therefore_o now_o fellow_n commoner_n who_o be_v bear_v to_o as_o large_a privilege_n and_o immunity_n as_o any_o people_n on_o the_o earth_n which_o you_o may_v all_o challenge_n as_o your_o birthright_n lest_o you_o shall_v be_v induce_v through_o the_o subtlety_n of_o some_o litigious_a lawyer_n or_o through_o the_o policy_n and_o specious_a pretence_n of_o any_o man_n whatsoever_o to_o judge_v our_o action_n of_o guard_v his_o majesty_n from_o holmby_n to_o be_v illegal_a and_o contrary_a to_o the_o trust_v repose_v in_o we_o assure_v yourselves_o that_o action_n of_o we_o be_v not_o a_o rash_a precipitant_a enterprise_n as_o some_o say_v but_o challenge_v the_o law_n of_o nature_n nation_n this_o kingdeme_n and_o our_o commissioner_n derive_v from_o the_o parliament_n for_o its_o foundation_n the_o law_n of_o nature_n vindicate_v we_o for_o as_o in_o a_o natural_a body_n which_o be_v compose_v of_o sundry_a member_n may_v lawful_o seek_v its_o own_o preservation_n as_o from_o inward_a distemper_n or_o outward_a danger_n that_o threaten_v its_o ruin_n so_o likewise_o may_v a_o political_a body_n do_v if_o the_o head_n be_v in_o danger_n the_o foot_n ought_v to_o run_v and_o the_o hand_n to_o act_v for_o its_o preservation_n and_o in_o this_o endeavour_n every_o member_n particular_o as_o well_o as_o joint_o be_v oblige_v so_o that_o if_o one_o hand_n be_v cut_v off_o one_o foot_n lame_a one_o eye_n forth_o the_o other_o hand_n foot_n and_o eye_n be_v not_o hereby_o disengage_v but_o the_o more_o firm_o bind_v to_o put_v forth_o their_o utmost_a power_n for_o the_o body_n fence_n 2._o the_o law_n of_o nation_n warrant_v we_o every_o nation_n inviolable_o maintain_v this_o that_o every_o member_n in_o the_o nation_n ought_v to_o preserve_v the_o nation_n as_o much_o as_o in_o he_o lie_v it_o be_v a_o universal_a principle_n non_fw-la nobis_fw-la solum_fw-la nati_fw-la sumus_fw-la etc._n etc._n we_o be_v not_o bear_v for_o ourselves_o alone_o but_o the_o country_n in_o which_o we_o live_v challenge_n a_o interest_n in_o we_o this_o principle_n make_v many_o rejoice_v in_o die_v esteem_v it_o dulce_fw-la &_o decorum_n pro_fw-la patria_fw-la mori_fw-la 3._o the_o law_n of_o this_o kingdom_n by_o which_o we_o may_v expect_v to_o stand_v or_o fall_n secure_v we_o in_o this_o kingdom_n we_o have_v this_o maxim_n that_o salus_fw-la populi_fw-la be_v suprema_fw-la lex_fw-la the_o safety_n of_o the_o people_n be_v the_o supreme_a law_n this_o be_v the_o hinge_n we_o move_v upon_o the_o kingdom_n safety_n be_v endanger_v and_o without_o a_o speedy_a application_n of_o a_o timely_a preservative_n be_v likely_a to_o be_v consume_v the_o best_a preservative_n we_o can_v see_v be_v the_o security_n of_o his_o majesty_n person_n which_o our_o act_n have_v effect_v who_o enemy_n be_v so_o dull_a and_o who_o understanding_n be_v so_o stupefy_v and_o sottish_o blind_a but_o may_v remember_v and_o know_v what_o a_o sad_a disaster_n have_v befall_v the_o kingdom_n in_o the_o expense_n of_o so_o much_o blood_n and_o treasure_n by_o the_o surprise_a of_o his_o majesty_n person_n in_o the_o late_a war_n who_o can_v but_o know_v have_v they_o not_o have_v his_o person_n their_o design_n have_v prove_v abortive_a we_o will_v know_v there_o be_v a_o design_n to_o seize_v on_o his_o majesty_n to_o raise_v a_o new_a army_n and_o unnatural_o to_o involve_v this_o kingdom_n in_o its_o own_o blood_n and_o so_o to_o render_v our_o latter_a end_n miserable_o worse_o than_o our_o beginning_n but_o this_o we_o think_v ourselves_o bind_v to_o prevent_v if_o possible_a which_o we_o still_o judge_v and_o doubt_v not_o to_o prove_v it_o and_o be_v yet_o lawful_a for_o we_o to_o do_v as_o the_o king_n be_v by_o the_o law_n of_o this_o kingdom_n bind_v to_o govern_v and_o secure_v we_o according_a to_o the_o law_n so_o be_v we_o engage_v to_o secure_v his_o person_n against_o the_o violater_n of_o the_o law_n which_o we_o have_v through_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n accomplish_v our_o end_n be_v not_o his_o enthrallment_n bondag_n and_o ruin_n as_o by_o our_o action_n may_v appear_v but_o his_o safety_n a_o the_o kingdom_n preservation_n which_o otherwise_o we_o just_o sea_n have_v both_o be_v endanger_v suppose_v the_o king_n through_o ignorance_n of_o traitor_n intention_n to_o destroy_v his_o person_n or_o his_o kingdom_n shall_v expose_v himself_o to_o the_o mercy_n of_o he_o that_o seek_v his_o life_n do_v you_o imagine_v it_o will_v be_v treasonable_a for_o any_o one_o to_o remove_v his_o majesty_n though_o without_o his_o consent_n fronn_n the_o place_n the_o traitor_n seek_v his_o life_n in_o &_o so_o to_o preserve_v he_o but_o the_o case_n be_v yet_o more_o fair_a for_o we_o his_o judgement_n be_v satisfy_v his_o will_n be_v likewise_o concur_v to_o his_o remove_n we_o hope_v this_o our_o action_n will_v be_v recent_v in_o good_a part_n by_o all_o the_o nation_n for_o who_o good_a it_o be_v effect_v have_v the_o king_n be_v surprise_v another_o army_n be_v under_o his_o name_n raise_v the_o nation_n once_o more_o wallow_v in_o its_o own_o blood_n then_o sure_o but_o too_o late_a will_v the_o people_n have_v cry_v out_o oh_o that_o some_o have_v be_v stir_v up_o to_o have_v stand_v in_o this_o breach_n 4_o the_o commission_n from_o the_o parl._n who_o some_o say_v though_o with_o more_o boldness_n than_o judgement_n more_o malice_n than_o wisdom_n and_o more_o envy_n than_o prudence_n or_o honesty_n we_o have_v rebel_v against_o &_o act_v contrary_a to_o in_o this_o action_n acquit_v we_o for_o by_o our_o commission_n we_o be_v bind_v to_o seek_v the_o preservation_n of_o the_o king_n person_n whether_o we_o have_v not_o so_o do_v let_v all_o the_o kingdom_n judge_n what_o hurt_v to_o his_o person_n have_v we_o do_v what_o hurt_v to_o the_o kingdom_n have_v we_o do_v we_o be_v not_o conscious_a to_o ourselves_o that_o we_o have_v in_o this_o do_v amiss_o who_o have_v cause_n to_o complain_v sure_o none_o can_v nor_o will_v except_o those_o who_o have_v think_v to_o have_v make_v all_o man_n dance_v after_o their_o pipe_n kiss_v their_o hand_n and_o resign_v up_o their_o birthright_n liberty_n and_o life_n to_o their_o arbitrary_a and_o tyrannical_a lawless_a boundless_a will_n these_o haman-like_a be_v mad_a to_o think_v a_o poor_a mordecay_n will_v not_o standcap_n in_o hand_n bow_v his_o knee_n and_o bend_v unto_o they_o now_o therefore_o fellow_n commoner_n i_o dare_v assure_v you_o if_o you_o listen_v to_o those_o man_n that_o in_o pulpit_n and_o press_v sound_a forth_o continual_a alarm_n against_o we_o you_o will_v involve_v yourselves_o and_o we_o in_o a_o bloody_a abhor_a by_o we_o engagement_n therefore_o my_o advice_n to_o you_o all_o who_o i_o love_v and_o honour_n for_o who_o peace_n and_o native_a immunity_n &_o privilege_n i_o think_v no_o task_n too_o hard_o to_o undertake_v no_o labour_n too_o great_a to_o undergo_v no_o danger_n so_o fearful_a as_o not_o to_o venture_v myself_o be_v that_o you_o will_v speedy_o &_o unanimous_o address_v yourselves_o to_o the_o parliament_n who_o you_o have_v choose_v who_o servant_n in_o truth_n they_o be_v or_o aught_o to_o be_v that_o they_o will_v no_o long_o protect_v unjust_a man_n through_o lawless_a pretence_n of_o infringe_v the_o liberty_n of_o parliament_n but_o that_o they_o will_v give_v free_a liberty_n and_o declare_v it_o to_o all_o the_o kingdom_n that_o all_o and_o every_o man_n shall_v and_o may_v have_v free_a liberty_n to_o accuse_v any_o member_n of_o that_o house_n and_o that_o no_o man_n shall_v sit_v there_o against_o who_o the_o kingdom_n shall_v have_v aught_o just_o as_o be_v a_o unreasonable_a thing_n to_o think_v that_o the_o oppressor_n of_o the_o subject_n be_v fit_a reformer_n of_o the_o kingdom_n and_o that_o the_o parliament_n will_v speed_o without_o delay_n hasten_v this_o kingdom_n year_n of_o jubilee_n that_o every_o man_n may_v return_v to_o his_o own_o home_n sit_v under_o his_o own_o vine_n and_o all_o our_o sword_n may_v be_v turn_v into_o plough_n share_n that_o there_o may_v no_o more_o be_v the_o alarm_n of_o war_n sound_v in_o this_o kingdom_n you_o oh_o country_n man_n it_o lie_v upon_o you_o to_o remedy_n that_o the_o parliament_n be_v your_o stewards_n they_o ought_v to_o give_v a_o good_a account_n of_o their_o action_n you_o have_v set_v they_o a_o work_n good_a reason_n they_o shall_v tell_v you_o what_o they_o have_v do_v for_o you_o have_v you_o not_o part_v with_o much_o peace_n much_o money_n much_o blood_n and_o be_v you_o content_a to_o bury_v all_o in_o oblivion_n never_o to_o inquire_v what_o be_v become_v of_o all_o your_o lose_a pain_n and_o endeavour_n assure_v yourselves_o that_o if_o you_o awake_v not_o you_o be_v undo_v god_n have_v put_v a_o opportunity_n into_o your_o hand_n will_v you_o
