very_a grievous_a burden_n to_o they_o why_o here_o be_v the_o reason_n because_o to_o worship_n god_n be_v to_o draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n and_o the_o guilt_n that_o be_v upon_o they_o have_v make_v the_o presence_n of_o god_n terrible_a to_o they_o and_o therefore_o they_o have_v rather_o go_v into_o their_o company_n &_o be_v merry_a eat_v drink_v sport_n or_o any_o thing_n rather_o than_o to_o come_v into_o god_n presence_n we_o know_v how_o it_o be_v with_o adam_n when_o god_n appear_v in_o the_o garden_n and_o call_v to_o he_o he_o run_v to_o hide_v himself_o why_o because_o he_o have_v guiltiness_n upon_o he_o oh_o the_o evil_a that_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n bring_v upon_o the_o soul_n it_o make_v the_o presence_n of_o god_n terrible_a the_o presence_n of_o god_n it_o shall_v be_v discouragement_n unto_o prayer_n or_o any_o other_o duty_n of_o worship_n than_o a_o encouragement_n to_o that_o i_o answer_v thus_o though_o we_o be_v very_o poor_a and_o mean_a yet_o it_o do_v not_o hinder_v but_o we_o may_v tender_v up_o that_o to_o god_n which_o god_n will_v acknowledge_v to_o be_v suitable_a to_o his_o infinite_a excelencie_n as_o first_o if_o we_o tender_v up_o to_o god_n all_o that_o we_o have_v though_o we_o be_v never_o so_o poor_a and_o mean_a yet_o if_o god_n have_v the_o strength_n of_o our_o soul_n god_n accept_v it_o for_o we_o be_v to_o know_v that_o god_n do_v not_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o what_o we_o have_v or_o of_o what_o we_o do_v but_o that_o we_o may_v show_v our_o respect_n to_o he_o therefore_o if_o we_o give_v all_o that_o we_o have_v god_n accept_v it_o as_o a_o child_n if_o it_o put_v forth_o all_o its_o strength_n that_o it_o have_v to_o do_v a_o business_n which_o the_o father_n bid_v he_o whether_o the_o business_n be_v do_v or_o no_o the_o father_n look_v upon_o it_o and_o accept_v it_o as_o suitable_a to_o the_o child_n strength_n and_o it_o show_v the_o respect_n that_o the_o child_n have_v to_o his_o father_n and_o as_o it_o be_v story_v of_o a_o emperor_n that_o when_o a_o poor_a man_n have_v nothing_o to_o offer_v he_o but_o a_o little_a water_n that_o he_o have_v take_v up_o with_o his_o hand_n he_o have_v nothing_o else_o the_o emperor_n accept_v of_o it_o so_o that_o be_v that_o which_o god_n look_v for_o that_o the_o creature_n shall_v lift_v he_o above_o all_o if_o therefore_o when_o thou_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n god_n have_v more_o of_o thy_o heart_n then_o ever_o any_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n have_v god_n accept_v of_o that_o and_o that_o you_o must_v look_v unto_o can_v you_o some_o come_v and_o offer_v badgers-skin_n and_o some_o woman_n do_v spin_v and_o offer_a coats-hair_n to_o the_o build_n of_o the_o temple_n and_o so_o god_n accept_v of_o that_o be_v the_o most_o they_o can_v do_v 2_o in_o the_o second_o place_n when_o we_o do_v not_o only_o offer_v unto_o god_n the_o most_o we_o can_v but_o when_o we_o add_v to_o this_o the_o grief_n of_o our_o soul_n that_o we_o can_v do_v no_o more_o when_o the_o soul_n shall_v strive_v to_o the_o uttermost_a it_o can_v and_o when_o it_o have_v do_v all_o sai_z i_o be_o a_o unprofitable_a servant_n oh_o that_o i_o can_v do_v more_o this_o be_v suitable_a to_o god_n 3_o three_o the_o people_n of_o god_n though_o they_o be_v weak_a yet_o the_o weak_a servant_n of_o god_n be_v able_a to_o offer_v up_o to_o god_n somewhat_o that_o be_v suitable_a to_o the_o infinite_a majesty_n of_o god_n upon_o this_o three_o ground_n because_o that_o there_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o impression_n of_o god_n infinitnes_n in_o those_o service_n that_o a_o gracious_a heart_n do_v tender_a unto_o god_n and_o therefore_o suitable_a unto_o god_n you_o will_v say_v god_n be_v a_o infinite_a glorious_a god_n be_v it_o so_o he_o be_v infinite_a that_o be_v certain_a but_o the_o duty_n of_o worship_n that_o a_o gracious_a heart_n tender_v unto_o god_n it_o have_v a_o impression_n of_o god_n infiniteness_n upon_o it_o how_o have_v true_a grace_n yet_o such_o a_o one_o do_v limit_v himself_o he_o do_v great_a thing_n but_o he_o do_v it_o so_o as_o he_o limit_n himself_o that_o be_v so_o much_o as_o may_v serve_v for_o such_o and_o such_o end_n of_o he_o so_o much_o as_o may_v serve_v his_o turn_n either_o to_o satisfy_v his_o conscience_n or_o to_o get_v credit_n and_o esteem_v to_o be_v account_v eminent_a in_o such_o a_o way_n so_o much_o he_o do_v do_v but_o his_o duty_n be_v always_o limit_v within_o such_o bound_n and_o if_o he_o can_v conceive_v that_o he_o may_v go_v to_o heaven_n and_o that_o he_o may_v have_v as_o much_o credit_n and_o honour_n and_o as_o much_o peace_n of_o conscience_n with_o do_v less_o he_o will_v do_v less_o but_o now_o one_o that_o have_v grace_n though_o but_o little_a though_o but_o the_o least_o dram_n of_o grace_n he_o go_v far_a indeed_o say_v he_o though_o through_o the_o little_a grace_n that_o i_o have_v i_o can_v do_v what_o another_o can_v do_v yet_o this_o do_v so_o enlarge_v my_o heart_n that_o i_o will_v have_v no_o bound_n set_v in_o what_o i_o do_v for_o god_n but_o i_o will_v have_v it_o enlarge_v to_o the_o uttermost_a latitude_n if_o it_o be_v possible_a beyond_o what_o ever_o yet_o be_v do_v for_o god_n in_o the_o world_n and_o the_o more_o i_o do_v the_o more_o i_o do_v desire_n to_o do_v that_o be_v now_o a_o kind_n of_o infinitnes_n that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n where_o grace_n come_v i_o say_v grace_n enlarge_v the_o heart_n to_o a_o kind_n of_o infiniteness_n that_o the_o more_o it_o do_v the_o more_o it_o will_v do_v there_o be_v no_o hypocrite_n but_o will_v have_v his_o period_n he_o will_v rise_v thus_o and_o thus_o and_o thus_o high_a ordinary_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o if_o he_o live_v in_o some_o company_n there_o he_o be_v high_a but_o if_o he_o live_v in_o other_o company_n there_o he_o be_v low_a now_o there_o be_v nothing_o do_v limit_v a_o gracious_a heart_n but_o to_o all_o eternity_n it_o will_v work_v and_o work_v more_o and_o more_o for_o god_n here_o now_o be_v a_o worship_n that_o be_v some_o way_n suitable_a to_o the_o infinite_a excellency_n that_o there_o be_v in_o god_n creature_n here_o be_v the_o image_n of_o god_n indeed_o because_o grace_n do_v so_o enlarge_v the_o heart_n even_o to_o a_o infiniteness_n as_o it_o be_v for_o god_n and_o thus_o you_o see_v in_o the_o general_n what_o it_o be_v to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n to_o tender_v up_o to_o god_n that_o which_o be_v some_o way_n suitable_a to_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o infinite_a god_n 2_o you_o know_v a_o god_n that_o be_v willing_a to_o do_v good_a to_o his_o poor_a creature_n that_o be_v in_o misery_n second_o it_o shall_v make_v i_o to_o come_v with_o a_o heart_n sensible_a of_o the_o need_n of_o this_o mercy_n o_o lord_n i_o have_v have_v my_o heart_n let_v out_o to_o other_o vain_a thing_n heretofore_o but_o now_o lord_n thy_o mercy_n it_o be_v that_o my_o soul_n come_v for_o as_o know_v it_o and_o therefore_o they_o come_v the_o more_o full_o when_o they_o come_v to_o ask_v jesus_n christ_n himself_o and_o his_o spirit_n that_o be_v more_o worth_a than_o ten_o thousand_o world_n they_o come_v with_o more_o freedom_n of_o spirit_n then_o when_o they_o come_v to_o ask_v their_o health_n and_o the_o like_a four_o it_o will_v be_v likewise_o another_o mean_n of_o sanctify_v this_o attribute_n of_o god_n when_o thou_o come_v to_o he_o if_o thou_o do_v come_v with_o a_o merciful_a heart_n towards_o thy_o brethren_n take_v heed_n whensoever_o you_o come_v to_o i_o have_v of_o god_n mercy_n and_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o never_o regard_v to_o avoid_v those_o thing_n that_o may_v hinder_v the_o work_n of_o his_o grace_n upon_o i_o 11_o consider_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n that_o be_v another_o attribute_n consider_v that_o thou_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o a_o infinite_a righteous_a and_o just_a god_n do_v not_o think_v that_o if_o thou_o be_v a_o believer_n that_o thou_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n for_o certain_o thou_o be_v to_o sanctify_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n now_o you_o will_v say_v how_o shall_v a_o believer_n sanctify_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n thus_o first_o he_o shall_v be_v apprehensive_a sensible_a
how_o by_o sin_n he_o have_v put_v himself_o under_o justice_n and_o deserve_v the_o stroke_n of_o justice_n to_o be_v upon_o he_o to_o eternity_n he_o shall_v consider_v what_o he_o be_v in_o himself_o it_o be_v true_a that_o jesus_n christ_n have_v come_v between_o a_o believe_a soul_n and_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o father_n and_o have_v take_v the_o stroke_n of_o justice_n upon_o himself_o yea_o but_o though_o he_o have_v do_v it_o it_o do_v not_o hinder_v but_o that_o thou_o shall_v be_v apprehensive_a of_o what_o thou_o have_v deserve_v thyself_o second_o here_o be_v a_o special_a thing_n in_o the_o sanctify_a of_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n when_o we_o come_v before_o he_o we_o shall_v consider_v that_o we_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o a_o infinite_a just_a god_n and_o therefore_o not_o to_o dare_v to_o come_v but_o through_o a_o mediator_n here_o you_o have_v the_o reason_n why_o we_o must_v tender_v up_o all_o in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n because_o when_o we_o be_v to_o come_v before_o god_n we_o be_v to_o sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o his_o justice_n for_o thou_o to_o think_v thus_o i_o have_v sin_v and_o god_n be_v merciful_a and_o i_o will_v go_v and_o pray_v to_o he_o that_o he_o may_v be_v merciful_a and_o there_o be_v a_o end_n be_v this_o all_o oh_o no_o god_n require_v the_o sanctify_a of_o his_o justice_n and_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o do_v sanctify_v his_o justice_n so_o much_o as_o this_o that_o when_o a_o poor_a creature_n see_v the_o infinite_a distance_n that_o sin_n have_v make_v between_o that_o infinite_a god_n and_o it_o it_o see_v that_o through_o sin_n it_o have_v make_v its_o self_n liable_a to_o justice_n and_o when_o it_o see_v that_o there_o be_v a_o absolute_a necessity_n that_o infinite_a justice_n must_v have_v satisfaction_n and_o think_v the_o sinner_n if_o it_o come_v to_o i_o that_o i_o must_v satisfy_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n i_o be_o never_o able_a to_o do_v it_o but_o there_o be_v a_o mediator_n and_o therefore_o i_o will_v fly_v to_o he_o and_o by_o faith_n tender_v up_o to_o the_o father_n all_o the_o merit_n of_o his_o son_n as_o a_o full_a satisfaction_n to_o his_o infinite_a justice_n when_o thou_o come_v thus_o before_o the_o lord_n thou_o sanctifieâ—_n his_o name_n indeed_o many_o think_v that_o when_o they_o come_v to_o pray_v they_o shall_v look_v upon_o god_n grace_n and_o mercy_n and_o not_o upon_o his_o justice_n but_o thou_o must_v look_v upon_o both_o another_o attribute_n it_o be_v god_n faithfulness_n consider_v thou_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o a_o god_n of_o infinite_a truth_n and_o faithfulness_n and_o therefore_o look_v upon_o he_o as_o a_o object_n of_o thy_o faith_n to_o rest_v upon_o and_o likewise_o thou_o must_v bring_v a_o faithful_a heart_n suitable_a some_o way_n to_o this_o faithfulness_n of_o god_n that_o be_v a_o heart_n faithful_a with_o he_o to_o keep_v within_o the_o covenant_n that_o thou_o have_v enter_v into_o and_o to_o perform_v all_o the_o vow_n that_o thou_o make_v with_o god_n remember_v thou_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o a_o faithful_a god_n and_o as_o the_o lord_n delight_v to_o manifest_v his_o righteousness_n to_o poor_a creature_n that_o seek_v his_o face_n so_o this_o god_n do_v expect_v that_o thou_o shall_v â—_o be_v faithful_a in_o all_o the_o covenant_n that_o thou_o do_v make_v with_o he_o and_o this_o be_v to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n now_o then_o put_v all_o these_o attribute_n of_o god_n together_o and_o there_o you_o have_v his_o glory_n the_o infiniteness_n of_o his_o glory_n the_o shine_n and_o lustre_n of_o all_o the_o attribute_n together_o be_v god_n glory_n i_o have_v then_o to_o deal_v with_o a_o glorious_a god_n and_o let_v i_o labour_n to_o perform_v such_o service_n as_o may_v have_v a_o spiritual_a glory_n upon_o they_o that_o some_o image_n of_o the_o divine_a lustre_n that_o there_o be_v in_o god_n may_v be_v upon_o my_o service_n and_o let_v i_o look_v for_o glorious_a thing_n see_v i_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o such_o a_o glorious_a god_n you_o will_v say_v here_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o do_v in_o serve_v of_o god_n how_o much_o be_v here_o that_o we_o must_v do_v i_o appeal_v to_o any_o gracious_a heart_n what_o can_v thou_o want_v of_o any_o of_o these_o or_o what_o will_v thou_o want_v do_v thou_o say_v here_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n can_v there_o be_v too_o much_o to_o make_v thou_o happy_a these_o thing_n be_v not_o only_o thy_o duty_n but_o thy_o happiness_n glory_n and_o excellency_n consist_v in_o they_o if_o any_o one_o shall_v bring_v you_o a_o great_a many_o jewel_n and_o pearl_n will_v you_o say_v here_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n ado_n oh_o no_o the_o more_o the_o merry_a so_o say_v i_o this_o one_o meditation_n will_v take_v off_o the_o thought_n of_o a_o great_a deal_n for_o in_o all_o these_o my_o happiness_n consist_v and_o the_o more_o i_o have_v of_o these_o the_o more_o shall_v i_o enjoy_v of_o god_n the_o more_o happy_a shall_v i_o be_v both_o here_o and_o for_o ever_o now_o i_o have_v think_v to_o have_v give_v you_o some_o reason_n why_o the_o name_n of_o god_n must_v be_v sanctify_v only_o i_o these_o the_o lord_n expect_v that_o thou_o shall_v thus_o sanctify_v his_o name_n thou_o have_v little_a cause_n to_o rest_v upon_o any_o thing_n that_o thou_o have_v do_v thou_o have_v cause_v rather_o to_o go_v alone_o and_o mourn_v for_o take_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o vain_a in_o the_o duty_n of_o his_o worship_n rest_v not_o in_o any_o of_o your_o performance_n labour_v to_o perform_v duty_n as_o well_o as_o you_o can_v but_o when_o you_o have_v do_v know_v that_o you_o be_v unprofitable_a servant_n after_o all_o and_o renounce_v all_o as_o in_o the_o point_n of_o himself_o asthe_v high_a end_n and_o so_o will_v that_o all_o thing_n that_o have_v any_o being_n shall_v some_o way_n or_o other_o work_n for_o himself_o this_o be_v the_o very_a nature_n of_o god_n it_o be_v that_o which_o i_o conceive_v the_o very_a nature_n of_o god_n holinsse_n consist_v in_o the_o willing_a himself_o as_o the_o last_o end_n and_o so_o to_o work_v all_o thing_n as_o be_v suitable_a unto_o his_o own_o infinite_a excellency_n now_o as_o this_o be_v god_n holiness_n so_o it_o be_v the_o holiness_n that_o god_n require_v in_o his_o creature_n that_o be_v capable_a of_o holiness_n that_o they_o shall_v will_v he_o as_o the_o last_o end_n and_o all_o thing_n suitable_a to_o that_o infinite_a excellency_n of_o he_o now_o if_o this_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o god_n and_o worship_v he_o to_o think_v thus_o let_v i_o look_v to_o it_o to_o sanctify_v his_o name_n now_o for_o i_o hear_v that_o god_n will_v sanctify_v it_o himself_o if_o i_o do_v not_o do_v it_o but_o then_o on_o the_o other_o side_n if_o so_o be_v that_o thou_o make_v conscience_n of_o sanctify_a god_n name_n in_o duty_n than_o he_o will_v sanctify_v his_o name_n in_o a_o way_n of_o mercy_n that_o glory_n to_o thou_o when_o thou_o be_v worship_v of_o he_o there_o be_v a_o excellent_a scripture_n for_o this_o exod_a 29._o 43._o there_o i_o will_v meet_v with_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n and_o the_o tabernacle_n shall_v be_v sanctify_v by_o my_o glory_n thou_o that_o have_v a_o gracious_a heart_n and_o art_n worship_v of_o god_n in_o sincerity_n thou_o be_v as_o a_o tabernacle_n of_o god_n and_o god_n have_v his_o service_n and_o worship_n from_o thou_o thou_o be_v as_o the_o temple_n of_o god_n and_o there_o will_v i_o meet_v with_o thou_o say_v god_n and_o i_o will_v sanctify_v my_o tabernacle_n by_o my_o glory_n god_n will_v sanctify_v thy_o heart_n by_o his_o glory_n if_o thou_o do_v sanctify_v his_o name_n further_n thou_o shall_v it_o may_v be_v not_o always_o have_v such_o how_o we_o shall_v sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o draw_v nigh_o unto_o he_o in_o the_o word_n sacrament_n and_o prayer_n we_o may_v choose_v several_a text_n for_o all_o these_o but_o they_o fall_v full_a within_o the_o general_a and_o therefore_o it_o shall_v be_v sufficient_a for_o to_o ground_v the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n in_o these_o duty_n of_o worship_n upon_o this_o text_n i_o of_o sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n that_o which_o we_o be_v to_o speak_v to_o this_o morning_n it_o be_v the_o sanctify_a of_o the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o consequence_n and_o i_o hope_v it_o may_v do_v good_a to_o help_v to_o make_v many_o sermon_n to_o be_v profitable_a to_o you_o &_o the_o point_n i_o hope_n be_v seasonable_a &_o will_v be_v very_o suitable_a unto_o you_o for_o those_o that_o come_v to_o hear_v so_o soon_o in_o a_o morning_n and_o be_v willing_a even_o in_o hard_a weather_n to_o come_v out_o of_o their_o bed_n they_o give_v some_o good_a testimony_n that_o they_o do_v desire_n to_o honour_n god_n in_o their_o hear_n and_o to_o get_v good_a by_o their_o hear_n and_o it_o be_v pity_v that_o labour_n and_o pain_n shall_v be_v bestow_v and_o no_o profit_n but_o hurt_n rather_o get_v by_o it_o which_o god_n forbid_v therefore_o now_o i_o be_o to_o speak_v to_o a_o point_n that_o may_v help_v you_o so_o to_o hear_v as_o may_v recompense_v all_o your_o labour_n and_o pain_n in_o hear_v in_o preach_v to_o those_o that_o come_v to_o hear_v that_o so_o they_o may_v get_v good_a and_o benefit_n by_o it_o there_o be_v a_o
