prove_v that_o which_o all_o learned_a know_v to_o be_v most_o true_a the_o spirit_n of_o god_n speak_v to_o the_o same_o purpose_n by_o these_o prophet_n under_o figurative_a word_n that_o he_o do_v by_o other_o prophet_n in_o plain_a speech_n o_o you_o priest_n say_v osee_n hear_v this_o o_o you_o house_n of_o israel_n give_v ear_n o_o thou_o house_n of_o the_o king_n judgement_n be_v against_o government_n for_o god_n have_v appoint_v they_o as_o shepherd_n as_o guider_n and_o patron_n of_o his_o people_n to_o direct_v they_o to_o keep_v they_o to_o defend_v they_o in_o his_o true_a worship_n and_o right_a service_n and_o if_o they_o will_v be_v wander_v from_o he_o either_o by_o error_n in_o religion_n or_o by_o wickedness_n in_o life_n to_o instruct_v &_o teach_v they_o and_o by_o all_o mean_n that_o may_v be_v to_o call_v they_o home_o again_o or_o if_o they_o will_v not_o be_v rule_v by_o authority_n to_o bridle_v and_o restrain_v they_o yea_o and_o by_o punishment_n to_o correct_v they_o now_o if_o the_o watchman_n and_o shepherd_n that_o be_v the_o guider_n and_o ruler_n of_o the_o people_n whether_o they_o be_v civil_a or_o ecclesiastical_a shall_v wax_v ignorant_a and_o unskilful_a of_o their_o duty_n shall_v become_v negligent_a and_o careless_a of_o their_o charge_n shall_v be_v give_v over_o to_o voluptuousness_n and_o pleasure_n of_o the_o world_n or_o to_o covetousness_n bribery_n and_o extortion_n to_o injury_n violence_n and_o oppression_n and_o in_o their_o government_n seek_v their_o own_o pleasure_n and_o commodity_n and_o nothing_o regard_n either_o the_o benefit_n of_o the_o people_n or_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n then_o i_o say_v these_o speech_n of_o the_o prophet_n lie_v direct_o against_o they_o and_o may_v well_o be_v use_v to_o declare_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n towards_o they_o but_o what_o make_v this_o to_o the_o purpose_n pretend_v how_o hang_v this_o reason_n together_o god_n by_o the_o prophet_n earnest_o reprove_v the_o governor_n aswell_o of_o the_o church_n as_o of_o the_o common_a weal_n for_o their_o wickedness_n covetousness_n and_o extortion_n therefore_o bishop_n and_o ecclesiastical_a minister_n may_v not_o by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n enjoy_v temporal_a land_n &_o possession_n or_o this_o god_n blame_v the_o priest_n of_o the_o old_a law_n for_o covetousness_n therefore_o the_o bishop_n of_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n may_v have_v no_o land_n and_o possession_n they_o that_o will_v be_v persuade_v with_o such_o reason_n will_v easy_o be_v carry_v away_o into_o error_n if_o it_o be_v certain_a and_o do_v of_o necessity_n follow_v that_o all_o they_o which_o have_v great_a live_n and_o possession_n must_v needs_o be_v covetous_a then_o happy_o this_o reason_n may_v be_v of_o some_o force_n but_o i_o think_v there_o be_v no_o reasonable_a man_n that_o will_v grant_v it_o and_o therefore_o this_o reason_n be_v without_o all_o reason_n the_o priest_n &_o levite_n as_o themselves_o confess_v have_v no_o great_a land_n and_o lordship_n and_o yet_o we_o find_v they_o often_o in_o the_o prophet_n accuse_v and_o blame_v for_o covetousness_n therefore_o it_o be_v not_o the_o want_n of_o temporal_a land_n and_o live_n that_o can_v bring_v covetousness_n a_o poor_a heart_n and_o content_a mind_n void_a of_o covetousness_n we_o see_v often_o as_o covetous_a and_o greedy_a heart_n in_o mean_a man_n bosom_n as_o in_o the_o great_a land_a lord_n in_o a_o whole_a country_n and_o on_o the_o contrary_a part_n we_o find_v in_o they_o that_o have_v very_o great_a possession_n as_o humble_a and_o as_o content_v mind_n &_o as_o far_o from_o the_o affection_n of_o covetousness_n as_o in_o the_o mean_a man_n that_o be_v job_n be_v of_o great_a wealth_n and_o possession_n and_o yet_o we_o read_v not_o that_o he_o be_v ever_o blame_v for_o covetousness_n yea_o he_o bear_v witness_n of_o his_o
