any_o manner_n beseem_v the_o christian_n man_n but_o while_o the_o lord_n urge_v this_o at_o his_o people_n hand_n that_o they_o have_v no_o fellowship_n with_o such_o unfruitful_a work_n of_o common_a to_o both_o the_o necessity_n whereof_o be_v so_o great_a private_a that_o if_o they_o be_v not_o know_v and_o use_v right_o and_o in_o good_a sort_n the_o public_a will_v prove_v but_o unprofitable_a and_o the_o whole_a life_n out_o of_o square_a as_o shall_v be_v see_v when_o we_o come_v to_o handle_v and_o speak_v more_o particular_o of_o the_o right_a use_n of_o they_o and_o of_o make_v most_o for_o this_o present_a purpose_n that_o be_v most_o large_o of_o those_o mean_n which_o with_o their_o use_n be_v less_o know_v and_o more_o brief_o of_o those_o with_o which_o man_n be_v most_o acquaint_v neither_o let_v this_o trouble_v the_o reader_n that_o i_o have_v make_v mention_n of_o some_o of_o they_o by_o other_o occasion_n in_o some_o other_o place_n for_o whereas_o it_o may_v be_v object_v that_o these_o mean_n call_v help_n be_v speak_v of_o in_o other_o treatise_n of_o this_o book_n as_o part_n of_o a_o christian_n duty_n i_o answer_v it_o be_v true_a for_o though_o i_o deny_v not_o but_o that_o all_o the_o duty_n of_o a_o christian_a man_n be_v also_o help_v to_o live_v happy_o yet_o who_o do_v not_o see_v that_o these_o here_o mention_v as_o the_o word_n and_o the_o sacrament_n watch_v and_o prayer_n with_o the_o other_o be_v more_o proper_o so_o call_v as_o more_o special_o fit_v we_o for_o the_o right_n perform_v of_o all_o duty_n beside_o in_o other_o place_n i_o speak_v of_o they_o by_o occasion_n and_o therefore_o more_o brief_o but_o here_o of_o purpose_n and_o therefore_o more_o large_o but_o let_v it_o suffice_v that_o i_o the_o other_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o manifest_a difference_n betwixt_o they_o so_o that_o the_o one_o be_v not_o the_o other_o and_o so_o i_o take_v it_o the_o apostle_n mean_v in_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o ephesian_n where_o when_o he_o have_v name_v diverse_a duty_n as_o mercy_n love_n kindness_n ephes_n chap._n 4._o &_o 5._o which_o be_v part_n of_o the_o armour_n yet_o he_o say_v after_o ephes_n chap._n 6.14_o stand_v fast_o in_o your_o armour_n when_o you_o have_v put_v it_o on_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o show_v kindness_n mercy_n to_o some_o person_n at_o some_o time_n and_o to_o have_v the_o use_n of_o the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o armour_n when_o occasion_n shall_v be_v offer_v but_o to_o put_v and_o keep_v they_o on_o that_o so_o we_o may_v ever_o have_v they_o in_o a_o readiness_n to_o be_v use_v even_o as_o woman_n do_v not_o only_o trim_a and_o dress_v their_o house_n with_o flower_n but_o they_o have_v also_o their_o garden_n be_v set_v and_o fill_v with_o they_o from_o whence_o they_o may_v have_v they_o always_o for_o such_o use_n this_o i_o think_v good_a to_o say_v about_o the_o matter_n in_o hand_n to_o free_v the_o reader_n from_o some_o doubt_n now_o i_o will_v proceed_v to_o the_o next_o chapter_n chap._n 2._o of_o the_o public_a help_n to_o increase_v godliness_n and_o namely_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o which_o he_o have_v in_o every_o state_n of_o he_o as_o either_o lamentation_n complaint_n or_o supplication_n in_o his_o affliction_n or_o joy_n and_o thanks_n for_o deliverance_n and_o prosperity_n by_o this_o understand_v what_o manner_n of_o exercise_n meditation_n be_v even_o such_o a_o exercise_n it_o be_v which_o be_v require_v of_o thou_o from_o time_n to_o time_n as_o may_v be_v convenient_a through_o thy_o life_n that_o by_o record_v holy_a and_o divine_a thing_n especial_o those_o which_o may_v make_v thou_o sound_v in_o the_o matter_n of_o thy_o salvation_n a_o little_a also_o grow_v sick_a of_o the_o same_o disease_n and_o while_o the_o chief_a thought_n be_v how_o to_o live_v and_o their_o help_n small_a to_o live_v daily_o to_o god_n they_o have_v lean_a soul_n and_o now_o and_o then_o only_o be_v in_o a_o well_o order_v course_n and_o that_o with_o much_o ado_n so_o far_o be_v it_o off_o that_o they_o have_v any_o daily_a taste_n of_o heaven_n in_o this_o life_n which_o how_o common_a soever_o it_o be_v to_o be_v find_v almost_o in_o every_o place_n where_o god_n have_v any_o church_n yet_o we_o must_v not_o think_v that_o it_o can_v be_v no_o otherwise_o as_o though_o common_a christian_n be_v not_o able_a to_o reach_v and_o attain_v to_o any_o daily_a serve_v of_o god_n joyful_o if_o diligence_n be_v use_v in_o beat_v thing_n into_o they_o oft_o for_o both_o we_o may_v find_v here_o and_o there_o some_o few_o who_o do_v happy_o enjoy_v that_o care_n and_o liberty_n daily_o and_o also_o many_o moan_n and_o long_o for_o it_o at_o first_o when_o they_o have_v but_o a_o dim_a sight_n &_o small_a taste_n of_o it_o but_o they_o be_v not_o train_v to_o it_o nor_o further_v in_o it_o to_o who_o otherwise_o it_o shall_v be_v most_o love_v and_o to_o good_a work_n by_o word_n and_o example_n and_o beside_o this_o that_o if_o they_o sin_n as_o other_o man_n they_o be_v sure_a to_o meet_v with_o the_o punishment_n of_o other_o man_n in_o just_a reproach_n and_o a_o ill_a name_n deserve_o in_o a_o evil_a conscience_n and_o many_o vexation_n beside_o many_o bad_a deal_n which_o they_o find_v at_o the_o hand_n of_o wicked_a person_n which_o they_o may_v have_v be_v void_a of_o beside_o these_o i_o say_v what_o a_o judgement_n be_v it_o that_o they_o be_v bear_v to_o honour_n have_v deprive_v themselves_o of_o it_o chap._n 11._o of_o the_o remedy_n against_o this_o worldly_a lust_n namely_o covetousness_n and_o excessive_a love_n of_o riches_n but_o to_o set_v down_o somewhat_o more_o clear_o and_o distinct_o for_o help_v and_o redress_v of_o this_o sin_n of_o covetousness_n and_o worldly_a lust_n because_o i_o have_v somewhat_o large_o speak_v of_o the_o same_o i_o can_v wish_v that_o the_o remedy_n and_o reason_n to_o redress_v these_o many_o and_o dangerous_a sin_n and_o to_o prevent_v the_o same_o it_o where_o they_o have_v not_o as_o yet_o break_v out_o in_o many_o of_o god_n people_n that_o the_o remedy_n i_o say_v and_o reason_n against_o they_o be_v well_o mark_v and_o also_o the_o direction_n how_o to_o use_v they_o both_o as_o follow_v due_o regard_v and_o to_o begin_v with_o the_o
