pleasure_n in_o these_o earthly_a thing_n because_o he_o be_v not_o thorough_o humble_v humiliation_n come_v and_o take_v all_o impedimout_n away_o plough_n up_o the_o hardness_n of_o the_o heart_n set_v the_o affection_n on_o another_o object_n to_o delight_n in_o check_n the_o will_n open_v the_o mind_n awaken_v the_o conscience_n that_o christ_n be_v all_o to_o he_o in_o all_o thing_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v compare_v unto_o the_o good_a ground_n that_o receive_v the_o word_n with_o a_o honest_a and_o good_a heart_n the_o heart_n will_v not_o be_v fit_a to_o receive_v that_o good_a that_o will_v make_v it_o good_a till_o it_o be_v plough_v deep_a and_o humble_v than_o the_o word_n will_v grow_v the_o heart_n must_v be_v humble_v before_o grace_n will_v grow_v and_o therefore_o this_o be_v the_o effect_n that_o humiliation_n work_v when_o the_o heart_n be_v humble_v he_o will_v not_o part_v with_o christ_n for_o any_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n therefore_o you_o see_v upon_o what_o ground_n humiliation_n be_v necessary_a because_o man_n will_v not_o receive_v christ_n till_o they_o be_v humble_v the_o second_o question_n be_v whether_o humiliation_n be_v 2._o simple_o way_n to_o make_v we_o fit_a to_o receive_v grace_n be_v to_o be_v humble_a a_o man_n may_v be_v say_v to_o receive_v christ_n by_o a_o common_a light_n of_o knowledge_n and_o hereupon_o do_v many_o thus_o insuppartable_a this_o shall_v teach_v we_o in_o all_o thing_n especial_o 1_o to_o labour_v to_o keep_v a_o good_a conscience_n and_o to_o labour_v to_o be_v free_a from_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n if_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v the_o great_a evil_n then_o shall_v the_o whole_a stream_n of_o our_o endeavour_n be_v to_o take_v heed_n thereof_o by_o labour_v for_o to_o keep_v a_o pure_a conscience_n proportion_n your_o care_n herein_o to_o the_o good_a that_o will_v come_v thereby_o it_o will_v bring_v the_o unspeakable_a comfort_n without_o this_o labour_n to_o keep_v a_o good_a conscience_n thou_o will_v never_o have_v thy_o heart_n perfect_a therefore_o labour_n for_o it_o consider_v the_o good_a it_o bring_v man_n busy_a their_o head_n here_o to_o the_o utmost_a for_o which_o if_o man_n will_v but_o do_v they_o will_v spend_v more_o time_n about_o it_o then_o they_o d_o you_o for_o now_o these_o thing_n be_v do_v but_o by_o the_o bye_n and_o have_v not_o that_o tithe_n of_o the_o time_n spend_v about_o they_o that_o shall_v be_v which_o we_o spend_v about_o other_o thing_n but_o let_v such_o know_v that_o it_o be_v but_o a_o folly_n to_o go_v about_o that_o work_n with_o a_o finger_n which_o require_v the_o strength_n of_o the_o whole_a body_n when_o this_o work_n of_o the_o build_n of_o grace_n do_v require_v the_o whole_a strength_n of_o a_o man_n way_n take_v time_n therefore_o to_o consider_v thy_o way_n it_o be_v no_o wonder_n to_o see_v man_n complain_v of_o their_o weakness_n when_o
the_o worth_n of_o it_o so_o no_o man_n will_v prize_v christ_n as_o excellent_a till_o he_o know_v he_o therefore_o labour_v to_o bring_v your_o heart_n unto_o such_o a_o frame_n that_o you_o may_v see_v that_o excellency_n that_o be_v in_o christ_n which_o you_o can_v see_v in_o any_o thing_n else_o and_o then_o you_o will_v love_v he_o above_o all_o thing_n the_o second_o motive_n to_o persuade_v you_o be_v this_o that_o this_o good_a you_o see_v in_o christ_n be_v you_o if_o you_o motive_n be_v he_o now_o that_o which_o make_v a_o man_n to_o love_v any_o thing_n that_o he_o have_v property_n and_o right_n in_o be_v this_o because_o it_o be_v his_o own_o and_o if_o you_o ask_v he_o wherefore_o he_o love_v his_o wife_n or_o his_o child_n or_o his_o good_n he_o will_v answer_v because_o they_o be_v my_o own_o so_o till_o a_o man_n make_v christ_n his_o own_o he_o will_v not_o love_v he_o above_o all_o thing_n but_o when_o he_o be_v once_o come_v to_o this_o that_o christ_n be_v his_o own_o than_o he_o will_v prize_v christ_n above_o all_o thing_n and_o love_v he_o above_o all_o thing_n my_o own_o have_v a_o great_a force_n that_o be_v a_o part_n of_o myself_o so_o be_v a_o great_a fault_n of_o many_o man_n they_o be_v more_o affright_v with_o the_o fire_n of_o the_o coal_n then_o with_o the_o filth_n of_o the_o coal_n sin_n trouble_v they_o more_o because_o of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o hell_n and_o damnation_n which_o by_o the_o word_n they_o apprehend_v then_o because_o of_o the_o defilement_n that_o come_v by_o sin_n that_o defile_v the_o profane_v the_o sabbath_n and_o swear_v and_o be_v drink_v again_o if_o it_o be_v thus_o with_o you_o you_o be_v never_o true_o humble_v for_o if_o you_o be_v you_o will_v tremble_v at_o the_o word_n what_o shall_v we_o say_v do_v you_o tremble_v at_o the_o word_n when_o you_o be_v no_o more_o move_v at_o it_o than_o the_o seat_n you_o sit_v on_o we_o may_v preach_v the_o law_n and_o damnation_n and_o spend_v ourselves_o and_o yet_o it_o will_v not_o work_v upon_o you_o this_o effect_n as_o to_o humble_v you_o but_o till_o then_o never_o say_v that_o you_o be_v humble_v and_o by_o this_o in_o the_o word_n a_o save_a power_n in_o it_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o you_o be_v true_o humble_v and_o on_o the_o contrary_a if_o the_o word_n be_v a_o unsavoury_a thing_n unto_o you_o if_o you_o can_v love_v it_o alone_o for_o itself_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o you_o be_v not_o humble_v now_o in_o the_o word_n there_o be_v two_o thing_n meat_n and_o medicine_n first_o i_o say_v there_o be_v when_o it_o come_v in_o the_o demonstration_n and_o evidence_n of_o the_o spirit_n when_o it_o be_v pure_o preach_v when_o it_o come_v as_o pure_a milk_n without_o mixture_n than_o it_o be_v sweet_a
