cause_n of_o that_o propriety_n it_o now_o have_v in_o he_o yet_o be_v it_o not_o either_o the_o only_a or_o immediate_a cause_n thereof_o this_o affection_n of_o he_o notwithstanding_o they_o be_v yet_o afar_o off_o as_o s._n paul_n speak_v and_o lay_v at_o as_o great_a a_o distance_n as_o be_v between_o heaven_n and_o earth_n from_o be_v a_o church_n or_o holy_a people_n unto_o he_o from_o have_v any_o such_o peculiar_a interest_n or_o propriety_n in_o he_o sin_n have_v separate_v and_o that_o with_o a_o high_a hand_n between_o he_o and_o they_o and_o have_v fix_v a_o great_a gulf_n betwixt_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o movable_a only_o by_o he_o that_o have_v power_n to_o remove_v the_o earth_n out_o of_o his_o place_n which_o keep_v they_o asunder_o from_o come_v one_o at_o the_o other_o god_n can_v not_o reach_v or_o come_v at_o his_o creature_n with_o any_o other_o expression_n of_o his_o love_n till_o this_o gulf_n be_v remove_v till_o sin_v that_o hinder_v be_v take_v out_o of_o the_o way_n much_o less_o be_v it_o possible_a for_o the_o creature_n to_o have_v make_v any_o approach_n near_o unto_o he_o to_o have_v gain_v any_o thing_n upon_o he_o or_o in_o he_o till_o then_o now_o to_o fill_v up_o this_o vast_a dreadful_a and_o devour_a gulf_n and_o so_o to_o make_v the_o way_n passable_a from_o god_n to_o the_o creature_n and_o from_o the_o creature_n back_o again_o unto_o god_n there_o be_v nothing_o else_o to_o be_v find_v in_o heaven_n or_o earth_n of_o any_o proportion_n or_o any_o way_n commensurable_a thereunto_o but_o only_o one_o that_o may_v lawful_o count_v it_o no_o robbery_n to_o be_v equal_a with_o god_n be_v god_n himself_o bless_v for_o ever_o the_o infinite_o wise_a just_a and_o righteous_a god_n can_v have_v find_v no_o other_o consideration_n of_o value_n and_o weight_n sufficient_a to_o uttermost_a to_o have_v raise_v a_o consideration_n or_o reason_n among_o they_o why_o god_n shall_v have_v pass_v over_o those_o word_n of_o he_o as_o if_o they_o have_v never_o be_v speak_v shall_v have_v let_v fall_v that_o solemn_a intermination_n or_o threaten_v of_o his_o to_o the_o ground_n never_o to_o have_v execute_v what_o he_o have_v threaten_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n doubtless_o and_o zeal_n to_o his_o glory_n will_v have_v despise_v it_o and_o laugh_v it_o to_o scorn_v whatsoever_o possible_o it_o may_v have_v amount_v unto_o and_o will_v have_v be_v more_o ready_a to_o have_v fall_v upon_o mediator_n and_o offender_n together_o with_o fiery_a indignation_n than_o any_o way_n relent_v or_o stand_v so_o much_o as_o to_o consider_v what_o he_o have_v to_o do_v upon_o the_o tender_a of_o any_o such_o proposition_n unto_o he_o it_o be_v no_o work_n no_o undertake_n for_o creature_n to_o salve_v the_o glory_n of_o a_o infinite_a wisdom_n and_o majesty_n in_o case_n he_o shall_v let_v such_o word_n of_o his_o go_n for_o nought_o and_o vanish_v into_o the_o wind_n which_o be_v utter_v with_o such_o solemnity_n upon_o such_o just_a and_o righteous_a ground_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n it_o may_v just_o have_v be_v think_v that_o god_n have_v prize_v such_o word_n as_o those_o at_o a_o low_a and_o under_o rate_n and_o consequent_o undervalue_v himself_o in_o the_o bargain_n if_o he_o have_v sell_v they_o at_o any_o such_o rate_n or_o price_n as_o the_o creature_n can_v have_v give_v but_o the_o death_n and_o suffering_n of_o have_v he_o at_o the_o great_a advantage_n at_o the_o low_a ebb_n that_o ever_o they_o have_v or_o be_v ever_o like_a to_o have_v he_o more_o true_o he_o upon_o who_o the_o hope_n of_o the_o world_n depend_v be_v then_o at_o the_o low_a step_n of_o his_o humiliation_n he_o be_v full_o empty_v and_o have_v nothing_o leave_v but_o he_o go_v down_o so_o low_a only_o to_o take_v his_o rise_n as_o it_o be_v to_o mount_v up_o the_o high_a and_o to_o carry_v all_o up_o on_o high_a with_o he_o and_o he_o be_v never_o near_o his_o exaltation_n nor_o the_o world_n its_o salvation_n then_o when_o he_o lie_v at_o the_o low_a point_n of_o his_o humiliation_n such_o be_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o church_n it_o be_v never_o near_o the_o glory_n and_o beauty_n and_o full_a strength_n of_o it_o then_o when_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v most_o forsake_v of_o god_n as_o christ_n be_v then_o ready_a and_o never_o till_o then_o to_o enter_v into_o paradise_n when_o he_o cry_v out_o my_o god_n my_o god_n why_o have_v thou_o forsake_v i_o ought_v not_o christ_n to_o suffer_v say_v he_o himself_o and_o so_o immediate_o and_o without_o delay_n upon_o his_o suffering_n to_o enter_v into_o his_o glory_n so_o when_o the_o church_n be_v ready_a to_o cry_v out_o and_o complain_v of_o be_v forsake_v this_o complaint_n and_o cry_n be_v the_o great_a sign_n of_o the_o time_n of_o the_o church_n god_n themselves_o that_o make_v this_o church_n of_o god_n and_o according_o have_v their_o interest_n in_o god_n second_o the_o wicked_a that_o be_v enemy_n of_o the_o church_n and_o people_n of_o god_n whether_o open_o or_o profess_o such_o or_o only_o secret_o and_o under_o hand_n first_o to_o dispatch_v with_o the_o latter_a because_o i_o hope_v there_o be_v few_o of_o that_o brood_n in_o presence_n if_o any_o especial_o for_o head_n and_o captain_n of_o that_o curse_a confederacy_n with_o who_o especial_o matter_n of_o this_o nature_n will_v be_v transact_v and_o negotiate_v i_o can_v conceive_v there_o shall_v be_v any_o of_o these_o before_o i_o and_o therefore_o the_o work_n of_o our_o exhortation_n to_o these_o shall_v be_v the_o few_o and_o then_o we_o shall_v be_v free_a to_o converse_v with_o the_o first_o the_o church_n and_o people_n of_o god_n with_o who_o we_o desire_v chief_o to_o have_v to_o do_v in_o our_o present_a exhortation_n first_o therefore_o if_o the_o church_n and_o people_n of_o god_n stand_v real_o possess_v of_o that_o high_a privilege_n and_o prerogative_n royal_a that_o have_v be_v speak_v of_o if_o they_o have_v indeed_o that_o interest_n in_o the_o lord_n almighty_n in_o his_o mercy_n wisdom_n power_n with_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o his_o glorious_a perfection_n as_o have_v be_v prove_v then_o hear_v all_o you_o that_o be_v enemy_n to_o the_o people_n of_o the_o god_n of_o abraham_n you_o that_o either_o cry_v out_o with_o edom_n or_o speak_v it_o in_o your_o heart_n with_o sanballat_n tobiah_n and_o such_o like_v underhand_o enemy_n of_o the_o church_n of_o god_n down_o with_o it_o down_o with_o it_o even_o to_o the_o ground_n let_v this_o generation_n i_o say_v hear_v from_o all_o the_o end_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o
