though_o both_o may_v work_v in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n yet_o as_o the_o one_o be_v temporary_a and_o the_o other_o persever_v so_o this_o difference_n you_o shall_v find_v between_o common_a and_o sincere_a christian_n and_o that_o not_o only_a when_o legal_a christian_n be_v blast_v of_o god_n but_o even_o then_o when_o they_o do_v most_o flourish_n in_o their_o profession_n the_o true_a faith_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o jesus_n christ_n be_v never_o precedent_n of_o his_o own_o strength_n but_o go_v out_o of_o himself_o and_o be_v dependent_a on_o jesus_n christ_n whereas_o the_o pipe_n yet_o one_o blast_n of_o the_o bellows_n put_v breath_n into_o they_o all_o so_o that_o all_o of_o they_o at_o once_o break_v forth_o into_o a_o kind_n of_o melody_n and_o give_v a_o pleasant_a sound_n to_o the_o ear_n of_o those_o that_o stand_v by_o all_o of_o they_o do_v make_v but_o one_o instrument_n and_o one_o sound_n and_o yet_o variety_n of_o music_n so_o be_v this_o very_a case_n look_v at_o all_o the_o live_a member_n of_o christ_n they_o be_v all_o compact_a together_o and_o set_v into_o one_o stock_n and_o root_n by_o which_o mean_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o though_o they_o be_v many_o thousand_o yet_o they_o all_o make_v a_o melodious_a harmony_n in_o the_o ear_n of_o the_o lord_n of_o host_n therefore_o for_o the_o combine_a of_o we_o into_o the_o unity_n of_o one_o spirit_n necessary_a it_o be_v that_o the_o same_o spirit_n that_o breathe_v in_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n shall_v breathe_v in_o we_o all_o and_o though_o the_o divine_a nature_n of_o christ_n be_v god_n the_o humane_a nature_n be_v finite_a and_o yet_o have_v the_o spirit_n above_o the_o capacity_n of_o the_o creature_n and_o this_o same_o spirit_n do_v act_n and_o guide_v and_o move_v all_o our_o affair_n in_o he_o and_o which_o be_v wonderful_a it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o the_o same_o spirit_n breathe_v in_o christ_n and_o in_o we_o we_o have_v not_o only_o a_o measure_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o do_v one_o duty_n but_o he_o do_v concur_v with_o we_o in_o all_o spiritual_a duty_n which_o we_o undertake_v according_a to_o he_o for_o without_o he_o we_o can_v do_v nothing_o joh._n 15.5_o this_o be_v the_o first_o reason_n of_o the_o inhabitation_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o keep_v alive_a spiritual_a union_n between_o christ_n and_o we_o therefore_o be_v that_o we_o have_v receive_v he_o blast_v all_o the_o precious_a gift_n that_o adam_n have_v receive_v which_o be_v more_o perfect_a in_o degree_n than_o any_o we_o receive_v and_o yet_o when_o all_o the_o power_n of_o darkness_n and_o gate_n of_o hell_n be_v band_v together_o against_o jesus_n christ_n and_o his_o servant_n there_o be_v not_o the_o least_o of_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n that_o fall_v away_o final_o and_o the_o apostle_n john_n give_v the_o reason_n of_o it_o 1_o joh._n 4.4_o you_o be_v of_o god_n little_a child_n and_o have_v overcome_v they_o because_o great_a be_v he_o own_o eternal_a counsel_n for_o their_o salvation_n there_o be_v i_o confess_v also_o some_o kind_n of_o presence_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n even_o in_o hypocrite_n that_o
some_o peace_n unto_o the_o soul_n thus_o the_o father_n do_v reveal_v the_o son_n in_o we_o and_o in_o point_n of_o sanctification_n the_o father_n do_v regenerate_v we_o but_o it_o be_v by_o a_o spirit_n of_o regeneration_n the_o son_n redeem_v we_o into_o liberty_n by_o a_o spirit_n of_o liberty_n he_o come_v in_o the_o father_n name_n and_o in_o the_o son_n name_n to_o carry_v on_o that_o work_n which_o they_o have_v in_o hand_n in_o the_o saint_n joh._n 14.26_o and_o chap._n 15.26_o the_o father_n will_v send_v he_o and_o i_o will_v send_v he_o and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n do_v kind_o most_o deboist_a and_o profane_a wretch_n more_o humble_v and_o ready_a to_o hearken_v to_o the_o voice_n of_o christ_n and_o soon_o convince_v of_o the_o necessity_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n than_o those_o that_o be_v but_o moral_o righteous_a by_o the_o law_n rom._n 9.30_o 31_o 32._o the_o gentile_n which_o follow_v not_o after_o righteousness_n have_v attain_v to_o righteousness_n even_o the_o righteousness_n which_o be_v of_o faith_n but_o israel_n which_o follow_v after_o the_o law_n of_o righteousness_n have_v not_o attain_v to_o the_o law_n of_o righteousness_n wherefore_o because_o they_o seek_v it_o not_o by_o faith_n but_o as_o it_o be_v by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n and_o chap._n 10.31_o they_o be_v ignorant_a of_o god_n with_o god_n touch_v the_o worth_n of_o their_o own_o righteousness_n isa_n 57.10_o thou_o have_v find_v the_o life_n of_o thy_o hand_n therefore_o thou_o be_v not_o grieve_v as_o long_o as_o a_o man_n find_v life_n and_o comfort_n in_o his_o own_o duty_n and_o performance_n what_o need_n can_v he_o see_v to_o be_v grieve_v for_o the_o want_n of_o jesus_n christ_n or_o at_o the_o best_a if_o belong_v unto_o god_n to_o break_v their_o heart_n for_o sin_n and_o to_o drive_v they_o to_o jesus_n christ_n and_o for_o other_o the_o disobedience_n of_o the_o law_n leave_v they_o without_o excuse_n that_o so_o disobey_v it_o again_o the_o obedience_n of_o it_o and_o comfort_n in_o that_o obedience_n do_v harden_v the_o heart_n of_o other_o from_o jesus_n christ_n but_o what_o say_v you_o then_o unto_o man_n that_o be_v under_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o bring_v unto_o fellowship_n with_o christ_n therein_o of_o what_o use_n be_v the_o law_n of_o of_o god_n unto_o such_o will_n of_o god_n even_o your_o sanctification_n etc._n etc._n and_o many_o other_o commandment_n he_o give_v they_o all_o which_o be_v legal_a commandment_n and_o yet_o the_o apostle_n give_v they_o by_o the_o lord_n jesus_n so_o mat._n 5.17_o to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o chapter_n our_o saviour_n christ_n will_v not_o have_v we_o think_v that_o he_o come_v to_o destroy_v the_o law_n or_o the_o prophet_n but_o to_o fulfil_v they_o and_o to_o that_o end_n he_o do_v there_o expound_v the_o spiritual_a and_o true_a meaning_n of_o the_o law_n that_o whereas_o the_o pharisee_n hold_v forth_o the_o outward_a letter_n of_o the_o law_n to_o be_v observe_v only_o as_o think_v that_o unless_o a_o man_n do_v commit_v the_o act_n of_o murder_n he_o be_v not_o guilty_a of_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o six_o commandment_n and_o if_o he_o commit_v not_o the_o act_n of_o adultery_n he_o transgress_v not_o the_o seven_o commandment_n and_o so_o of_o the_o rest_n our_o saviour_n christ_n expound_v the_o law_n more_o spiritual_o show_v that_o anger_n against_o a_o man_n brother_n be_v the_o breach_n of_o the_o six_o commandment_n and_o whosoever_o shall_v look_v on_o a_o woman_n to_o lust_n whatsoever_o we_o have_v to_o do_v in_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n that_o we_o shall_v soon_o be_v weary_a of_o reach_v forth_o our_o hand_n all_o the_o day_n long_o unto_o the_o lord_n and_o to_o be_v constant_o for_o god_n from_o god_n and_o with_o god_n in_o all_o our_o action_n our_o base_a spirit_n be_v soon_o ready_a to_o be_v withdraw_v from_o the_o lord_n therefore_o the_o apostle_n bid_v we_o follow_v after_o peace_n and_o holiness_n without_o which_o no_o man_n shall_v see_v god_n so_o that_o great_a be_v the_o necessity_n of_o holiness_n and_o worthy_a to_o be_v follow_v after_o for_o though_o a_o man_n own_o heart_n and_o the_o world_n and_o man_n and_o satan_n withdraw_v we_o from_o it_o yet_o follow_v after_o it_o for_o without_o it_o no_o man_n shall_v see_v god_n there_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o holiness_n which_o some_o man_n have_v attain_v unto_o many_o a_o fair_a day_n ago_o but_o it_o be_v a_o thousand_o to_o one_o whether_o it_o be_v the_o holiness_n which_o do_v accompany_v salvation_n for_o that_o holiness_n be_v not_o easy_o attain_v unto_o but_o the_o other_o will_v easy_o cleave_v close_o unto_o a_o man_n now_o if_o you_o shall_v ask_v i_o quest_n 1_o wherefore_o the_o lord_n will_v have_v we_o pursue_v after_o holiness_n and_o what_o need_v it_o if_o the_o spirit_n of_o holiness_n dwell_v in_o i_o by_o a_o everlasting_a covenant_n if_o it_o do_v withdraw_v from_o we_o as_o it_o do_v from_o adam_n it_o be_v another_o matter_n but_o though_o it_o may_v be_v quench_v in_o we_o yet_o abide_v it_o for_o ever_o what_o need_v then_o of_o gift_n of_o namely_o that_o they_o may_v become_v meet_a instrument_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n and_o fit_v unto_o every_o good_a word_n and_o work_n therefore_o it_o be_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v have_v we_o to_o be_v fill_v with_o all_o the_o gift_n of_o righteousness_n and_o fruit_n of_o his_o spirit_n that_o we_o may_v be_v more_o fit_a temple_n for_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o dwell_v in_o and_o this_o be_v the_o principal_a reason_n of_o the_o point_n if_o then_o there_o be_v such_o gift_n of_o holiness_n quest_n 2_o what_o need_v the_o holy_a ghost_n dwell_v in_o we_o be_v it_o not_o enough_o that_o he_o shall_v shed_v abroad_o these_o thing_n into_o our_o heart_n can_v the_o lord_n carry_v a_o end_n the_o work_n of_o our_o salvation_n by_o these_o gift_n there_o be_v need_n that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n shall_v dwell_v in_o we_o answ_n notwithstanding_o 1._o to_o keep_v these_o gift_n in_o we_o 2._o to_o act_v they_o in_o we_o 3._o to_o witness_v these_o unto_o our_o soul_n for_o our_o comfort_n and_o the_o good_a one_o of_o another_o some_o scripture_n for_o all_o these_o 1._o that_o there_o be_v need_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o keep_v these_o thing_n in_o we_o 2_o tim._n 1.14_o that_o good_a thing_n which_o be_v commit_v unto_o thou_o keep_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o dwell_v in_o we_o there_o be_v a_o very_a worthy_a thing_n commit_v to_o we_o how_o shall_v we_o keep_v it_o not_o by_o our_o own_o wit_n and_o wisdom_n careful_a watchfulness_n and_o faithfulness_n though_o such_o thing_n ought_v not_o to_o be_v want_v but_o the_o charge_n be_v keep_v those_o thing_n by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o dwell_v in_o we_o we_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o gift_n to_o be_v fit_a instrument_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n we_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n to_o maintain_v that_o which_o god_n give_v we_o and_o though_o adam_n gift_n be_v in_o perfection_n yet_o not_o have_v the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o keep_v they_o for_o he_o they_o all_o fly_v from_o he_o as_o soon_o as_o ever_o he_o have_v taste_v of_o the_o forbid_a fruit_n and_o leave_v he_o naked_a and_o desperate_a therefore_o in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n the_o lord_n give_v the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o keep_v strong_a possession_n in_o his_o servant_n against_o the_o strong_a man_n arm_v this_o be_v the_o first_o ground_n why_o the_o holy_a ghost_n dwell_v in_o we_o 2._o it_o be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o act_v the_o gift_n give_v to_o we_o and_o enable_v they_o in_o we_o for_o the_o holy_a ghost_n who_o keep_v possession_n do_v derive_v continue_v strength_n into_o our_o faith_n which_o put_v life_n into_o all_o the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o if_o you_o shall_v ask_v how_o love_n and_o patience_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o gift_n of_o god_n do_v work_v the_o holy_a ghost_n stir_v up_o faith_n to_o look_v unto_o christ_n who_o return_v strength_n by_o his_o spirit_n unto_o faith_n and_o so_o faith_n work_v by_o love_n and_o by_o meekness_n and_o by_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n thus_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n act_v according_a to_o what_o we_o read_v rom._n 8.14_o as_o many_o as_o be_v lead_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n come_v to_o any_o holy_a duty_n and_o it_o be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o lead_v you_o along_o and_o at_v in_o you_o so_o ezek._n 3._o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n do_v not_o only_o keep_v these_o gift_n for_o we_o and_o act_v they_o in_o we_o but_o it_o be_v the_o same_o spirit_n of_o god_n that_o witness_v to_o these_o gift_n and_o show_v what_o gift_n he_o have_v give_v we_o for_o such_o be_v the_o blindness_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o all_o the_o son_n of_o man_n and_o it_o be_v a_o wonder_n to_o see_v that_o general_o christians_o when_o the_o lord_n first_o work_v these_o gift_n in_o they_o not_o one_o of_o a_o thousand_o but_o they_o think_v they_o be_v in_o a_o sad_a and_o fearful_a condition_n and_o so_o they_o be_v very_o uncomfortable_a but_o now_o leave_v that_o we_o shall_v always_o mistake_v that_o which_o the_o lord_n have_v give_v we_o we_o have_v receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n that_o we_o may_v know_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v free_o give_v unto_o we_o of_o god_n 1_o cor._n 2.12_o he_o indeed_o take_v his_o own_o time_n to_o discover_v it_o to_o some_o soon_o to_o some_o late_a but_o this_o have_v help_v we_o to_o do_v that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o give_v account_n of_o they_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o dwell_v in_o we_o and_o bear_v witness_n with_o we_o so_o there_o be_v necessity_n both_o of_o the_o gift_n of_o grace_n that_o we_o may_v be_v fit_a temple_n for_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o dwell_v in_o and_o fit_a instrument_n for_o he_o to_o work_v by_o there_o be_v need_v also_o the_o holy_a ghost_n
stay_n but_o be_v still_o thrive_a and_o grow_v and_o that_o not_o in_o his_o own_o strength_n but_o in_o the_o strength_n of_o jesus_n christ_n seek_v for_o his_o acceptance_n and_o help_n in_o every_o duty_n he_o go_v about_o and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o the_o apostle_n paul_n do_v exhort_v the_o colossian_n unto_o chap._n 2.6_o 7._o as_o you_o have_v receive_v christ_n jesus_n the_o lord_n so_o walk_v you_o in_o he_o root_v and_o build_v up_o in_o he_o and_o establish_v in_o the_o faith_n this_o ought_v christian_n main_o to_o attend_v unto_o that_o as_o you_o see_v the_o desire_v to_o be_v grow_v up_o unto_o perfection_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o so_o many_o servant_n of_o god_n be_v not_o so_o lively_a in_o their_o profession_n as_o they_o be_v wont_a to_o be_v many_o year_n ago_o true_o we_o attend_v upon_o ordinance_n but_o it_o be_v only_o upon_o the_o outward_a act_n of_o they_o and_o not_o upon_o jesus_n christ_n in_o they_o this_o be_v many_o time_n want_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o god_n people_n but_o true_o if_o this_o be_v our_o constant_a frame_n and_o we_o do_v not_o recover_v ourselves_o then_o be_v not_o our_o sanctification_n that_o which_o flow_v from_o fellowship_n with_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o spirit_n of_o his_o grace_n for_o you_o shall_v ever_o find_v this_o to_o be_v true_a that_o there_o be_v no_o gift_n of_o jesus_n christ_n nor_o sanctification_n accompany_v salvation_n but_o it_o do_v knit_v we_o near_o and_o near_o unto_o christ_n for_o the_o more_o we_o be_v fill_v with_o true_a spiritual_a gift_n the_o more_o empty_a we_o be_v of_o our_o own_o strength_n and_o of_o self-conceit_n and_o so_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v otherwise_o you_o shall_v constant_o find_v this_o that_o if_o the_o lord_n do_v fall_v away_o unless_o we_o be_v knit_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o his_o grace_n for_o by_o all_o true_a sanctification_n we_o be_v the_o more_o knit_v unto_o he_o so_o that_o if_o any_o man_n will_v know_v whether_o the_o superscription_n of_o christ_n and_o his_o image_n be_v stamp_v upon_o his_o sanctification_n this_o you_o shall_v ever_o find_v to_o be_v the_o stamp_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o the_o more_o you_o receive_v from_o he_o the_o more_o need_v you_o stand_v in_o of_o he_o insomuch_o that_o notwithstanding_o all_o the_o gift_n of_o more_o your_o gift_n be_v if_o you_o sit_v loose_a from_o christ_n the_o empty_a your_o heart_n be_v of_o he_o but_o you_o will_v say_v may_v not_o a_o christian_a be_v sometime_o full_a of_o himself_o and_o depend_v upon_o the_o strength_n of_o his_o own_o gift_n yes_o brethren_n god_n forbid_v i_o shall_v deny_v that_o for_o the_o best_a christian_n have_v go_v astray_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o their_o best_a gift_n and_o hereupon_o abraham_n have_v be_v want_v in_o faith_n and_o moses_n in_o meekness_n and_o peter_n in_o courage_n and_o sarah_n in_o her_o modesty_n they_o have_v be_v so_o apt_a to_o trust_v upon_o those_o grace_n of_o god_n wherein_o they_o have_v most_o abound_v that_o they_o have_v principal_o fail_v therein_o but_o this_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o if_o they_o have_v be_v overtake_v once_o or_o twice_o as_o the_o burn_a child_n dread_v the_o fire_n so_o they_o grow_v to_o be_v more_o sensible_a of_o their_o need_n of_o jesus_n christ_n more_o end_n shall_v we_o employ_v it_o see_v the_o lord_n undertake_v to_o do_v these_o thing_n for_o we_o if_o so_o be_v it_o answ_n that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n by_o his_o spirit_n give_v we_o these_o gift_n it_o be_v our_o part_n then_o first_o to_o see_v that_o we_o do_v not_o rest_v in_o any_o sanctification_n which_o do_v spring_n from_o christ_n convey_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o bless_a spirit_n the_o spirit_n knit_v we_o unto_o christ_n and_o christ_n unto_o we_o he_o work_v faith_n in_o we_o to_o receive_v whatsoever_o the_o lord_n give_v unto_o we_o and_o by_o the_o same_o faith_n work_v all_o our_o holiness_n for_o we_o 1_o cor._n 1.30_o christ_n be_v make_v unto_o we_o of_o god_n wis_v dom_n and_o righteousness_n and_o sanctification_n and_o redemption_n therefore_o we_o be_v to_o see_v he_o principal_a author_n of_o all_o these_o thing_n in_o we_o and_o for_o we_o this_o be_v the_o principal_a comfort_n of_o all_o and_o the_o glory_n of_o all_o our_o safety_n and_o so_o far_o as_o any_o of_o these_o lie_v in_o our_o sanctification_n we_o ought_v to_o see_v that_o it_o be_v sanctification_n in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o than_o it_o be_v sanctification_n in_o jesus_n christ_n when_o the_o lord_n give_v we_o to_o look_v unto_o the_o lord_n jesus_n in_o it_o and_o to_o it_o in_o he_o and_o as_o we_o look_v for_o our_o holiness_n to_o be_v perfect_a in_o jesus_n christ_n so_o we_o look_v for_o continual_a supply_n of_o it_o from_o he_o and_o this_o it_o be_v to_o make_v christ_n our_o sanctification_n when_o as_o whatsoever_o gift_n the_o lord_n give_v we_o we_o go_v not_o forth_o in_o the_o strength_n of_o it_o but_o in_o the_o strength_n of_o jesus_n christ_n there_o may_v be_v a_o change_n in_o the_o soul_n which_o may_v spring_v from_o a_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n and_o may_v captivate_v our_o conscience_n unto_o the_o law_n that_o may_v restrain_v we_o from_o sin_n and_o constrain_v we_o unto_o duty_n but_o such_o holiness_n spring_v not_o from_o union_n with_o jesus_n christ_n for_o there_o may_v be_v a_o conscience_n of_o duty_n without_o sense_n of_o our_o need_n of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o israelite_n at_o mount_n sinai_n deut._n 5.27_o go_v thou_o near_o say_v they_o to_o moses_n and_o hear_v all_o that_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n shall_v say_v and_o speak_v thou_o unto_o we_o all_o that_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n shall_v speak_v unto_o thou_o and_o we_o will_v hear_v it_o and_o do_v it_o they_o have_v well_o say_v all_o that_o they_o have_v speak_v say_v the_o lord_n o_o that_o there_o be_v a_o heart_n in_o they_o that_o they_o will_v fear_v i_o and_o so_o forth_o this_o i_o say_v therefore_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n to_o be_v attend_v unto_o as_o ever_o you_o will_v make_v a_o right_a use_n of_o your_o holiness_n see_v that_o it_o be_v such_o as_o flow_v from_o jesus_n christ_n &_o that_o there_o be_v not_o only_o a_o heart_n awe_v with_o the_o law_n but_o wait_v upon_o jesus_n christ_n to_o be_v all_o in_o all_o in_o we_o and_o to_o we_o so_o shall_v we_o neither_o neglect_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n in_o we_o nor_o christ_n and_o his_o spirit_n but_o shall_v give_v their_o due_a honour_n unto_o all_o of_o they_o together_o 2._o this_o may_v also_o teach_v all_o christian_n not_o to_o trust_v upon_o the_o gift_n of_o their_o holiness_n though_o they_o do_v spring_n from_o the_o holy_a gbost_n himself_o though_o they_o be_v such_o as_o be_v unchangeable_a though_o they_o spring_v from_o jesus_n christ_n and_o knit_v your_o soul_n in_o union_n with_o he_o yet_o trust_v not_o in_o the_o gift_n themselves_o the_o lord_n lay_v it_o down_o as_o the_o apostasy_n of_o israel_n ezek._n 16.14_o 15._o thy_o renown_n go_v forth_o among_o the_o heathen_a for_o thy_o beauty_n for_o it_o be_v perfect_a through_o my_o comeliness_n which_o i_o have_v put_v upon_o thou_o say_v the_o lord_n god_n but_o thou_o do_v trust_v in_o thy_o own_o beauty_n and_o play_v the_o harlot_n etc._n etc._n trust_v not_o therefore_o in_o any_o of_o these_o but_o let_v all_o our_o confidence_n be_v in_o jesus_n christ_n not_o in_o any_o of_o the_o gift_n of_o his_o spirit_n whatsoever_o for_o a_o little_a further_o open_v of_o it_o 1._o trust_v not_o in_o any_o gift_n that_o you_o have_v receive_v for_o the_o performance_n of_o any_o duty_n for_o it_o be_v not_o the_o strong_a christian_a that_o be_v able_a to_o put_v forth_o a_o good_a thought_n 2_o cor._n 3.5_o but_o our_o sufficiency_n be_v of_o god_n he_o that_o abide_v in_o i_o and_o i_o in_o he_o the_o same_o bring_v forth_o much_o fruit_n for_o without_o i_o you_o can_v do_v nothing_o joh._n 15.5_o and_o the_o apostle_n paul_n can_v only_o not_o do_v any_o great_a matter_n by_o his_o own_o strength_n and_o grace_n but_o nothing_o at_o all_o without_o jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o he_o give_v we_o to_o understand_v that_o it_o be_v god_n that_o work_v in_o we_o both_o to_o will_v and_o to_o make_v it_o a_o principle_n of_o christian_a religion_n that_o the_o just_a man_n live_v by_o his_o faith_n and_o he_o often_o mention_v it_o gal._n 2.20_o the_o life_n which_o i_o now_o live_v in_o the_o flesh_n i_o live_v by_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n where_o he_o put_v it_o into_o his_o own_o experience_n why_o do_v he_o not_o live_v by_o love_n and_o patience_n and_o zeal_n etc._n etc._n yes_o true_o they_o be_v lively_a in_o he_o if_o ever_o in_o any_o man_n beside_o our_o bless_a saviour_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o never_o attribute_v life_n to_o any_o of_o these_o gift_n of_o he_o but_o if_o he_o speak_v of_o his_o life_n he_o make_v this_o his_o universal_a life_n i_o live_v by_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o i_o be_o i_o be_o able_a to_o do_v all_o thing_n through_o christ_n which_o strengthen_v i_o phil._n 4.13_o this_o be_v the_o true_a savour_n of_o a_o christian_a spirit_n that_o when_o gift_n be_v at_o the_o high_a the_o be_v true_o spiritual_a sanctification_n that_o when_o the_o soul_n be_v full_a of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n yet_o he_o be_v like_o a_o man_n in_o great_a penury_n as_o have_v nothing_o of_o himself_o this_o be_v a_o marvellous_a spiritual_a poverty_n and_o you_o shall_v ever_o find_v and_o i_o desire_v the_o lord_n will_v open_v the_o heart_n of_o his_o
