their_o own_o corruption_n and_o of_o satan_n temptation_n and_o more_o power_n to_o withstand_v they_o and_o to_o overcome_v they_o then_o former_o they_o have_v then_o for_o outward_a evil_n if_o there_o be_v any_o sickness_n or_o weakness_n or_o any_o other_o cross_n or_o calamity_n upon_o they_o they_o have_v the_o same_o either_o quite_o remove_v or_o at_o least_o sweeten_v and_o sanctify_v unto_o they_o for_o their_o profit_n and_o comfort_n for_o this_o be_v the_o substance_n of_o the_o covenant_n whereof_o the_o sacrament_n be_v a_o seal_n make_v unto_o penitent_a person_n ezek._n themselves_o in_o such_o or_o such_o a_o necessity_n or_o the_o like_a or_o perchance_o worse_a matter_n they_o will_v make_v long_a prayer_n but_o their_o heart_n be_v full_a of_o wrath_n and_o their_o mind_n full_a of_o doubt_v and_o so_o in_o other_o exercise_n of_o religion_n still_o they_o mingle_v their_o own_o corruption_n in_o so_o much_o that_o god_n can_v have_v no_o like_n of_o they_o such_o be_v the_o scribe_n and_o pharisy_n also_o who_o use_v to_o preach_v to_o give_v much_o alm_n to_o pray_v and_o fast_o often_o and_o have_v a_o very_a smooth_a outside_n for_o so_o much_o christ_n grant_v they_o that_o they_o be_v paint_v sepulcher_n fair_a to_o behold_v and_o look_v upon_o and_o grave_n so_o cover_v over_o with_o green-sward_n that_o one_o may_v walk_v over_o they_o again_o and_o again_o and_o yet_o never_o perceive_v any_o rot_a bone_n therein_o notwithstanding_o all_o this_o the_o vengeance_n of_o god_n be_v denounce_v against_o none_o more_o often_o man_n but_o not_o care_v to_o bring_v before_o he_o the_o inward_a man_n which_o he_o chief_o regard_v and_o look_v after_o and_o without_o which_o the_o other_o be_v of_o no_o reckon_n with_o he_o but_o be_v esteem_v to_o be_v a_o vain_a and_o sinful_a worship_n and_o the_o same_o detestation_n of_o such_o hypocritical_a serve_v of_o he_o the_o lord_n show_v in_o a_o other_o place_n of_o this_o prophecy_n where_o first_o he_o declare_v what_o kind_n of_o worshipper_n he_o require_v and_o delight_v in_o 66.2.3_o isa_n 66.2.3_o to_o he_o will_v i_o look_v say_v he_o even_o to_o he_o that_o be_v if_o we_o do_v not_o give_v he_o our_o heart_n all_o be_v nothing_o worth_a judas_n deal_v best_o with_o christ_n of_o all_o the_o disciple_n in_o appearance_n for_o when_o all_o shrink_v from_o the_o word_n and_o by_o get_v that_o sight_n of_o their_o want_n that_o may_v cause_v they_o to_o come_v with_o a_o eager_a appetite_n unto_o god_n house_n they_o seldom_o or_o at_o least_o very_o cold_o pray_v unto_o the_o lord_n to_o give_v they_o a_o understanding_n mind_n and_o a_o teachable_a heart_n to_o profit_n by_o the_o mean_n but_o for_o the_o most_o part_n thrust_v in_o themselves_o rued_o with_o a_o proud_a and_o unprepared_a heart_n and_o with_o unrulie_a and_o distemper_a affection_n that_o when_o they_o stand_v in_o god_n holy_a presence_n be_v wander_v from_o the_o duty_n in_o hand_n and_o run_v after_o their_o covetousness_n or_o after_o their_o delight_n and_o so_o if_o the_o word_n fly_v in_o at_o the_o one_o ear_n it_o fly_v out_o as_o fast_o at_o the_o other_o and_o they_o do_v not_o mingle_v it_o with_o faith_n as_o they_o shall_v do_v but_o with_o theirowne_a corruption_n 4._o hebr._n 4._o which_o hinder_v the_o effectual_a work_n of_o it_o and_o so_o it_o seal_v up_o unto_o many_o their_o own_o just_a condemnation_n in_o steed_n of_o be_v a_o instrument_n of_o god_n for_o their_o edification_n and_o salvation_n and_o as_o for_o god_n own_o child_n offer_v unto_o the_o lord_n but_o be_v full_a of_o passion_n which_o distract_v they_o and_o full_a of_o unbelief_n which_o exclude_v they_o from_o have_v interest_n in_o god_n blessing_n and_o so_o their_o prayer_n tumble_v down_o again_o upon_o their_o head_n and_o bring_v upon_o they_o judgement_n in_o steed_n of_o mercy_n they_o may_v true_o say_v that_o they_o have_v seek_v for_o help_v often_o and_o have_v have_v no_o hear_n but_o it_o be_v long_o of_o themselves_o for_o the_o sea_n be_v not_o more_o full_a of_o water_n then_o god_n be_v full_a of_o mercy_n to_o all_o that_o call_v upon_o he_o in_o truth_n and_o if_o they_o can_v put_v away_o their_o unbelief_n and_o hypocrisy_n and_o other_o evil_n that_o be_v mix_v with_o their_o suit_n and_o supplication_n they_o shall_v find_v that_o none_o be_v so_o kind_a a_o father_n as_o god_n be_v and_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v so_o ready_a to_o ask_v but_o he_o will_v be_v more_o ready_a to_o give_v if_o so_o be_v they_o do_v come_v in_o faith_n and_o ask_v aright_o as_o god_n require_v the_o like_a may_v be_v say_v for_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n diverse_a there_o be_v that_o partake_v of_o it_o as_o often_o as_o their_o neighbour_n do_v but_o they_o be_v so_o far_o from_o receive_v benefit_n and_o comfort_v therefrom_o that_o it_o prove_v hurtful_a and_o uncomfortable_a unto_o they_o and_o why_o because_o they_o put_v not_o away_o the_o evil_n of_o this_o work_n communicant_n evil_n to_o be_v remove_v by_o communicant_n but_o what_o be_v they_o may_n some_o demand_v they_o be_v diverse_a one_o common_a evil_n ignorance_n 1_o be_v gross_a and_o palpable_a ignorance_n that_o man_n come_v not_o discern_v the_o lord_n body_n and_o blood_n that_o be_v not_o be_v able_a to_o put_v a_o sensible_a difference_n between_o that_o and_o common_a bread_n and_o wine_n and_o so_o come_v unto_o it_o no_o otherwise_o then_o to_o their_o ordinary_a food_n not_o conceive_v much_o less_o well_o consider_v what_o they_o be_v to_o receive_v from_o god_n what_o from_o man_n what_o examination_n be_v to_o be_v use_v that_o they_o may_v be_v worthy_a receiver_n of_o it_o what_o judgement_n be_v to_o be_v fear_v if_o they_o be_v unworthy_a receiver_n and_o so_o they_o feel_v those_o judgement_n before_o they_o fear_v they_o 2_o a_o second_o evil_a to_o be_v remove_v from_o this_o work_n unbelief_n 2_o be_v unbelief_n which_o hinder_v we_o that_o we_o can_v find_v the_o inward_a virtue_n of_o those_o holy_a mystery_n for_o when_o we_o draw_v near_o to_o the_o lord_n table_n we_o shall_v make_v reckon_v of_o great_a benefit_n than_o all_o the_o king_n and_o kingdom_n of_o the_o earth_n can_v afford_v us._n for_o there_o god_n the_o father_n be_v the_o feast-maker_n he_o give_v neither_o god_n justice_n be_v unsatisfied_a nor_o any_o sin_n unrepented_a in_o those_o that_o labour_n to_o wash_v their_o soul_n by_o true_a and_o godly_a sorrow_n it_o be_v apparent_a that_o
