water_v that_o bear_v good_a fruit_n and_o always_o flourish_v but_o like_v unto_o chaff_n which_o have_v no_o root_n at_o all_o in_o the_o earth_n no_o ivice_n nor_o sap_n but_o want_v all_o kind_n of_o good_a fruit_n and_o greenness_n so_o as_o it_o be_v easy_o scatter_v and_o disperse_v with_o every_o blast_n of_o wind_n even_o so_o the_o wicked_a be_v not_o root_v nor_o graft_v into_o jesus_n christ_n and_o be_v altogether_o void_a and_o destitute_a of_o all_o fruit_n of_o good_a work_n and_o of_o all_o save_a grace_n have_v no_o ivice_n nor_o sap_n of_o goodness_n in_o they_o and_o in_o time_n of_o trouble_n and_o temptation_n they_o fall_v away_o yea_o every_o blast_n of_o false_a doctrine_n every_o storm_n of_o temptation_n trial_n or_o persecution_n yea_o the_o least_o blast_n of_o god_n anger_n drive_v they_o hither_o and_o thither_o they_o know_v not_o which_o way_n to_o turn_v they_o so_o that_o in_o this_o similitude_n or_o comparison_n there_o be_v two_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v of_o us._n first_o the_o matter_n whereunto_o the_o wicked_a be_v compare_v unto_o chaff_n second_o the_o condition_n of_o chaff_n which_o the_o wind_n drive_v away_o in_o the_o former_a of_o these_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v how_o the_o wicked_a resemble_v chaff_n natural_o and_o accidental_o how_o wicked_a compare_v to_o chaff_n how_o natural_o chaff_n be_v light_a and_o unprofitable_a first_o it_o be_v light_n contain_v in_o it_o no_o solid_a and_o weighty_a matter_n but_o a_o very_a sleight_n and_o frothy_a substance_n light_n 1_o light_n subject_a to_o many_o alteration_n even_o so_o the_o wicked_a be_v not_o solid_a in_o their_o purpose_n &_o enterprise_n &_o weighty_a in_o their_o carriage_n and_o course_n but_o as_o chaff_n light_n easy_o toss_v &_o blow_v away_o it_o may_v appear_v unto_o we_o that_o the_o wicked_a be_v as_o chaff_n light_n because_o they_o be_v light_n of_o their_o word_n 12.26_o ecclesiastic_a 12.26_o they_o have_v not_o their_o mouth_n in_o their_o heart_n like_o a_o wise_a man_n but_o they_o have_v their_o heart_n in_o their_o mouth_n like_o a_o fool_n do_v they_o promise_v any_o thing_n their_o word_n be_v as_o wind_n as_o the_o proverb_n be_v do_v they_o vow_v any_o thing_n they_o keep_v their_o vow_n like_o those_o that_o vow_v paul_n death_n do_v they_o swear_v any_o thing_n they_o be_v but_o as_o bell_n and_o bubble_n in_o the_o water_n break_v in_o a_o moment_n of_o time_n so_o that_o the_o wicked_a in_o respect_n of_o their_o word_n vow_n or_o oath_n may_v well_o be_v compare_v to_o chaff_n light_n again_o the_o wicked_a may_v well_o be_v compare_v to_o chaff_n light_n because_o they_o be_v light_n of_o their_o mind_n entertain_v and_o exclude_v one_o while_o admit_v another_o while_n reject_v infinite_a purpose_n and_o thought_n of_o heart_n again_o they_o be_v light_n of_o their_o body_n by_o commit_v many_o fornication_n yea_o let_v their_o virtue_n be_v compare_v with_o their_o vice_n it_o will_v then_o appear_v that_o they_o be_v light_a than_o vanity_n itself_o second_o as_o the_o wicked_a be_v like_o chaff_n light_n so_o be_v they_o unprofitable_a and_o that_o two_o way_n first_o in_o matter_n temporal_a concern_v this_o life_n wherein_o though_o they_o have_v ability_n as_o they_o have_v for_o the_o most_o part_n yet_o they_o want_v will_n to_o do_v good_a with_o the_o same_o second_o in_o matter_n spiritual_a wherein_o though_o they_o have_v a_o will_n which_o be_v a_o rare_a thing_n to_o be_v find_v in_o the_o wicked_a yet_o they_o want_v ability_n unprofitable_a unprofitable_a first_o the_o wicked_a be_v as_o chaff_n unprofitable_a in_o regard_n of_o matter_n temporal_a for_o who_o do_v regard_v the_o affliction_n of_o joseph_n for_o either_o their_o will_n be_v whole_o bend_v upon_o covetousness_n or_o prodigality_n this_o be_v a_o evil_n which_o the_o preacher_n see_v under_o the_o sun_n 6.2_o eccl._n 6.2_o a_o man_n to_o who_o god_n have_v give_v riches_n and_o treasure_n and_o honour_n and_o he_o want_v nothing_o for_o his_o soul_n of_o all_o that_o he_o desire_v but_o god_n give_v he_o no_o power_n to_o eat_v thereof_o but_o a_o strange_a man_n shall_v eat_v it_o up_o yea_o such_o be_v the_o case_n of_o many_o a_o man_n that_o where_o he_o lock_v up_o his_o riches_n from_o other_o with_o one_o lock_n he_o lock_n they_o up_o from_o all_o power_n be_v of_o god_n he_o do_v bring_v down_o the_o mighty_a from_o their_o seat_n yea_o he_o have_v all_o creature_n at_o a_o beck_n and_o at_o a_o call_n to_o humble_a man_n yea_o and_o the_o least_o of_o all_o creature_n when_o it_o be_v arm_v and_o send_v of_o god_n be_v sufficient_a to_o destroy_v the_o wicked_a as_o frog_n louse_n fly_n and_o the_o like_a creature_n do_v pharaoh_n and_o the_o egyptian_n 10._o exod._n 10._o and_o as_o the_o palmer-worm_n and_o the_o like_a kind_n of_o caterpillar_n do_v the_o man_n of_o juda_n and_o israel_n 1.3.4_o joel._n 1.3.4_o and_o therefore_o this_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o terror_n unto_o the_o wicked_a who_o be_v no_o strong_a than_o the_o chaff_n to_o resist_v the_o wind_n of_o god_n judgement_n this_o may_v teach_v they_o humllity_n and_o pull_v down_o the_o haughtiness_n of_o their_o heart_n when_o they_o shall_v hear_v the_o irrevokeablenesse_n of_o their_o destruction_n second_o see_v the_o destruction_n use_v 2_o of_o the_o wicked_a be_v irrevokeable_a and_o that_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n come_v sudden_o we_o be_v teach_v here_o that_o it_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o awake_v out_o of_o the_o lord_n love_v and_o allow_v of_o thou_o now_o than_o if_o god_n approve_v of_o thou_o what_o though_o all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n do_v refuse_v or_o condemn_v thou_o if_o the_o king_n shall_v grace_v a_o man_n and_o honour_v he_o what_o will_v this_o man_n care_n for_o the_o contempt_n of_o a_o scullion_n boy_n well_o let_v this_o be_v a_o comfort_n and_o encouragement_n unto_o we_o that_o say_v this_o be_v the_o king_n broad_a seal_n so_o though_o man_n can_v ascend_v to_o heaven_n to_o know_v the_o secret_a counsel_n of_o god_n yet_o by_o these_o fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o his_o knowledge_n man_n may_v know_v his_o will_n whether_o they_o be_v his_o or_o not_o well_o to_o conclude_v see_v the_o lord_n thus_o know_v and_o acknowledge_v yea_o love_n and_o like_v of_o the_o life_n of_o a_o godly_a and_o righteous_a man_n let_v we_o be_v encourage_v to_o go_v throughstitch_n and_o to_o resolve_v of_o this_o never_o to_o be_v daunt_v or_o discourage_v with_o the_o hard_a measure_n of_o ungodly_a man_n all_o our_o care_n shall_v be_v to_o please_v god_n and_o to_o be_v approve_v of_o he_o and_o therefore_o so_o long_o as_o he_o do_v approve_v of_o we_o let_v we_o not_o care_v what_o man_n can_v do_v against_o us._n but_o the_o way_n of_o the_o wicked_a shall_v perish_v doct._n 2_o 1.11_o the_o lord_n hate_v a_o wicked_a man_n and_o all_o he_o do_v esay_n 1.11_o
