the_o creature_n when_o we_o see_v a_o beauty_n and_o excellency_n in_o it_o and_o that_o because_o it_o be_v his_o similitude_n upon_o the_o creature_n and_o it_o be_v god_n excellency_n that_o be_v there_o and_o a_o spiritual_a heart_n have_v more_o freedom_n to_o let_v out_o itself_o to_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o creature_n than_o any_o in_o the_o world_n beside_o because_o he_o can_v meet_v world_n that_o work_v so_o much_o upon_o a_o man_n heart_n to_o adore_v and_o admire_v god_n in_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o the_o understanding_n of_o this_o that_o god_n shall_v have_v a_o peculiar_a way_n of_o communicate_v himself_o to_o man_n different_z from_o angel_n and_o from_o all_o other_o creature_n that_o it_o must_v be_v through_o the_o second_o person_n in_o the_o trinity_n and_o he_o must_v take_v man_n nature_n upon_o he_o and_o suffer_v and_o die_v and_o all_o the_o mercy_n we_o have_v must_v be_v through_o he_o this_o be_v a_o wonderful_a mystery_n of_o godliness_n and_o shall_v take_v up_o our_o serious_a thought_n in_o the_o consideration_n of_o it_o now_o if_o you_o will_v know_v the_o reason_n of_o it_o the_o first_o be_v this_o that_o hereby_o god_n may_v manifest_v to_o all_o the_o child_n of_o man_n what_o a_o dreadful_a breach_n their_o sin_n have_v make_v between_o god_n and_o they_o we_o can_v imagine_v any_o way_n how_o the_o breach_n between_o god_n and_o man_n can_v have_v be_v so_o clear_o set_v out_o as_o by_o this_o mean_n when_o we_o understand_v that_o such_o be_v our_o condition_n by_o nature_n and_o such_o our_o apostasy_n from_o god_n that_o there_o be_v no_o way_n of_o communication_n of_o any_o good_a from_o god_n to_o we_o but_o by_o this_o strange_a and_o wonderful_a way_n of_o a_o mediator_n between_o god_n and_o man_n that_o he_o shall_v obey_v and_o suffer_v and_o die_v for_o we_o we_o must_v needs_o apprehend_v now_o that_o certain_o there_o be_v some_o mighty_a difference_n between_o god_n and_o we_o and_o that_o man_n estate_n be_v very_o low_a and_o his_o condition_n very_o desperate_a that_o must_v have_v such_o a_o remedy_n as_o this_o be_v and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o god_n will_v have_v man_n to_o know_v even_o what_o that_o breach_n be_v between_o he_o and_o their_o soul_n and_o it_o be_v such_o a_o breach_n that_o few_o think_v a_o right_n of_o it_o if_o i_o shall_v open_v the_o law_n to_o you_o with_o all_o its_o curse_n and_o set_v the_o torment_n of_o hell_n before_o you_o all_o this_o can_v not_o set_v out_o the_o dreadfulness_n of_o the_o breach_n between_o god_n and_o you_o so_o as_o this_o point_n do_v when_o i_o tell_v you_o that_o it_o be_v such_o as_o require_v so_o strange_a and_o wonderful_a a_o way_n of_o god_n be_v reconcile_v and_o pacify_v towards_o you_o second_o god_n take_v this_o way_n because_o he_o see_v it_o the_o most_o advantageous_a way_n for_o the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o glory_n first_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o mercy_n there_o be_v no_o way_n that_o can_v have_v be_v devise_v by_o man_n or_o angel_n to_o set_v out_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n mercy_n in_o man_n salvation_n so_o as_o by_o this_o way_n if_o god_n shall_v have_v say_v to_o mankind_n you_o poor_a creature_n have_v sin_v against_o i_o but_o i_o be_o merciful_a and_o will_v pardon_v
you_o god_n have_v be_v glorious_a in_o this_o but_o now_o there_o be_v infinite_o more_o mercy_n show_v when_o god_n shall_v say_v you_o miserable_a creature_n have_v sin_v against_o i_o and_o such_o there_o be_v the_o glory_n of_o his_o justice_n god_n set_v out_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o justice_n here_o more_o than_o if_o all_o mankind_n have_v be_v eternal_o damn_v god_n justice_n will_v not_o have_v be_v honour_v so_o much_o in_o that_o as_o in_o this_o way_n of_o god_n reconcile_a man_n unto_o himself_o and_o that_o in_o these_o two_o regard_n first_o because_o in_o christ_n god_n justice_n be_v glorify_v active_o whereas_o if_o all_o man_n have_v eternal_o perish_v it_o shall_v have_v be_v glorify_v but_o passive_o and_o it_o be_v more_o to_o have_v it_o glorify_v active_o then_o passive_o and_o as_o god_n delight_v more_o in_o active_a obedience_n then_o in_o passive_a so_o he_o delight_v more_o in_o the_o active_a glory_n of_o his_o justice_n then_o in_o the_o passive_a though_o there_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o activeness_n in_o suffering_n and_o so_o in_o christ_n suffering_n therefore_o that_o distinction_n of_o active_a and_o passive_a be_v needless_a for_o his_o active_a obedience_n be_v passive_a and_o his_o passive_a obedience_n have_v activeness_n in_o it_o but_o second_o god_n justice_n be_v now_o glorify_v perfect_o the_o debt_n be_v full_o pay_v whereas_o if_o all_o mankind_n have_v be_v damn_v the_o debt_n shall_v have_v be_v but_o a_o pay_v and_o not_o have_v be_v pay_v to_o all_o eternity_n as_o suppose_v a_o poor_a man_n owe_v a_o thousand_o pound_n and_o he_o pay_v two_o penny_n a_o week_n he_o may_v be_v pay_v of_o it_o but_o can_v pay_v it_o in_o all_o his_o life_n but_o now_o if_o a_o rich_a man_n shall_v come_v and_o at_o once_o lie_v down_o the_o money_n for_o he_o the_o debt_n than_o be_v pay_v and_o this_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o than_o if_o it_o shall_v have_v be_v always_o pay_v so_o i_o say_v if_o all_o mankind_n have_v be_v damn_v eternal_o god_n shall_v have_v have_v his_o debt_n but_o pay_v but_o the_o debt_n will_v never_o have_v be_v pay_v but_o now_o christ_n come_v and_o lay_v down_o the_o payment_n at_o once_o upon_o the_o board_n and_o ask_v justice_n whether_o it_o have_v enough_o or_o no_o so_o that_o justice_n be_v more_o glorify_v this_o way_n and_o three_o the_o infinite_a that_o no_o angel_n in_o heaven_n can_v ever_o have_v imagine_v suppose_v god_n shall_v have_v say_v thus_o to_o all_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n mankind_n be_v in_o a_o lose_a and_o undo_v condition_n yet_o i_o be_o willing_a to_o save_v he_o but_o so_o as_o that_o i_o will_v have_v infinite_a mercy_n and_o justice_n reconcile_v if_o all_o of_o they_o shall_v have_v go_v and_o consult_v way_n as_o that_o god_n shall_v be_v infinite_o merciful_a and_o infinite_o just_a too_o and_o four_o the_o infiniteness_n of_o god_n holiness_n be_v hereby_o manifest_v if_o god_n in_o a_o general_a way_n shall_v have_v throw_v his_o mercy_n as_o it_o be_v up_o and_o down_o in_o the_o world_n without_o any_o more_o ado_n god_n holiness_n and_o hatred_n of_o sin_n will_v not_o have_v appear_v as_o see_v god_n hatred_n of_o sin_n there_o be_v two_o glass_n wherein_o we_o see_v the_o evil_a of_o sin_n the_o bright_a crystal_n glass_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o red_a glass_n of_o the_o suffering_n of_o christ_n and_o this_o latter_a do_v more_o full_o more_o sensible_o i_o be_o sure_a set_v out_o the_o nature_n of_o sin_n and_o god_n hatred_n of_o it_o and_o by_o this_o you_o may_v see_v the_o meaning_n of_o 2_o cor._n 3._o 18._o where_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n say_v but_o we_o all_o with_o open_a face_n mark_n behold_v as_o in_o a_o glass_n the_o glory_n of_o the_o lord_n etc._n etc._n we_o behold_v but_o god_n back_n part_n in_o his_o work_n as_o god_n say_v to_o moses_n we_o behold_v but_o the_o footstep_n of_o god_n in_o his_o work_n but_o when_o we_o behold_v he_o in_o christ_n we_o behold_v he_o with_o open_a face_n now_o look_v what_o difference_n there_o be_v in_o know_v a_o man_n when_o we_o only_o see_v the_o print_n of_o his_o foot_n upon_o sand_n and_o when_o we_o look_v he_o in_o the_o face_n so_o much_o difference_n there_o be_v between_o the_o know_v of_o god_n and_o his_o glory_n as_o it_o shine_v in_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n and_o as_o it_o shine_v in_o the_o face_n of_o christ_n that_o god_n therefore_o may_v manifest_v his_o glory_n he_o will_v not_o pardon_v sin_n so_o free_o as_o to_o say_v you_o have_v sin_v but_o yet_o i_o will_v pity_v you_o and_o pardon_v you_o and_o there_o be_v a_o end_n no_o though_o he_o will_v pardon_v sin_n yet_o he_o will_v do_v it_o this_o way_n a_o three_o reason_n why_o god_n will_v bring_v thing_n about_o this_o way_n be_v this_o because_o god_n see_v there_o can_v be_v no_o such_o way_n to_o draw_v poor_a sinner_n to_o himself_o as_o this_o when_o god_n shall_v reveal_v to_o a_o sinner_n that_o he_o be_v not_o only_o a_o merciful_a god_n but_o that_o he_o have_v provide_v such_o a_o strange_a way_n to_o convey_v his_o mercy_n this_o have_v a_o mighty_a efficacy_n to_o draw_v the_o soul_n to_o god_n for_o the_o poor_a soul_n apprehend_v its_o own_o guiltiness_n and_o god_n hatred_n of_o sin_n and_o understand_v withal_o that_o the_o heart_n of_o god_n be_v set_v upon_o such_o a_o way_n of_o mercy_n be_v by_o this_o as_o by_o a_o mighty_a argument_n prevail_v with_o to_o draw_v near_o to_o god_n in_o a_o way_n of_o dependence_n upon_o he_o for_o thus_o will_v the_o soul_n argue_v well_o i_o hear_v that_o god_n to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v let_v out_o mercy_n to_o poor_a sinner_n have_v of_o his_o own_o infinite_a wisdom_n provide_v such_o a_o strange_a way_n of_o conveyance_n as_o this_o be_v and_o when_o god_n have_v make_v it_o appear_v by_o reveal_v to_o i_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n how_o his_o heart_n be_v set_v upon_o this_o way_n of_o show_v mercy_n to_o sinner_n
it_o shall_v be_v the_o content_a of_o your_o soul_n to_o baffle_v out_o your_o time_n in_o vanity_n and_o thing_n that_o will_v not_o profit_v well_o if_o you_o will_v have_v a_o evidence_n to_o your_o soul_n that_o christ_n be_v all_o in_o all_o to_o you_o and_o shall_v be_v to_o all_o eternity_n take_v it_o in_o this_o if_o ever_o god_n have_v open_v thy_o eye_n to_o see_v his_o glory_n in_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o that_o thy_o heart_n be_v take_v with_o it_o and_o overcome_v by_o it_o it_o be_v a_o argument_n that_o thou_o be_v indeed_o the_o soul_n which_o god_n heart_n of_o any_o creature_n in_o heaven_n or_o earth_n therefore_o bless_v be_v your_o ear_n that_o hear_v the_o thing_n which_o you_o hear_v and_o bless_v be_v your_o eye_n that_o see_v the_o minister_n and_o so_o in_o all_o relation_n when_o we_o can_v look_v upon_o other_o as_o a_o mean_n of_o conveyance_n of_o god_n mercy_n to_o we_o it_o be_v a_o mighty_a argument_n to_o knit_v our_o
