let_v we_o willing_o be_v content_v to_o be_v rule_v by_o he_o be_v certify_v of_o his_o love_n and_o goodness_n towards_o we_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v in_o truth_n make_v this_o protestation_n it_o as_o that_o we_o may_v whole_o submit_v ourselves_o unto_o it_o know_v that_o when_o it_o shall_v come_v in_o question_n for_o we_o too_o remit_v ourselves_o and_o cleave_v unto_o he_o as_o he_o require_v that_o we_o must_v forsake_v the_o whole_a world_n and_o all_o our_o carnal_a affection_n which_o any_o way_n hinder_v we_o from_o come_v unto_o he_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v so_o climb_v up_o unto_o his_o majesty_n as_o that_o not_o fear_v the_o world_n nor_o all_o his_o assault_n we_o may_v put_v our_o whole_a confidence_n in_o his_o merciful_a goodness_n and_o bold_o present_v we_o before_o his_o face_n to_o the_o end_n the_o may_v receive_v we_o so_o that_o we_o may_v always_o be_v govern_v through_o his_o holy_a spirit_n until_o such_o time_n as_o he_o have_v bring_v we_o that_o which_o we_o oftentimes_o have_v before_o see_v to_o wit_n that_o david_n his_o chief_a desire_n be_v this_o to_o be_v due_o and_o true_o instruct_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o therein_o to_o be_v confirm_v for_o he_o take_v such_o pleasure_n in_o it_o as_o that_o all_o the_o rest_n be_v little_a or_o nothing_o worth_a unto_o he_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o same_o now_o it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o he_o have_v already_o sufficient_o speak_v of_o this_o matter_n and_o yet_o that_o which_o he_o present_o add_v be_v not_o supperfluous_a especial_o if_o we_o consider_v in_o what_o sort_n our_o carnal_a desire_n rule_v us._n for_o that_o be_v it_o which_o let_v we_o that_o we_o can_v not_o only_o have_v that_o fervency_n which_o david_n have_v to_o seek_v thorough_o to_o profit_v in_o the_o school_n of_o god_n but_o we_o scarce_o have_v so_o much_o as_o any_o small_a desire_n and_o therefore_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v we_o be_v too_o too_o much_o nuzzele_v in_o our_o earthly_a affection_n wherefore_o this_o be_v a_o lesson_n which_o ought_v many_o time_n too_o put_v we_o in_o mind_n that_o if_o we_o will_v pray_v unto_o god_n according_a unto_o his_o will_n we_o must_v not_o come_v unto_o he_o with_o a_o desire_n of_o our_o own_o to_o say_v whatsoever_o come_v in_o our_o brain_n yea_o and_o to_o leave_v out_o the_o most_o principal_a part_n but_o we_o must_v begin_v with_o this_o say_n to_o wit_n that_o it_o will_v please_v god_n so_o to_o instruct_v we_o as_o that_o our_o life_n may_v be_v square_v according_a to_o his_o law_n and_o we_o to_o cleave_v so_o unto_o it_o as_o not_o to_o come_v with_o a_o double_a and_o twyfold_o heart_n although_o we_o be_v to_o strive_v against_o the_o world_n and_o our_o own_o nature_n yet_o must_v we_o remain_v constant_a in_o this_o chief_o to_o love_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o for_o this_o cause_n david_n here_o say_v let_v my_o complaint_n come_v before_o thou_o o_o lord_n and_o give_v i_o understanding_n according_a unto_o thy_o word_n when_o he_o speak_v of_o his_o complaint_n which_o he_o make_v unto_o the_o lord_n he_o show_v that_o he_o make_v no_o cold_a prayer_n unto_o god_n as_o we_o many_o time_n and_o as_o it_o be_v daily_o do_v but_o with_o great_a vehemency_n i_o can_v not_o deny_v but_o that_o a_o hypocrite_n may_v very_o well_o make_v complaint_n with_o a_o loud_a noise_n and_o thrust_v out_o his_o weasaunt_n but_o david_n have_v here_o consideration_n of_o god_n mean_v not_o to_o make_v a_o outward_a show_n before_o man_n wherefore_o that_o he_o cry_v out_o aloud_o import_v as_o much_o as_o a_o earnest_a testimony_n wherewith_o he_o be_v prick_v forward_o now_o by_o this_o we_o see_v that_o he_o chief_o desire_v that_o which_o he_o crave_v to_o wit_n to_o have_v god_n to_o instruct_v he_o and_o to_o give_v he_o understanding_n and_o in_o desire_v this_o gift_n of_o god_n he_o confess_v that_o he_o be_v of_o himself_o a_o very_a wretched_a blind_a soul_n that_o he_o never_o understand_v any_o thing_n yea_o although_o he_o have_v the_o law_n in_o his_o hand_n which_o he_o may_v read_v wherein_o be_v contain_v a_o true_a perfection_n of_o all_o wisdom_n yet_o that_o he_o still_o continue_v even_o like_o a_o poor_a miserable_a blind_a wretch_n except_o god_n enlighten_v he_o so_o then_o let_v we_o understande_v that_o this_o be_v a_o especial_a gift_n which_o god_n bestow_v upon_o we_o when_o he_o open_v our_o eye_n too_o make_v we_o understande_v that_o which_o be_v show_v in_o his_o word_n whether_o we_o read_v it_o or_o that_o it_o be_v preach_v unto_o us._n yea_o and_o let_v we_o not_o here_o make_v any_o exception_n think_v ourselves_o to_o be_v more_o sharp_a witted_a or_o able_a than_o david_n be_v but_o let_v we_o rather_o know_v that_o if_o he_o need_v to_o beseech_v god_n to_o give_v he_o understanding_n that_o we_o for_o our_o part_n have_v as_o great_a need_n so_o then_o it_o can_v not_o be_v choose_v but_o that_o when_o god_n have_v deliver_v unto_o we_o his_o word_n and_o declare_v his_o will_n therein_o contain_v and_o for_o performance_n hereof_o inlighten_v our_o heart_n by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n for_o other_o way_n we_o shall_v have_v our_o care_n beat_v in_o vain_a and_o then_o the_o doctrine_n which_o we_o have_v hear_v will_v do_v we_o no_o good_a now_o that_o which_o follow_v according_a unto_o thy_o word_n may_v two_o way_n beset_v forth_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o thou_o will_v make_v i_o wise_a and_o after_o what_o manner_n that_o i_o be_v altogether_o rule_v by_o thou_o and_o do_v that_o which_o thou_o command_v this_o be_v a_o very_a true_a say_n for_o by_o this_o we_o be_v admonish_v to_o hear_v god_n speak_v and_o we_o again_o must_v suffer_v he_o to_o have_v dominion_n over_o we_o and_o not_o to_o be_v overtake_v with_o this_o fooolish_a arrogancy_n and_o say_v i_o have_v knowledge_n enough_o i_o need_v not_o so_o much_o the_o action_n of_o his_o life_n for_o the_o life_n of_o man_n be_v call_v a_o way_n and_o that_o not_o without_o cause_n for_o all_o our_o thought_n and_o affection_n be_v as_o way_n and_o as_o our_o footstep_n now_o he_o say_v o_o that_o my_o way_n be_v make_v so_o direct_a that_o i_o may_v keep_v thy_o commandment_n herein_o he_o declare_v that_o a_o faithful_a man_n after_o he_o have_v know_v this_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o guide_v our_o life_n aught_o to_o enter_v into_o himself_o and_o think_v that_o there_o be_v neither_o reason_n nor_o wisdom_n in_o he_o how_o to_o govern_v himself_o but_o that_o all_o proceed_v from_o the_o good_a will_n and_o love_a kindness_n of_o the_o lord_n sithence_o then_o that_o we_o be_v so_o incline_v to_o rove_v in_o our_o own_o way_n hither_o and_o thither_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o foolish_a presumption_n and_o vain_a confidence_n which_o we_o have_v of_o our_o own_o wisdom_n let_v we_o use_v such_o remedy_n as_o god_n have_v assign_v we_o to_o weet_v that_o we_o forsake_v ourselves_o and_o tread_v under_o foot_n this_o carnal_a reason_n which_o deceive_v we_o that_o we_o set_v at_o naught_o all_o our_o lust_n and_o ungodly_a affection_n that_o god_n only_o may_v bear_v rule_n and_o our_o life_n be_v guide_v according_a to_o his_o his_o law_n it_o follow_v then_o shall_v i_o not_o be_v confound_v when_o i_o have_v respect_n to_o all_o thy_o commandment_n here_o david_n confirm_v himself_o in_o the_o doctrine_n next_o before_o for_o he_o declare_v what_o the_o mark_n be_v whereat_o he_o aim_v o_o lord_n say_v he_o when_o as_o thou_o so_o many_o enemy_n rebel_a against_o god_n and_o which_o hinder_v we_o to_o walk_v after_o his_o will_n we_o ought_v therefore_o to_o pray_v unto_o he_o that_o he_o will_v hold_v we_o in_o that_o he_o may_v be_v our_o master_n &_o we_o his_o vassal_n moreover_o let_v we_o consider_v well_o of_o that_o which_o be_v here_o speak_v to_o weet_v that_o in_o keep_v the_o comaundemente_n of_o god_n we_o shall_v never_o be_v confound_v by_o this_o he_o do_v we_o to_o understand_v that_o so_o many_o as_o follow_v their_o own_o lust_n &_o fantasy_n which_o look_v this_o way_n &_o that_o way_n and_o do_v imagine_v themselves_o a_o mark_n &_o forge_v themselves_o such_o away_o as_o seem_v good_a in_o their_o own_o sight_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v confound_v and_o deceive_v no_o doubt_n when_o man_n do_v that_o which_o best_o like_v themselves_o they_o straightways_o think_v all_o thing_n shall_v go_v so_o well_o with_o they_o as_o be_v possible_a to_o be_v wish_v glory_v in_o their_o own_o vain_a imagination_n but_o what_o follow_v thereof_o god_n confound_v they_o in_o their_o own_o arrogancy_n wherewith_o they_o be_v puff_v up_o for_o a_o time_n will_v we_o eschew_v this_o confusion_n of_o the_o unbelieve_a person_n let_v we_o have_v a_o eye_n to_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n let_v our_o eye_n be_v settle_v on_o they_o and_o look_v not_o on_o our_o own_o reason_n nor_o of_o our_o natural_a sense_n neither_o yet_o of_o any_o other_o thing_n that_o lie_v in_o our_o own_o power_n which_o may_v turn_v we_o away_o from_o they_o and_o it_o be_v a_o necessary_a point_n for_o we_o to_o be_v enfourm_v thereof_o for_o as_o often_o as_o man_n will_v give_v themselves_o leave_v to_o imagine_v and_o think_v what_o they_o listen_v to_o have_v do_v there_o shall_v a_o thousand_o thought_n for_o close_a their_o mind_n and_o so_o will_v turn_v they_o away_o from_o god_n and_o whole_o estrange_v they_o from_o the_o doctrine_n of_o salvation_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n david_n declare_v that_o there_o be_v but_o one_o only_a mean_a to_o wit_n that_o we_o shall_v whole_o settle_v our_o eye_n upon_o the_o law_n of_o god_n without_o turn_v away_o from_o it_o either_o on_o this_o side_n or_o on_o that_o as_o common_o and_o usual_o we_o do_v afterward_o he_o go_v on_o and_o say_v i_o will_v praise_v thou_o with_o a_o upright_o heart_n when_o i_o shall_v learn_v the_o judgement_n of_o thy_o righteousness_n david_n show_v in_o this_o verse_n how_o we_o may_v praise_v the_o lord_n our_o god_n and_o that_o be_v continual_o follow_v the_o plainness_n of_o his_o matter_n for_o we_o must_v all_o confess_v that_o our_o life_n be_v miserable_a if_o it_o tend_v not_o to_o the_o praise_n and_o glorify_v of_o god_n let_v we_o now_o see_v how_o we_o may_v praise_v he_o we_o must_v be_v exercise_v in_o his_o judgement_n that_o be_v in_o the_o rule_n which_o he_o have_v set_v down_o unto_o us._n for_o this_o word_n judgement_n import_v that_o we_o be_v teach_v and_o instruct_v of_o that_o which_o we_o have_v to_o do_v for_o our_o life_n be_v outrageous_a if_o we_o pass_v the_o limit_n and_o bound_n which_o he_o have_v appoint_v we_o and_o contrariwyse_o we_o keep_v a_o true_a uprightness_n in_o obey_v of_o he_o now_o than_o he_o say_v that_o when_o he_o shall_v have_v learn_v the_o righteous_a judgement_n of_o god_n that_o then_o he_o will_v thank_v he_o with_o a_o unfeigned_a heart_n by_o this_o he_o signify_v unto_o we_o that_o although_o man_n persuade_v themselves_o to_o love_n god_n as_o much_o as_o be_v possible_a nevertheless_o that_o it_o be_v but_o feign_a until_o such_o time_n as_o they_o be_v unfeigned_o instruct_v in_o the_o law_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o that_o moreover_o here_o be_v to_o be_v note_v that_o that_o be_v not_o all_o which_o we_o have_v learn_v that_o god_n show_v unto_o we_o in_o his_o word_n but_o david_n speak_v here_o of_o a_o instruction_n which_o take_v root_n and_o be_v settle_v and_o abide_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o man_n according_a to_o that_o which_o have_v heretofore_o be_v say_v for_o a_o number_n may_v imagine_v of_o their_o own_o brain_n what_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o it_o stand_v so_o with_o they_o that_o when_o we_o behold_v their_o life_n and_o conversation_n it_o appear_v that_o they_o have_v profit_v no_o whit_n at_o all_o in_o his_o school_n it_o be_v meet_v therefore_o that_o out_o heart_n be_v bring_v to_o the_o school_n of_o god_n to_o weet_v that_o whatsoever_o he_o teach_v we_o it_o may_v be_v thorough_o imprint_v and_o engrave_v within_o and_o this_o be_v that_o manner_n of_o learning_n whereof_o david_n here_o speak_v for_o if_o we_o have_v be_v exercise_v in_o this_o sort_n that_o we_o have_v hold_v the_o doctrine_n and_o law_n of_o god_n we_o may_v very_o well_o glorify_v his_o bless_a name_n to_o weet_v we_o may_v true_o praise_v he_o as_o he_o have_v command_v us._n when_o he_o say_v i_o will_v keep_v thy_o statute_n that_o be_v that_o he_o be_v so_o resolve_a and_o confirm_v in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o law_n that_o he_o have_v overcome_v all_o the_o affection_n and_o lust_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o the_o world_n which_o may_v resist_v and_o hinder_v he_o in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n he_o have_v say_v before_o o_o that_o my_o way_n be_v make_v so_o direct_a he_o desire_v as_o a_o man_n which_o when_o he_o can_v have_v that_o which_o he_o wish_v for_o be_v in_o great_a pain_n and_o travel_v it_o behove_v we_o also_o to_o pour_v out_o such_o sigh_n &_o groan_n consider_v the_o rebellion_n of_o our_o flesh_n which_o be_v so_o contrary_a to_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n that_o all_o our_o thought_n and_o affection_n as_o be_v abovesaid_a be_v so_o many_o gainesayinge_n that_o they_o turn_v we_o clean_o away_o from_o his_o obeisance_n we_o must_v therefore_o say_v
with_o david_n alas_o how_o be_v it_o possible_a that_o i_o shall_v be_v ever_o able_a to_o come_v to_o the_o perfect_a serve_v of_o my_o god_n to_o trust_v upon_o he_o and_o whole_o to_o settle_v myself_o upon_o that_o rule_n and_o order_n which_o he_o have_v set_v down_o unto_o i_o loe_o i_o say_v these_o shall_v be_v our_o wish_n and_o desire_n but_o this_o be_v not_o sufficient_a enough_o to_o have_v a_o desire_n that_o we_o may_v serve_v god_n but_o there_o be_v yet_o much_o more_o as_o when_o we_o shall_v desire_v that_o god_n will_v push_v we_o forward_o and_o stir_v we_o up_o thereto_o and_o yet_o we_o must_v not_o stay_v there_o neither_o what_o must_v we_o then_o do_v let_v we_o step_v forth_o with_o david_n and_o protest_v that_o we_o will_v keep_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n when_o we_o have_v fight_v against_o our_o inordinate_a affection_n and_o that_o we_o be_v assure_v to_o have_v victory_n over_o they_o that_o we_o then_o make_v this_o conclusion_n god_n shall_v so_o conduct_v i_o that_o i_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o keep_v his_o statute_n as_o for_o the_o rest_n because_o we_o can_v not_o have_v this_o as_o of_o ourselves_o we_o be_v always_o to_o pray_v as_o david_n do_v o_o lord_n forsake_v i_o not_o utter_o for_o if_o god_n withhold_v his_o holy_a hand_n from_o we_o alas_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o be_v it_o possible_a for_o we_o to_o have_v one_o good_a desire_n or_o thought_n in_o we_o no_o it_o be_v impossible_a but_o we_o shall_v whole_o decline_v to_o all_o evil_a and_o mischief_n yea_o and_o we_o shall_v become_v his_o enemy_n and_o adversary_n we_o must_v therefore_o have_v all_o our_o refuge_n from_o god_n beseech_v he_o with_o david_n that_o he_o will_v not_o forsake_v us._n when_o he_o say_v o_o lord_n forsake_v i_o not_o overlong_o he_o signify_v unto_o we_o that_o god_n many_o time_n suffer_v we_o to_o go_v wrong_n &_o suffer_v we_o to_o fall_v or_o else_o to_o stumble_v and_o why_o do_v he_o so_o because_o he_o will_v humble_v we_o for_o what_o be_v he_o which_o go_v not_o out_o of_o the_o way_n or_o at_o the_o least_o halt_v not_o and_o which_o oftentimes_o fall_v not_o flat_o down_o but_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o he_o will_v not_o have_v we_o discourage_v when_o then_o we_o see_v our_o weakness_n and_o that_o there_o be_v many_o fault_n and_o imperfection_n in_o us._n let_v we_o beseech_v the_o lord_n our_o god_n that_o he_o will_v not_o forsake_v we_o for_o ever_o for_o there_o be_v no_o difficulty_n which_o david_n will_v not_o but_o that_o we_o shall_v know_v and_o he_o know_v a_o great_a many_o of_o fault_n in_o himself_o but_o yet_o he_o hope_v that_o god_n will_v not_o forsake_v he_o for_o ever_o and_o he_o know_v also_o that_o though_o he_o happen_v oftentimes_o to_o fall_v yet_o that_o he_o will_v relieve_v he_o by_o his_o grace_n and_o this_o be_v his_o meaning_n also_o what_o we_o must_v do_v for_o we_o know_v this_o that_o there_o be_v no_o man_n which_o whole_o keep_v the_o law_n of_o god_n we_o be_v all_o transgressor_n thereof_o we_o be_v all_o miserable_a sinner_n we_o must_v therefore_o run_v unto_o our_o good_a god_n and_o beseech_v he_o that_o when_o we_o be_v fall_v that_o he_o will_v relieve_v we_o through_o his_o fatherly_a goodness_n as_o he_o be_v always_o ready_a to_o do_v and_o that_o he_o have_v promise_v affection_n nor_o desire_n to_o give_v himself_o thereto_o until_o such_o time_n as_o his_o heart_n be_v reform_v the_o law_n of_o god_n may_v seem_v to_o be_v but_o a_o common_a thing_n yea_o we_o do_v as_o we_o take_v it_o and_o why_o so_o for_o say_v he_o he_o must_v keep_v it_o with_o his_o whole_a heart_n when_o he_o mean_v to_o show_v unto_o we_o what_o the_o good_a keep_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v and_o such_o a_o observation_n as_o god_n require_v of_o we_o it_o be_v not_o only_o mean_v that_o our_o foot_n and_o hand_n shall_v be_v see_v to_o be_v well_o rule_v and_o compass_v that_o our_o sin_n and_o iniquity_n shall_v be_v so_o apparent_a as_o that_o they_o may_v be_v condemn_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o world_n this_o say_v i_o be_v not_o all_o as_o to_o use_v such_o a_o observation_n but_o we_o must_v say_v david_n keep_v the_o law_n of_o god_n with_o our_o whole_a heart_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v never_o so_o little_o affect_v or_o desirous_a thereto_o it_o shall_v be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o worth_a than_o all_o the_o substance_n in_o the_o world_n but_o we_o must_v beware_v that_o we_o have_v not_o a_o double_a heart_n that_o our_o desire_n be_v respect_n to_o the_o heart_n all_o my_o carnal_a passion_n and_o affection_n must_v be_v pull_v down_o &_o myself_o in_o such_o sort_n renew_v as_o that_o i_o may_v be_v whole_o conform_v unto_o thy_o great_o be_o i_o bind_v and_o behold_v to_o my_o god_n loe_o a_o man_n will_v think_v that_o these_o man_n be_v well_o affect_v but_o in_o the_o turn_n of_o a_o hand_n no_o doubt_n it_o be_v soon_o forget_v or_o at_o the_o least_o if_o they_o remember_v it_o a_o little_a while_n they_o wax_v cold_a again_o and_o think_v no_o more_o of_o it_o since_o than_o it_o be_v so_o let_v we_o mark_v from_o all_o these_o vain_a and_o perverse_a desire_n &_o lust_n and_o to_o fight_v against_o all_o whatsoever_o may_v hinder_v we_o to_o come_v unto_o god_n and_o when_o we_o have_v thus_o repress_v our_o passion_n and_o fleshly_a lust_n let_v we_o then_o desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o that_o god_n will_v draw_v we_o unto_o himself_o link_v we_o unto_o he_o and_o grant_v we_o the_o grace_n to_o this_o of_o his_o own_o goodness_n and_o that_o we_o know_v why_o it_o be_v that_o god_n give_v we_o so_o many_o benefit_n aswell_o for_o this_o present_a life_n as_o also_o for_o the_o health_n of_o our_o soul_n to_o wit_n because_o he_o have_v pity_n and_o compassion_n upon_o we_o and_o that_o we_o be_v miserable_a and_o poor_a creature_n without_o he_o incline_v himself_o to_o be_v merciful_a unto_o us._n to_o be_v short_a before_o we_o enter_v into_o all_o the_o particular_a prayer_n which_o we_o make_v untof_o god_n let_v we_o begin_v at_o this_o end_n and_o let_v it_o be_v the_o foundation_n whereon_o we_o must_v build_v that_o god_n have_v pity_n and_o compassion_n upon_o us._n now_o because_o we_o shall_v be_v assure_v in_o our_o prayer_n david_n add_v this_o which_o heal_v so_o but_o let_v we_o rather_o stir_v up_o ourselves_o to_o groan_v yea_o to_o cry_v out_o with_o a_o loud_a voice_n beseech_v god_n too_o stretch_v forth_o his_o mighty_a and_o strong_a arm_n against_o such_o villain_n &_o fire_n brand_n of_o hell_n such_o upholder_n of_o satan_n which_o thus_o come_v too_o defile_v the_o sacred_a and_o holy_a thing_n of_o god_n which_o his_o majesty_n have_v set_v before_o we_o for_o our_o salvation_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o point_n and_o again_o let_v we_o not_o only_o be_v grieve_v and_o sorrowefull_a because_o there_o be_v in_o we_o rebellious_a affection_n which_o so_o hinder_v we_o as_o that_o we_o can_v take_v any_o such_o taste_n as_o be_v to_o be_v wish_v for_o in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o also_o when_o as_o we_o see_v that_o man_n so_o light_o esteem_v and_o forget_v this_o word_n of_o god_n that_o they_o outrage_n in_o all_o wickedness_n it_o can_v not_o be_v but_o that_o we_o must_v be_v grieve_v and_o sorrowefull_a for_o the_o same_o and_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o further_a matter_n to_o be_v require_v at_o our_o hand_n which_o be_v this_o that_o when_o we_o shall_v see_v and_o hear_v the_o name_n of_o god_n to_o be_v blaspheme_v and_o his_o majesty_n violate_v we_o shall_v be_v torment_v and_o feel_v a_o great_a grief_n for_o the_o same_o then_o for_o all_o the_o evil_a that_o may_v come_v unto_o ourselves_o for_o it_o be_v very_o good_a reason_n that_o the_o majesty_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v more_o dear_a unto_o we_o without_o all_o comparison_n than_o our_o own_o person_n and_o life_n now_o since_o it_o be_v so_o that_o if_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v sorrowefull_a when_o as_o we_o see_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o be_v forget_v by_o other_o even_o to_o begin_v at_o the_o best_a end_n if_o the_o evil_n be_v find_v in_o we_o as_o satan_n move_v we_o to_o fall_v unto_o wickedness_n and_o we_o be_v very_o far_o of_o from_o true_o serve_v of_o god_n and_o look_v to_o his_o word_n with_o such_o fear_n and_o humility_n as_o in_o deed_n we_o ought_v since_o then_o i_o say_v we_o be_v so_o great_o to_o be_v amend_v that_o we_o have_v so_o many_o sin_n fight_v against_o the_o law_n of_o god_n even_o so_o much_o the_o more_o ought_v we_o to_o sigh_v and_o groan_n as_o saint_n paul_n right_a well_o show_v we_o say_v oh_o accurse_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o out_o this_o mortal_a body_n loe_o here_o saint_n paul_n in_o show_v their_o condition_n &_o state_n to_o be_v miserable_a which_o live_v in_o this_o world_n exhort_v they_o to_o groan_v and_o to_o a_o continual_a sorrow_n and_o care_n because_o they_o be_v not_o able_a full_o and_o thorough_o to_o yield_v themselves_o to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n so_o that_o whensoever_o we_o shall_v do_v but_o even_o so_o much_o we_o shall_v render_v a_o true_a proufe_v and_o testimony_n of_o our_o faith_n &_o christianity_n now_o it_o follow_v soon_o after_o thy_o word_n be_v prove_v most_o pure_a and_o thy_o servant_n love_v it_o here_o it_o very_o seem_v as_o we_o have_v before_o say_v that_o david_n bring_v in_o a_o most_o manifest_a sentence_n yea_o know_v even_o unto_o the_o simple_a to_o wit_n that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v pure_a and_o clean_a without_o spot_n and_o blemish_v but_o what_o let_v we_o see_v a_o little_a whether_o we_o put_v this_o purity_n in_o practice_n or_o not_o alas_o we_o be_v far_o from_o it_o for_o even_o then_o we_o may_v say_v the_o word_n of_o god_n too_o be_v pure_a and_o without_o spot_n when_o as_o without_o any_o gaynesay_n we_o only_o trust_v in_o he_o and_o that_o we_o have_v a_o true_a certainty_n of_o our_o salvation_n because_o he_o have_v once_o stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n unto_o we_o and_o promise_v never_o too_o fail_v us._n when_o then_o we_o shall_v have_v such_o a_o confidence_n in_o god_n that_o we_o may_v bold_o walk_v through_o death_n and_o the_o very_a gulf_n of_o hell_n that_o in_o see_v the_o bottomless_a pit_n open_v too_o swallow_v we_o up_o we_o shall_v not_o doubt_v of_o our_o saufetie_n since_o that_o we_o be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n lo_o how_o the_o word_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v pure_a unto_o us._n but_o now_o be_v we_o all_o in_o a_o clean_a contrary_a vain_a and_o from_o whence_o come_v this_o it_o be_v because_o we_o be_v full_a of_o infinite_a filthiness_n and_o pollution_n to_o be_v short_a there_o be_v nothing_o but_o stench_n in_o we_o and_o all_o our_o sense_n be_v defile_v let_v we_o first_o begin_v at_o our_o eye_n and_o we_o shall_v have_v such_o a_o number_n of_o filthy_a troublesome_a and_o glimpse_a gloating_n to_o wit_n such_o a_o number_n of_o vanity_n which_o hinder_v we_o too_o know_v the_o purity_n that_o be_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o lo_o we_o have_v already_o lose_v one_o of_o our_o sense_n afterward_o we_o be_v deprive_v of_o our_o hear_n because_o our_o ear_n be_v so_o fill_v with_o such_o trifle_a yea_o and_o perverse_a matter_n that_o we_o can_v give_v no_o ear_n unto_o god_n or_o else_o that_o which_o enter_v in_o at_o one_o ear_n go_v out_o at_o another_o as_o we_o say_v now_o if_o this_o be_v already_o a_o great_a vice_n in_o we_o to_o be_v so_o slack_a as_o to_o receive_v but_o one_o good_a lesson_n the_o second_o be_v no_o whit_n less_o that_o when_o we_o shall_v have_v get_v even_o a_o very_a little_a it_o shall_v incontinent_a so_o melt_v away_o from_o we_o as_o that_o we_o shall_v never_o think_v more_o of_o it_o we_o see_v how_o jolly_a and_o frisk_a our_o foot_n and_o hand_n be_v when_o as_o we_o hear_v any_o talk_n of_o ribaldry_n and_o filthiness_n and_o altogether_o dull_a and_o senseless_a when_o any_o speech_n be_v of_o virtue_n and_o godliness_n there_o be_v never_o a_o finger_n in_o our_o hand_n but_o will_v be_v as_o good_a as_o a_o raysour_n to_o cut_v even_o to_o the_o quick_a if_o any_o talk_n shall_v be_v have_v to_o offend_v the_o majesty_n of_o god_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o we_o shall_v not_o find_v one_o man_n that_o will_v once_o lift_v himself_o up_o too_o do_v any_o good_a see_v how_o all_o our_o sense_n be_v corrupt_a and_o how_o full_a of_o pollution_n and_o filthiness_n and_o this_o be_v it_o which_o hinder_v we_o that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a to_o know_v how_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v to_o be_v try_v now_o it_o follow_v i_o be_o small_a and_o of_o no_o reputation_n yet_o do_v i_o not_o forget_v thy_o commandment_n this_o say_n here_o import_v more_o than_o at_o the_o first_o sight_n it_o seem_v to_o do_v it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o it_o shall_v seem_v a_o far_o hard_a matter_n for_o the_o mighty_a man_n of_o this_o world_n to_o serve_v god_n then_o the_o mean_a sort_n in_o so_o much_o as_o we_o will_v never_o account_v it_o strange_a if_o a_o man_n of_o base_a condition_n have_v not_o forget_v the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o we_o so_o great_o prattle_v jangle_n and_o lift_v up_o ourselves_o so_o arrogant_o against_o he_o and_o that_o we_o submit_v not_o ourselves_o whole_o unto_o he_o forsooth_o even_o the_o very_a honour_n and_o delight_n of_o this_o world_n be_v oftentimes_o the_o chief_a cause_n when_o a_o man_n shall_v be_v in_o any_o credit_n estimation_n and_o reputation_n he_o imagine_v unto_o himself_o a_o idol_n in_o his_o own_o heart_n and_o hereupon_o forget_v god_n and_o think_v himself_o to_o be_v no_o long_o under_o his_o government_n when_o then_o our_o lord_n god_n hold_v we_o in_o a_o low_a estate_n he_o put_v we_o in_o mind_n and_o force_v we_o by_o this_o mean_v not_o to_o forget_v his_o commandment_n and_o to_o walk_v in_o his_o fear_n with_o all_o humility_n but_o david_n his_o meaning_n tend_v to_o another_o end_n that_o be_v although_o he_o be_v as_o it_o be_v contemn_v yet_o cease_v he_o not_o to_o love_v god_n now_o as_o i_o have_v say_v this_o be_v not_o here_o set_v down_o without_o cause_n it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o when_o god_n liberal_o bestow_v upon_o we_o great_a store_n of_o benefit_n then_o be_v we_o so_o blockish_a as_o that_o we_o think_v ourselves_o least_o beholden_a unto_o he_o and_o contrariwise_o they_o upon_o who_o he_o have_v not_o bestow_v such_o grace_n think_v themselves_o for_o their_o part_n not_o so_o great_o bind_v unto_o he_o and_o in_o very_a deed_n the_o world_n will_v always_o find_v start_v hole_n to_o keep_v itself_o out_o from_o the_o service_n
afflict_v we_o so_o that_o we_o be_v grievous_o vex_v until_o we_o can_v no_o more_o loe_o here_o a_o good_a trial_n to_o make_v we_o feel_v that_o we_o have_v willing_o and_o in_o earnest_n honour_v he_o in_o his_o word_n and_o we_o shall_v show_v it_o too_o be_v so_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v not_o change_v our_o mind_n but_o constant_o persevere_v in_o it_o and_o say_v whether_o shall_v i_o now_o run_v see_v how_o i_o be_o afflict_v well_o it_o be_v my_o god_n that_o must_v restore_v i_o it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o i_o be_o not_o without_o great_a store_n of_o sorrow_n and_o grief_n which_o trouble_v i_o but_o yet_o i_o will_v content_v myself_o with_o this_o that_o god_n love_v i_o it_o be_v true_a that_o as_o touch_v the_o world_n i_o be_o torment_v but_o i_o will_v comfort_v myself_o that_o my_o god_n have_v call_v i_o unto_o he_o that_o he_o show_v unto_o i_o in_o deed_n that_o he_o will_v have_v compassion_n upon_o i_o that_o he_o take_v i_o for_o one_o of_o his_o child_n and_o will_v extend_v his_o fatherly_a goodness_n towards_o i_o see_v here_o a_o very_a good_a proufe_v and_o trial_n that_o we_o take_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o be_v true_a and_o righteous_a that_o be_v that_o if_o we_o be_v grieve_v with_o trouble_n and_o adversity_n yet_o that_o we_o do_v never_o forget_v he_o nor_o it_o but_o what_o let_v we_o once_o come_v to_o the_o practice_n thereof_o and_o then_o we_o shall_v see_v how_o it_o fare_v with_o us._n for_o it_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o nothing_o too_o lend_v our_o ear_n and_o say_v sure_o this_o be_v a_o very_a good_a sermon_n &_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o teach_v in_o it_o but_o very_o good_a and_o wholesome_a doctrine_n and_o true_o if_o we_o have_v once_o say_v but_o even_o thus_o much_o we_o will_v by_o and_o by_o think_v that_o god_n be_v great_o in_o our_o debt_n a_o man_n that_o come_v thus_o even_o with_o the_o ear_n of_o a_o ass_n to_o play_v the_o hypocrite_n think_v verly_o that_o god_n be_v bind_v unto_o he_o because_o he_o have_v do_v he_o thus_o much_o honour_n now_o this_o be_v a_o overgrosse_v and_o impudent_a kind_n of_o dissemble_v in_o this_o manner_n to_o think_v to_o please_v the_o majesty_n of_o god_n but_o yet_o the_o case_n so_o stand_v as_o that_o the_o great_a part_n be_v even_o so_o give_v now_o what_o be_v the_o next_o way_n for_o we_o too_o be_v rid_v of_o all_o together_o forsooth_o even_o this_o that_o when_o we_o for_o a_o time_n shall_v make_v a_o show_n to_o give_v diligent_a ear_n unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o all_o whatsoever_o we_o have_v hear_v will_v incontinent_a melt_v and_o vanish_v clean_o away_o from_o us._n and_o hereby_o we_o very_o well_o show_v that_o the_o truth_n and_o righteousness_n which_o be_v in_o his_o word_n be_v not_o so_o imprint_v in_o we_o as_o it_o ought_v to_o be_v now_o david_n add_v in_o the_o end_n yet_o my_o delight_n be_v in_o thy_o commandment_n whereby_o he_o advertise_v we_o that_o it_o be_v must_v be_v of_o this_o strength_n and_o power_n even_o to_o glad_a we_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o our_o sorrow_n it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v senseless_a and_o without_o feeling_n and_o david_n also_o have_v very_o well_o experiment_v how_o great_o affliction_n and_o anguish_n torment_v he_o he_o feel_v then_o both_o hard_a and_o bitter_a passion_n and_o yet_o this_o hinder_v he_o little_a to_o rejoice_v and_o to_o be_v glad_a and_o although_o he_o be_v great_o vex_v as_o touch_v the_o flesh_n yet_o feel_v he_o such_o spiritual_a joy_n in_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n that_o sorrow_n overcome_v he_o not_o now_o if_o david_n as_o before_o we_o have_v declare_v take_v such_o pleasure_n in_o the_o law_n whereas_o god_n only_o show_v himself_o to_o the_o ancient_a father_n as_o it_o be_v in_o shadow_n i_o beseech_v you_o how_o ought_v the_o word_n of_o god_n at_o this_o day_n to_o glad_v we_o where_o as_o he_o show_v himself_o so_o familiar_a a_o father_n towards_o we_o even_o open_v unto_o we_o the_o very_a bottom_n of_o his_o heart_n hide_v nothing_o from_o we_o when_o they_o our_o lord_n god_n pour_v out_o the_o treasure_n of_o his_o infinite_a love_n and_o goodness_n upon_o we_o so_o abundant_o have_v not_o we_o a_o far_o great_a occasion_n to_o rejoice_v than_o the_o father_n who_o live_v under_o the_o law_n yes_o very_o but_o it_o we_o shall_v find_v he_o to_o stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o draw_v we_o unto_o he_o declare_v that_o he_o will_v help_v the_o afflict_a have_v pity_n of_o the_o miserable_a and_o vex_v aid_v the_o wretched_a desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o bring_v back_o again_o poor_a sinner_n which_o will_v yield_v themselves_o unto_o he_o lay_v all_o their_o care_n in_o his_o lap_n and_o down_o to_o be_v a_o everlasting_a righteousness_n signify_v that_o we_o ought_v not_o to_o take_v they_o as_o pufte_n of_o wound_n as_o a_o great_a number_n of_o man_n have_v do_v to_o magnify_v god_n and_o after_o in_o the_o turn_n of_o a_o hand_n to_o go_v clean_o backward_o as_o at_o this_o day_n we_o shall_v have_v they_o which_o will_v make_v a_o show_n of_o great_a devotion_n and_o say_v o_o what_o a_o excellent_a sermon_n o_o what_o notable_a doctrine_n be_v teach_v this_o day_n but_o i_o beseech_v you_o what_o will_v they_o say_v the_o next_o day_n forsooth_o they_o will_v not_o for_o all_o this_o stick_n too_o mock_v god_n make_v one_o jest_n or_o other_o at_o his_o word_n or_o else_o if_o god_n send_v they_o any_o adversity_n they_o will_v be_v grieve_v and_o angry_a with_o he_o so_o that_o if_o they_o be_v put_v in_o mind_n of_o that_o which_o they_o before_o have_v hear_v they_o will_v answer_v that_o they_o have_v clean_o forget_v it_o david_n therefore_o mean_v to_o show_v that_o we_o must_v not_o be_v so_o slack_a as_o at_o sometime_o to_o commend_v the_o word_n of_o god_n say_v that_o it_o be_v a_o everlasting_a righteousness_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o man_n be_v changeable_a and_o this_o present_a life_n also_o be_v subject_a to_o very_o many_o change_n as_o to_o day_n we_o shall_v have_v some_o grief_n or_o other_o and_o to_o morrow_n be_v well_o again_o oftentimes_o many_o trouble_n shall_v come_v unto_o we_o and_o we_o shall_v see_v they_o at_o last_o too_o have_v a_o end_n and_o yet_o for_o all_o these_o continual_a change_n man_n must_v not_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n be_v carry_v away_o with_o every_o
blast_n of_o wound_n to_o be_v inconstant_a and_o unsteadfast_a but_o while_o they_o be_v sail_v through_o the_o wave_n of_o the_o sea_n they_o must_v hold_v themselves_o firm_a and_o sure_a in_o this_o righteousness_n and_o sincerity_n which_o be_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n see_v then_o how_o i_o must_v know_v the_o everlasting_a stableness_n of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n and_o in_o deed_n we_o shall_v have_v thereof_o a_o full_a feel_n and_o declaration_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v receive_v it_o as_o we_o ought_v but_o for_o so_o much_o as_o we_o fail_v herein_o and_o that_o we_o have_v not_o as_o of_o ourselves_o the_o spirit_n to_o comprehend_v this_o righteousness_n whereof_o in_o this_o place_n mention_n be_v make_v ne_o yet_o to_o attain_v thereto_o yea_o and_o if_o that_o we_o shall_v attain_v thereto_o so_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o to_o lead_v we_o to_o iniquity_n yet_o let_v we_o pray_v with_o david_n that_o it_o the_o child_n of_o god_n &_o of_o the_o faithful_a in_o deed_n how_o they_o continual_o be_v exercise_v in_o prayer_n even_o as_o in_o this_o place_n david_n his_o meaning_n be_v to_o set_v before_o our_o eye_n not_o that_o he_o mean_v to_o glorify_v himself_o of_o his_o own_o strength_n thereby_o to_o get_v he_o estimation_n but_o to_o the_o end_n that_o this_o example_n may_v direct_v we_o the_o right_a way_n we_o see_v then_o how_o careful_a david_n be_v to_o call_v upon_o the_o name_n of_o god_n how_o he_o apply_v his_o whole_a affection_n and_o continue_v therein_o because_o that_o every_o of_o we_o may_v do_v the_o like_a now_o in_o the_o first_o place_n he_o say_v i_o have_v cry_v out_o with_o my_o whole_a heart_n wherety_n he_o signify_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o babble_a not_o even_o as_o the_o hypocrite_n do_v or_o else_o that_o he_o cry_v not_o out_o upon_o god_n for_o a_o fashion_n or_o cold_o but_o pray_v with_o a_o true_a &_o earnest_a zeal_n neither_o do_v we_o any_o otherwise_o but_o even_o profane_a the_o name_n of_o god_n when_o as_o we_o pray_v unto_o he_o without_o attentive_a mind_n have_v our_o thought_n wander_v this_o way_n and_o that_o way_n and_o on_o every_o side_n let_v we_o then_o consider_v what_o it_o be_v principal_o to_o be_v require_v in_o our_o prayer_n which_o be_v that_o we_o must_v not_o only_o wag_v the_o tongue_n and_o open_v our_o mouth_n with_o a_o intent_n to_o pray_v unto_o god_n but_o we_o must_v pray_v sincere_o and_o pure_o also_o unto_o he_o from_o the_o bottom_n of_o our_o heart_n now_o in_o very_a deed_n we_o ought_v to_o bring_v this_o into_o a_o more_o plain_a order_n but_o yet_o according_a to_o the_o manner_n which_o we_o have_v heretofore_o keep_v in_o handle_v of_o this_o psalm_n it_o shall_v suffice_v that_o we_o set_v down_o every_o thing_n brief_o in_o certain_a article_n it_o remain_v then_o for_o this_o time_n that_o every_o one_o private_o by_o himself_o do_v more_o diligent_o meditate_v &_o bestow_v his_o whole_a study_n herein_o now_o let_v we_o see_v how_o we_o ought_v too_o make_v our_o prayer_n to_o god_n to_o wit_n our_o prayer_n must_v not_o proceed_v from_o the_o midst_n of_o our_o mouth_n but_o from_o a_o godly_a mind_n and_o pure_a truth_n this_o word_n to_o cry_v out_o import_v vehemency_n as_o shall_v again_o soon_o after_o be_v speak_v of_o now_o david_n mean_v not_o trust_v in_o thy_o word_n now_o here_o he_o again_o repeat_v the_o point_n which_o we_o have_v note_v in_o the_o other_o sermon_n that_o be_v that_o for_o our_o well_o pray_v unto_o god_n we_o must_v build_v upon_o the_o trust_n of_o his_o promise_n and_o this_o be_v the_o true_a preparation_n which_o we_o ought_v to_o make_v even_o such_o a_o one_o as_o this_o it_o be_v true_a that_o we_o have_v need_v to_o feel_v our_o misery_n and_o necessity_n as_o it_o have_v be_v before_o declare_v for_o we_o shall_v never_o pray_v unto_o god_n with_o a_o right_a affection_n and_o from_o the_o heart_n without_o this_o and_o beside_o it_o be_v very_o needful_a also_o that_o we_o so_o lie_v open_a our_o heart_n as_o that_o we_o come_v bold_o too_o present_v they_o before_o our_o good_a god_n too_o discharge_v and_o unburthen_v those_o our_o heart_n of_o all_o their_o care_n and_o sorrow_n but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n how_o be_v it_o possible_a for_o we_o so_o watchful_o and_o careful_o too_o pray_v unto_o god_n and_o to_o be_v at_o full_a liberty_n to_o come_v before_o he_o if_o we_o have_v not_o this_o hope_n that_o he_o will_v hear_v we_o and_o how_o can_v we_o have_v any_o hope_n if_o he_o have_v not_o give_v we_o his_o word_n which_o witness_v unto_o we_o his_o will_n and_o certifi_v we_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o lose_v our_o labour_n in_o pray_v unto_o he_o the_o first_o lay_v open_a then_o which_o be_v requisite_a for_o right_o call_v upon_o god_n be_v that_o we_o come_v untoo_o he_o in_o full_a assurance_n that_o he_o will_v hear_v us._n and_o why_o so_o because_o he_o have_v promise_v us._n they_o then_o which_o shall_v pray_v at_o all_o adventure_n shall_v gain_v nothing_o as_o the_o scripture_n say_v for_o it_o be_v do_v but_o in_o hypocrisy_n when_o as_o we_o assure_v not_o ourselves_o that_o god_n will_v hear_v us._n we_o must_v as_o the_o apostle_n say_v in_o draw_v near_o unto_o god_n know_v that_o it_o be_v god_n which_o call_v we_o unto_o he_o and_o they_o which_o have_v not_o this_o knowledge_n shall_v be_v void_a of_o their_o hope_n and_o therefore_o every_o man_n must_v look_v into_o himself_o to_o be_v thus_o resolve_v and_o say_v well_o since_o it_o be_v god_n that_o call_v and_o bid_v i_o to_o come_v unto_o he_o i_o must_v not_o stand_v in_o doubt_n of_o obtain_v that_o which_o i_o shall_v ask_v of_o he_o yea_o because_o i_o trust_v to_o his_o word_n when_o then_o we_o shall_v be_v thus_o full_o assure_v we_o may_v very_o well_o begin_v too_o pray_v but_o if_o this_o be_v not_o in_o we_o we_o may_v bestow_v great_a pain_n in_o pray_v unto_o god_n yea_o from_o morning_n until_o evening_n we_o may_v continue_v all_o the_o whole_a night_n in_o babble_v but_o we_o shall_v get_v nothing_o at_o all_o by_o it_o although_o we_o have_v some_o desire_n and_o zeal_n we_o shall_v never_o know_v what_o gain_n we_o shall_v have_v by_o our_o prayer_n because_o we_o trust_v not_o to_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n nor_o yet_o stay_v ourselves_o upon_o they_o let_v we_o then_o not_o doubt_v but_o that_o he_o will_v help_v we_o and_o that_o we_o shall_v feel_v his_o aid_n in_o time_n convenient_a hereby_o we_o see_v that_o we_o can_v never_o due_o and_o true_o pray_v unto_o god_n in_o all_o the_o religion_n of_o popery_n i_o say_v according_a too_o that_o doctrine_n which_o they_o hold_v and_o why_o so_o because_o they_o teach_v the_o wretched_a world_n to_o be_v always_o in_o doubt_n and_o waver_a see_v then_o that_o a_o mere_a and_o profess_a papist_n can_n never_o be_v able_a too_o make_v one_o prayer_n to_o please_v god_n and_o can_v choose_v but_o to_o provoke_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n against_o themselves_o in_o all_o their_o prayer_n and_o why_o so_o forsomuch_o as_o they_o look_v not_o unto_o his_o promise_n upon_o which_o we_o must_v settle_v ourselves_o to_o be_v assure_v but_o that_o which_o be_v worse_o they_o teach_v that_o in_o their_o prayer_n they_o must_v always_o stand_v in_o doubt_n so_o much_o the_o more_o than_o ought_v this_o doctrine_n right_o too_o be_v consider_v of_o we_o where_o it_o be_v declare_v that_o the_o key_n which_o open_v the_o gate_n for_o we_o to_o approach_v unto_o god_n in_o call_v upon_o his_o name_n be_v this_o that_o we_o must_v have_v the_o promise_n contain_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n &_o to_o learn_v such_o a_o affiance_n out_o of_o it_o as_o that_o we_o doubt_v not_o that_o god_n regard_v we_o and_o that_o so_o oftentimes_o as_o we_o pray_v unto_o he_o that_o our_o prayer_n enter_v into_o he_o and_o that_o he_o will_v receive_v they_o declare_v that_o he_o be_v ready_a too_o grant_v unto_o we_o wat_fw-mi soever_o we_o shall_v crave_v of_o he_o in_o his_o son_n name_n according_a to_o his_o wil._n now_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n because_o that_o god_n ordinary_o hear_v not_o we_o at_o the_o first_o chop_n that_o be_v to_o say_v show_v not_o it_o according_a to_o the_o outward_a show_n and_o as_o we_o will_v wish_v here_o be_v require_v patience_n to_o remain_v constant_a in_o this_o assurance_n and_o too_o retain_v and_o nourish_v it_o in_o our_o heart_n after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n for_o he_o say_v not_o that_o he_o pray_v only_o unto_o god_n for_o a_o time_n but_o show_v that_o he_o continue_v therein_o and_o that_o he_o prevent_v the_o night_n watch_v see_v then_o what_o perseveraunce_n be_v in_o he_o as_o touch_v prayer_n now_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o god_n show_v he_o not_o too_o have_v obtain_v the_o thing_n that_o he_o pray_v for_o it_o fall_v out_o then_o that_o david_n his_o patience_n be_v trouble_v in_o that_o that_o he_o languish_v and_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o he_o always_o trust_v to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n now_o we_o for_o our_o part_n be_v to_o do_v even_o the_o like_a for_o although_o god_n show_v not_o himself_o to_o be_v merciful_a unto_o we_o so_o soon_o as_o we_o will_v wish_v and_o too_o grant_v we_o our_o request_n yet_o ought_v we_o notwithstanding_o too_o build_v hereupon_o that_o he_o will_v be_v faithful_a and_o show_v himself_o so_o in_o the_o end_n although_o he_o prolong_v it_o for_o a_o time_n he_o do_v it_o because_o he_o know_v it_o to_o be_v very_o profitable_a for_o we_o to_o humble_v we_o and_o to_o prove_v our_o patience_n it_o follow_v soon_o after_o my_o eye_n prevent_v the_o night_n watch_v that_o i_o may_v be_v occupy_v in_o thy_o word_n this_o verse_n be_v not_o put_v to_o without_o cause_n i_o have_v already_o say_v that_o we_o can_v have_v no_o access_n unto_o god_n in_o our_o prayer_n without_o we_o trust_v to_o his_o word_n for_o it_o be_v a_o very_a hard_a matter_n for_o we_o to_o stay_v upon_o god_n if_o we_o only_o consider_v of_o he_o according_a to_o our_o natural_a reason_n whether_o he_o be_v near_o we_o or_o no_o and_o whether_o he_o put_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o help_v us._n when_o then_o we_o shall_v not_o perceive_v this_o power_n and_o grace_n of_o god_n as_o we_o will_v wish_v it_o be_v a_o very_a hard_a thing_n for_o we_o too_o believe_v in_o he_o and_o therefore_o we_o must_v stout_o strive_v in_o this_o behalf_n and_o see_v why_o david_n say_v that_o his_o eye_n prevent_v the_o night_n watch_n to_o be_v occupy_v in_o that_o which_o may_v confirm_v he_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v o_o lord_n i_o have_v believe_v thy_o word_n but_o it_o be_v with_o great_a pain_n and_o with_o many_o hard_a conflict_n for_o i_o be_o a_o weak_a man_n and_o of_o my_o own_o nature_n incline_v to_o distrust_n and_o beside_o i_o be_o assail_v with_o a_o great_a number_n of_o temptation_n but_o yet_o have_v i_o remedy_v all_o this_o gear_n when_o as_o i_o occupy_v myself_o about_o this_o continual_a meditation_n of_o thy_o word_n which_o i_o do_v not_o only_o bestow_v on_o the_o day_n time_n but_o
who_o he_o so_o great_o love_v as_o the_o scripture_n witness_v of_o he_o now_o here_o we_o be_v to_o note_v two_o thing_n the_o one_o be_v that_o when_o david_n desire_v god_n to_o look_v upon_o his_o affliction_n and_o to_o deliver_v he_o out_o of_o they_o he_o confess_v that_o he_o be_v astony_v as_o if_o god_n have_v turn_v his_o back_n upon_o he_o it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o david_n consider_v not_o of_o all_o that_o be_v too_o be_v consider_v neither_o do_v he_o conclude_v that_o god_n will_v cast_v off_o his_o child_n in_o such_o sort_n but_o yet_o so_o far_o forth_o as_o natural_a reason_n can_v reach_v see_v how_o he_o may_v judge_v of_o his_o estate_n and_o at_o that_o point_n also_o be_v all_o the_o child_n of_o god_n for_o on_o the_o one_o side_n when_o as_o they_o shall_v look_v upon_o their_o own_o state_n and_o condition_n they_o can_v choose_v but_o that_o they_o must_v be_v force_v to_o say_v what_o a_o thing_n be_v this_o sure_o if_o god_n have_v any_o compassion_n upon_o we_o and_o that_o he_o see_v we_o be_v it_o possible_a that_o ever_o we_o shall_v be_v thus_o cruel_o handle_v will_v not_o he_o take_v some_o better_a order_n for_o this_o see_v then_o that_o we_o can_v choose_v but_o to_o conceive_v these_o and_o such_o like_a imagination_n in_o our_o heart_n when_o as_o we_o be_v greeve_v and_o persecute_v and_o look_v into_o our_o own_o present_a estate_n yea_o even_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v we_o can_v choose_v even_o too_o feel_v ourselves_o as_o it_o be_v to_o be_v forsake_v of_o god._n and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o we_o must_v be_v full_o persuade_v and_o resolve_v that_o god_n behold_v we_o and_o although_o it_o seem_v that_o he_o have_v turn_v his_o back_n upon_o we_o yet_o that_o he_o cease_v not_o too_o help_v we_o and_o be_v careful_a for_o our_o salvation_n yea_o and_o though_o we_o see_v nothing_o yet_o let_v we_o hold_v this_o for_o a_o certain_a and_o a_o undoubted_a truth_n in_o our_o heart_n and_o therefore_o so_o often_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v thus_o trouble_v to_o think_v that_o god_n have_v no_o long_a care_n over_o we_o but_o that_o he_o have_v clere_o forsake_v we_o yet_o let_v not_o this_o hinder_v we_o from_o pray_v after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n neither_o let_v we_o be_v slack_a but_o even_o say_v o_o lord_n behold_v i_o in_o the_o second_o place_n we_o have_v to_o note_v the_o reason_n which_o david_n here_o set_v down_o for_o i_o do_v not_o forget_v thy_o law_n if_o then_o we_o will_v have_v god_n to_o hear_v we_o we_o must_v have_v his_o law_n as_o it_o be_v full_o settle_v in_o our_o heart_n and_o how_o be_v that_o forsooth_o we_o must_v think_v and_o study_v upon_o his_o promise_n we_o must_v know_v he_o to_o be_v love_v and_o merciful_a to_o help_v all_o those_o that_o be_v he_o and_o too_o aid_v they_o in_o all_o their_o necessity_n and_o beside_o this_o must_v be_v our_o sure_a foundation_n that_o his_o promise_n be_v infallible_a and_o that_o he_o will_v not_o suffer_v his_o child_n to_o go_v empty_a away_o when_o as_o they_o shall_v tend_v themselves_o thereto_o see_v then_o how_o we_o must_v meditate_v upon_o the_o law_n of_o god_n that_o be_v to_o say_v upon_o his_o word_n for_o under_o this_o word_n the_o law_n there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o that_o david_n comprehend_v the_o sum_n of_o all_o the_o doctrine_n which_o god_n give_v unto_o his_o church_n every_o of_o we_o than_o must_v be_v exercise_v in_o this_o study_n and_o we_o have_v the_o law_n thus_o imprint_v in_o our_o heart_n may_v be_v certain_a and_o sure_a that_o god_n behold_v we_o and_o will_v help_v we_o in_o all_o our_o affliction_n yea_o although_o it_o seem_v and_o we_o may_v judge_v according_a to_o our_o carnal_a sense_n that_o he_o have_v turn_v his_o back_n upon_o we_o or_o that_o he_o have_v close_v up_o his_o eye_n and_o sleep_v and_o as_o a_o man_n will_v say_v never_o think_v more_o of_o us._n now_o it_o follow_v in_o the_o second_o verse_n plead_v my_o cause_n and_o deliver_v i_o quicken_v i_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n here_o david_n express_v what_o this_o his_o affection_n be_v whereof_o he_o have_v speak_v too_o wit_n how_o that_o the_o wicked_a unjust_o persecute_v he_o as_o again_o hereafter_o shall_v more_o at_o large_a be_v declare_v now_o we_o know_v that_o the_o grief_n which_o the_o child_n of_o god_n do_v suffer_v in_o this_o world_n be_v diverse_a and_o sundry_a for_o sometime_o god_n will_v lay_v heavy_a hand_n upon_o they_o without_o any_o man_n his_o touch_v sometime_o also_o man_n shall_v let_v we_o seek_v after_o peace_n but_o if_o so_o be_v we_o shall_v procure_v to_o do_v any_o wrong_n the_o world_n will_v never_o give_v over_o hate_v of_o we_o and_o procure_v of_o our_o hurt_n yea_o and_o go_v about_o even_o to_o destroy_v us._n but_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v let_v not_o that_o seem_v strange_a unto_o we_o see_v it_o come_v so_o to_o pass_v in_o david_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o now_o in_o the_o second_o place_n we_o be_v to_o beseech_v god_n too_o avenge_v our_o cause_n too_o comfort_v we_o when_o we_o see_v ourselves_o to_o be_v wrongful_o deal_v withal_o when_o as_o we_o be_v oppress_v with_o false_a and_o slanderous_a report_n that_o we_o be_v evil_o speak_v of_o without_o just_a desert_n we_o must_v they_o desire_v god_n to_o be_v our_o warrant_n and_o deliverer_n and_o let_v we_o not_o doubt_v but_o that_o he_o will_v take_v our_o cause_n into_o his_o own_o hand_n &_o show_v himself_o to_o be_v more_o than_o a_o protector_n &_o
