free_a grace_n of_o god_n and_o will_v open_v the_o way_n that_o we_o may_v walk_v therein_o with_o comfort_n for_o the_o former_a quest._n 1_o the_o question_n here_o grow_v how_o far_o a_o believer_n that_o have_v a_o interest_n a_fw-fr christ_n may_v charge_v himself_o with_o his_o sin_n answer_n i_o answer_v for_o the_o manner_n of_o it_o it_o shall_v appear_v in_o these_o particular_a rule_n or_o conclusion_n first_o every_o believer_n under_o heaven_n both_o the_o weak_a and_o the_o strong_a even_o he_o that_o have_v the_o strong_a measure_n of_o grace_n be_v bind_v to_o this_o to_o the_o uttermost_a of_o his_o power_n to_o see_v and_o examine_v the_o sinful_a carriage_n of_o his_o soul_n whether_o distemper_n inward_o or_o ungodly_a practice_n outward_o he_o be_v bind_v to_o consider_v of_o they_o and_o to_o judge_v of_o these_o his_o sin_n and_o every_o of_o they_o know_v that_o even_o the_o least_o of_o they_o be_v sufficient_a to_o make_v he_o guilty_a of_o eternal_a death_n and_o to_o bring_v condemnation_n upon_o he_o as_o he_o must_v see_v what_o his_o sin_n be_v so_o he_o must_v judge_v that_o it_o have_v the_o power_n to_o make_v he_o guilty_a and_o also_o to_o condemn_v he_o shall_v not_o the_o lord_n by_o the_o power_n of_o his_o grace_n prevent_v it_o every_o sin_n in_o his_o own_o nature_n and_o power_n do_v and_o will_v procure_v guilt_n and_o condemnation_n to_o the_o soul_n by_o the_o sin_n commit_v unless_o the_o lord_n in_o mercy_n do_v prevent_v it_o and_o christ_n by_o the_o power_n of_o his_o merit_n stop_v the_o power_n and_o condemnation_n of_o sin_n as_o the_o apostle_n say_v rom._n 1.31_o which_o man_n though_o they_o know_v the_o law_n of_o god_n how_o that_o they_o which_o do_v these_o thing_n be_v condemn_v every_o sinner_n may_v say_v of_o every_o sin_n he_o commit_v that_o there_o be_v enough_o in_o it_o to_o damn_v he_o if_o god_n shall_v deal_v with_o he_o after_o his_o own_o deserve_n if_o i_o shall_v be_v leave_v to_o the_o power_n of_o my_o pride_n and_o malice_n &_o hatred_n &_o dead_a heartednes_n it_o be_v enough_o to_o condemn_v i_o for_o ever_o the_o wife_n physician_n that_o see_v his_o patient_n be_v in_o a_o pleurisy_n will_v say_v here_o be_v enough_o in_o this_o man_n to_o kill_v he_o if_o i_o shall_v neglect_v he_o but_o a_o few_o day_n it_o will_v kill_v he_o but_o now_o if_o the_o physician_n let_v he_o blood_n he_o stop_v the_o power_n of_o it_o that_o so_o the_o corrupt_a blood_n can_v bring_v death_n upon_o he_o so_o every_o sin_n that_o a_o man_n commit_v both_o the_o distemper_n of_o the_o heart_n inward_o and_o the_o abuse_n of_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o practice_n of_o sin_n outward_o there_o be_v enough_o in_o that_o pleurisy_n of_o sin_n to_o take_v away_o a_o man_n comfort_n and_o happiness_n unless_o the_o lord_n be_v please_v to_o hinder_v the_o condemn_a power_n of_o they_o that_o they_o can_v hurt_v we_o therefore_o the_o sum_n of_o all_o be_v this_o as_o every_o believer_n must_v examine_v his_o own_o heart_n and_o life_n so_o he_o must_v judge_v the_o nature_n of_o sin_n and_o judge_v himself_o worthy_a to_o be_v condemn_v 1_o cor._n 11.31_o if_o we_o will_v judge_v ourselves_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v judge_v that_o be_v if_o we_o condemn_v ourselves_o and_o judge_v ourselves_o worthy_a to_o be_v condemn_v for_o they_o i_o say_v not_o that_o a_o man_n shall_v say_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v condemn_v he_o but_o that_o he_o be_v worthy_a to_o be_v condemn_v for_o they_o and_o he_o deserve_v condemnation_n every_o fiery_a serpent_n in_o the_o wilderness_n have_v a_o kill_a nature_n in_o it_o and_o if_o it_o do_v not_o kill_v it_o be_v not_o for_o want_v of_o power_n in_o it_o but_o practice_n of_o the_o soul_n who_o the_o lord_n have_v true_o bring_v home_o to_o himself_o as_o ezekiel_n 16.36_o after_o they_o be_v justify_v in_o god_n sight_n then_o shall_v they_o remember_v their_o evil_a way_n say_v the_o text_n and_o be_v ashamed_a and_o never_o open_v their_o mouth_n more_o when_o i_o be_o pacify_v towards_o thou_o for_o all_o that_o thou_o have_v do_v though_o god_n have_v accept_v of_o a_o poor_a believer_n yet_o he_o must_v see_v his_o sin_n and_o lay_v his_o mouth_n in_o the_o dust_n and_o never_o prank_n up_o his_o heart_n more_o but_o walk_v humble_o before_o the_o lord_n and_o though_o he_o be_v accept_v and_o pardon_v yet_o he_o shall_v judge_v himself_o worthy_a to_o be_v condemn_v this_o be_v the_o first_o conclusion_n second_o every_o believe_a soul_n justify_v and_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o christ_n ought_v thus_o far_o to_o acknowledge_v his_o sin_n as_o that_o it_o be_v righteous_a with_o the_o lord_n to_o execute_v his_o wrath_n
against_o he_o and_o to_o take_v all_o the_o advantage_n against_o he_o and_o howsoever_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o condemn_v he_o yet_o to_o let_v out_o his_o wrath_n against_o he_o though_o not_o to_o condemn_v he_o yet_o to_o distract_v he_o this_o be_v that_o which_o job_n make_v to_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o that_o bitter_a complaint_n of_o he_o and_o make_v he_o sit_v down_o in_o distractednesse_n of_o heart_n under_o the_o heavy_a displeasure_n of_o the_o lord_n wrath_n that_o though_o god_n will_v not_o damn_v he_o yet_o when_o the_o lord_n take_v away_o his_o love_a countenance_n and_o let_v in_o his_o indignation_n into_o his_o soul_n to_o his_o humiliation_n terror_n and_o vexation_n this_o sink_v he_o infinite_o and_o this_o god_n may_v do_v to_o every_o believer_n under_o heaven_n job_n 13.24_o 26._o why_o hide_v thou_o away_o thy_o face_n and_o take_v i_o for_o thy_o enemy_n god_n seem_v to_o be_v displease_v with_o he_o and_o to_o frown_v upon_o he_o and_o carry_v himself_o to_o job_n as_o a_o enemy_n and_o in_o the_o 26._o verse_n thou_o write_v bitter_a thing_n against_o i_o and_o make_v i_o to_o inherit_v the_o sin_n of_o my_o youth_n make_v the_o sin_n and_o vanity_n of_o his_o soul_n to_o be_v possess_v by_o he_o and_o bring_v out_o all_o his_o abomination_n out_o of_o record_n thou_o write_v bitter_a thing_n against_o i_o that_o be_v the_o lord_n take_v all_o the_o advantage_n against_o he_o that_o may_v be_v and_o say_v remember_v the_o old_a lust_n of_o thy_o heart_n and_o the_o vanity_n of_o thy_o youth_n and_o this_o make_v he_o like_o a_o dry_a leaf_n toss_v too_o and_o fro_o as_o verse_n 25._o oh_o how_o easy_a be_v it_o for_o god_n if_o he_o shall_v but_o report_v to_o a_o man_n conscience_n any_o little_a sin_n that_o be_v commit_v the_o night_n before_o and_o set_v it_o on_o and_o seal_v it_o to_o the_o heart_n it_o will_v drive_v the_o stout_a heart_n under_o heaven_n to_o despair_v psalm_n 88.15_o thy_o terror_n have_v i_o suffer_v from_o my_o youth_n upward_o and_o i_o have_v be_v distract_v with_o they_o lord_n why_o cast_v thou_o off_o my_o soul_n i_o be_o afflict_v and_o ready_a to_o die_v to_o utter_v distraction_n of_o mind_n psalm_n 40.12_o innumerable_a trouble_n have_v take_v hold_v upon_o i_o they_o have_v so_o compass_v i_o about_o that_o i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o look_v up_o every_o sin_n be_v like_o a_o great_a bandog_n that_o be_v muzzle_v and_o if_o he_o be_v once_o let_v loose_a he_o will_v tear_v all_o in_o piece_n so_o the_o lord_n sometime_o muzzle_n a_o man_n corruption_n and_o keep_v they_o under_o and_o if_o the_o lord_n do_v but_o now_o and_o then_o let_v they_o loose_v than_o they_o pull_v a_o man_n down_o and_o hence_o come_v all_o those_o pale_a look_n and_o discouragement_n of_o soul_n these_o be_v they_o that_o will_v thus_o worry_v a_o man_n thus_o every_o believer_n must_v acknowledge_v that_o it_o be_v just_a with_o the_o lord_n to_o let_v loose_a his_o sin_n howsoever_o not_o to_o condemn_v he_o yet_o to_o make_v he_o live_v at_o little_a peace_n or_o quiet_a and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o the_o prophet_n david_n pray_v so_o against_o it_o psalm_n 51.9_o when_o he_o have_v commit_v those_o two_o great_a sin_n of_o adultery_n and_o murder_n though_o god_n after_o his_o confession_n have_v seal_v to_o his_o soul_n the_o pardon_n of_o they_o yet_o he_o go_v with_o break_a bone_n and_o therefore_o he_o say_v hide_v away_o thy_o face_n from_o my_o sin_n and_o put_v away_o all_o my_o iniquity_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v look_v not_o upon_o my_o sin_n as_o a_o judge_n do_v not_o follow_v the_o law_n against_o i_o let_v not_o my_o sin_n or_o my_o person_n be_v once_o bring_v into_o the_o court_n or_o be_v once_o name_v but_o look_v upon_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n for_o i_o and_o for_o his_o sake_n blot_v out_o all_o my_o iniquity_n three_o every_o believer_n accept_v and_o justify_v in_o and_o through_o into_o the_o love_n and_o favour_n of_o god_n indeed_o if_o we_o can_v quit_v ourselves_o and_o clear_v our_o hand_n of_o any_o sin_n commit_v by_o we_o it_o be_v something_o than_o we_o will_v be_v ready_a to_o say_v as_o the_o people_n to_o jeremie_n we_o be_v holy_a we_o be_v lord_n we_o will_v come_v no_o more_o at_o thou_o no_o it_o be_v necessary_a see_v christ_n be_v yet_o in_o the_o need_n of_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o mercy_n still_o to_o wash_v away_o the_o guilt_n of_o my_o sin_n this_o the_o law_n require_v of_o every_o man_n that_o do_v offer_v sacrifice_n as_o they_o be_v to_o offer_v their_o daily_a sacrifice_n so_o we_o have_v daily_o need_v of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o we_o must_v have_v a_o daily_a recourse_n to_o christ_n therefore_o the_o sacrificer_n be_v to_o keep_v the_o sight_n and_o sense_n of_o our_o sin_n though_o our_o sin_n endure_v for_o ever_o our_o live_n and_o sin_v go_v together_o and_o we_o still_o continue_v to_o be_v as_o sinful_a and_o lazy_a and_o idle_a as_o ever_o yet_o see_v a_o need_n of_o a_o
threaten_n of_o god_n can_v take_v no_o hold_n upon_o they_o but_o though_o they_o be_v so_o rebellious_a here_o yet_o everlasting_a condemnation_n shall_v take_v hold_n of_o they_o and_o shall_v have_v power_n over_o they_o hereafter_o and_o will_v drag_v their_o soul_n and_o body_n down_o to_o hell_n and_o there_o they_o shall_v suffer_v intolerable_o and_o incomprehensible_o and_o then_o
