invocate_v saint_n according_a to_o the_o sense_n of_o this_o council_n be_v to_o have_v recourse_n to_o their_o prayer_n for_o obtain_v benefit_n from_o god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n so_o that_o in_o reality_n we_o do_v not_o obtain_v those_o benefit_n which_o we_o receive_v by_o the_o intercession_n of_o the_o saint_n otherwise_o than_o through_o jesus_n christ_n and_o in_o his_o name_n see_v these_o saint_n themselves_o pray_v in_o no_o other_o manner_n than_o through_o jesus_n christ_n and_o be_v not_o hear_v but_o in_o his_o name_n after_o which_o we_o can_v imagine_v that_o any_o one_o shall_v accuse_v we_o of_o forsake_v jesus_n christ_n when_o we_o beseech_v his_o member_n who_o be_v also_o we_o his_o child_n who_o be_v our_o brethren_n and_o his_o saint_n who_o be_v our_o first_o fruit_n to_o pray_v with_o we_o and_o for_o we_o to_o our_o common_a master_n in_o the_o name_n of_o our_o common_a mediator_n as_o for_o forsake_v jesus_n christ_n this_o we_o do_v not_o charge_v they_o with_o though_o whoever_o consider_v how_o much_o more_o frequent_a address_n be_v make_v in_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n to_o the_o virgin_n mary_n and_o some_o other_o powerful_a saint_n than_o to_o christ_n himself_o will_v be_v tempt_v to_o think_v that_o it_o look_v very_o like_o forsake_v he_o but_o we_o only_o say_v that_o they_o rob_v christ_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o be_v our_o only_a mediator_n and_o advocate_n by_o have_v recourse_n to_o the_o prayer_n and_o intercession_n of_o so_o many_o saint_n but_o how_o can_v the_o intercession_n of_o saint_n be_v injurious_a to_o the_o mediation_n of_o christ_n when_o they_o themselves_o intercede_v in_o the_o name_n and_o mediation_n of_o christ_n which_o necessary_o reserve_v to_o christ_n the_o glory_n of_o his_o mediation_n entire_a since_o the_o saint_n themselves_o be_v not_o hear_v but_o in_o his_o name_n now_o right_o to_o understand_v this_o we_o must_v consider_v the_o nature_n of_o christ_n mediation_n which_o be_v to_o offer_v up_o all_o those_o prayer_n to_o god_n in_o heaven_n which_o we_o make_v to_o god_n in_o his_o name_n on_o earth_n he_o be_v our_o mediator_n in_o heaven_n 14._o our_o highpriest_n who_o be_v pass_v into_o the_o heaven_n 26._o who_o be_v make_v not_o after_o the_o law_n of_o a_o carnal_a commandment_n but_o after_o the_o power_n of_o a_o endless_a life_n 24._o who_o be_v make_v high_a than_o the_o heaven_n who_o be_v not_o enter_v into_o the_o holy_a place_n make_v with_o hand_n which_o be_v the_o figure_n of_o the_o true_a but_o into_o heaven_n itself_o now_o to_o appear_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n for_o we_o so_o that_o as_o the_o highpriest_n under_o the_o law_n enter_v once_o a_o year_n into_o the_o holy_a place_n which_o be_v a_o type_n and_o figure_n of_o heaven_n to_o make_v expiation_n and_o intercession_n for_o the_o people_n so_o the_o office_n of_o christ_n as_o our_o highpriest_n and_o mediator_n be_v to_o ascend_v into_o heaven_n with_o his_o own_o blood_n and_o there_o to_o appear_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n for_o we_o his_o mediatory_a office_n be_v confine_v to_o heaven_n there_o he_o present_v our_o prayer_n to_o god_n in_o virtue_n of_o his_o own_o blood_n and_o this_o be_v as_o peculiar_a and_o appropriate_v to_o he_o as_o it_o be_v to_o the_o highpriest_n under_o the_o law_n to_o offer_v the_o blood_n of_o the_o sacrifice_n and_o make_v atonement_n and_o intercession_n in_o the_o holy_a of_o holies_n so_o that_o to_o present_v our_o prayer_n to_o god_n in_o heaven_n be_v the_o peculiar_a office_n of_o christ_n who_o be_v our_o great_a highpriest_n and_o only_a mediator_n in_o the_o immediate_a presence_n of_o god_n in_o heaven_n and_o to_o apply_v ourselves_o to_o any_o other_o mediator_n in_o heaven_n to_o present_v our_o prayer_n to_o god_n in_o what_o manner_n or_o upon_o what_o pretence_n soever_o it_o be_v be_v injurious_a to_o the_o mediation_n of_o christ_n who_o proper_a office_n it_o be_v to_o present_v our_o prayer_n to_o god_n in_o heaven_n and_o that_o pretence_n that_o the_o saint_n pray_v for_o we_o only_o in_o the_o name_n and_o mediation_n of_o christ_n be_v no_o apology_n in_o this_o case_n for_o in_o what_o name_n soever_o they_o pray_v they_o offer_v up_o our_o prayer_n to_o god_n immediate_o in_o heaven_n which_o be_v the_o office_n of_o our_o great_a highpriest_n for_o there_o be_v and_o must_v be_v but_o be_v but_o one_o mediator_n in_o heaven_n and_o if_o we_o consider_v what_o be_v mean_v by_o pray_v to_o god_n in_o the_o name_n and_o mediation_n of_o christ_n we_o shall_v see_v reason_n to_o think_v that_o this_o be_v very_o improper_o attribute_v to_o the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n for_o when_o we_o pray_v to_o god_n in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n though_o we_o address_v our_o prayer_n immediate_o to_o god_n yet_o god_n do_v not_o receive_v they_o as_o come_v immediate_o from_o we_o but_o as_o present_v by_o the_o hand_n of_o our_o mediator_n which_o be_v the_o true_a meaning_n of_o pray_v to_o god_n in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n that_o we_o offer_v our_o prayer_n to_o god_n not_o direct_o from_o ourselves_o for_o than_o we_o shall_v have_v no_o need_n of_o a_o mediator_n but_o by_o his_o hand_n who_o office_n it_o be_v to_o present_v they_o to_o god_n to_o appear_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n for_o we_o which_o be_v therefore_o call_v come_v to_o god_n by_o he_o 25._o now_o this_o be_v very_o agreeable_a to_o the_o state_n and_o condition_n of_o christian_n on_o earth_n who_o be_v at_o a_o great_a distance_n from_o the_o immediate_a throne_n and_o presence_n of_o god_n to_o offer_v their_o prayer_n by_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o mediator_n who_o appear_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n for_o they_o and_o the_o reason_n why_o we_o want_v a_o mediator_n to_o appear_v for_o we_o be_v because_o we_o be_v not_o yet_o
