the_o perfect_a knowledge_n of_o the_o scripture_n difficil_n as_o saint_n peter_n say_v in_o his_o second_n epist._n the_o 1._o chap._n therefore_o think_v the_o scripture_n not_o difficil_n but_o to_o the_o fleshly_a man_n which_o shall_v get_v no_o understanding_n thereof_o they_o deceive_v you_o which_o say_v the_o scripture_n be_v difficil_n no_o man_n can_v understand_v they_o but_o great_a clerk_n very_o who_o they_o call_v their_o clerk_n know_v not_o what_o the_o scripture_n mean_v fear_v nor_o dread_v not_o to_o read_v the_o scripture_n as_o you_o be_v teach_v here_o before_o and_o seek_v nothing_o in_o they_o but_o your_o own_o salvation_n and_o that_o which_o be_v necessary_a for_o you_o to_o know_v and_o so_o the_o holy_a spirit_n your_o teacher_n shall_v not_o suffer_v you_o to_o err_v nor_o go_v beside_o the_o right_a way_n but_o lead_v you_o in_o all_o verity_n and_o so_o will_v we_o pass_v forward_o to_o the_o question_n before_o rehearse_v wherefore_o god_n give_v the_o law_n as_o we_o be_v teach_v by_o his_o scripture_n the_o xiiii_o chap._n 1_o a_o introduction_n to_o answer_v the_o first_o question_n of_o the_o wicked_a 2_o to_o what_o creature_n god_n give_v law_n and_o why_o he_o give_v the_o law_n to_o man_n 3_o of_o adam_n gift_n before_o his_o fall_n have_v no_o man_n experience_n 4_o the_o law_n give_v to_o moses_n and_o why_o man_n may_v not_o fulfil_v the_o law_n there_o can_v nothing_o be_v perfect_o understand_v without_o the_o ground_n and_o foundation_n be_v seek_v &_o know_v so_o for_o the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o this_o question_n you_o must_v begin_v at_o god_n and_o know_v he_o as_o he_o have_v command_v in_o his_o scripture_n and_o seek_v he_o no_o other_o way_n and_o by_o he_o you_o shall_v get_v knowledge_n of_o yourself_o god_n be_v without_o beginning_n as_o he_o be_v without_o end_v in_o the_o beginning_n make_v all_o creature_n perfect_a right_a and_o good_a and_o last_o of_o all_o man_n to_o his_o own_o
all_o to_o himself_o say_v come_v unto_o i_o all_o you_o which_o labour_n 1â—_n and_o be_v lade_v with_o sin_n and_o i_o shall_v refresh_v you_o and_o peter_n say_v there_o be_v no_o salvation_n but_o those_o be_v to_o exclude_v work_n forth_o of_o this_o article_n christ._n now_o since_o the_o scripture_n teach_v we_o so_o plain_o that_o christ_n be_v our_o justice_n our_o saviour_n and_o redeamer_n satisfaction_n for_o our_o sin_n the_o end_n and_o consommation_n of_o the_o law_n and_o have_v free_v we_o from_o the_o law_n sin_n and_o death_n and_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o satan_n our_o adversary_n and_o buy_v we_o to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o righteousness_n without_o our_o merit_n or_o deserving_n why_o will_v we_o usurp_v his_o office_n to_o ourselves_o and_o spoil_n christ_n of_o his_o glory_n or_o be_v come_v thrall_n again_o to_o that_o thing_n from_o the_o which_o christ_n have_v free_v us._n glory_n the_o which_o we_o do_v if_o we_o be_v participant_a with_o christ_n in_o the_o make_n of_o ourselves_o just_a or_o mix_v any_o work_n with_o the_o article_n of_o iustication_n the_o xix_o chap._n 1_o as_o the_o good_a tree_n bear_v good_a fruit_n so_o the_o good_a man_n work_v good_a work_n 2_o but_o as_o the_o fruit_n make_v not_o the_o tree_n good_a so_o work_n make_v not_o the_o man_n just_a 3_o for_o as_o the_o tree_n be_v before_o the_o fruit_n so_o the_o man_n be_v just_a before_o the_o work_n be_v good_a 4_o the_o cause_n why_o we_o shall_v work_v good_a work_n 5_o the_o captain_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n his_o subject_n and_o reward_n and_o of_o his_o adversary_n satan_n this_o faith_n which_o only_o justifi_v and_o give_v life_n be_v not_o idle_a nor_o remain_v alone_o nevertheless_o it_o alone_o justifi_v and_o then_o it_o work_v by_o charity_n for_o unfeigned_a faith_n may_v no_o more_o abide_v idle_a from_o work_v in_o love_n then_o the_o good_a tree_n may_v from_o bring_v forth_o her_o fruit_n in_o due_a time_n and_o yet_o the_o fruit_n be_v not_o the_o cause_n of_o the_o tree_n nor_o make_v the_o tree_n good_a but_o the_o tree_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o the_o fruit_n and_o the_o good_a tree_n bring_v forth_o good_a son_n of_o ire_n &_o wrath_n 1._o to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n man_n be_v make_v subject_n through_o his_o second_o birth_n or_o regeneration_n which_o be_v by_o baptism_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ._n to_o this_o kingdom_n man_n be_v buy_v neither_o with_o gold_n nor_o silver_n but_o with_o the_o precious_a blood_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n christ_n jesus_n and_o so_o be_v make_v servant_n to_o righteousness_n to_o serve_v unto_o life_n therefore_o who_o be_v make_v just_a by_o faith_n through_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o merit_v of_o christ_n jesus_n mun_o in_o faith_n which_o be_v not_o idle_a but_o ever_o work_v in_o love_n serve_v christ_n and_o embrace_v he_o in_o his_o hart_n then_o shall_v he_o remain_v in_o christ_n &_o christ_n in_o he_o by_o the_o which_o join_v through_o faith_n sin_n shall_v have_v no_o dominion_n nor_o shall_v not_o rule_v as_o a_o prince_n howbeit_o the_o dregs_n remain_v in_o us._n they_o shall_v not_o be_v impute_v to_o we_o if_o the_o devil_n have_v three_o valiant_a captain_n which_o govern_v the_o same_o that_o be_v incredulity_n despair_n and_o envy_n ever_o work_v sin_n and_o unrighteousness_n unto_o death_n satan_n because_o the_o reward_n of_o sin_n be_v death_n in_o this_o kingdom_n sin_n rule_v as_o a_o prince_n have_v dominion_n therefore_o if_o you_o will_v serve_v sin_n and_o obey_v the_o same_o 6._o you_o be_v servant_n to_o that_o thing_n which_o you_o obey_v whither_o it_o be_v of_o sin_n unto_o death_n or_o righteousness_n unto_o life_n but_o christ_n have_v redeam_v we_o and_o buy_v we_o from_o this_o realm_n that_o even_o as_o christ_n have_v rise_v from_o death_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o father_n right_o so_o we_o shall_v live_v in_o a_o new_a life_n and_o let_v not_o sin_n have_v more_o dominion_n over_o us._n there_o be_v no_o man_n so_o foolish_a who_o will_v think_v he_o be_v deliver_v of_o a_o vile_a prison_n by_o the_o grace_n and_o mercy_n of_o a_o great_a prince_n and_o bring_v to_o serve_v in_o his_o hall_n &_o so_o make_v tender_a to_o the_o prince_n that_o he_o be_v make_v participant_a of_o his_o son_n heritage_n will_v say_v i_o will_v pass_v again_o to_o prison_n because_o he_o be_v not_o a_o part_n of_o his_o own_o deliverance_n very_o it_o be_v even_o so_o of_o their_o say_n which_o say_v i_o will_v do_v no_o good_a because_o christ_n have_v deliver_v i_o and_o be_v deliver_v i_o will_v sin_v and_o follow_v all_o liberty_n of_o flesh_n wherefore_o shall_v i_o do_v any_o good_a work_n since_o christ_n have_v redeam_v i_o without_o my_o deserve_n my_o heart_n you_o which_o object_n these_o say_n read_v the_o scripture_n and_o you_o shall_v find_v another_o lesson_n teach_v you_o and_o attend_v upon_o your_o schoolmaster_n which_o be_v the_o holy_a spirit_n who_o shall_v teach_v you_o the_o right_a way_n that_o you_o pass_v neither_o to_o the_o right_a hand_n nor_o to_o the_o wrong_n but_o the_o right_n kingly_a way_n that_o be_v way_n to_o confess_v and_o ever_o have_v prent_v in_o your_o heart_n that_o by_o faith_n only_o of_o the_o mercy_n and_o grace_n of_o god_n you_o be_v make_v safe_a and_o then_o follow_v the_o example_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n give_v your_o whole_a study_n and_o cure_v to_o love_n charity_n and_o all_o manner_n of_o righteous_a live_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n &_o profit_n of_o your_o neighbour_n not_o that_o there_o through_o you_o be_v make_v safe_a but_o that_o you_o may_v be_v find_v
