yield_v up_o of_o the_o heart_n and_o when_o it_o be_v in_o a_o manner_n indifferent_a what_o way_n god_n will_v take_v then_o your_o heart_n be_v come_v to_o a_o right_a frame_n second_o the_o second_o thing_n that_o i_o will_v say_v to_o you_o be_v this_o that_o there_o be_v so_o great_a evil_n in_o sin_n and_o o_o that_o god_n will_v make_v it_o take_v as_o great_a a_o impression_n upon_o you_o as_o if_o one_o from_o the_o dead_a speak_v it_o as_o the_o least_o stop_v one_o in_o the_o way_n of_o sin_n the_o least_o abate_v the_o power_n of_o sin_n have_v so_o much_o good_a in_o it_o as_o it_o be_v enough_o to_o countervail_v the_o great_a evil_n in_o the_o great_a affliction_n in_o the_o world_n o_o this_o principle_n will_v be_v of_o mighty_a use_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o people_n when_o any_o affliction_n do_v befall_v they_o or_o their_o family_n but_o do_v god_n by_o this_o at_o least_o stop_v i_o in_o any_o way_n of_o sin_n do_v not_o god_n by_o this_o some_o way_n or_o other_o help_v i_o against_o some_o sin_n o_o then_o the_o affliction_n be_v well_o pay_v for_o i_o have_v now_o a_o great_a good_n abundant_o than_o the_o evil_n of_o the_o affliction_n come_v to_o there_o be_v a_o little_a bitter_a but_o here_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o sweet_a three_o there_o be_v more_o good_a in_o any_o exercise_n of_o any_o grace_n than_o there_o be_v evil_a in_o the_o bear_n of_o any_o affliction_n if_o god_n do_v bring_v a_o affliction_n but_o for_o the_o exercise_n of_o any_o grace_n or_o for_o the_o stir_v up_o thy_o heart_n but_o to_o look_v towards_o he_o there_o may_v be_v more_o good_a in_o that_o than_o there_o be_v evil_a in_o any_o affliction_n perhaps_o thou_o be_v go_v up_o and_o down_o muddle_v in_o the_o world_n and_o thy_o thought_n be_v but_o little_a upon_o he_o before_o why_o if_o by_o affliction_n thou_o come_v but_o to_o look_v after_o god_n his_o be_v a_o great_a good_a than_o the_o evil_n of_o the_o affliction_n come_v to_o but_o if_o god_n bless_v thou_o so_o as_o thou_o come_v to_o exercise_n grace_n in_o it_o humility_n patience_n self-denial_n faith_n o_o here_o thy_o affliction_n be_v abundant_o make_v up_o oh_o labour_n therefore_o upon_o the_o consideration_n of_o this_o that_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n to_o submit_v humble_o to_o he_o this_o be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n suppose_v you_o have_v two_o child_n i_o will_v present_o do_v it_o though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o grievous_a and_o bitter_a i_o will_v take_v it_o now_o will_v it_o not_o make_v your_o heart_n relent_v towards_o such_o a_o child_n that_o shall_v be_v so_o yieldable_a will_v lie_v this_o way_n or_o that_o way_n take_v this_o thing_n or_o that_o thing_n and_o all_o because_o it_o come_v from_o a_o father_n if_o the_o child_n this_o world_n they_o can_v but_o have_v some_o affliction_n and_o some_o trouble_n attend_v these_o comfort_n for_o all_o creature_n comfort_n be_v mingle_v comfort_n now_o then_o then_o a_o man_n know_v right_o how_o to_o be_v full_a when_o he_o enjoy_v his_o fullness_n so_o as_o though_o he_o have_v some_o affliction_n mix_v yet_o he_o can_v tell_v how_o to_o make_v use_n of_o his_o affliction_n for_o his_o humiliation_n and_o his_o comfort_n for_o thanksgiving_n unto_o god_n at_o the_o same_o time_n whereas_o now_o abundance_n of_o people_n when_o they_o enjoy_v comfort_n if_o they_o meet_v with_o any_o trouble_n and_o affliction_n mix_v with_o their_o comfort_n they_o be_v fill_v so_o with_o vexation_n and_o bitterness_n and_o their_o spirit_n be_v so_o trouble_v that_o they_o lose_v all_o the_o good_a of_o their_o comfort_n as_o haman_n he_o do_v abound_v but_o he_o do_v not_o know_v how_o to_o abound_v therefore_o when_o he_o be_v but_o cross_v in_o one_o thing_n that_o mordecay_n do_v not_o bow_v the_o knee_n to_o he_o why_o all_o the_o comfort_n of_o his_o prosperity_n be_v take_v away_o and_o his_o spirit_n be_v fill_v with_o rage_n and_o bitterness_n and_o one_o cross_n do_v fall_v out_o that_o do_v displease_v they_o they_o be_v put_v into_o such_o a_o vexation_n and_o fret_a humour_n as_o they_o lose_v all_o the_o benefit_n of_o the_o comfort_n do_v thou_o know_v how_o to_o abound_v when_o as_o thou_o go_v abroad_o and_o something_o cross_v thou_o or_o thy_o servant_n do_v something_o amiss_o why_o present_o thou_o be_v in_o a_o rage_n and_o fret_v and_o all_o thy_o thanksgiving_n to_o god_n for_o all_o thy_o mercy_n that_o be_v forget_v nothing_o but_o fret_v and_o vex_v in_o the_o family_n for_o one_o cross_n when_o as_o there_o be_v a_o hundred_o mercy_n that_o thou_o shall_v bless_v god_n for_o thou_o do_v not_o know_v how_o to_o to_o abound_v when_o thou_o can_v not_o tell_v how_o to_o sever_v the_o good_a of_o mercy_n from_o he_o know_v not_o himself_o and_o so_o it_o have_v be_v ordinary_a with_o people_n that_o their_o abundance_n have_v take_v away_o the_o very_a knowledge_n of_o themselves_o they_o have_v grow_v wanton_a and_o foolish_a and_o proud_a that_o they_o have_v not_o know_v themselves_o when_o they_o have_v abound_v but_o now_o when_o a_o man_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o abundance_n know_v his_o own_o meaness_n and_o wretchedness_n and_o sinfulness_n and_o vileness_n notwithstanding_o his_o abundance_n here_o be_v a_o man_n that_o have_v learn_v this_o lesson_n of_o the_o apostle_n how_o to_o abound_v but_o this_o be_v a_o very_a difficult_a lesson_n if_o there_o be_v such_o thing_n as_o as_o these_o in_o learning_n how_o to_o abound_v sure_o the_o lesson_n must_v needs_o be_v difficult_a you_o that_o be_v mariner_n think_v if_o you_o have_v sea-room_n enough_o you_o be_v safe_a you_o care_v not_o then_o but_o it_o be_v otherwise_o in_o this_o that_o we_o be_v speak_v of_o your_o sea-room_n may_v be_v your_o undo_n and_o the_o more_o abundance_n you_o have_v the_o more_o difficult_a it_o will_v be_v for_o you_o to_o know_v how_o to_o order_v yourselves_o in_o your_o way_n i_o give_v divers_a reason_n why_o this_o lesson_n be_v more_o difficult_a than_o the_o other_o to_o know_v how_o to_o be_v full_a than_o to_o be_v empty_a which_o few_o people_n in_o the_o world_n will_v think_v so_o but_o certain_o it_o be_v so_o now_o though_o the_o very_a name_n of_o these_o thing_n may_v show_v he_o difficulty_n of_o it_o yet_o we_o shall_v come_v in_o the_o second_o place_n to_o show_v that_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o difficulty_n in_o man_n and_o woman_n know_v how_o to_o be_v full_a and_o i_o name_v this_o the_o rather_o because_o i_o will_v put_v your_o heart_n for_o the_o order_n of_o a_o man_n estate_n when_o it_o be_v low_a and_o mean_a in_o the_o world_n than_o when_o he_o come_v to_o be_v full_a it_o be_v a_o mad_a thing_n for_o a_o man_n that_o can_v but_o only_a row_n in_o the_o thames_n to_o undertake_v the_o command_n of_o one_o of_o your_o great_a ship_n and_o so_o it_o be_v for_o those_o that_o be_v mean_a if_o god_n do_v not_o teach_v they_o how_o to_o be_v full_a they_o be_v like_a to_o undo_v themselves_o by_o their_o fullness_n as_o well_o as_o any_o way_n it_o be_v easy_a for_o a_o man_n to_o manage_v a_o little_a estate_n that_o he_o in_o fullness_n than_o in_o other_o way_n as_o extremity_n of_o heat_n be_v hard_a to_o bear_v than_o cold_a though_o it_o be_v very_o cold_a yet_o by_o exercise_n we_o may_v get_v ourselves_o a_o heat_n but_o when_o it_o be_v extreme_a hot_a weather_n that_o be_v very_o tedious_a and_o it_o breed_v disease_n and_o so_o it_o be_v easy_a to_o carry_v a_o cup_n that_o be_v but_o half_a full_a steady_o than_o to_o carry_v a_o cup_n that_o be_v brimful_a and_o a_o traveller_n you_o know_v the_o expression_n the_o storm_n and_o the_o tempest_n make_v he_o to_o get_v his_o cloak_n close_o together_o and_o to_o hold_v it_o fast_o but_o when_o the_o warm_a beam_n of_o the_o sun_n come_v and_o shine_v upon_o he_o that_o make_v he_o cast_v off_o his_o cloak_n you_o know_v the_o fable_n of_o the_o sun_n and_o the_o wind_n to_o get_v the_o traveller_n cloak_n which_o shall_v do_v it_o when_o the_o wind_n come_v bluster_a that_o can_v not_o do_v it_o but_o the_o warm_a sun_n beam_n that_o make_v he_o throw_v it_o off_o so_o many_o time_n those_o that_o can_v hold_v fast_o in_o the_o time_n of_o adversity_n yet_o in_o the_o time_n of_o prosperity_n they_o lose_v the_o seem_a grace_n that_o they_o have_v before_o and_o so_o let_v all_o go_v now_o there_o be_v divers_a reason_n that_o i_o shall_v give_v you_o why_o it_o be_v thus_o difficult_a to_o learn_v this_o lesson_n as_o first_o because_o we_o be_v most_o of_o we_o flesh_n we_o be_v more_o flesh_n than_o spirit_n of_o ourselves_o now_o because_o we_o have_v so_o little_a spirit_n in_o we_o therefore_o all_o those_o thing_n that_o shall_v come_v for_o to_o join_v with_o the_o flesh_n i_o do_v not_o now_o speak_v of_o corruption_n but_o to_o join_v with_o our_o natural_a part_n and_o sensual_a part_n we_o have_v so_o little_a spirit_n in_o we_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v dangerous_a for_o we_o to_o manage_v those_o thing_n that_o join_v with_o our_o natural_a part_n that_o be_v flesh_n though_o it_o be_v not_o corrupt_v yet_o because_o we_o have_v so_o little_a spirit_n that_o be_v first_o we_o have_v lose_v the_o image_n of_o god_n the_o best_a of_o we_o have_v but_o little_a of_o the_o image_n of_o god_n other_o have_v lose_v be_v quite_o and_o then_o our_o very_a reason_n be_v wound_v by_o our_o fall_n therefore_o have_v so_o little_a strength_n in_o our_o spirit_n all_o those_o thing_n that_o come_v to_o join_v with_o the_o flesh_n do_v very_o much_o endanger_v we_o and_o do_v indeed_o very_o much_o weaken_v our_o better_a part_n now_o adversity_n that_o pull_v from_o the_o flesh_n that_o take_v from_o the_o flesh_n and_o many_o time_n the_o spirit_n be_v much_o the_o strong_a but_o what_o do_v add_v to_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o flesh_n do_v endanger_v we_o as_o it_o be_v more_o dangerous_a to_o set_v a_o child_n upon_o a_o pamper_a horse_n than_o upon_o a_o horse_n that_o be_v weary_v out_o with_o work_n and_o so_o for_o we_o that_o be_v weak_a in_o our_o spirit_n to_o have_v our_o flesh_n to_o be_v pamper_a and_o satisfy_v i_o now_o speak_v but_o of_o our_o natural_a flesh_n and_o sensual_a part_n to_o be_v pamper_a and_o full_o satisfy_v there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o danger_n in_o that_o and_o then_o far_o in_o prosperity_n there_o be_v more_o duty_n require_v than_o in_o adversity_n a_o man_n that_o be_v in_o a_o mean_a estate_n and_o condition_n a_o account_n for_o they_o well_o all_o this_o be_v but_o to_o awaken_v the_o heart_n of_o people_n that_o have_v the_o comfort_n of_o this_o world_n that_o they_o may_v not_o satisfy_v themselves_o with_o what_o they_o enjoy_v but_o seek_v what_o they_o can_v to_o learn_v to_o be_v full_a and_o the_o excellency_n of_o this_o lesson_n of_o learning_n to_o be_v full_a be_v very_o great_a for_o will_v my_o soul_n be_v here_o ready_a and_o willing_a to_o accept_v of_o the_o covenant_n whatever_o it_o be_v further_o he_o do_v give_v up_o himself_o to_o be_v mould_v by_o the_o gospel_n according_a to_o that_o phrase_n in_o rom._n 6._o 17._o the_o doctrine_n into_o which_o you_o be_v deliver_v so_o it_o be_v in_o the_o original_a that_o be_v there_o be_v a_o deliver_v of_o the_o soul_n up_o to_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n as_o the_o mettle_n be_v to_o the_o mould_n to_o be_v fashion_v by_o it_o so_o here_o a_o son_n of_o peace_n do_v give_v up_o his_o soul_n to_o be_v mould_v by_o the_o word_n whatsoever_o he_o be_v before_o yet_o here_o he_o be_v now_o ready_a to_o give_v up_o his_o soul_n to_o be_v fashion_v to_o be_v frame_v by_o the_o word_n here_o be_v a_o son_n of_o peace_n further_o he_o do_v in_o his_o conversation_n act_n what_o he_o do_v hear_v in_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n and_o he_o do_v endeavour_n to_o live_v according_a to_o the_o glorious_a gospel_n that_o he_o do_v hear_v and_o he_o do_v labour_n to_o become_v the_o gospel_n so_o that_o one_o may_v know_v in_o such_o a_o one_o family_n and_o in_o such_o a_o one_o life_n a_o mighty_a deal_n of_o alteration_n and_o again_o such_o a_o one_o as_o be_v beget_v by_o it_o be_v not_o only_o obedient_a but_o indeed_o there_o be_v the_o work_n of_o regeneration_n wrought_v and_o therefore_o he_o may_v be_v call_v a_o son_n say_v the_o apostle_n i_o have_v beget_v you_o by_o the_o gospel_n and_o so_o by_o the_o word_n of_o truth_n you_o be_v beget_v abundance_n of_o of_o the_o gospel_n yet_o know_v it_o be_v a_o sad_a condition_n for_o yourselves_o you_o that_o heretofore_o have_v hear_v those_o bless_a thing_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o your_o heart_n have_v be_v vild_a it_o be_v that_o wicked_a thought_n vile_a base_a unworthy_a unclean_a filthy_a thought_n can_v abide_v upon_o you_o if_o the_o devil_n dart_n in_o temptation_n they_o will_v abide_v and_o rest_v why_o when_o he_o dart_v they_o in_o overnight_o he_o can_v find_v they_o in_o the_o morning_n perhaps_o if_o you_o have_v some_o vain_a or_o unclean_a thought_n you_o can_v role_n they_o up_o your_o spirit_n these_o thing_n can_v abide_v now_o what_o shall_v vile_a filthy_a ungodly_a thought_n rest_n in_o your_o heart_n and_o shall_v not_o the_o bless_a and_o glorious_a truth_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n rest_n upon_o your_o heart_n yea_o consider_v further_o that_o it_o be_v a_o most_o dangerous_a thing_n for_o a_o essay_n of_o upon_o they_o but_o now_o when_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o gospel_n shall_v come_v to_o make_v a_o essay_n upon_o the_o heart_n to_o make_v as_o it_o be_v a_o trial_n upon_o the_o heart_n and_o to_o have_v the_o repulse_n this_o be_v a_o dangerous_a thing_n for_o a_o offer_n of_o god_n grace_n to_o be_v reject_v be_v very_o sad_a to_o loose_v one_o opportunity_n of_o god_n mercy_n be_v a_o very_a sad_a thing_n how_o do_v thou_o know_v that_o ever_o they_o will_v come_v upon_o thy_o heart_n with_o that_o power_n that_o once_o they_o do_v and_o therefore_o thy_o condition_n be_v very_o sad_a i_o god_n know_v this_o be_v my_o condition_n i_o come_v many_o time_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o i_o meet_v with_o those_o truth_n that_o do_v mighty_o take_v my_o heart_n for_o the_o present_a but_o the_o lord_n know_v all_o vanish_v again_o i_o think_v i_o can_v remember_v every_o thing_n that_o the_o minister_n speak_v while_o i_o be_o hear_v of_o they_o but_o they_o go_v out_o again_o i_o hear_v that_o this_o be_v the_o blessing_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o son_n of_o peace_n that_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n shall_v abide_v upon_o their_o heart_n and_o rest_n there_o o_o they_o do_v not_o rest_v with_o i_o now_o and_o then_o they_o come_v to_o i_o but_o they_o do_v not_o rest_v with_o i_o now_o for_o the_o answer_n to_o this_o perhaps_o they_o may_v not_o rest_v in_o thy_o memory_n but_o yet_o if_o the_o fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o they_o do_v rest_n in_o thy_o heart_n thou_o have_v the_o gospel_n rest_v in_o thy_o heart_n as_o thus_o why_o perhaps_o the_o water_n may_v pass_v through_o a_o vessel_n go_v quite_o through_o it_o and_o not_o stay_v i_o but_o yet_o there_o be_v so_o much_o fruit_n of_o the_o passage_n of_o it_o through_o as_o to_o keep_v the_o vessel_n sweet_a though_o you_o can_v take_v up_o any_o water_n from_o it_o but_o it_o be_v all_o go_v yet_o i_o say_v it_o keep_v the_o vessel_n sweet_a so_o i_o may_v say_v to_o those_o that_o have_v the_o weak_a memory_n and_o yet_o the_o lord_n have_v wrought_v any_o degree_n of_o grace_n though_o thy_o memory_n be_v so_o weak_a that_o thou_o can_v not_o remember_v i_o speak_v this_o to_o those_o that_o have_v weak_a memory_n natural_o and_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o their_o soul_n do_v more_o desire_n than_o this_o o_o that_o they_o may_v keep_v those_o thing_n that_o they_o hear_v they_o will_v think_v themselves_o the_o most_o happy_a creature_n in_o the_o world_n if_o those_o truth_n that_o sometime_o they_o hear_v may_v rest_v upon_o they_o i_o speak_v to_o those_o be_v it_o so_o with_o thy_o heart_n then_o though_o thou_o can_v not_o remember_v yet_o if_o those_o truth_n keep_v thy_o heart_n sweet_a they_o keep_v thy_o heart_n from_o filthy_a lust_n that_o they_o do_v not_o abide_v in_o thy_o heart_n thy_o heart_n be_v keep_v savoury_n by_o they_o if_o there_o be_v this_o effect_n abide_v upon_o thy_o heart_n to_o keep_v it_o savoury_n and_o sweet_a this_o peace_n of_o the_o gospel_n may_v rest_v with_o thou_o though_o thou_o can_v not_o remember_v particular_n a_o man_n or_o woman_n perhaps_o they_o can_v remember_v what_o meat_n they_o eat_v a_o little_a while_n since_o but_o they_o find_v themselves_o nourish_v by_o that_o meat_n so_o for_o the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o
