as_o such_o to_o be_v a_o institution_n of_o jesus_n christ_n nor_o ever_o write_v against_o it_o as_o some_o in_o this_o nation_n have_v do_v no_o way_n for_o their_o credit_n nor_o honour_n of_o the_o gospel_n these_o thing_n be_v so_o it_o may_v be_v inquire_v what_o ground_n and_o reason_n our_o brethren_n in_o this_o nation_n have_v at_o first_o or_o have_v now_o to_o oppose_v this_o divine_a institution_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n a_o brief_a reply_n to_o a_o book_n call_v a_o treatise_n concern_v lay_v on_o of_o hand_n write_a by_o a_o nameless_a author_n and_o and_o the_o supper_n be_v figure_n of_o our_o lord_n death_n etc._n etc._n therefore_o this_o must_v be_v a_o figure_n of_o the_o same_o or_o no_o ordinance_n this_o be_v not_o argumentative_a nor_o that_o he_o be_v send_v to_o saul_n that_o he_o may_v receive_v the_o spirit_n be_v grant_v but_o whether_o by_o lay_v on_o of_o hand_n or_o some_o other_o mean_n be_v yet_o to_o be_v prove_v and_o this_o be_v a_o extraordinary_a case_n and_o different_a from_o that_o in_o act_n 8.14_o 15._o viz._n ananias_n his_o lay_v hand_n on_o saul_n as_o a_o blind_a man_n that_o he_o may_v receive_v his_o sight_n which_o answer_v to_o that_o in_o mark_n 16.18_o and_o peter_n and_o john_n lay_v their_o hand_n on_o they_o in_o act_n 8.14_o as_o on_o baptize_v believer_n as_o such_o for_o their_o receive_v the_o holy_a spirit_n make_v nothing_o to_o the_o controversy_n depend_v though_o mr._n d._n have_v put_v they_o together_o as_o if_o the_o subject_a manner_n and_o end_v be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o but_o second_o to_o proceed_v to_o that_o scripture_n act_v 8.14_o where_o mention_n be_v make_v of_o peter_n and_o john_n lay_n their_o hand_n on_o baptize_v believer_n in_o samaria_n which_o our_o brethren_n affirm_v be_v also_o to_o confer_v the_o extraordinary_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n but_o how_o much_o they_o be_v mistake_v herein_o shall_v be_v examine_v since_o it_o appear_v not_o that_o the_o apostle_n at_o jerusalem_n do_v either_o send_v peter_n and_o john_n to_o samaria_n upon_o that_o account_n or_o that_o they_o lay_v their_o hand_n upon_o those_o believe_a samaritan_n to_o that_o only_a end_n it_o be_v very_o strange_a mr._n d._n or_o other_o shall_v affirm_v any_o such_o thing_n therefore_o to_o prevent_v this_o mistake_n let_v we_o once_o again_o examine_v these_o text_n now_o when_o the_o apostle_n which_o be_v at_o jerusalem_n hear_v that_o samaria_n have_v receive_v the_o word_n of_o god_n they_o send_v unto_o they_o peter_n and_o john_n who_o when_o they_o be_v come_v down_o pray_v for_o they_o that_o they_o may_v receive_v the_o holy_a spirit_n it_o be_v not_o say_v the_o extraordinary_a gift_n but_o the_o holy_a spirit_n those_o you_o see_v be_v the_o express_a word_n for_o as_o yet_o say_v the_o text_n he_o be_v fall_v upon_o none_o of_o they_o only_o they_o be_v baptize_v in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n then_o lay_v they_o their_o hand_n on_o they_o and_o they_o receive_v the_o holy_a ghost_n verse_n 14_o 25._o i_o know_v it_o be_v object_v from_o the_o follow_a word_n that_o the_o spirit_n come_v upon_o after_o this_o manner_n that_o what_o be_v the_o effect_n of_o their_o lay_v their_o hand_n upon_o they_o be_v the_o end_n why_o they_o lay_v on_o their_o hand_n and_o that_o end_n be_v by_o none_o attain_v in_o these_o day_n therefore_o lay_v on_o of_o hand_n be_v not_o practicable_a in_o these_o day_n we_o shall_v show_v you_o the_o sad_a consequence_n and_o absurdity_n that_o will_v follow_v
