reveal_v in_o the_o scripture_n and_o therefore_o let_v i_o reason_v a_o little_a with_o all_o those_o drunkard_n into_o who_o hand_n this_o discourse_n shall_v come_v about_o the_o certainty_n of_o their_o damnation_n if_o they_o persist_v in_o their_o drunken_a and_o sottish_a course_n suppose_v all_o the_o minister_n that_o be_v this_o day_n upon_o the_o face_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o all_o the_o know_v and_o wise_a man_n in_o the_o world_n shall_v come_v to_o thou_o and_o tell_v thou_o if_o thou_o do_v not_o leave_v off_o thy_o drunkenness_n thou_o will_v certain_o be_v shut_v out_o of_o heaven_n and_o be_v cast_v into_o hell_n will_v this_o startle_v thou_o that_o which_o the_o lord_n tell_v we_o in_o his_o holy_a word_n be_v more_o certain_o true_a than_o what_o be_v tell_v we_o by_o all_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n for_o all_o man_n be_v fallible_a and_o subject_a to_o mistake_n and_o may_v be_v overtake_v with_o a_o lie_n but_o god_n be_v infallible_a and_o be_v a_o god_n that_o can_v lie_v rom._n 3.4_o let_v god_n be_v true_a and_o every_o man_n a_o liar_n suppose_v one_o of_o thy_o drunken_a companion_n that_o die_v in_o his_o sin_n and_o be_v now_o in_o that_o be_v more_o certain_a than_o if_o thou_o hear_v a_o voice_n from_o heaven_n tell_v thou_o thou_o be_v a_o damn_a creature_n or_o then_o if_o thou_o see_v thy_o name_n in_o the_o list_n of_o those_o that_o be_v to_o be_v damn_v for_o there_o be_v as_o great_a or_o a_o great_a certainty_n in_o what_o we_o read_v in_o the_o scripture_n than_o in_o what_o we_o hear_v speak_v by_o a_o voice_n from_o heaven_n 2_o pet._n 1.18.19_o and_o this_o voice_n which_o come_v from_o heaven_n we_o hear_v we_o have_v also_o a_o more_o sure_a word_n of_o prophecy_n suppose_v the_o lord_n himself_o shall_v come_v and_o speak_v to_o thou_o in_o a_o dream_n as_o he_o do_v to_o abimelech_n gen._n 20.3_o god_n come_v to_o abimelech_n in_o a_o dream_n by_o night_n and_o say_v unto_o he_o behold_v thou_o be_v but_o a_o dead_a man_n for_o the_o woman_n which_o thou_o have_v take_v for_o she_o be_v a_o man_n wife_n suppose_v i_o say_v the_o lord_n himself_o shall_v say_v to_o thou_o in_o a_o of_o neighbour_n raise_v in_o your_o rate_n and_o the_o like_a to_o the_o loss_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n and_o the_o suffering_n of_o the_o torment_n of_o hell_n 5._o if_o you_o can_v withstand_v the_o temptation_n of_o drunkenness_n by_o reason_n of_o your_o live_n among_o sottish_a neighbour_n remove_v your_o habitation_n and_o choose_v a_o dwell_n among_o more_o sober_a and_o pious_a person_n who_o godly_a example_n may_v excite_v and_o encourage_v you_o to_o lead_v a_o godly_a life_n §_o the_o plea_n of_o such_o as_o will_v not_o believe_v that_o god_n will_v shut_v they_o out_o of_o heaven_n for_o such_o a_o small_a sin_n as_o drunkenness_n answer_v plea_n 20._o if_o i_o think_v god_n will_v shut_v i_o out_o of_o heaven_n for_o excessive_a drink_n i_o will_v forthwith_o leave_v off_o my_o go_n to_o alehouse_n and_o tavern_n and_o will_v never_o be_v drink_v any_o more_o for_o i_o be_o not_o such_o a_o fool_n as_o to_o cast_v away_o my_o immortal_a soul_n little_a too_o much_o wine_n or_o strong_a drink_n and_o therefore_o i_o will_v take_v my_o liberty_n to_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o be_v merry_a and_o hope_v to_o go_v to_o heaven_n as_o well_o as_o the_o most_o precise_a and_o abstemious_a person_n in_o the_o world_n a._n 1._o do_v thou_o call_v drunkenness_n a_o small_a sin_n it_o be_v a_o great_a abominable_a a_o monstrous_a most_o loathsome_a and_o beastly_a sin_n it_o be_v a_o sin_n against_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o a_o sin_n against_o the_o light_n of_o scripture_n it_o make_v a_o man_n like_o a_o beast_n yea_o worse_o than_o a_o beast_n for_o there_o be_v many_o beast_n will_v not_o drink_v more_o than_o satisfi_v nature_n it_o make_v a_o man_n like_o a_o devil_n some_o man_n when_o they_o be_v in_o their_o cup_n will_v rage_v and_o swear_v and_o curse_v at_o that_o dreadful_a rate_n that_o they_o seem_v rather_o to_o be_v incarnate_a devil_n than_o man_n yea_o some_o drunka_fw-mi d_n be_v worse_o than_o devil_n for_o the_o devil_n be_v afraid_a of_o be_v torment_v and_o pray_v that_o they_o may_v not_o be_v torment_v before_o their_o time_n mat._n 8.29_o be_v thou_o come_v hither_o to_o torment_v we_o before_o the_o time_n luk._n 8.28_o what_o have_v i_o to_o do_v with_o thou_o jesus_n thou_o son_n of_o god_n most_o high_a i_o beseech_v thou_o torment_v i_o not_o but_o many_o drunkard_n do_v enjoy_v the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n for_o he_o have_v plain_o declare_v that_o no_o drunkard_n shall_v enter_v into_o his_o kingdom_n 1_o cor._n 6.9_o 10._o know_v you_o not_o that_o the_o believe_v it_o or_o believe_v it_o not_o it_o be_v most_o sure_a that_o if_o you_o do_v not_o repent_v of_o and_o forsake_v this_o sin_n of_o drunkenness_n you_o shall_v not_o you_o can_v be_v save_v 3._o the_o lord_n be_v a_o very_a merciful_a and_o gracious_a god_n and_o his_o tender_a mercy_n be_v over_o all_o his_o work_n but_o yet_o he_o will_v not_o show_v mercy_n to_o any_o contrary_n to_o his_o word_n he_o be_v faithful_a and_o true_a as_o well_o as_o merciful_a psal_n 25.10_o all_o the_o path_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v mercy_n and_o truth_n psal_n 85.10_o mercy_n and_o truth_n be_v meet_v together_o it_o be_v never_o know_v that_o the_o lord_n do_v show_v mercy_n to_o any_o in_o a_o way_n contrary_a to_o his_o truth_n or_o that_o mercy_n and_o truth_n cross_v each_o other_o if_o the_o lord_n shall_v save_v drunkard_n he_o shall_v not_o be_v true_a to_o his_o word_n for_o he_o have_v say_v in_o his_o holy_a word_n that_o drunkard_n shall_v not_o inherit_v his_o kingdom_n and_o
