of_o many_o professor_n in_o all_o age_n who_o live_v in_o the_o church_n and_o not_o be_v of_o it_o but_o as_o goat_n among_o the_o sheep_n and_o as_o tare_n among_o the_o corn_n do_v notwithstanding_o by_o a_o external_a profession_n of_o religion_n and_o false_a opinion_n of_o true_a piety_n deceive_v not_o only_o other_o but_o sometime_o themselves_o also_o for_o many_o there_o be_v who_o place_n all_o religion_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o the_o outward_a worship_n and_o therefore_o such_o person_n if_o they_o frequent_v the_o church_n hear_v the_o word_n receive_v the_o sacrament_n call_v upon_o god_n with_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o congregation_n they_o imagine_v that_o they_o have_v sufficient_o discharge_v their_o duty_n though_o their_o life_n and_o conversation_n be_v irreligious_a and_o unrighteous_a yea_o and_o not_o a_o few_o seem_v to_o repose_v such_o trust_n and_o affiance_n in_o the_o very_a name_n of_o the_o church_n that_o if_o they_o imagine_v themselves_o to_o be_v in_o the_o true_a church_n and_o do_v not_o gain_v say_v the_o doctrine_n therein_o profess_v they_o take_v no_o further_a care_n for_o their_o salvation_n but_o live_v secure_o as_o though_o all_o the_o member_n of_o the_o visible_a church_n be_v also_o member_n of_o the_o invisible_a and_o as_o though_o all_o which_o have_v the_o external_a church_n to_o their_o mother_n have_v also_o god_n to_o their_o spiritual_a father_n in_o christ._n wherefore_o to_o the_o end_n that_o man_n shall_v no_o long_o deceive_v themselves_o with_o vain_a opinion_n &_o fond_a conceit_n the_o prophet_n have_v first_o consult_v as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o oracle_n of_o god_n set_v down_o certain_a mark_n or_o note_n of_o a_o true_a christian_a and_o citizen_n of_o heaven_n whereby_o every_o man_n may_v discern_v himself_o and_o withal_o he_o teach_v that_o in_o a_o sound_n and_o lively_a member_n of_o the_o church_n a_o external_a profession_n of_o the_o faith_n and_o a_o outward_a communion_n with_o the_o church_n of_o god_n be_v not_o sufficient_a unless_o the_o uprightness_n of_o our_o life_n be_v answerable_a to_o our_o profession_n and_o the_o same_o be_v general_o and_o simple_o it_o be_v condemn_v as_o a_o grievous_a abomination_n whereby_o the_o usurer_n provoke_v the_o vengeance_n of_o god_n not_o only_o against_o himself_o but_o also_o against_o the_o society_n wherein_o he_o do_v live_v and_o thus_o we_o see_v all_o usury_n or_o lend_v for_o gain_n by_o diverse_a testimony_n of_o scripture_n to_o be_v plain_o and_o manifest_o condemn_v of_o will_v not_o lend_v at_o all_o answer_v it_o be_v a_o great_a sin_n not_o to_o lend_v at_o all_o to_o a_o man_n who_o be_v in_o great_a need_n than_o to_o lend_v unto_o he_o upon_o usury_n even_o as_o it_o be_v a_o great_a offence_n altogether_o to_o deny_v food_n to_o he_o that_o be_v almost_o famish_a than_o to_o sell_v it_o unto_o he_o at_o a_o unreasonable_a rate_n and_o therefore_o many_o commonweal_n do_v tolerate_v such_o usury_n as_o be_v not_o immoderate_a for_o the_o good_a both_o of_o the_o borrower_n and_o also_o of_o the_o lender_n of_o the_o borrower_n because_o his_o necessity_n many_o time_n be_v such_o that_o it_o be_v far_o better_a for_o he_o to_o borrow_v upon_o usury_n than_o not_o to_o borrow_v at_o all_o of_o the_o lender_n because_o to_o lend_v upon_o moderate_a usury_n to_o they_o that_o must_v needs_o borrow_v be_v a_o less_o sin_n than_o not_o to_o lend_v at_o all_o but_o as_o the_o afore_o cite_v place_n condemn_v the_o negative_a and_o forbid_v lend_v for_o gain_n so_o there_o be_v diverse_a manifest_a testimony_n of_o scripture_n enjoin_v the_o affirmative_a and_o command_v we_o to_o lend_v free_o and_o therefore_o as_o we_o be_v to_o abstain_v from_o usury_n because_o god_n forbid_v it_o so_o must_v we_o practice_v free_a loan_n because_o god_n command_v it_o these_o place_n because_o they_o be_v so_o many_o evidence_n against_o usury_n i_o will_v the_o rather_o recite_v and_o first_o that_o in_o deut._n 15_o where_o the_o lord_n have_v provide_v by_o law_n that_o in_o the_o seven_o year_n no_o debt_n shall_v be_v
